Saving songs in special circumstances

I want to transfer my iTunes songs to another computer. Can I email the songs to a different computer? If so, how do I do it? I already know about the limit of 5 computers or 5 devices or whatever, so you needn't mention this aspect of iTunes, I am not worried about this aspect of iTunes.
If I cannot email the songs to another computer, where can I find detailed instructions on Sharing iTunes songs with other computers? I know this is possible, I just don't know how to do it.
Also, I would like to find a definitive source of info about backing up my songs. If you can give me a url for this, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
iPod_madness

Emailing is possible - but it may take ages - take a look at all the possibilities: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93366

  • Regarding saving songs vs. projects

    Hi,
I am a pianist. I am trying to create some 'ear training' type excersises to then throw in my iPod and listen to. Each "song" would be approx. 5 minutes...basically a single chord played over and over throughout. There are 9 chord types, and 12 keys, so I'm going to need 108 of these 'songs'.
I am planning on just creating these initial 9 songs in the key of C, then transpose them for the other keys using the transpose function.
How should I save these songs? As separate SONGS or PROJECTS? I am just using a Piano Sound in Logic.
Can somebody suggest the easiest, most organized way to do this? And then, is bouncing easy as heck?
    Thanks in advance.

OK lets get some terminology straight here
song..... Main Logic file, containing all MIDI events and parameter settings (including mixer automation data) plus information about the audio files to be played.
project..... In Logic, the top-level folder that holds all media associated with a song, including audio files, Sampler Instruments and samples, Video and Settings of various kinds.
bounce’s....... these are all the different versions of your song. So to save space and time, you are only creating one song, but you will have 108 versions of it
    OK, saving songs vs projects
if you save a song in the main logic song folder, lets call it the common folder for all logic songs, all other data associated with that song will also be kept in common folders with info about all the songs in your common song folder. So if you have many songs you are going to have a lot of information in these folders. And if you need to look at that data some time in the future, you may not remember what is what
Now if you save your song as a project, all info about that song is going to be in the project folder associated with that song alone, separated from all other data. All info in one place. This is handy for guys like me who do a lot of different projects with a lot of different people. Also when it comes time to trash a song, all related material is trashed at the same time, clearing hard drive space. It all comes down to how you like to organize your work space
now even though you have created a song and saved it, you can still save it as a project. It will ask you if you want to move certain files or copy the files to your new projects folder. Move everything except sampler instruments, copy them. that way they stay in the right folder for your next project.
you don’t need separate songs or projects. it will be one song, one project, many variations (all the different keys) all bounced down to your projects bounce folder.
Doesn’t that sound nice and tidy? when you need it later it will all be in one place

  • PLSQL Insert and Special Circumstance

    I am using APEX 4.0.
This one is strange. I have a system used to renew UCC filings, which must be renewed within six months of their expiration. I have a report (UCC Tracker Report) which lists all records falling within this date range. I click a sequence number (column link) for a record and go to a form detail page (UCC Detail) for the record identified by the sequence number. There are a number of data items on this page which will not change with the filing renewal; so I want to carry these data items into the new record. I do this with a button labeled "Renew UCC." It executes a PLSQL process which does two things: (1) it inserts a new record with the data preserved from the old record, and (2) updates the old record with an "H" in the "histrec" column (which makes this record history).
Now, the second part works; the old record is always updated. The first part (the insert) does not work, except under a special circumstance. Back on the UCC Tracker Report page there is a button labeled "Enter New UCC Record." This button calls the same page (UCC Detail) that is called for the renewal, but, of course, since it is for new record, it will have null items. There is a button on it (Return to UCC Tracker Report) which will simply allow the user to return to the report page. If the user goes to this UCC Detail page, then returns to the UCC Tracker Report page, and then clicks a sequence number (column link) to bring up the record for renewal, clicking the Renew UCC button causes the PLSQL to insert the new record. Otherwise, it will not insert.
Somewhere there must be a setting that needs to be changed for this form to operate as intended. Please help.
    **********************************Additional Wrinkle***************************
After posting this question, I tried one more thing. I clicked the "Enter New UCC Record" button to go to the UCC Detail page and then edited the Action on the "Return to UCC Tracker Report" button to clear the cache on this page. After that the PLSQL insert would not work.

    Hi,
The Form page where you Create/Edit does not really come into play in the duplication of record process , unless you are trying to insert a row on that page (which would be bad idea) in the Page rendering side. Analyzing the UCC Detail page may offer clues, but it can also confuse.
Chances are you are inserting a new record while navigating out of the UCC Tracker Report page in a OnSubmit process. And that would be the right thing to do.
You also need to make a distinction between "Row not getting inserted in the table" and "Row not showing in the Edit (UCC Detai)". If the parameter passing from UCC Tracker Report to UCC Detail page is not correct you will not see the newly created row even though it is present in the table.
The scenario you are describing is a routine one.
If you put up this scenario on apex.oracle.com it will be possible to help fix it. Otherwise one can only guess !

  • Random Saved Songs/Albums not playing

About a quarter of my saved songs and albums are not playing back on desktop spotify, Windows 8.1. This is not a sound settings issue, as other albums are playing fine. These songs/albums are not grayed out, they are still officially on spotify. I click play, and the play button switches to a pause button, but no sound comes out and the track time does not progress. I have double-checked my firewall and sound settings and performed a clean installation three times. After the first clean re-install, I was able to play one of the songs that had been broken, but testing a different track still failed, and then the original successful track was broken again too. It appears to be a random distribution of tracks, and not specific to any one artist. These tracks play without error on the Android app.

