Saving wave files in STP editor

I have this problem which is very annoying. I have sampled some sounds from my hardware synth, logic playing the synth from every key and recording it. Then I edit the big soundfile in Soundtrack Pro's audio editor and save every single sample as separate .wav-file. I select every sample in the big file with mouse and open as a new audio file, then cut it, fade in and out and save.
The problem is that when I save this new audio file from the STP editor, no matter what save function I use, I always have to choose the quality when saving. By default, STP wants to save the file as a some kind of audio project file (.stap) and I have to change that to "wave" and then select the bitrate from 32 to 24. And I have to do this _every time_ I save a new sample which is recorded from a different key!
Am I doing something wrong or why doesn't STP remember my settings when I save? This behaviour makes my working very slow. When saving, I would like to only type the name of the file and press save because I use the same quality settings every time.
In fact STP remembers the quality settings if you open a wave file, do some editing and then save it but if you copy a section of the file to a new file and try to save it, STP defaults to a stap-file.
And another thing... Every time I save something from the editor, STP asks whether I want to flatten the project (all the edits) or not and I always press "yes". I hope there was a check box that I could choose that STP remembers my decision because of course I want to apply all the edits I made.
I have not noticed this kind of behaviour with any other sample editor, like soundforge, wavelab etc.
I use STP version 1.0.3. Does the UB 1.1 version fix these or is there any solution?

Hi Aarav,
Check the internal table used to store the text is having line length 100. Change that to 200 or more . You can see the difference . If still the problem persists, enter each line in the text editor and conclude each line with a carriage return( ENTER )
key press.
Hope this will help you.

  • Loss of cues marks when saving WAV files in Acrobat 1.5

    I have been using Audition 1.5 for several years, but today I have been experiencing a new and fundamental problem.
    After downloading an MP3 file and converting it to a Windows PCM WAV file using Audition, I have inserted cue (track) marks.  When I save the resulting WAV file containing the cues, then close out of the file and reopen it, I find that the cues have disappeared.
    Only last week did I do the same thing to some other MP3 files, and I did not have this problem.
    Has anyone had this experience, and if so, how was the problem solved?

    When you open the Save As page is the box in the lower left corner (Save extra non-audio information) ticked?

  • Reading and saving wave files as .txt

    I am a highschool senior working on a musical analysis problem. I am afraid my Java isn't all that great. The nitty-gritty is I need a squential representation of the ampiltudes of a sound file( .wav of course) at the frequency at which is was recorded. If I am not mistaken the advantage of the wave format is that it is just that a list of integers corresponding to the ampiltude of the sound file at the recording frequency. So my job is read the array of bytes in the sound file and write them to a .txt file so that I can run other programs which I have already gotten.
    I am currently trying to work with the Javax.sound.sampled API.
    My code sorta goes like this:
    public class analyse
    public analyse()
    AudioInputStream stream = AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream(new File("audiofile"));
    DataLine.Info info = new DataLine.Info(Clip.class, stream.getFormat(), ((int)stream.getFrameLength()*format.getFrameSize()));
    Clip clip = (Clip) AudioSystem.getLine(info);
    WriteArray();
    readArray();
    line.drain().stop();
    public writeArray() {
    int numRead = 0;
    byte[] buf = new byte[line.getBufferSize()];
    while ((numRead = stream.read(buf, 0, buf.length)) >= 0) {
    int offset = 0;
    while (offset < numRead) {
    offset += line.write(buf, offset, numRead-offset);
    I had a friend suggest something like that and That wa just the bare bones of the program. readArray() would of course take the array and, using an iterator, write it to a text file.
    However, I've also come across this code while looking thru the API
    AudioInputStream stream = AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream(new File("audiofile"));
    stream.read(byte[] b, int 0, int stream.frameLength()*stream.frameSize());
    this I actually understand better, but I cannot get it to work.
    If anyone could help me with this, I would sorely appreciate it.

    Do you have QuickTime Pro? What "audio file" types are you referring to - MP3, WAV?

  • Streaming wav files once edited won't work in flash

    I need some help with streaming wav files in flash. I can load a wav file and stream it ok using actionscript 3 into my fla file. However if I go to edit the wav and make it shorter the saved wav file will not play. I have used a trial version of soundbooth to see if I could somehow change the settings for the wav but I still cannot make it work. It will stream as an mp3 but I want the file to loop and need the file to be wav. I have attached the file. I have no problem when I upload the file into the fla file but that is not what I want to do.
    Can anyone help me.
    Cheers.

