Saving returned form data?
Hi,
I'm wondering if when I have my returned form data back I can then export it including the answers as a downloadable PDF?
I know you can on a paid account which is fine but I would like to know if it will be in the format and design of the original form only now including the filled in fields or is it just a PDF of the form results in a table?

Hi,
Yes, you could export the responses as PDF. In 'View Responses' tab, you should have an option to "Save as PDF" which is saving the selected response as a PDF Form - one response at a time.

You can use Web Dynpro Java with embedded Interactive PDF forms; and within your WDJ application, you can call various 'models': web services, EJBs and BAPIs/RFCs etc.
So to pass data to an SAP system, you don't automatically need the XML data as a BAPI is sufficient. Check out <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/webdynpro?rid=/library/uuid/49f2ea90-0201-0010-ce8e-de18b94aee2d#backend">these SDN tutorials</a> to do this.

Use Adobe Reader to Save Form Data
I use Acrobat 8 Professional to create several forms and enabled usage rights in Adobe Reader so that my users can save the form data locally using Adobe Reader 7 or higher. My questions are: (1.)Is there a limit to saving the form data? For example, the form can only be save 500 times per form or is it unlimited. (2.)If there is a limit to saving the form like 500 times, can the same form be recreated and the limit of 500 starts all over again? (3.)Do I need to purchase a license to save these form data? (4.)How many forms can have enable usage rights in Adobe Reader per Adobe Acrobat professional? The reason why i'm asking these questions is because I want to be in compliance with the Adobe license. My users don't have Adobe Acrobat Professional, but would like to use Adobe Reader to save the form data.

You'd probably be walking on thin ice by trying that. Could be a loophole but maybe not.

Not if you stay within the limit that is stated in the EULA.

Different forms? As far as I know there is no limit to the amount of different forms you use.
In my opinion, if you think you are going to go anywhere near the limitations of the EULA, consult with your attorney before proceeding. The form enabling function was never intended for large business use. Adobe has another, more costly, solution for that. -
How to copy form data from one pdf to another?

I have created a pdf, added form data to it. Saved the form data as a fdf file - all good.
I've updated the document and saved as a new pdf and would like to load the fdf data into it.
So I select tools - forms - more forms options, and press the "import" function - it goes grey and nothing happens.
If I re-open the document the import function remains greyed out.
I can find no way to import this data.... any ideas?
I've tried going into form edit mode - adding a new field. The import option is no longer greyed out so I click it and can select the fdf file hit open and ... the dialogue disappears and nothing happens.

For forms I would use only the PDF with a target version. Do not use the Optimizer feature.
Forms always become larger due to the need to include the font for the various form fields. You might have to review the type fonts used by the form fields and one standard font as much a possible.
It is possible to use the FDF file to move field values from one PDF to another.
If you are trying to replace the underlying content and keep the form fields, use the replace pages. -

I was not aware that ctrl+s no longer works in reader and closed the PDF after savign it(with ctrl+s). However ,the data is lost and there seems to be no way to recover it.
I cannot find any temp files created by Reader on my system.
Also to my surprize(and shock), the reader did not even show a warning before closing the PDF. Does anybody know if/where can I recover the file from?

Reader 9 is not displaying existing form data.

We have a series of files that were created using a form designed in Acrobat 7.0. When we open any of the files with Reader 7.0 we can see the form data that was entered, but when we open the same files with Reader 9 the data is not displayed.

in our business logic class i don't know how to correctly check the values just before they are saved to db
for example i tried using oitm.browser :

i tried getting the values directly from the form, but in object BusinessObjectInfo i don't have anything that identifies univocally the form i'm editing.
i mean if i have 2 item forms open, i don't know which one is the one i'm saving.
i'm expecting to find somewhere a temporary oitm business object containing values that are to be saved, values that i can easily check.
so i'm asking you how to find those values in order to perform my bl checks

The values that are about to be saved should be in the datasources:
form.DataSources.DBDataSources.Item("OITM");
form.DataSources.DBDataSources.Item("ITM1");
The form variable should be form 150.

Best practice: Saving form data

I'm new to the JSP technology.
To get some experience I built my own little shoutbox "application" where you can insert your name and a message and if you click on "submit" your message appears at the top of the page. Older messages also appear below the new message.
For this, I created a little JavaBean which handles the entered name and the message. I called this class "Message".
To read the messages out of the database I created another class (MessageHandler) which returns an ArrayList of objects from the Message class.
I don't know if I'm doing this the right way, but I use this MessageHandler as a JavaBean so that I can do this:

Save the form data in a "Message"-Bean and use a MessageHandler method (e.g. setNewMessage) to save the data in the database. The code would then look like this:

