Saving to fillable pdf

I have created a form in forms central but cannot save to a fillable pdf. when i click on save as pdf form a very quick satus bar pops up and disappears   i cannot find where the file is saved

Hi;
Are you using FormsCentral in a web browser or from the Desktop application that is included with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI?
If you are using a web browser please try another browser or refresh the browser page and see what happens.  In a web browser you should get a "Download" dialog with a save button that brings up a FIle Save As dialog allowing you to choose the name and location for the PDF...
If you are using the Desktop application with Acrobat, Acrobat creates the PDF so if you have a dialog open in Acrobat that would "block" any new actions so make sure you close any open dialogs in Acrobat and try it again.  Acrobat will create a PDF and then prompt you to save the file.
Let me know which you are using and how it goes.
Thanks,
Josh

  • Saving a fillable PDF so that others cannot edit it

    Hi,
I'm relatively new to using Adobe Acrobat pro, However i recently made a fillable PDF that i need to be able to fill out, then send to clients who can view it, print it but not edit it. Please can anyone advise me how to save the PDF once it has been filled in so others can see the information, but not change anything.
I use Mac if this makes a difference.
    Many Thanks
    Tom

In Acrobat X, first use Save A Copy on the file menu to remove the Reader extensions*, then you can flatten the form using a script or extension (e.g. I've got a free one here) - alternatively you run Tools > Protection > Remove Hidden Information and tick only the form fields box.
*You will need to manually open the copy you saved, it doesn't automatically update in Acrobat.
If you're not bothered about accessibility, you can also print the PDF back to PDF - a process we call refrying - which will flatten everything and remove scripts, metadata, calculations and hidden content (but in the process removes all your tags and structure).

  • Saving a fillable pdf

I want to create a fillable pdf.  I need to be able to email the blank form to users.  I need to be able to print the completed form w/out losing data.  Would like to be able to email the completed form also, w/out losing data.  I don' t need the form data in an xml file.  Help!  What software do I need?

You can use Acrobat to create the form. If you want pre-11 Reader users to be able to save and email a filled-in form, then the document needs to be Reader-enabled, which you can do with Acrobat. Reader 11 allows a non-enabled form to be saved, so there's no need to Reader-enable for those users unless you also need digital signatures.

  • Selectable map not saved in fillable PDF form file

Hi all, I have a problem with a document (it's a book for children) which has been created using InDesign CS6 on Macintosh. I need to make a fillable form (which is not a problem) and I have applied the "Extended Features for Acrobat Reader". I guess the client uses Acrobat Reader for Windows.
The problem comes when the client asks me to include a map where the pupils can select the countries, and that I have solved using buttons that show/hide these countries. It works fine, but when the client fills the form and saves the document, the map doesn't save the selected fields.
How can I make it work properly? I also tried creating a "SAVE MAP" button, but unfortunately, Acrobat only applies this feature to the current state when I create the document, NOT when the client clicks on this "SAVE MAP" button. Is there another solution, please?
And there's still more... In another page, the pupils must select 5 words, and the problem remains the same... the selected fields are not saved.
    I hope I've explained myself correctly, I know it's a bit confusing.
    Thanks in advance!!

If you will be adding up the mileage reimbursement amounts you might need to round the result of the calculation to 2 decimal places and that will require a custom JavaScript calculation. Using unrounded values can result with an answer that does not add up to the displayed value.
Using the simplified field notation also requires that field names meet a very specific format. The field names need to start with an alphabetic character and it cannot have any white space character in the name unless some additional coding is done. These restrictions are a result of processing the formula string with JavaScript and how the data string is parsed for processing.

  • Saving the fillable pdf

Hi this is balaji from solve it corp.I already gone through one post and saw the Lock field and saving it as a new pdfhttps://acrobat.com/app.html#d=*jSHIzy-zFVL-QNo6KCQ1Q.But I am unable to view the scripts.By the way I am using "adobe acrobat pro", there I have only java scripts and Im using the trial version. Can anyone help me to get the scripts for locking the controls and saving the pdf in the "adobe acobat pro".Or is it difficult in using the trial version

    Hi,
You can set up the workspace in LC Designer to suit how you will work on your forms.
Here are some pointers (in particular note 5):
The Hierarchy view is fairly important, as you can select objects on the form and perform actions. For example you can wrap selected objects in a subform or click and drag objects.
    The Objects Library is obvious.
The page layout, where you will work on positioning objects. You can also view the Master Page, the XML Source (you rarely need to go in there) and the Preview.
You can select objects on the page (or in the Hierarchy) and then complete tasks. For example add script into the object's events.
The Script Editor is very important when you want to start adding interactivity. If the editor is only one line high, then I would drag the bottom edge down, so that you can see a few lines at a time. This is where you will select the event that you want to script against (Show dropdown), set the scripting language and where the script will run (client mainly or server). You add script to an object using the Script Editor.
It is worthwhile setting up other palettes, so that they are close to hand. For example, the Object, Layout, Border and Accessibility palettes and the Font and Paragraph palettes.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

  • Saving a fillable pdf form as a non-fillable pdf form in Acrobat

    Hi all,
I have created a form from Acrobat Pro 9 and I would like users to be able to fill out the fields, be able to edit, save it and email them back to me. Although, once it is sent, I would like the form to be locked and non-fillable.
Is this possible in Acrobat Pro 9?
    Thank you in advance.

Use digital certificate signature to lock the fields.

