Saving voice messages as texts

As a business user I get a lot of voice messages and I find it odd that Orange delete them after 7 days as sometimes they contain important information which I would like to save. If you would like this feature please also send feedback on the Apple feedback site- http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Orange are completely disinterested. As the iPhone is so smart it would seem reasonable to assume that it should at least be able to record voice messages and store them. It's quite a basic aspiration really.

  • I recently swapped providers but didn't think about recording my saved voice messages before doing so.  Is there any way to get those personal treasures back?

Due to family troubles I dropped out of a family plan and picked up with another provider.  I had voices messages of my girls when they were very young on my answering machine that I had saved for years; now I'm unable to access them.  Is there a way to get those back?  Thank you!

    Probably NOT gone yet...
If you hurry you might be  able to get them. They are only saved for so long...
    I was told by verizon:
"You can access your old voicemails by calling 812-320-2957, and just use your voicemail password to access the messages." for a short period of time (mine was 2 weeks, but it may depend on where your bill falls etc...)  This should be the usual password you use to call voicemail.
You will have to use an app to record it or like do it like me.  I'm simply going to put it on speakerphone and record it with my camcorder and another phone...

  • Saving Mail messages as text or rtf to a server makes them invisible

If I save an email message as text or rtf to a LaCie NAS server, the resulting file is tagged as invisible. If I save it to the Mac's hard disk it is not. It's relatively easy to untag the files, but I need to save dozens on some days and it's laborious. Any ideas … ?

It gets worse. I have just saved an incoming mail message with three attached photos. It said it was saving the images (hooray) and it created an RTFD file (folder). However, when I opened the saved document there were no images! Very very odd...
Some readers may think that I must be getting it all wrong and this is just pilot error. I can here reassure them that is not the case; I am a technically competent Apple user of some 25 years' experience. I am not a code monkey though; I can strip down and reassemble a thirty year old naturally aspirated performance engine but I would not be able to do anything under the hood which involved chips and computers!
It is a difficult one to pin down but I will be very interested to know if any other Lion upgraders are experiencing similar problems, however ill-defined.

  • My iphone 4s voice dictation for text messages is not consistently working. Sometimes it works, other times after the dictation it just gives me a blank space. Anyone else having this problem?

My iphone 4s voice dictiation for text messages is not consistently working. I've had the phone since Thanksgiving and it always worked perfectly, but the last few weeks it's been hit or miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Anyone else having this problem? I tried the hard reset but that hasn't fixed it.

I have the same problem since updating to IOS 8.3. Any app to which I want to send a new link via IMessage does not allow me to select a contact to send the IMessage to. Using a pre-existing thread does not have same problem.

Here to help shed some additional light on this case, jdondr. I also own a Maxx. With your phone, if you access the Gallery, there should be a folder named: Messaging.  If you look at the upper left hand corner, you should see a drop down box. Is it currently set to Albums?

Yes.  (ooh, a bad flashback, sorry, I'm better now....)
In Voicemail, go to Voicemail, click the menu button (the button on the bottom left of the phone. Click settings. From there, you can turn on the voicemail notification and select which notification tone you wish to hear when you are notified of a voicemail.
In text messaging, it depends on which app you are using, the stock messaging ap or another 3rd party app from the market. But getting the notifications turned on is gonna work kinda the same (yeah, that was coherent, eh?).
Open whatever messaging app you are using, and on the main page, click that wonderful menu button at the bottom left of the phone. A settings menu for the messaging app will open and somewhere in that settings menu will be a place to turn on and off the notifications for that messaging app. Once you've turned on the notifications, you'll see a place somewhere in he settings that allows you to select which notification tone you wish to play when you get a message.
It might be worded a little differently among the various apps (I'm familiar with the stock app as well as Handcent, my personal favorite, and GO messaging, which is good, also), but you should be able to figure out what you need to do pretty easily once on the settings menu.
    Hope this helps,

  • I just got my iphone yesterday and have no idea how to work it since it doesn't come with an owners manuel. I was wondering if there were any way of saving the audio attachments from multimedia messages or text messages as ring tones??