Well I figured this out on my own- it turns out all of the songs I was having trouble with were songs I also had locally in iTunes, and Spotify was failing to play the local copy. I disabled everything in "Show Tracks from..." and now everything is playing normally.

  • Saving songs to "on-the-road" favorites file...

Can this be done? As I recall, the older iPods had a feature where if you held down one of the buttons you could save favorite songs to a special "on-the-road" favorites folder and I believe the next time you docked your iPod it would save this favorites folder back to iTunes.
    I have a video iPod (5th Generation).
    Thanks,
    Ben

Yes, it's called an on the go playlist.
That playlist will then be transferred back to the computer if you save it on the iPod and have auto sync selected for the transfer of songs.
On the go playlists are not transferred to iTunes if you have the iPod set to manually manage the content.

  • Saving songs that were uploaded by another person to my library

I did not have iTunes on my old computer, so a friend of mine downloaded some songs onto my iPod for me until I could get a computer that would support iTunes.
When I hook up my iPod to my computer, I can see the songs she uploaded under "My iPod" but I don't see them in my library. Is there any way of transferring these songs into my library, as well as saving them onto my computer? I don't want to lose these songs, and I need to save them onto my computer! Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Connect the ipod to the PC, when iTunes opens and you get a promt basicly saying "This ipod is linked to a different library, you want to delete it and resync: HIT NO Rightclick the ipod in iTUnes, hit options, then check "ENable Disk usage" and hit OK
Now you can use third party software like yamipod http://www.yamipod.com to copy songs off the ipod and on to your PC.
Once you do that you can go back and uncheck "Enable disk usage" so iTUnes will auto eject the ipod and you won't have to manually do it

  • Trouble Saving Songs

Im saving audio files from garage band by sharing them or saving to disk.. its seems that every time i do this there is an extra 4 seconds added on to each song i make. I need an exact ending when the instruments end because i am sampling these audio files during live performances. Anyone know how to get rid of this extra time added on? Thanks!

turn on the cycle region button and stretch the yellow bar to exactly encompass what you want to export.

  • Why does my I Tunes play only some of my library when it can't access the external hard drive from which I imported some of the music? My esternal hard drive has been corrupted, but I    thought I Tunes would have "saved" songs I dragged to it.

Some of my ITunes library came from CDs, some from an external hard drive with songs  in it.  My external hard drive went bad, which I wouln't have thought would have affected my Itunes library or the songs I had previously imported to it from the external drive.  But now the Itunes cannot locate many of those songs. Is there some process of importing/saving that is different when you import from CD? Hope someone can help.....MN

    Hi MNinPungo,
When adding music to iTunes from another location (for example, an external hard drive), iTunes can either make a local copy of the file in the iTunes Library or create a pointer to the original file in the original location, depending on the preferences you have set. You may find the following article helpful:
    Add to Library
So you can access content quickly, iTunes indexes all music, audio book, and video files that you add to iTunes. This index is called the iTunes library. When you add content to the library, iTunes adds an entry for each audio or movie file to your index. The files could be in your Home folder, somewhere else on your hard drive, on an external hard disk, or on another computer that you're accessing through file sharing.
To add files to your iTunes library, you can use these options:
Drag files from the Finder to the appropriate icon on the left side of the iTunes window.
Choose File > Add to Library (on Windows, choose Add File to Library or Add Folder to Library) and select the song or folder that you want to add.
iTunes adds entries to your iTunes library for the selected files and copies the files to your iTunes Music folder (if you selected that option in the Advanced pane of iTunes preferences).

  • Saving songs on iPod before reformatting it to new laptop (how?)

So I have a 120GB iPod Classic that was formatted originally on a Mac. All of the songs on that Mac were downloaded. I now have a PC laptop with new songs on my iTunes. I made sure I disabled the automatic synching on the iTunes for my PC. I plugged my iPod into my laptop, and it said I had to reformat it since it was done before on a Mac. I assume that means I need to save those songs on the iPod somewhere else before I reformat it, right? How does one go about doing that? If I bought a portable hard drive, could I download the songs from my iPod on to that hard drive? I can't do anything on my computer without reformatting it the iPod, and I'm worried that means I will lose my songs. Am I being paranoid? What might be the best way to take care of this?

If your iPod is formatted for Mac it won't run natively on a PC because Windows operating systems don't recognize Mac OS-formatted disks (HFS or HFS Plus formats). A portable hard drive would have to be connected to a computer so you could load anything on to it so you'd still be accessing the drive through Windows unless you intend connecting it through a Mac first. There are third party programs that will allow you to use a Mac formatted iPod on Windows. XPlay for instance gets good reviews and has the added functionality to let you copy your songs back to iTunes. Once you have your songs saved to the PC you can go ahead and restore the iPod on your PC and reformat it for Windows. You can purchase XPlay at this link: XPlay

  • [All Platforms][Your Music] Play saved songs without album songs

Sometimes I want to listen to albums, but sometimes I want to list to singles that perhaps I've shazam'd or come across by another method.  In this case, I don't want album songs to interfere.  I think listening to an album is a completely different experience to listening to a set of singles or songs.   Singles are generally upbeat, help me get stuff done.  Albums are generally for long-drawn out moodiness when I'm trying to relax or concentrate. 'Your music/songs' seems to be the ideal place for this, and then perhaps a new option, 'All saved tracks' if you want album songs and single songs combined.

    Updated: 2015-07-21Hi!
Just to make sure that we get your request right: you would like to have a filter in 'Your Music' to only play songs that are Singles? With "album songs" you mean songs that haven't been published as Singles?
