Can you save version files while testing what works best. can you make up several different webistes and load the one to use at any point in time ??
My website is slow loading and want to see how to speed up ?

Stopped saving websites and passwords, none of the existing forums fix this problem (Firefox 8)

Firefox 8 (both laptop and desktop) have stopped asking and/or saving websites and passwords.
Forums refer to earlier versions but none of the solutions have made any difference. This is very frustrating as this is an important feature.

Before you go to the store, make an appointment with the resident "Genius." There is no charge. In the meantime...
If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, read this.

Error while saving a version

Hi ,
I have susscefully restored and backed up a version but while saving the version in Target environment I get error like.
Error message:14090:cannot mark version 740 as deleted.it does not exist in repository.
Please advise.

A couple of methods.
The first is to copy 2 files, key3,db and signons.sqlite from the profile folder of the old computer t the profile folder of the new computer. For details of how to find the profile folder see the [[profiles]] article.
The second method is to install the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2848/ Password Exporter] add-on on both computers and use that to export/import the passwords.

Problems with saving and versions

i know you're all preparing popcorn for the iPhone release, but maybe one or two have got a minute to read this and help me
i'm using lion for a while, and ever since i'm losing files.
my problem is not the system, maybe i just didn't get how to use it, but i'm blaming having lost my files. :/
so, there's versions, and autosave. but simetimes i dran 'n drop a file i'm working on trom my taskbar (the little icon next to the filename) to my desktop. sometimes, but not always, it's corrupted. i don't always notice right away, so when i close the document (without saving of course) it's just a file icon, but there is no possible way to open it without getting a message.
i don't know if i'm not using it right, but "they" say you don't have to save your files, they say your files are saving versions, but so many times i can't go back to a version.
also i'm using a lot of photoshop, and just now something happened, and not for the first time:
i opened up a .psd that i was working on yesterday. when i wanted to save it (with crtl-S), it said "Could not save *documentname*.psd because the file is already in use or was left open."
of course the file is in use and open. how does the mufassa expect me to save a file without opening it up? and why would i save a file without using it before? this is not the first time, and i always have to save it using a different name, and then delete the old file...
i might have a thinking problem, but maybe you can still help me out?
can someone update me on how to optimize my workflow, so i can spend more time working, and less time looking for files or restarting documents?

This seems to infer that you are sharing the same project with another person? If I'm correct in my understanding, there are two major things wrong here.
1. You cannot share a project in a fashion where two or more users make edits to it at the same time. Doing so is an open invitation to disaster.
2. In order for two or more users to have access to the same Captivate project, it would have to exist on a network drive. Editing projects while they are stored on a network resource is another open invitation to disaster.
The bottom line here is that Captivate files must be edited from the local C drive by a single author. You may copy them to a network location for the purposes of backing them up, but that's it.

PSE 12.1 not saving in version set

I have been successfully using PSE 12.1 on Windows 7 since last August. However I've started having problems in the last 2 or 3 days. I start the Organizer and select a photo to edit. When I "save as" I get one of two results. In the first case it saves the photo in the proper folder but it does not create a version set with the original. In the second case, the editor locks up and eventually I get a message saying the editor is not responding and windows is looking for a solution. Usually it saves one photo as in case one above, and then fails to respond on the second photo and I shut it down. Over the past 2 days I have uninstalled PSE 12 and reinstalled 3 times, upgrading to 12.1 each time., but I get the same result. Any ideas what is causing this?
Update: I've given up. Uninstalled for the last time; purchased PSE 13; everything working with new version.

Today's state of the problem seems to be that this happens not only with saving in version sets in PSE12, but also on simple saves with 'include in the organizer' checked.
It happens on previously converted catalogs, not on new ones.
It happens when the process 'elementsautoanalyzer.exe' is running (you can 'kill' it from the Windows task bar, but you must do it every time you start the organizer. Deleting or renaming this file seems to work.)
This seems also to be a problem for people using the 'watched folders'.
So, to prevent the problem : kill the elementsautoanalyzer.exe every time you start the organizer.
To recover the edited files not included in the catalog, do a manual 'get photos and videos' from the already gotten files.
It's important to do so, otherwise the edited files won't be catalogued and be missing if you do a backup.
If necessary, use the automatic stacking feature by visual similarity to stack your originals with your edited versions, since you can't create version sets.
If you can share your experience on the above feedback link, please do it and add your vote.

IWeb app went back to my old website version

Dears,
I'm using iWeb 2.0.4
Seems since the MobileMe update of my iWeb, the application restored a very old version of my website.
Because I didn't publish my website since this problem happened, I still have the "new" website version available on the web: http://web.mac.com/daniel.daplincourt/daniel.daplincourt/Bienvenue.html
But the one on my iWeb app has nothing to do compare to the one on the net.
I can't imagine to have to entirely re-create my website... :-S
I already had this problem when I upgrated my iWeb to 2.0.3. Which was resolved with the 2.0.4 version.
But now, I do not have any new iWeb 08 upgrade available to eneventually fix this problem.
Does somebody have an idea on how to fix this, so my iWeb application presents me the newest version of my website (the one on the net)?