When I submit I have a servlet or Struts action that does the insert and then redirects/forwards to the submitting JSP , this JSP will then requery DB.
More complex
Always start with Struts and store all information on the Struts actionform. -
Fetching Form Data... does not return form's field list to edit
I have a Portal Form based on a view. It works fine if I run it.
Suddenly I am unable to edit the form field properties:
1) In the application list, I do not get run option for the form.
2) If I go to manage and edit, "Fetching Form Data..." does not return the list of fields, so I am unable to change field properties.
3) I can still run the form.
Please help, I need to fix this within hours.
Thanks in advance.I think I know what causes the error. Whenever I use HTML tags inside the Display Options/label text box I get this error.
I have tried <p align="right">xyz</p> and <h4 align="right">xyz</h4>. In both cases I can run the form the first time and the label appears right justified, but when you try to edit the form, bottom left shows "error on page" and field data does not show up.
To fix this I had to go to the version before I added the HTML tags to the label.

Form/php not returning certain data
So I just recently designed/launched a website (Dreamweaver CS 5.5) that utilizes a form for feedback from visitors. The form/corresponding php script seems to be functioning, as I have tested it numerous times. The only problem is that ONE of the entry forms doesn't seem to be returning any data.

When I test the page through my browser (firefox 24.0), I receive the e-mail as it should be, except that the "comment" section is always empty, no matter what I enter. I have checked and double checked and triple checked, and the associated text field is names "comment", and its entry in the script is ['comment']. I have tried replacing the sprytextarea with a regular, non-spry text area, and that didn't make a difference either. The only difference between this field and the other fields (all of which are returning exactly what they should) is that it's a textarea rather than a text field...but if that is the case, I have no idea how to fix it.
Any help on the matter would be much appreciated.According to the official specification for plain text email messages (http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2822#section-2.3), a newline character must not appear independently in the body. It should always be preceded by a carriage return.
Your code looks like this:

The specification also says that lines in the body must be no longer than 998 characters. Because you have no idea how long the content in the text area will be, it's a good idea to pass the body of the email to the wordwrap function like this before sending the mail:

I also agree with bregent that you should be using $_POST instead of $_REQUEST. -
Saving forms data in a text file

is it possible to save current forms data in a file just before commiting it into database and flushing out??????
2ndly is it possible to take out the print of current form without printing its background(canvas or background pics etc) coz its very time consuming & expensive if u simply take out the print of a form while using a Dot-Matrix Printer.You can change the background color of the canvas to white before you print:

Adobe Pro V 8 collecting forms data into spreadsheet
according to the tutorial included in V8, once forms have been returned, I am to open the saved form blank and then:
Choose File > Form Data> Create Spreadsheet from Data Files
HOWEVER, this menu choice is not available to me, not even grayed out.
why isn't this menu available?
thanksI suppose you created the form in Designer. In such a case, you may have to do the process in Designer, not Acrobat.

Problem with transfering unicode form data in MULTIPART/FORM-DATA
HI experts,
I have this web based multilingual application. Page 1(form6.jsp) is basic registeration form with 5 fields and one image upload to the server. Page 2(verify.jsp) is another jsp page for verification of UTF data entered in page 1.
page 2 (verify.jsp) also uses a bean called (verify.java) for picking up values. page 3(insertEntry.jsp) is the page for inserting that data into the Database and uses a bean called (logicbean.java).
Now, the problem im facing here is that if i use multipart/form-data, the unicode text filled in page1 is shown as garbage when its is transfered to page2 and displayed on page2. It is all gibberish. But if i do not use multipart/form-data, the unicode text transfered from page1 to page2 is displayed perfectly on page2.Im using devenagari(UTF) language for filling in details.

I have narrowed down the problem to the point where i understand that the "request.getParameter()" function for multipart is not able to understand or read UTF data properly. The out.println prints garbage from this function on the console. im using WAS

PDFMaker 9.1, Excel 2003, Users can't save form data
Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for some assistance with a problem.
I created a new form in Adobe Pro 9.1 bringing in an excel template. The final product looked great. I had our IT department post it on our Intranet, and some individuals commented back they cannot save a copy of the data they entered in the blank form. I tested with others where it works fine. I can't confirm 100%, but it seems whoever has the Adobe "Pro" version can save and those with just the "standard" cannot save. They get that message Save a Blank Copy of this Form, Data typed into this form will not be saved..."etc.
I tried going to Advanced-Extend Features in Adobe Reader, but that doesn't help either once posted on the website.
Any suggestions how to enable so that all users (1000's) can save their work they typed into the document if they wish?

Just an obtw re: "extended" PDF forms (which, if there are users of Adobe Reader, will have to be made use of):
When you "extend" a PDF form usage most comply with the "500 limit" of the EULA.
With "1000's" of end-users you may well be in harms way.
See Section 15.12.3 (PDF page 408 of 410).

LiveCycle ES avoids this but is costly.
Alternatively, piping out the user's form input to FDF and processing that at the server level could be done.
For this, you might have your IT folks give the FDF SDK a look over.
