Saving separate pages of large PDF

I have a 640 page PDF file created in Adobe Acrobat 9 and converted to be used in Reader.  How can a user save only certian pages from it?  I can only see how to save the entire file.

You would need Adobe Acrobat. Reader can't do that.

  • How to avoid tiny rectangles showing up as separate pages in multipage PDFs scanned with Image Capture?

I'm not sure I'm posting this question in the right forum. I am having a scanning problem. I’d appreciate it if anyone could explain what’s happening and suggest how to avoid it or how to fix it after the fact. I’m using a large-format scanner, the HP Officejet 7610, with a MacBook Pro, running OS X Yosemite, v.10.10.1. I am using Apple’s Image Capture app, v.6.6, for scanning software. I am scanning some newspapers, with text and photos on the pages, which are about 11” x 14-3/4” in size. I am making multipage PDFs, each about 10 pp., at a resolution of 300 dpi. Sometimes, when I scan a single page or multiple pages, one or more tiny rectangles of scan show up in the resulting PDF, following a normal page or between pages. In the Acrobat Reader, this tiny rectangle shows up as a curious little box, much less than an inch on a side, and when the PDF is printed out, the tiny rectangle is printed, too, as though it were a separate page. Why is this rectangle showing up in my scans? Is there a way to keep from getting it? After it has been made a part of a multipage PDF, is there any way to get rid of it, keeping the rest of the scan?

I haven't received any replies to the question I recently posted, but one work-around that HP suggested is to use different scanning software. Instead of Image Capture, I used the HP Scan.app that came with my all-in-one printer. I haven't seen those rectangles in my PDFs since switching.

Hey there @Rudyard , welcome back
I read through your post about the scanning issues you're having, and I'd like to help!
Please try scanning with the HP Scan software to see if the same quality problems happen, and if so, try these steps in order:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
    Repair disk permissions
    Restart the Mac
Install the full feature driver: HP Officejet 7610 Wide Format e-All-in-One series Full Feature Software and Drivers
Also install the Apple driver: HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X
I hope that helps, let me know the results!

  • How do I separate pages from a PDF?

How do I save a pdf form that is 2 pages into separate pages?  So I would end up with 2 separate files.

    Hi separate pages,
To separate pages, you need to use Acrobat. If you don't have Acrobat, feel free to give it a try. You can download a trial from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html. (In Acrobat, you choose either Extract or Split from the Pages pane in the Tools panel.)
    Best,

  • Use XMLP to pull only specific pages from larger PDF template?

We need to be able to pull specific pages or a range of pages out of a larger template to use to merge data into and return to users or the selected delivery method. I've seen a lot of information about how to add page numbers to PDF templates / documents, but nothing about how I can pull out specific pages. We know this can be done using iText or some other technology, but does anyone know if this can be done using XML Publisher at all? This is a big issue for us and could determine whether we end up using XMLP at all or go with something else. Any info would be helpful.
    Thanks!

    Hi
Publisher is not currently capable of pulling out specific pages from a given PDF,.

  • 10.6.8 user receives Acrobat X crash when deleting pages in large PDF

I have a user that consistently has Acrobat X Pro crash on his whenever he is deleting pages from a PDF that has a large amount of pages.
He says the crashing is regular with PDFs that consist of 10+ pages.  He shift+clicks to select multiple pages and upon hitting the Delete key, the program will freeze and eventually crash.
He sent me over a crash log of the most recent event, if that is of any help.  I've pasted the crashlog header and the crashed thread:

  • Is it possible to create interactive drop down lists that reference tables on separate pages of the PDF?

I am looking to create a user input PDF in which drop down lists are utilized to search tables, however, I am not very familiar with the options that are available or if this is even possible?  Also, is it possible to write a background code that could read user inputted text to run a search or even solve some equation? Can someone let me know if these items are possible and/or let me know what adobe program may be necessary to accomplish these tasks? Thanks!

PDFs have no concept of "tables" like MS Word or MS Excel has. There is content that looks like a table.
Acrobat JavaScript does know about arrays and form fields. So one could have an array in JavaScript and fill in a series of fields that looks like a table. One can then use JavaScript to search the table.
JavaScript in Acrobat can accept user input in fields and pop-up windows.
It is possible to solve user imputed equations if the proper notation or coding is used.

  • Pages 5.0: PDF export broken

I removed v5 from my wifes machine. She has been producing catalogs for her business for a number of years now using Pages. With v5 the reduction in size of when exporting to PDF is only marginal - we are left with files that are much too large.
Switching back to v4 solved the problem. I also left this feedback at apple.com.

I tried Dropbox, but when I update the PDF in my dropbox public folder, even though the file has the exact same name, it changes the link. That's what I want to avoid.  For now I'm saving the Pages file as PDF to my desktop, opening my FTP program and overwriting the old file in the directly.  That's many steps and a hassle.  I'm having to update the file a few times a day the last week and I wish there were a way that I could just publish it from Pages directly to some public site and the link not change when changes are made.

