Saving Quicktime Movies

Still ,as was in safari 4 beta, no option to save quicktime movies you must do so by opening up activity window.

The URL is in the source of the frame in which the movie is playing.
If you are in Safari then View menu > View Source and search for "frame" until you find one that seems reasonable (it was the second one on this page.) The frame source shows as <iframe src="video/videoload.html?=mono/daily"
So I changed the current URL in the browser window from:
<a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://ellen.warnerbros.com/galleries/video.html
To:
http://ellen.warnerbros.com/galleries/video/videoload.html
And loaded that page... the movie appeared. I then viewed the source of the current page (could have control-clicked in the frame to View Frame Source) and saw the URL for the movie which was...

Paste the final movie URL into Safari's download window and the video will be downloaded.
Firefox has a Page Info feature that shows the url of the embedded media.

Saving quicktime movies from internet

i used to be able to choose file,save as & whatever quicktime movie i had viewed & chose to save would end up in the proper place. now, i go through all the same steps & the movie/file gets saved but when i try & open i get an ALERT:
QuickTime cannot open the file: "01.mpeg"
it is not a file that QuickTime understands (-2048).
is there an easy way to save movies from the web anymore?

i didnt need it before. i think it all changed the last QT update i ran. HELP feature said to ckick down button on player, did that & yeah, it looks like it leads me to a purchasing link. thanks for your time. i guess all i can do is save as a bookmark & wait for it to load when i want it.

Saving Quicktime Movies in Keynote

I'm using a 1GZ Power PC G4, with 768 ram, Keynote 3.02. When I insert a Quicktime movie into a Keynote theme (however short), it plays fine, but when I try to save it, Keynote crashes -- everytime! Any suggestions will be most appreciated.

Saving quicktime movies onto iphone

i apologize if this has been discussed before...
how do i get my quicktime movies (from digital cameras, movie clips, internet clips, etc...) onto my iphone? do they have to be in mpeg4 format first, then drag them over to 'movies' on itunes, which will then sync with the iphone?
if that's the case, then how do i, for example, save an .avi file as an mpg4 file?
it would be nice to be able to see your own movies (not just the ones you buy on itunes) on your iphone...

Assuming your movies can open in Quicktime, go to the 'File' menu and choose 'Export.' In there, click on the drop-down menu next to 'Export' and choose 'Movie to iPod' and click on 'Save.'
Once the movie is fully exported, drag the exported movie into iTunes. From there, you can sync it with your iPhone.

General error saving QuickTime movie for DVD

I have been trying to save my Final Cut Express project into QuickTime Movie so I can put it on a DVD- it gets 30% (about 12 minutes) through the Writing Audio and Video portion when a window pops up that says General Error. I don't know if this is a computer error, FCE error, QT error or what. I tried a bunch of obvious easy fixes that didn't work. It has done it 4 or 5 times over a few days. Suggestions?

FCE will not resize stills.
So using a large one (say 4000 X 2600 pixels, common for 12 meg still camera) involves a lot of calculation for FCE to fit the size of timeline. If you don't need a such size for some Ken Burn stuff or pan or zooming, stay with smaller size like 720x480 (the size of DV NTSC format) or 1920X1440 for HD.
You can use Photoshop or even preview applications do resize your stills.

Currently using windows vista, When I save a movie file using quicktime I can not view it on other computers using other windows operating systems. Just get a blank screen

Saving Quicktime movies "as read only"

I want to create an animation portfolio composed of quiktime movies and place it in my public folder but I don't want to save them as "read only" so they only be viewed and not saved or downloaded to anohter computer. Is this possible?

Your thread title seems inconsistent with the content of your message. in any case, it is very difficult to make movies totally secure from download, as a screen-capture utility like SnapzPro can even grab streamed content.

When i want to export movie as a quicktime movie in imovie09 i've saved it, it exports somewere, take a hard drive space but movie does not exist or i can't find it, please any help

In imovie (8.0.6) i click share, then export movie as quicktime movie, choose a folder then click save and it starts working. At the end of job movie is not there but hard disc space is gone. So I'm keep loosing space but not getting movie. Please can someone help me with this.