    Thanks for the input however I had already tried a variety of combinations. But I did go through it again.
    The Flash Player supports 8-bit or 16-bit audio at sample rates of               5.512, 11.025, 22.05, or 44.1 kHz. I have tried all permutations of wav from 8 bit to 16bit and the all sampling rates from 11.025. The original file is attached at it was at 32000hz. Nothing I can do will make these play in flash once edited. I am using soundbooth howeve I have used audacity and wavepad. I have removed the metadata tags as that was suggested in one of the forums. I have attached the original files and the shortened file that I cannot get to work. I went into Soundbooth and went through all the preferences and checked the box where it asked for FLash compaticble at 16bit 44 hz etc. This is really frustrating. I know wav can be streamed.

  • How to convert RAW files that saved in UCCX server to wav file?

    Hi all,
    How we can covert the RAW files that are saved in UCCX server to wav file by using command prompt in UCCX servers. Or is there some other way? So that we should be able to hear the sound of these files.

    Hi,
    I use Switch File Audio Convertor from NCH Software to do this.
    It is a commercial product but there is a time limited evaluation and if you decide to keep it it is only $30.

    It is great for converting audio files to the correct format for music on hold as well.

  • Why can't one add artwork to music saved as a wave file

    i can add scanned artwork to an entry in itunes only if it is saved as an AAC or MP3 file but when i try and save scanned artwork to a wave file, it doesn't afford me that choice.....any reason that would be?

    It's the way WAV file formats were designed years ago by Microsoft. It's not just itunes that can't add artwork to the actual file; no jukebox player software can add artwork tags to WAV files.
    If you want artwork to display in itunes for WAV files, you can get the artwork from the itunes store if
    1) you have an itunes store account
    2) that album is sold is your country's itunes store
    itunes will store the artwork in some special folders outside of the WAV files, and use the itunes database file (ITL file extension) to find them as needed.
    For albums not in the itunes store, you have to do something like this

  • Why is it that when I saved the waveform of my acquired signal into a wav file, the output waveform of my saved file turn out to be different from my input signal?

    Hi all,
    I am currently doing a heart sound analyzer project. I acquired signal using NI USB 6008 continuosly. My program is able to saved the acquired signal into a wave file. But when I browse open the saved file, the output waveform did not look the same as the acquired input signal and also the sound of the heartbeat captured cannot be heard from the loud speaker though I have saved the file as a wav file. I am not sure if the method i use to save the acquired data as a wav file is correct.  I have attach the print screen of the differences of the output I have notice and the program I have created. I would be glad if anyone here is able to troubleshoot my program.
    Thanks.

    Hi Brett Burger,
    Thanks for your reply. For your information, I have set the sampling rate as 10000 as for the sound format, I have set the bits per sample as 16 bit, the rate as 11025 and the sound quality as mono. I tried using your method by changing the sampling rate as 8K but still my program encounter the same problem.
    I wish to also create a button that is able to generate a preformatted report that contains VI documentation, data the VI returns, and report properties, such as the author, company, and number of pages only when I click on the button.  I have created this in my program, but I am not sure why is it not working. Can you help troubleshoot my program. Or do you have any samples to provide me. Hope to hear from you soon.
    Many thanks.

  • Importing WAV files that have been modified with a sound editor

    I tried importing a WAV file to Itunes which I had modified with a fade out effect to remove talking at the end of the song. When I played the song back in Itunes (after importing), the edit effect was ignored. Is there a way to import songs into Itunes so modifications done with a sound editor will be recognized?

    Well, iTunes has no ability to undo edits, so the problem may lie elsewhere. Please try the following extra-extra-careful procedure:
    - Edit the file and save it.
    - Exit the editor.
    - Make sure you know filename/location of the edited file, and that you are not confusing it with some unedited copy of the same song.
    - Play the edited file in some other player than iTunes and make sure the edits are as you wished.
    - Now, add the file to your iTunes library.
    Pls try this and let us know.

  • Saving a linearised .wav file?

    I'm using imovie HD 6.0.
    When I save an audio file as a .wav, does it save as a linearised .wav file auotmatically, or do I have to make that change manually?

    i want the code for saving a vector to file, and then loading the file back into a vectorThen you'll have to write something like:
    void saveVector(Vector<SomeObject> vect, File someFile) {
        get output stream writer for someFile;
        for each object in vect {
            write object to stream;
        close stream writer;
    Vector loadVector(File someFile) {
        get BufferedReader for someFle;
        while read next line {
            parse line into object
            put object in vector
        close reader
    }You could also save your objects to XML (especially if your object has a lot of references to other classes)

  • What happened to all the compressors when saving a wav file?

