Saving with adobe reader 9 or later

I am creating a form using livecylce designer and want to give users the ability to save the form. Though, adobe reader 9 or later only allows a blank copy of the form to be saved. Is there a way to allow them to save the data they enter into the form, i.e. how can I give them permission to save those changes?

The Adobe LiveCycle forums.
They are not enabled by default no. You need to do that first plus there are some criteria as to how they are used (the big one is the usage limit of 500 submissions).
I directed you to the Livecycle forums in case there is a different way to do it with that product (I don't use it myself). In Acrobat, you simply go to File>Save as other>Reader extended pdf>Enable more tools.

  • Forms built with 9 not saving with Adobe reader X

I have many computers that are running Adobe reader X.  when they are attempting to save a form that was built in Adobe 9.x, a msg dictates that they are unable to save file.  How can I rectify this without downgrading my Adobe to 9 accross our system.

Downgrading to Adobe Reader 9 will not solve the problem because the issue is Reader was designed not to save completed forms.
You can use Acrobat 9 to add Extended Reader Rights to PDF forms and that enabled copy can be saved with form data by Acrobat X.
You will be restricted to 500 returned forms for each form. Above that limit you should contact Adobe about their LiveCycle server product.

  • Form processed by LiveCycle, but cannot be saved by Adobe Reader

    Hi All,
I have an Adobe form which has been processed by LiveCycle, however, it still cannot be saved by Adobe Reader. What could be the probable cause of this?
    Background:
Previously, the whole process could work alright; i.e. create form using Acrobat Prof -> process using LiveCycle -> editing and saving with Adobe Reader.
However, after some changes where made to the pre-processed form, LiveCycle can no longer make the form save-able by Adobe Reader.
    Thanks and best rgds,
    Kwok Pong

    Hi Kwok,
The term "LiveCycle" covers a good number of products so I will make the assumption you are talking about Reader Extensions. Please let me know if this is wrong.
If you licensed Adobe LiveCycle Barcoded Forms this does not necessarily mean that you have licensed Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions (which is sometimes referred to as ARES). ARES is the technology that is used to allow the Barcoded Forms PDFs to work but does not enable save-off-line capabilities on your forms unless you licensed this feature too.
Take a few minutes and listen to this presentation, it should give you an idea of how things are licensed: http://my.adobe.acrobat.com/barcodedformsandreaderextensions

  • Can I run Adobe Reader 7 or later with Acrobat 6 Pro?

I currently have Acrobat Pro 6 installed, which works fine. But I am now getting a message appearing prior to opening some pdf's that the document may not display or format properly as they were made by a later version - these aren't the exact words but hopefully you get the idea.
Rather than upgrade to Acrobat Standard or Pro 9 I was going to install Adobe Reader 7 or later. Will Adobe Reader 7 or later work alright with Acrobat Pro 6 or will I get conflicts?
Operating system: Windows XP Pro - SP3

Adobe does not reccomend to have both Acrobat and Reader installed in a same Win machine, as they share some files and are most likely to conflict.

  • How do I enable a LiveCycle PDF form to be saved in Adobe Reader?

I have an interactive PDF form that I created in LiveCycle. However, when it is opened with Adobe Reader, the user is unable to save it. They can only print from Reader. How do I enable the LiveCycle PDF form to be saved in Adobe Reader?

You have to add save rights with Acrobat.
Open you form in Acrobat and then save it via File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools.

  • Can no longer digitally sign PDF's with Adobe Reader 9

On our government network some of us have been upgraded to Adobe Reader 9 but now we can no longer digitally sign some PDF files.
People with Adobe Reader or Pro 8 can. Here is a link to one of the documents:
    www.unl.edu/nrotc/Nc3065.pdf
    I'm also attaching the document.
The document security shows as "Digital signing allowed" in Adobe Reader 8 but "Not allowed" in Adobe Reader 9.
Is there something wrong with Adobe Reader 9 or something we need to change?
Any constructive advice would be appreciated.

I cannot say for sure, but some of the technology the government uses (like the IRS) uses older technology that is no longer support in version 9. For example the IRS tax forms cannot be fillied in and saved using Reader 9. My bet your seeing a similar problem. There is no workaround. You will need to go back to Reader 8 or get Acrobat 9 Pro or Standard.

  • Emailing attachments with Adobe Reader

    Hey Guys,
Just needing a bit of help with Adobe Reader. I am trying to complete a job application. Instructions are to change the file name to your name and application date etc. and then to fill out the required boxes on the form and attach to an email and send.
The problem I am having is after saving the form with the required file name and completing all the information on the form, attaching it to the email and then when I go to send Adobe says something like 'when you email this form Adobe doesn't recognise all the changes to your form and will send how the form was last saved' (which for me is a blank form - because you cannot save the completed form). Then I have the terrible problem of only sending a blank job application form.
    Please help???

    Hey There,
According to the instructions on the job application I have to save the
    blank form as a pdf.
It is protected form and it says:
"data typed into this form will not be saved. Adobe Reader can only save a
    blank copy of this form"
"please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your
    records"    "Print Form"
    "save a Blank Copy"     "Cancel"
I don't really care that I can't save the completed form but I need to know
how to send the completed form correctly. If you know how I'd really
    appreciate your help.
    Cheers,
    Katie

  • How do I open .dll files automatically with Adobe Reader through Firefox?

