Saving snapshots to i-photo/e-mail

Question

Having taken a still photo with my i-sight camera I find that i-photo refuses to accept it & I can't figure out how to attach it to an e-mail. I'm sure it's quite simple, but then so am I. Help!

I use iPhoto4. iPhoto5 may be slightly different.)
b Do NOT try to manually add files to your iPhoto Library. Let iPhoto do it via iPhoto's Import command.
Launch iPhoto and execute the
b iPhoto > File > Import
menu command. That will present a dialog box that lets you navigate to your desktop and select the snapshot for import.
Click the "Import" button in the dialog box, and iPhoto will import a copy of your snapshot to your iPhoto Library. You should now be able to see the picture in iPhoto.
You can then throw the original that is on your Desktop away if you like.

If you do not especially desire to add the snapshot to your iPhoto Library, you can just drag and drop the snapshot from your desktop to any location within the body of your open, "New Message".
This method assumes you that you use Mac Mail for email and have set the
b Mail > Preferences... > Composing > Composing:
choices box to "Rich Text".
If you use Mac Mail for email but have set the
b Mail > Preferences... > Composing > Composing:
choices box to "Plain Text", or if you just prefer to use menu commands, you can use the
b Mail > File > Attach File...
menu command to open a dialog box, select your snapshot, and add it as an attachment to your New Message.
b Do NOT delete the snapshot from your desktop until AFTER your New Message has been sent.
