Saving TIFF as single strip

Hi,
i have got a problem in writing a TIFF File in a single strip.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem? Everytime i set the field 0x116 (rows per strip) to the height of the image JAI overwrites this value with 8.
Thanks
Franz

Hi Franz
Just wondering did anyone answer this question for you offline as I also have the problem and am not having much joy in solving it.
Thanks

  • Saved Tiffs will not open in CS2 and generate a "Could not complete your request because of a program error".

this was supplied by Ann Shelbourne.
Saved Tiffs will not open in CS2 and generate a "Could not complete your request because of a program error".
These files will often open in Photoshop 7.0.1 or in CS1 but not in CS2.
The trouble may be caused by bad dates in the EXIF data and can originate from an incorrectly-programmed digital camera; or from a scan that was created after after Jan1 of this year (because of a known bug in some scanner software).
If someone runs into the "Could not complete your request because of a program error" problem, and does not have CS1, try opening the Tiff in TextEdit.
The EXIF data is right at the top. Check the EXIF data for bad creation dates and change any incorrect ones there.
Save and close; and then the file will probably open in CS2 without a murmur.

    > If iPhoto causes problems why not open the images from the Finder?
I get the error if I open a file from within iPhoto using "OPen in external editor" and then alter it (or do not alter it) and try to save it over itself, or save it anywhere else.
I get the error if I do "Show file" in iPhoto to see the file in the Finder. Then, if I double-click and it opens in PS, and then alter it (or do not alter it) and try to save it over itself, or save it anywhere else.
    > And with »save it anywhere« You indicate that You use the Save As-command?
    Right.

  • Having trouble saving tiff files to server

    Hi all,
I'm having trouble saving tiff files to our server (a mac pro running OSX 10.5.7 client not server). I get the error message 'could not save "filename" because write access was not granted. The disk in question is set to ignore permissions and the other 3 Macs on the network have no problems.
Bizarrely this only seems to happen when saving as a Tiff file, I can save as JPEG without issue! The file will usually save after a few attempts, sometimes six or seven save as' are needed.
This problem comes and goes, but at the moment its pretty bad.
This is becomming very frustrating as Tiff is our prefered format and we work as a team so have to save to the server.
    Any ideas?

Just to expand on Buko's correct ansswer, this is the boilerplate text I use in connection to saving to a network (please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe):
If you are opening files over a network or saving them to a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the event you are currently experiencing problems with one or more files. Working across a network is not supported.
    See:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/322391.html
Copy the CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work.   It should.
Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost.

  • Problem in saving tiff from PS

I am using LR 4.1, and PS6 with ACR 7.1, although I have this same issue PS 5.1 and ACR 6.7.  I select "edit in Photoshop", and when finished save as a tiff (same problem with PSD) in the same folder where the raw file (in my case CR2) is.  The saved tiff looks far different from the way it looked in PS.  Typically it is much lighter.  In fact, I can select "edit in Photoshop", do nothing in PS, save as a tiff the same thing occurs.  If I save the tiff to another folder, there is no change.  So, it appears LR is modifying the tiff image in some way when saving.  This is with Windows 7 and ProPhoto RGB in both LR and PS.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Ken Carney

Make sure that in Photoshop you have your color settings right.
In PS go >Edit >Color Settings and select  "Pro Photo RGB" as working space under RGB.
Then under >View make sure that "Proof Colors" is unchecked.

  • Saving tiff or jpg files within a single, existing psd file without creating new files

Hi, I just bought CS5 and I wonder if it is possible to save multiple images that are created within a single psd file in jpg or other image file formats without creating new psd files, but rather saving them as "embedded" within the single psd file in whih they are created. For example, one could select a portion of an image that one has created, and save just that selection as a jpg without leaving the existing psd file, and after that, one could select another portion of the same image and save it as a tiff, etc. Is this possible?
    Much thanks.

    No and Yes!
You can do much of what you want, but not exactly as you described it.  You can certainly make multiple selections and have them saved in the psd file. You can also save jpg version of those selections, but you have to do a little extra work.
Lets say, by way of example, you have an image and you want to make three different selections within that image, save each selection as a jpeg, and save those selections along with the full image as a psd file. You can do the following, which is just one way of several to proceed, with your image opened.
    1. Make selection 1, hit Ctrl+J to jump that selection to a new layer
    2. Make selection 2, hit Ctrl+J to jump that selection to a new layer
    3. Make selection 3, hit Ctrl+J to jump that selection to a new layer
    4. Alt click on the layer with selection 1. This makes only that layer visible.
    5. Click on Layer > Duplicate Layer > destination New > give it a name
    6. This creates a new (temporary document). Open it.
click Image > Trim > transparent pixels
click Save for Web & Devces, select your parameters and save your jpeg
Close and discard this temporary file.
    7. Repeat steps 4,5 & 6 for selection 2 & selection 3
    8. Save your psd file
You now have three jpegs and a psd file with all the information to create or modify the original selections

  • Issue with saving Tiff as JPG

I am an artist who is using Photoshop Elements 4. Recently, my photogrpaher took photos of my work in TIFF format and sent me a CD of the shoot. I opened one in photoshop, edited it and tried to save it as jpg. I kept getting a window which read: Could not complete your request because of a program error.
My photographer and I are confused because this has never happened. I opened up a CD of his photos from a previous shoot to check and see if they could be saved as a jpg and had no problem. He uses a Nikon D700 and has not changed anything else.
This is frustrating because I use these images for my business, etc. Granted, elements 4 is an older program but why now?
    I'd appreciate any help!   Thanks!