    Hi,
When I print eBay labels through Firefox, a .dll file is downloaded. This used to open automatically in Adobe Reader, but now it opens as a text document in TextEdit, so I have to manually open Adobe Reader, change options to show "all files", and then locate the .dll file and open it.
When I try to change the default application in Firefox preferences, I can't find anything with the content type "dll".
Is there a way to have Firefox automatically open .dll files with Adobe Reader?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
    Steve

    That worked, thank you!
I quit out of Firefox, renamed the file like you said, restarted my computer, and restarted Firefox.
When I went to download a label, Firefox asked me which application to use, and I picked Adobe Reader. I also checked the box to make that the default. This automatically opened the file in AR, and then when I did it the next time it worked perfectly.
Again, thank you so much for your help with this - although it's just a bit of time here and there saved it really adds up!
    Take care!

  • Unable to open files associated with Adobe Reader - program goes into a loop

i am unable to open any file associated with adobe reader or adobe pro.  when i double-click the file, adobe reader opens up but it goes into a loop.
adobe reader opens, then a progress window opens, as if the file will open but adobe closes and opens again and the same cycle repeats itself until i manually close the program.
    any advice?
    update:
i can open regular .PDF files when i double-click the icon and i can also open .PDF files when i open adobe reader first and then choose open file.  it's just the .FDF files that are the problem (so far).
the file in question happens to be an .FDF extension, which is an internet generated form. i attached a screen shot of the screen that pops up, goes away, and pops up again that creates the loop.
the white out section is the server name where the file was saved to.  but i also get the same symptoms when i am in internet explorer, hit the generate form button.

    hey ankit,
sorry i didn't see a notification that you replied to this discussion.
"1. Generate a new PDF and a FDF file. Try opening the same and see if it behaves the same way."
yes, it does behave the same way, it's just a continuous loop until i have to kill the process.
"2. Check if you have access to the PDF that is being used by the particular FDF."
by this do you mean the correct permissions?  if that is what you mean, then yes, the permissions are set correctly.
"3. If possible, please send me the FDF and the associated PDF that is behaving in this way on your system."
i really wish i could but the information in the form is sensitive and cannot be sent.
as an update though, i reimaged the customer's workstation, installed Adobe Reader 10.1.1 and it worked perfectly (finally).  HOWEVER, after about two weeks the same symptoms returned!

  • I am having trouble viewing the entire content of a PDF opened with adobe reader on my ipad.

I am having trouble viewing the entire content of a PDF opened with adobe reader on my ipad. Mi am able to view the file in its entirety on my Mac but not on my ipad.  I have tried saving it to acrobat but that doesn't work either.  Any suggestions please.

    Hi,
When you say the entire content, do you mean some parts of the pdf are not getting displayed or is it going out of the screen?
Please send a pdf you are having issues with on chmaheshatadobedotcom, it will help us investigating the problem.

  • Cannot sign documents with Adobe Reader 10.1.3 - 10.1.10, Can sign document with 10.1.2 and 11.0.07

Cannot sign documents with Adobe Reader 10.1.3 - 10.1.10, Can sign document with 10.1.2 and 11.0.07
In my environment, we have 10.1.2 that's currently packaged. Our CIO was able to sign documents via signature with no problem. Later he got updated to 10.1.9, no longer can sign.
During testing I was able to confirm that 10.1.2 signed without problems, but anything that, it goes kaput, the Sign and options are not listed.
Latest Adobe Reader can sign... any ideas?

I'm having a similar problem.  What I'm trying to do is print a Microsoft Word 2010 document with paper size A4 to Adobe pdf document paper size A4.  I select "A4" for paper size in word and then print using Adobe print standard settings.  What I get is an Adobe document in 8.5 x 11.  This is an issue because these are patent documents for electronic filing in WIPO and they must be in A4 size.
If I select other sizes in Word, such as A3, Tabloid, and Legal, the Adobe file is in the same paper size.
If I print a Powerpoint document in A4 to Adobe, the Adobe file page size is A4.
If I print an Adobe file in 8.5 x11 to Adobe A4, the second Adobe file is in A4.
    Any help?

  • Merge two PDF files into one with Adobe Reader

Does anyone know how to merge two PDF files into one with Adobe Reader. Is it even possible?
    Thanks

If you've got a Mac and OSX you can do this in Preview.  Make sure you can see the sidebar with the first PDF opened, and then drag the second PDF to the bottom of the last page in the sidebar.  Also you can reduce the size of your saved file by selecting (or making) a Quartz filter to 'reduce file size'
    Cheers

    Hello Michael,
Thank you for your response.  My operating system is XP.  When I try to open a pfd document I just get a series of letters and symbols in a dialog box.  The top of the box says "select the encoding that makes your document readable".  I can choose Windows, MS-Dos, or other (there is a long list to choose from).  None seem to make a difference.  If I save the document to my desk top I can right click on it and choose an option "Open with  AdobeReader 9" and it opens fine.
    Thank you,

    Hello:
What operating system does your computer use? What happens when you attempt to open a PDF document rather than saving it first? Please include any/all error messages. Also, have you tried opening documents from other locations or just one in particular?
    Thanks,
