Saving to a folder that is password protected

I've got a script that saves artwork to a public folder but I also need a script that saves the artwork to a folder that is password protected. The username and password is something I would need illustrator to be able to type in before saving is there an option for that? I can't find anything on this anywhere so I'm not sure that it is even a possibility.

Silly-V's suggestion is viable but could even be expanded to monitoring the interim folder in the background and moving them immediately. It may be better, however, to address the core need rather than treat symptoms. Not trying to be funny here, but who is saving the artwork if everyone's at a meeting anyway? Nonetheless, I work on this kind of thing all the time but need some more background. Given the possible sensitive nature of your setup, feel free to PM me if you would like and we'll see what we can do. Once resolved, if possible, you can elaborate publicly on the remedy if you'd like for the benefit of the community.

SAP version 4.7 Email pdf file that is password protected.

We have a requirement:
Email pdf file that is password protected.
Once the user receives the email, clicks on the attached pdf file,
     it should ask the password. Note that Password value should come from SAP.
What we have done is get the spool number and by using function module CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF, it converts the spool document to pdf.
On this function module, there are no parameters to make pdf as password protected and
also include the password. This is the problem.
Question:
   (a) Is there a way to make pdf password protected that will be emailed?
        What function modules, etc to be used? (sample coding if available)
   (b) Somebody mentioned the that Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server should be installed together with SAP.
        If this is installed, how then would be the abap coding be in order to make the pdf password
            protected?
        How is the new policy server gonna be linked to SAP and how do the abap coding gonna be?

No. None of the iWork apps on any platform will open a password-protected Office file. You have to remove the password in Office first.

Share Excel File that is password protected

Hello all
I have published a workbook in our shared area at work. It's massive and also has another workbook linked to it.
Both are password protected so are only available for viewing. But tons of people need to see them particularly the source file which is no problem because they can't change anything so can choose 'read only'.
However the problem is when I need to go in there to make a couple of alteration, I have to wait until they close it or of course as is typical, they will leave their desk and forget to close it!!
I haven't used the sharing workbook option although I've tried it and shown one of our departments to use it basically.
I was wondering if this would be possible on a file that is password protected and is locked on every sheet.
That way I can just go in when I need to even if someone's in there.
This is an extremely important file that
can not go wrong. (I do have a backup)
What are your views on this option and what is the best way to go about it?

Would you like to tell me which Excel version are you using? According to your description, I recommend we try the two methods:
Method 1:
Excel has a feature "Protected the sheet", we can assign the different password to each sheet.

Link to other published web folder from within password protected iWeb site

I realise that you cannot password protect an iWeb site if it contains a link to an external page / file. However, I have a complex genealogy site that I had previously published to another site. I directly copied this folder to the iWeb directory alongside the folder for the protected site published from iWeb. I have tried all sorts of link URLs on the protected site page, trying to link to the genealogy index.html file. iWeb refuses to allow password protection or even point correctly to the site.
Does anyone know how to create a suitable link to a site folder created elsewhere?

I have a password protected site with a page that has a link to an ordinary homepage.mac.com page, with no problems. Could you provide more details on what is not working for you? Maybe putting your geneology folder in iDisk/Sites and linking to that would help?

Prevent Folder Deletion w/ Password Protect on USB?

I've seen similar topics but not specific to my needs. I need to prevent folders on a USB / flash drive from being deleted - hopefully with password protection software or something similar (I've done a million hopeless searches).
MOST IMPORTANTLY, the folder has to be readable by everyone. So, I want the folders to be readable w/out a password, just not able to be deleted on Windows and Mac platforms without proper access. I'm aware of disk image and locking folders in the Info menu - however, you can still dump the files from another computer if it's locked...right? I tried locking my files on my mac but was able to dump them on my pc. Any leads or am I missing something?

I don't think there is anything you can do with software if you want to be able to make changes from your computer. There are some USB drives that have a write-lock switch. If you intent to never change the data, you may be able to permanently lock it by drilling out the switch, putting some epoxy on the switch, or some other means. The other option is to attach an USB extension cable to the USB drive, use the switch to write-lock it, and put in in a small lock box (with a small notch cut in the case for the cable. Small lock boxes are made for keeping emergency keys handy, and for real-estate agents use, so it shouldn't be too hard to find one.
The other option is to use a CD-R disk instead of the USB drive.

I cannot send or receive email attachments that are password protected

I am able to send and receive emails with UN-password protected documents, but ones that have are protected or have protected fields within the document I cannot send or receive. Additionally, I do not get any notification that the email was not accepted; BIG problem!

Have bad virus cannot open firefox or any other exe. file, where within firefox (what does firefox name folder that contains passwords) does it keep my passwords for various bookmarks

because of a virus I cannot open Firefox or nay other exe. file. I need to retrieve my passwords for all of my bookmarks. Where within Firefox can i find the folder that has these passwords, what is the name Firefox gives this folder!!

What is OpachKiru.zipl sbRecovery.reg that is password protected and on my computer ? Avast finds it and cannot get rid of it.

The computer is starting to run slow and initiate restore at startup. Avast virus was run. 8 new password protected files are found. C:P\...\OpachKiru.zip>sbRecovery.reg is one type, with a variant .ini
or I have lzip, or I have 2.zip or 3.zip.
Until these appeared I had no trouble . The internet sites like spybot say they came through firefox. The security of my computer is necessary and I look to you for help since you might be the most aware of this file and its purpose. Thank you

Is it possible to create a mailbox folder that is password protected? That would be invaluable to me!

How about creating an additional computer login account without admin privileges named "Guest" for the occasional user and for a regular user, a login account based on the name of a regular user.
Enable Fast User Switching which makes the process of switching between multiple login accounts a fast and easy process and disable automatic login for your admin account which requires manually entering your login account password during a computer startup, restart and with Fast User Switching.
When stepping away from your Mac, logout from your account switching to the Guest account or just log out. This way all data stored in your Home folder/directory is kept separate, private and protected from other users.
OS X was designed for multiple users of the same computer in this way.

I'm very careful not to install any suspecious 3rd party software.
So far I have verified permissions and fixed some errors there, and changed passwords.
Do I have to erase/format my computer and reinstall the Os? If so is it adequte to use the internet recovery tool or will it use old and possibly infected EFI/Root files?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.

I'm not sure I understand the question when mixed in with CrashPlan.
To the best of my knowledge, CrashPlan files are encrypted before being sent and stored encrypted.
As for encrypting your normal files, then look at System Preferences -> Security -> FileVault, which will encrypt your entire disk. You can Google "FileVault" to find more information.
There is no single file, single folder encryption with password protection by default on the Mac. While you can change file and folder permissions to limit access from well behaved users sharing your system, you cannot prevent another admin on your system, nor a malicious person that gains physical access from bypassing those permissions (as the file is not encrypted, and removing the disk from the Mac it can be read somewhere else).
You can use Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility to create an encrypted Disk Image (also known as a .dmg file). This is basically a file system inside of a container file, and the container file is encrypted. The file system inside looks just like any other file system, and you can store any kind of files and/or folders you like. .dmg files are frequently used to transport files, apps, software updates, new operating system version, etc... between Macs.
You can use an encrypted .dmg to store sensitive information. When you double-click an encrypted .dmg, it will prompt you for the password before mounting the file system inside the .dmg container file.
Personally I use FileVault, and I also use CrashPlan to backup my Macbook Pro to a home Mac mini file server (along with all the other computers in the family).