You need to find your domain file for your new site which is located under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites file.
If you do not have this domain file then you will have to re-create your site.
This is why you need to backup your domain files before altering or updating or upgrading anything to do with iWeb. It is always a good idea, because if you loose them because of it, you have no alternative but to re-build your site.

Saving multiple versions of photo in iPhoto

Hi, I am just begiining to use iPhoto on my new Macbook Pro. I have two questions related to saving multiple versions of the same photo:
After editing a photo I have noticed there is no Done or Save or Save As options. All I see is back and forward arrows to go to a diferent photo. This bothers me in severasl ways. I may want to save the edited picture as some other revision without loosing the original. How do I do it? Also how to save multiple versions of edited files say version 1, 2, 3 etc? This is a very simple thing in most PC based photo editors but I cannot figure out in iPhoto. Not sure why Apple wants to be different each time.
Actually I have similar issues on iPad too so if you can answer th same question on that device also, I appreciate.

As Larry said, iPhoto '11 on your Mac has a lossless workflow and will always save the original master image file in addition to your edited version. If you want to store more than one edited version of a photo, duplicate the photo before editing it, see: iPhoto '11: Duplicate a photo http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2408

With Photo on your iPad you also have a lossless workflow and can undo all edits and revert to the original. You can save several edited versions of the same photo to the camera roll. See the iPhoto help for iPad: http://help.apple.com/iphoto/ipad/1.1/#blnka97fbb1f on editing photos.

Safari 7 not permitting saved websites/favorites

Since upgrading to Mavericks/Safari 7.0, I am unable to retain saved websites. When I quit and restart Safari, the websites are gone.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Show Info in Finder (or just Show Info)
from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open.
Does the dialog show "You can read and write" in the Sharing & Permissions section?
In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
What is the Modified date?
If you don't have read and write access to the item, change the settings as directed here. Note, however, that if one file has wrong access settings, most likely others do as well. If the item is locked, unlock it.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Open a TextEdit window and paste into it (command-V). Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.

Open a VI in LabVIEW 5.1 that was saved in version 6.1

Does anyone know if it is possible to open a VI saved in LabVIEW 6.1 with version 5.1? I have come across some VI's that were either saved in version 6.1 or they were created in that version. Our computers are running Version 5.1 currently. If they can be opened in ver. 5.1 would they run ok in that version? Thanks

Each LabVIEW version can go back one step uing "save for previous". You need LabVIEW 6.1 to save them in 6.0 format. Then you need LabVIEW 6.0 to save them for LabVIEW 5.1.
Unless they use new 6.0 or 6.1 specific features, they should run just fine in LabVIEW 5.1 once converted.
If you want, you can post your VIs here and somebody will probably convert them for you.

To get back to MobileMe you need to log off iCloud and login to MobileMe.
If you need to get anyfiles before MobileMe closes down you can use the Finder Go menu and follow the path iDisk/My iDisk. You website files are in the Web/Sites folder.
iWeb offers two other ways to publish...

Help with m.website versions on safari on my iPad.. Help

My question is a bit diff bit you might be able to help me never the less. I just don't get m. Site versions).. I dont like the m. versions on safari when I use facebook for example. As of today every time I log into Facebook from the safari website it looks like the app version, which is odd. It never did that before. I looked at the browser bar and it shows http://m.facebook.com and not http://www.facebook.com as it used to show and be on my safari browser
. How do I get ride of the automatic m.facebook and go back to www.facebook.com version Does it make sense? Please HELP maybe you can help. I use iPad.

Hi Jonathan, first, at the bottom of the safari "web browser" it doesn't give me the version of full site or desktop browser. It usd to until tonight, which is what's odd.

4th, I have download chrome and now it's using full website version and no the (m. Version) on Facebook, only downside that chrome is very slow...
Facebook was always identifying it self as iOS safari yet I could still used he full version on the browser, now it doesn't work. And it always shows www.m.blahblah.com etc... It used to always show. Www.blahblah.com without the m. I front. That is what is bothering...

Firefox saving double version of the same webpage in a single file

About one year back, I saved a webpage as webpage complete, that is, as a HTML file and a folder containing associated files. Recently I added mozilla archive format add-on. I revisited the webpage and it has changed a little bit, for example the picture in the heading and another picture in the body of the page. Now I saved this changed webpage as a single file, in MHT format. Now when I am opening the MHT file it is showing the previous version of the webpage, and at the top it is showing 'saved from: file:///G:/Document/Religion/filename'. When I move the file in another drive or folder firefox opens the changed version of the webpage and at the top 'Saved from: http://mukto-mona.com/bangla_blog/?p=28719, that is url of the webpage. When I move the file in G it again shows the old version. One word more, I downloaded all files and temporarily saved them in C drive. Later I moved them elsewhere. As you can see this above file I saved in G drive. I tried clearing cookies and histories of firefox and browsing history in Windows internet options. Problem is not going. I do not know whether it is a cookie problem, but I placed the question here.
Though I mentioned about a single saved file just for instance, actually the problem showing for several files. Thanks in advance.