Is there any way to save audio attachments from multimedia messages or text messages as ringtones so I can set them to specific contacts on the iphone 3gs??

You have to create iphone ringtones.
There are many free ways to do this.  Google will find them.
Click Support and the top of this page, then Manuals, then iphone user guide to find the manual, or look at your bookmarks on the iphone.

  • I want to save some voice messages.

I want to permanently save some voice messages from my phone. I've been looking for an answer as to how I'm going to be able to do this. I want them saved on a different media so I can erase them off my phone.
The voice messages are proof for something. Will I be able to download them to a thumb drive or even into my email somehow?
    I would appreciate any feedback.

Are you using Verizon's voicemail system? If so, it will most likely cost you some money to have these messages saved.
    From Verizon's voicemail help pages
"Can I have a permanent copy made of a Voice Mail message?Yes, permanent copies of your Voice Mail messages can be made in many ways but you can have CBW Productions, Inc. make a copy for you at a minimal fee. Go to CBW Productions and select the format you wish to use for your message archive. This is not a Verizon Wireless service and before any Voice Mail messages can be copied, you must register with CBW. If you do not have Internet access, you can contact CBW directly and place a phone order Monday through Thursday between 9am - 5pm EST and Friday 10am - 4pm at (800) 770-8046 or (877) 244-3222.Note: In order to have a copy of your message(s) made, you will be asked to provide CBW Productions, Inc. with your mobile phone number and Voice Mail password so they can access your mailbox. The message(s) you wish to have copied MUST still be present in your voice mailbox. If a message has already been deleted, it cannot be retrieved or copied. Your Voice Mail messages cannot be enhanced; therefore, any copies will be exactly what you hear in your mailbox; if the message that was left for you is garbled, the copy of the message will be as well. This archival service is not available for SMS (text) messages. CBW also provides Notary services for Voice Mail messages that are being archived.Back to top
How much does it cost to have a message copied?Messages saved as MP3 files and delivered via email*
Cost = $10.00 for the first message, and $5.00 for each additional message.
*Due to firewall restrictions, etc., there is a limit of 10 messages per mobile phone number, and no more than 10 minutes recording time, per month for MP3 delivery. Orders will be processed within five business days from the time that the order is placed, excluding weekends and all holidays.Messages saved to CD or cassette
From the time you place your order, your CD or cassette will be recorded and shipped to you within five business days, excluding weekends and all holidays.
    Number of Messages

    $18.00
    4-6
    $28.00
    7-10
    $38.00
    11-21
    $53.00

    $58.00
Each additional message above 22 messages
    $5.00
    Additional Information:
All prices listed above include CD or cassette tape and do not include shipping. USPS First Class mail with Delivery Confirmation, USPS Priority Mail, USPS Express Mail & FedEx is available upon request and requires additional shipping charges.
There is no longer a limit on how many messages we can record for a customer.
Maximum recording time per cassette is 50 minutes; for CD is 60 minutes.
Message recordings in excess of 60 minutes will incur additional processing fees of $100 per hour (billed in 15-minute increments).
Notary letters = $20 per order (one notarized letter will be sent and will cover all messages archived as part of that order).
Rush service is available for an additional cost of $20.00 which will place your order to be the next in line to be recorded, rush delivery options are also available for an additional cost."
Of course, if you are using a different voicemail service such as Google Voice or Youmail, you can simply save the MP3 file.
Another option would be to use a jack going from your phone to your computer to record the voicemail as it is playing on your handset.
    Good luck.