There is an asterisk after the 8. Like:  RGB/8*
Since your post my photographer figure out a quick fix for this crazy
dilema. He had me open one of the TIFFS and save it as a PSD. Then, I copied
it and pasted into a new blank file. I then was able to save it as a JPEG.
He and I are still stumped over this but I'll be needed new photos soon and
we'll see if this happens again. Thanks for your help.

  • Saved user patch not saving aux send channel strip settings?

    Hi all,
I was reading the 'Using and saving patches" article in the manual and came across this quote:
"patches also save any aux channel sends that are needed to reproduce the complete patch,"
I was extremely excited and tried to create my own patch. My User Patch saves, and the aux send amounts are in the main channel strip, but the actual bus channel strips are not created.
I noticed that other logic patches actually create the bus strips with their predefined settings when you load them, but I can't seem to get my user patches to do this. Am I missing a step when I save my patch?
    Thanks in advance!
    Robert
    P.S. - if it's useful, I am using Logic 10.0.7 on OSX 10.8.5 on a mid-2012 15" MBP Retina

Just thought I might bump this topic since I have the same problem.  Any suggestions on a solution would be greatly appreciated!

  • Saving tiff from Raw file is very slow (10 min) CS6?

MY OS is 10.7 and using CS 6, Raw 8.3.0 . I am having difficulty saving files from my RAW file, it is now taking up to 10 min just to do a simple save in photoshop. I have 32 GB of Ram and 2700GB on an internal scratch disk. The process of saving will stop at about 50% then stall and at about 8-10 min the file will save as a tiff. What is going on, this just started in the past week?
I reinstalled all programs and OS and updated CS6

Whenever I begin to experience a slow-down in my system (Mac OS) I launch "Activity Monitor" which shows me where all my CPU and RAM resources are being allocated and how much. This is where I will usually find the resource hog. There is probably an equivalent system utility for Windows OS.
The next thing I would check (often alluded to by the resource allocation check above) is what programs are being automatically loaded at launch -- your Start-Up list. For a Mac this can be found in the User info. I believe Windows also has this list, maybe somewhere in the Control Panel.
Next, I will do as R_Kelly suggests and replace my preferences files for both Photoshop and Bridge. I have a good copy of each file saved where I can reload it when necessary.
Last I will do a diagnostic hardware test, available on Mac OS by accessing the recovery disk. Not sure about Windows, probably in System Accessories folder or in the Control Panel. Once I discovered I had a bad stick of RAM memory that was slowing things down and even causing Photoshop to crash. Also check to see if your Scratch Disk is clean and defragmented. I re-formated my Scratch Disk once and that cleared up a problem I was having with Photoshop.

  • Problems saving .tiff file

I am trying to save a .psd to a .tiff file. My .psd has a couple layers and a drop shadow effect. When I save the file seems to be fine until i veiw it in any Windows or Microsoft view, thumbnail view or application such as word, it looks squeezed and totally washed out of colour and almost transparant? I have saved like this before and never encountered this problem. It seems to appear properly when opened in InDesign, Photoshop. I use these photos to send to other people who will be viewing them and using them in Microsoft applications such as PowerPoint, so I'm concerned that it won't open properly for them.
I am using Photoshop CS and Microsoft Windows Windows XP Professionl Version 2002 Service Pack 3. Any suggestions to what might be happening or what I might be doing wrong? help I have a deadline!
    Thanks, Roni

Roni, Powerpoint and some othe MS programs will open a TIFF but they usually only see one layer. Those programs are not designed to handle multiple layers or opacity, or adjustment layers. These all contain prorpietary format that al of the applications in the Adobe Suite can handle, but MS apps can not.
What you can do is place a composite layer as the top layer and save the file.

  • CS6 saving Tiff file only as .pbm

I'm saving a tiff image from an Imacon scanner before opening in ACR and modifying it.
Then, proceeding to Photoshop CS6 for Mac for further modification.  On saving it will only save as .pbm and not .tif.  If I modify the suffix is shows as .tif.
However, it will then not import into LR4.
It will then open in CS5 Photoshop and it also tries to save as a .pbm, but it will easily change to a Tiff suffix and save and then re-open in LR4 as a .tif.
Confusing.  What's wrong and how can I fix it ?
    Thanks.
    Gary

My crystal ball says that you did one of two things:
You copied plug-ins from your older version of Photoshop to the plug-ins folder of the newer version.
Or you set the Extra plug-ins folder to point to the plug-ins under the older version of Photoshop.
You can't mix plug-ins provided by Adobe with the older version of Photoshop up with the newer version.  Weird things will happen, such as what you're seeing here.
You need to undo whichever thing you did above.
To get all your old versions of plug-ins into Photoshop CS6 you need to get new installers, or failing that, isolate JUST the 3rd party plug-ins (excluding any Adobe-supplied plug-ins) and copy them to a new folder from which to access them.