If you have Qt Pro, you can open the file and turn on a controller, then resave the file.

Disabling Saving of Quicktime Movies In Compressor

I'm creating a bunch of Quicktime Movies in compressor and I want to disable the save as option that the end user can see. (The drop down box on the lower right). I know I can do it through HTML by setting kioskmode to true, but that seems like an extra step.
Cleaner had this function years ago - why can't I find it in Compressor?
How can I make Compressor my one stop shop to compress as a H264 quicktime file, with fast start - compressed header, flatten for playback on all computers, and disable the end-users ability to save my quicktime file through the drop down in the player.
Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

iWeb doesn't write the html page code until the file is published and you would have to hand edit those files to add some code.
iWeb also uses special javascript to load QuickTime browser plug-in (and your file) and you would need to edit them to add.
The "old" html method is to add the kioskmode="true" tags and that same code can be added to the .js file made by iWeb. It stops "Pro" users from having the "Save" menu.
Since I don't have iWeb on my Mac mini, and I haven't looked very hard at the javascript code made by it, I don't have your answer.
iWeb 2 does include a QuickTime Inspector that can set some parameters but I don't know its options.

Where does iPad save QuickTime movies that are part of an email? Can't find them although it prompts a save icon.

Depending upon the movie format, I'm not sure that you can save it. But if you were able to play it in the email, that would answer if the format is compatible.
The Photos App would be my first guess or the Videos App.

Unable to Sync Quicktime Movie Clips with IPOD

I am a new ipod user having difficulty syncing Quicktime movie clips to IPOD.
Clips are saved as .mov files and Itunes will play.
However I cannot get them to sync woth IPOD.
Any ideas - Do I need to convert to annother format?

First you need to import your movies into iTunes. Do this by opening iTunes <File> <Import> <Movies> then choose the movie you want to put on your iPod. Make sure the movie has .mov at the end otherwise it won't be set up the way it's supposed to be.
Once the movie is imported into iTunes right click on it so a pull down menu appears. Click on <Convert Selection for iPod/iPhone>. It should begin converting it on its own and when it's done you'll hear the typical sound that happens after importing a cd, telling you the operation is complete.
After it's converted, you will have 2 identical movies in your menu. If you <Get Info> on each, you should be able to see which is newest version; that is the movie you are going to want to sync.
Then plug your iPod in to iTunes, go to the movie tab in iPod summary and check off the converted movies you want to sync to your iPod. Press <Sync> and that should add your movies to your iPod.

QuickTime Movie Files Won't Convert For iPod using iTunes and QuickTime Pro

I've got a ton, and I mean a ton of QuickTime movie files of music videos that I want to convert to use on the iPod. I tried using "Convert Selection For iPod" in the Advanced Menu on iTunes, but got the following message trying convert a QuickTime file of U2's Beautiful Day:
""Beautiful Day" could not be converted because this file does not allow for saving or conversion."
I purchased QuickTime Pro hoping that the features on Pro would convert the file. When I opened the same file to convert using QuickTime Pro, "Export" under the file menu was grayed out so I couldn't select it.
You'd think that an APPLE QuickTime Movie file that can be played on APPLE'S iTunes and APPLE'S QuickTime Player would be able to be converted to be used in APPLE'S iPod player. (Anybody notice how APPLE is capitalized to point out that the the hardware, software and file formats are ALL Apple?)
Instead I wasted money buying QuickTime Pro when it won't do what I specifically bought it for. Now I have all these QuickTime files which won't play on the iPod.
Can anybody provide some help or assistance on how to accomplish what I'm trying to accomplish???

If the file doesn't allow saving or conversions then it is protected by DRM (Fairplay).
Nothing can help QuickTime Pro convert protected files.

I plugged my old drive into an identical Vostro and saved my bookmarks per the instructions. Later, when I check the file, it was in html format. While waiting for the replacement laptop to arrive, I put my old (Vostro) hard drive into a case so I could access the files. I have been able to launch web pages from the file bt accessing them through My Documents so I know the file is good. The problem is, I apparently need to convert them into a JSON file in order to use them. There is a set of instructions on the Mozilla/Firefox website but that method does not work.