    When saving a wav file in Soundbooth CS3 you had your choice of 7 different compressors. In Soundbooth CS4 you can only save a wav file uncompressed. My office has to save wav files using the CCITT u-Law compressor for uploading to Verizon's VoIP system when we create auto-attendant messages.
    I could download a program that will save audio files into other formats, including the CCITT u-Law format, but I would prefer to just use Soundbooth and copying the CompilerWave.prm file from CS3 into CS4 doesn't work. Is there any way to get these compressors back without having to use another program?

    Hi,
    Several of the WAV compressors available in Soundbooth CS3, including the CCITT u-Law, will be available soon. There were some issues with including them in CS4, but those problems have been resolved. I apologize for the inconvenience. On the upside, the codecs are now faster and several bugs were addressed.
    I'll post an announcement here when this is available, and I believe it will show up in the Adobe Updater tool.

  • FINDING, TIME STAMPING, AND SAVING SELECTED PORTIONS OF WAV FILE

    Hello Everyone,
    LV 6.1
    What I'm trying to do is build an app that
    captures, timestamps and saves peaks only in a *.wav file from the sound card.
    Specifically, dog barking.  My dream would be that I have a constant input
    from a mike into the sound card which LV will real time analyze. When a threshold is triggered
    (a dog bark) the app will save the bark only with a time stamp.  My case against
    my neighbors would be better exemplified is I were able to present them with a
    time-of-day graph with tic marks at each bark and a cd they could listen to of
    the barks only.
    Explorations so far:
      The sound VI's don't have time stamp outputs
      I have searched the knowledge base and found a few apps but came to a dead end with my knowledge
      I have experimented with various waveform analysis vi's but can't find the combo that gives me what I'm looking for
    I can handle the post processing of graphs / spreadsheets but the waveform analysis for capturing the bark is eluding me. If someone could just get me started I could run with it but so far I ain't smart enough.
    Thank You...........

    Hi rscully,
    I think a great starting place is the "Sound Input to File.vi" example found in the Example Finder. Since the output is waveform data, you should be able to extract the timing information from the waveform data. Try using the "Get Waveform Components" function. If that doesn't work for you, you may also want to just grab the time stamp from the system clock with the "Get Date/Time String" function.
    To record the bark, you can perform signal processing to match the bark frequency. The first thing that comes to mind, is to record a bark, analyze the power spectrum to find the peak power at a specific frequency range. Then in your program, you can find the power spectrum for that specific frequency range, and if the peak within that range exceeds a threshold, record the bark and time-stamp. This method should be simple if you have the NI Spectral Measurements Toolkit. See this tutorial.
    Once you have verified that a bark has occurred, you may want to record the previous bark sound data and the post bark sound data. This will ensure that the entire bark is captured in a sound file. I have edited the "Sound Input to File.vi" example to demonstrate this. Please see the attached picture. I hope this helps!

  • Saving images with an associated .wav file

    Occasionally I will create a voice note with an photograph - this is to identify a species or note a location.
    Is there some way to (automatically) tag all my images which a sound associated with them?
    Thanks

    Thanks, Steven. But that's not it. Here's some new information:  The camera
    I was using (Panasonic HVX 200) had the frame rate set to 720 30pn.
    However, the "scene file" mistakenly applied listed 24fps. Premiere Pro
    thinks this footage is 29.97. Is it possible that it's actually 24fps and
    that's why it's about 25% shorter than the corresponding .wav file? If so,
    is there a way to "fool" Premiere Pro into slowing down the footage?
    Unless I'm off the mark completely. It's been known to happen.......

  • WAV files not opening.

    I got a project from an editor that had some SFX WAV files in it. After I sent the project to STP it kept asking where these WAV clips were. I kept locating the clips and it kept asking me to locate them. I eventually tried skip all.
    I looked at the WAVs in Finder and even previewed them in Finder (via spacebar) and they look OK. So what, my friends, could be STP's issue with these WAV files.

    I apologize, I have two discussions going about this at one time and forgot that this thread didn't mention that STP just won't open the file at all in a project or as a stand alone audio file.
    I have now verified that the files are bad. I was able to open them in SoundForge on a PC and simply re-save them. The newly saved versions open in STP just fine.

    How can I convert an AiFF File to a Wav file?
    Any free software out there? or can iTunes or Quicktime perform this task?
    -D

    or can iTunes or Quicktime perform this task?
    Yes to both.
    In Quicktime Export -> Export Sound to Wave
    In iTunes, check your preferences for General>Import and then right click on the file to convert to WAV
    Also STP can do that.
    Double click the file to open it in the File Editor and Save as, then select Wave as the filetype.