  • MB2320 - Scanning multi-page documents and saving as a single, page-consecutive PDF

I just purchased and set up a Maxify MB2320 to replace my PIXMA MX892, which fell victim to the dreaded "Incorrect Printer Head - U062 Error." My only disappointment thus far is the replacement of "MP Navigator" with "Canon Quick Toolbox" and the unavailability of ADF-AutoDuplex scans. My problem: I've searched the instructions, tried the "Document," "Custom," and "ScanGear" utilities and cannot figure out how to scan multiple-page documents, have the scanned images appear in a single place where they can be put into sequential order, and save the whole mess into a single PDF file that can filed and saved in a folder designated by me. I'd very much appreciate a step-by-step tutorial on how to do that. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your prompt response and suggested solution. It worked! (One of the reasons I got lost is that the CSR I spoke to when I called initially sent me straight to the "ScanGear" tab in the "IJ Scan Utility," rather than "DocumentScan" (not "ScanDocument.") Couple other observations. When I installed the utilities onto my laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium SP-1, the shortcuts were installed to the Hidden Icons Folder in the System Tray, not the Desktop; I can pin the utility to the taskbar or add it to the Start Menu, but I can't create a shortcut for the Desktop by right-clicking. Also, after scanning two double-sided pages manually for the saved PDF, I was able to rearrange the pages into proper order mostly because the pages were graphically distinct enough to tell them apart in the thumbnails. This would be impossible for pages that are all-text, since the thumbnail images are so small. Is there a way to make the utility windows any larger, or otherwise make the thumbnail images readable? Thanks again.

  • Problem with saving TIFF from PDF in Photoshop and importing into Corel

I work at a publishing company, and some of our designers use CorelDraw X14. We receive most of our advertising material in PDF format, which I then have to convert to TIFF in Photoshop (I use CS4). Most of the time this works fine, but lately, the TIFF files appear ragged and very low resolution (especially the text) once they are imported into Corel. When I re-open the TIFF files in Photoshop they seem fine, as well as viewing them with a picture manager program. Does anyone have any idea why this happens, and if the problem lies with the may I save the TIFF files or the way they are imported into Corel? TIFF files created from Corel don't have the same problem.

I concur with Bart - they are using the preview because someoen ticked a wrong checkbox or enabled a fast preview mode... Should print and export without issues, though.

  • Problem in Saving Images in Single Folder in Nokia...

I want to know how to transfer images keeping it in folder. I connect my E63 with USB.I copied my "Photos" folder from my laptop, then opened "File Manager" in Nokia PC suit. There I get 2 options. 1)Memory Card 2) Phone Memory.I select memory card, In that I opened Images Folder which is default in Memory card. I paste My "Photo" folder here in "Images" folder in Memory Card. After disconnecting my phone from USB cable when in my E63 I open Media->Gallery->Images I can see all my images of that folder differently and not in a single folder "Photos" which i pasted. So what should I do?I want all images in folder as I copied and pasted. Am I suppose to create new folder manualy in Phone's Media Gallary? But in phone when I go to Office->File Manager and browse through Images folder of Memory card, I find all images in same folder "Photos" which i pasted(copied), but in Gallary->Images i find all images seperately and not in folder. Hey bro thanks for reply..My main purpose for asking this question was related to xplore only. I tried xplore on my E63. When we hide folder by xplore, we browse through file manager.I mean xplore shows Folders that are in File Manager. After Hiding folder, when I go to Gallery->Images, all the images in folder which I have made hiden, are visible,but...but....all the images are converted in one images. Let me explain, Suppose my folder contains 15 images named IM1,IM2,IM3....IM15. ok. After hiding folder in gallery when i See, there are total 15 images but all are IM1.Again when I unhide folder, its normal. I also tried ticking system option along with hide option in Attributes of xplore as someone suggested me to do so.But didn't worked. My main purpose for asking to move all images into single folder was this only.I didn,t knew you too would be using xplore or else i would have directly asked you this question only.
    Thanks.

  • 10.4.6 & Photoshop CS - crashes when saving .tiff file

    Hello!
my coworker is running a powerPC g4 1.25 running 10.4.6 w/ 2gb RAM. Since he has upgraded to 10.4.6, he has photoshop crash on him most everyday. after hearing him gripe about this, i decided to find a solution. we've tried deleting the preference file, removing questionable fonts, and reinstalling CS to no avail.
here is the error he received today when trying to save a flatted tiff file to his documents folder.

If you have an app regularly crash, it's probably because there is something in the system that has changed that it doesn't like.
    Your options here:
    1) Run Disk Utility and repair permissions.
    If that doesn't solve it
    2) Go Back to 10.4.5 or
    3) Upgrade to Photoshop CS2