  • Modifying pages of a pdf document and saving so keeps separate pages

I could use some advice on how to do this. I have a pdf document that has 8 pages. I want to change some things on 4 of the pages. I open in Photoshop CS4 and it shows me the 8 pages. I select the first page I want to modify, change it but when I go to save the changes, my pdf document now saves as just that single page.
I need to be able to modify and save the individual pages but keep the concept of the original pdf file that has 8 separate pages. How do I change a page and "reinsert" it back into the original document and maintain the pages so when I send it as a pdf to a client they can open in Acrobat and scroll thru the pages.
    Thanks.

Mylenium’s assessment that Photoshop is not the tool of choice for pdf-editing is correct.
One exception is if the pages consist of no vector-data but (best only one) image/s.
In which case alt-double-clicking the image in Acrobat with the TouchUp Object Tool should open it in Photoshop and on saving there it should be updated in the pdf in Acrobat.

  • How do you create PDF of multiple layers in Illustrator CS3 so each layer is on separate page?

I am using CS3 and designing business cards. I have 10 names layed out as a separate layer in Illustrator.
I am now trying to save the Illustrator file as a PDF so that each business card appears on 1 page in 1 PDF document.
The PDF is saving as one page with all the names jumbled together rather than as separate pages. Clicking "Create Acrobat Layers from Top-Level Layers" does not work. Does anyone know how to save multiple page PDF from a layered Illustrator file? Thanks.

with a script probably check with the Illustrator scripting forum
the is away you can manually do it but it is quite cumbersome you make a document large enough to tile to the number of pages you need in the pdf.
then position in order of the tiles the art  and as you position the art you also create a new layer for that art. You don't actually have a different layer in this case for each page you just really need the art properly tiled.
You then have to print to pdf or to postscript and then distill.
Like I say very cumbersome but it was the way they use to do it. CS 4 makes this easier though different layers would still require a script.
    Best to use different artboards.

  • How do i save a calender i have created with the photo and the dates saved on separate pages?

how do i save a calender i have created in photoshop with the photo and the dates saved as two separate pages?  when i save as pdf or jpeg they are authomatically saving 1 pg with the photo and dates on one page.  This is causing problems when i print.

Hi there, in case your printer cannot print very large, you can also crop down two versions and print them as separate documents.
    1) Create a guide where you would like to split the pages by clicking on the ruler (hit command R if they are not showing) and dragging to the desired area.
Creating the guide will make it so you can be precise in the way you split up your page, and so that no part of the image will be repeated or lost.
    2) Select the Crop Tool and fit the crop area to the top half of your calendar, using the guide you've just made to snap to the right spot. Hit return to finalize the crop.
    3) Go to File > Save As. Name the file something like calendar_top and select the desired file format. Hit "Save."
    4) Once you get back to your calendar file, Go to the History panel and select "Drag Guide." This will take you back to the step before you cropped the image.
    5) Repeat the steps as before for the bottom half of the calendar, once again using the guide to help you make your crop area.
So then you would just print each of the two pages individually. The images will not be contained within one document, but if you have Acrobat you could combine the files.
    I hope this helps!

  • How Can I extract pages from a PDF document into a separate document by clicking a link?

    Hi,
I have created a large PDF document with several pages, I have a link symbol on the contents page of the document that relates to several services on different pages within the document. Currently they are identified by having the same link symbol on every page that relates to that particular service. I was wondering if there was any way in which I can create a interactive pdf, when I click the initial symbol link on the contents, it collates all the relevant linked service pages into a single document or guides the viewer to all the pages without having to create a separate pdf document for each service?
    Many thanks
    Yunus

Simple answer - no. PDF files cannot reassemble themselves into new documents, nor can you hide pages.

  • Extracting the first page of multiple PDFs & saving them as jpegs.

    Dear all,
First post - hope its in the right place.
I work in Publishing, and I have been given the following task - I have about 400 ebooks, all in pdf format, and my task is to extract the cover from every one of them (which is the first page of every pdf) and export them all as separate jpeg files (file names can remain exactly the same - ie, the name of the pdf book will be the same as the jpeg file). So I will end up with 400 ebooks and 400 jpegs of their covers.
Anyone have any idea how to do this ?
i have Windows and acrobat 8
I have looked at batch processing in acrobat, but the option to extract the first page of multiple pdf files is not one of the options. there is an option to create your own script which im guessing is my best bet ? (hence why i have posted my question here)  Though I don't have the first clue about this. Have done some google searches, and some people have created similar things, but I cant seem to get them to work.
    Any advice greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Rich

ok, i have found a set of acrobat batch sequence and come across the following :
Batch sequence name: Extract Pages to Folder.sequ. Task: For each file from the selected files, extract each of its pages and save the extracted pages to a particular folder.
    Example 2.10 Insert navigation icons
/* Extract Pages to Folder */
// A regular expression to acquire the base name of the file.
    var re = /.*\/|\.pdf$/ig;
    var filename = this.path.replace(re,"");
    try
      for ( var i = 0; i < this.numPages; i++ )
      this.extractPages
      nStart: i,
      cPath: "/C/temp/myDocs/"+filename+"_"+i+".pdf" // change this });
    catch (e)
       console.println("Batch Aborted: " + e )
looks like i need something like this, but tried the above earlier, and couldnt get it to work (prob cause I didnt replace the words exactly correctly). I am guessing that i am entering this in the correct place though (ie - create new sequence, and got into the script editor box)