  • Multiple lines in a fillable PDF

I have made and successfully saved a fillable PDF.  I can open it and type in it, but it is in a paragraph form and I can't get the cursor to go from one line to the next.  When I get to the end of line the print just gets smaller.  The cursor does not go to the next line.  I have to click in the next line in order for the cursor to go there.  Since this is not the normal way you type a paragraph, it is rather inconvenient in my document.  How can I get the cursor to go to the next line automatically when typing the paragraph?

Here's a demo that shows how you can use a multiline field and a bit of JavaScript in various events to deal with this if you're not able to change the design of the underlying form: https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=AG6oZ3bi3DYHokxDPeWN7A
Since the primary usefulness of the lines for filling-in by hand, I think it's just fine to obscure them when filling-in electronically.

  • Fillable PDF cannot be saved

Hi there.  I'm using LiveCycel designer ES to create several fillable pdfs and save the fillable pdfs as static forms.  I use acrobat X pro to enable reader extension in order for the users to type in data and save the form, however, the fillable pdf just cannot save the inputted data except the data inputted in the first field.  What did I miss?
    Thanks

    Hi Pguerett,
Thanks for your reply.  It's exactly what you think. The fields are, except the first field, all set to be no data binding.  I reset them to the field names and they are new can be saved.  Thanks a lot.  By the way, I want to have one of the titles to be deleted by the user.  I tried to use checkboxed (set to cross) to do the same but the highlight colour makes them "clouded" and the visual effect is not good.  Any better ideas?

  • Saving to non-fillable PDF

Instead of saving as a fillable pdf, I want to save my form as a static pdf for printing and/or including in white papers as an example. I'd like it to look the same as when I'm creating it in FormCentral with help text symbols, etc. Is there a way to do this, perhaps through the paid version? I have tried to take screenshots of my FormCentral design, but the resolution just isn't good enough.

We do not support exporting into a flat PDF but you can export to a PDF file without a submit button (see under the File menu). We never show (?) in the PDF. The help text is shown when you hover over the field with the mouse.

  • Hello I am having problems viewing areas of a pdf...it's a form fillable pdf that someone else has completed and saved..I'm able to view all but the areas that have been filled in.. any info would help

Hello I am having problems viewing areas of a pdf...it's a form fillable pdf that someone else has completed and saved..I'm able to view all but the areas that have been filled in.. any info would help

Hi Bob, I just tried your suggestion, but the interactive PDF is in spreads by default, no way to change the setting. When I choose to view by single page in Acrobat, it displays a single spread.
When I choose to view by spreads, it displays 4 pages, two spreads. That's the topic of this whole discussion, I believe. I do own CS 6 at home, however my employer supplied me with CS 5.5. And I have very little, if any, influence on purchasing.
So, I have no good way to make an interactive PDF (with differing recto/verso headers and footers), that is accessible and shows the correct header/footer. It's either single pages (with one header/footer), or recto/verso headers/footers but PDF only as a spread, as well as I can tell.
Unless you know something else I can do...
    Best, Marilyn

  • How to allow a fillable PDF to be saved

I have a user that created a fillable PDF file. Now we want to send that out ot staff and allow them to fill it out and save a copy. How do we enable this feature? It currently only allows to print a filled out form or to save a blank copy.
    Thanks,
    Justin

In that case it's under Advanced>Extend features in Adobe Reader.
One thing to keep in mind that there is a limit of 500 uses for these forms. If they are using them internally and have less than 500 employees, they should be in the clear. You can send the form to 500 or less people and they can submit them an indefinite amount of times OR, you can send them to an indefinite amount of people but only collect the data from the form up to 500 times.

  • Saving & Renaming a Fillable PDF

Is there a way to save and rename a fillable PDF form on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 using Android version 4.0.4  I creadted a fillable form from Adobe Pro XI for my techs to use while servicing a A/C system.

    Hi,
When you open the form pdf in your galaxy tab, first rename the document by following the steps below:
In documents tab ->Press Manage on top right->Choose the file you want to rename->Click on rename icon, 3rd from top left->Type the new name-> Press Done.
Now open this file->fill the form->Go back to documents-> Open the pdf again. You will see all your changes in your form.

  • Saving form as fillable pdf

actually have two questions, first can I save my form as a fillable pdf to email others and second how do I arrange my form to have more than one field on a single line?  For instance I am creating a credit application
and want to be able to say put the phone number field alongside the business name and so forth...thanks !!

We just added the ability to distribute your form as a fillable PDF form and have all of the data submitted back to FormsCentral. I wrote up a forum post that explains it in more detail: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/994199
Give it a try and please send us your feedback on it.

  • Fillable pdf's returned by clients are readable only one line at a time

We have been emailing fillable pdf questionnaires to our customers for them to complete and return via email.  When some of them have come
back, they are only viewable one line at a time, we need to highlight the fillable field that the customer completed so we can view their answer.
Does anyone know why this occurs and why it would be isolated to a few cases?  Thanks!
    George

They were probably filled-in and saved with the Preview application on the Mac. For more information and some approaches you can take to correct, see: http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/885/cpsid_88564.html

  • Why can't I create Fillable PDF Forms using Adobe Acrobat X Pro and upload to Dreamweaver?

I can create fillable PDF Forms using Adobe Acrobat X Pro. I can email them to someone using Adobe Reader (free) and they can fill them, save and email to me. But when I upload the form to Dreamweaver CS5, the form is not fillable. And yes, I saved it as a Reader Extended PDF-Enable Additional Features.

I see no reason for this form to fail in Reader. Some questions for you.
    1. On the system with Adobe Reader, what is the system and the version of Adobe Reader?
    2. Are you viewing the PDF in a browser on the system with Reader, or in an Adobe Reader window?
    3. If it's a browser
    (a) what is the browser
    (b) if you download the file instead, and open directly in Reader, what happens?