  • I have a new iPhone 5 and receive the following message when texting some people within my contacts.  Message sent using invalid number of digits please resend using 10 digit number or valid short code Msg:2114

I have a new iPhone 5 and receive the following message when texting some people within my contacts.  Message sent using invalid number of digits please resend using 10 digit number or valid short code Msg:2114. Online I found a discussion that stated i needed to delete contact and re-add. I have done that to no avail. Any ideas?

I had the same issue with the iPhone 6 and tried everything!  I now understand that at some point I stored a number for a contact without including the area code and sent a text message.  So, to correct the issue, you must literally "erase" all references to the contact, not just the number.  Deleting the contact and entering a new one is not enough because the iPhone stores references to that number in multiple places.  The steps below worked and are very simple:
    1) On the contact screen, delete everything stored for that number.  You can't just edit the contact to fix the problem, so write down or record the info somewhere before you complete this step.  Choose edit and then select DELETE to eliminate the entire contact which means home, work, cell, email address, etc.
    2) Delete the entire string of messages you sent to that number.  That's every single message...
    3) Now delete the entire string of invalid 2114 messages you received after your text(s) failed.
    4) Finaly, remove the contact from FAVORITES if you saved it that way.
    5) To validate that all this worked, simply go to the keypad or contact screen and enter the number associated with the contact to verify successful removal.  I used the keypad and dialed to confirm.  If the contact number still shows up, you need to go back and recheck your steps.  Trust me, I had to do this a few times.
Several posts suggested that you should  reset and turn off your phone.  After following these steps, it was not necessary for me to reset or turn off my device.
is there a much faster way to achieve the same results?  Probably, but this was safe for an iPhone novice and may help you avoid inadvertently deleting other contacts or replacing factory settings that you need.

  • Multipart message has "text/plain" content type.

    Hi all,
I am developing an application which can send and receive email messages including attachments.Because i dont have easy access to real mail servers at the moment, i am using my laptop to test everything("localhost"). my code so far have been able to send, receive and display text messages. it can also send email messages with attachments. The problem comes when i want to retrieve the attachment messages from the "multipart" message. message.isMimeType("multipart/*") returns false and getContentType() method on the message returns "text/plain". as a result my code can not start retreiving the attachments.
I saved the email message after Transport.Sent(mymsg). Content of the file looks like bellow.

I can also see the received messages in the inbox( JAMES mail server is in my local machine). when opened using notpad, content of these messages is same as the content of the sent messages.
I am a biginner to java mail(using 1.4.1). so any kind of help would be appreciated. can this problem be linked to using my local machine as mail server or what? I have uninstalled AVG antivirus thinking that it can be interfering. but to no vail. am really stuck at the moment.
    Regards

Are you sure you're using JavaMail 1.4.1? It looks like you're running into
an issue that existed back in JavaMail 1.2. How are you saving the message
    to the file?
Try call msg.saveChanges() before sending the message.
Also, try using the demo programs that come with JavaMail to see if they're
    working correctly, e.g., msgmultisendsample.java.

  • New voice message tune

How do you set the new voice message tune for the 8310?  I know how to set the SMS message tune which seems to be the same as the voice message tune.  Is this even possible on this phone to have 2 different tunes for the SMS and new voice message?

The SMS Text notification tune is the same one used for Voice Messages. There isn't a way to change it.

  • Saving/Commiting the Long Text

    Hi,
I am trying to save the long text created in a Z Transaction (Table Control). While saving it, I am getting the message as “Text Saved". But It is not actually stored in SAP. I am not sure, what is that I am missing. I am using the SAP Standard Routine to Save the Long Text. I am also calling the FM: COMMIT_TEXT explicitly after the long text is saved. Can any one please suggest me, what should I do to commit the long text in SAP?
    Appreciate Your Help.
    Thanks,
    Kannan

May be my earlier post was confusing, I was asking you to set the Insert parameter to SPACE and the Savemode_direct to 'X' and see if it works or not.  I had the same issue and resolved it using the above parameters.  Also try and see if Srinivas's suggestion in the following thread:
