Saving With An Earlier Version

Trying to save a numbers file so I can send to my daughter who has an earlier version of Numbers. Anyone know how?

Welcome to Apple Discussions
I think it's intuitive, but others don't. Go to File > Save As…, click the box next to Save copy as: & select iWork '08 from the drop-down menu.

I am in the middle of a job using CS 6, but at the same time opening the Creative Suite apps.  I created an InDesign file in CS 6, saved it, and now I can't open it. I'm getting this message: Cannot open file because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign CC (10.1). You must use that version or later to open the file." AARRGGHH! So how do I access the file?

Sounds like you opened and saved it in CC, so now you need to go back to CC and either complete the project there, or export to IDML to take it back into CS6.

  • Cannot open "filename" because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign CC (10.0).

I updated my whole cloud last week. Now I can't open a InDesign document saved just the day before. I get the error message:
Cannot open “filename” because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign CC (10.0).
Cannot open “filename” because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign CC (10.0). You must use that version or later to open the file. To then enable it to be opened in this version, choose save as InDesign CS4 or later, or export to IDML.
This is a document that I created in InDesign CC just last week.

    Hi Robert,
To open an INDD file in the older version (CS4-CC), you need to save it as an IDML. For CS3 & older versions, save it as an INX.
    Thanks

  • Cannot open CC, indd files saved in an earlier versions in CS6

When attempting to open CC files inside of version CS6 that have been saved by students in version CS4 and later, I get the following message" Cannot open "fileName.indd" because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe  InDesign (CS7.0) You must use tht version or later to open the file... How can I open these files? I also get plugin messages.

That's weird. But I guess they didn't properly Exported the file into an .idml file. Save As is different from File -> Export to idml
If your student did just File -> Save As, thinking that Save As works just like MS Word that saving it will work with backward compatibility to a lower version of InDesign then probably it won't work.
However, just ask them to Re-Export the file to .idml and see if you can open it in your InDesign CS6.

  • Persistent "document was created with an earlier version of Pages" error

Since I upgraded to Pages '08 (3.0.2), Pages always thinks that I have created my documents with an older version — even new documents created with Pages '08. As a result, I am frequently shown this message when trying to save a document:
"This document was created with an earlier version of Pages. To maintain the ability to open the document with earlier versions, click Save As and choose an application version."
The options are: Save As..., Cancel, Save.
Any ideas on why this is happening, even when working with Pages '08 documents?
This just occurred to me: Maybe my templates were not upgraded along with the app, so every time I create a "new" document with an old template (even the template "Blank"), my documents would be in the old document format. Thoughts?

    It's a well known tip.
On my machines, an Applescript is launched every morning which install a clean set of preferences files for the most often used programs.
Doing that, I am quite free of the kind of oddity which striked on your machine.
    --(SCRIPT keepcleanprefs.app]
    To keep clean preferences files.
    In your userAccount's Preferences folder,
    create a subfolder named "safe_Prefs"
Store in this folder clean duplicates of the preferences files subject to corruption.
Save this script as an Application Bundle where you want.
Why not in your Applications folder?
Open the System Preferences Pane "Account"
    Click on the "Login" tab.
Drag and drop the script's icon onto the window to add it to the list of login items.
On every boot process, the script will be run so it will install the clean prefs.
Of course, if you change something to the prefs and know that the file is clean,
duplicate the new version to the safe_prefs folder.

  • Edit pdf's with an earlier version?

howdy!  tried to do some searches but came up empty.  If I have Adobe X and create a pdf with it--can I edit (even with limited functionality) that pdf with an earlier version? like 8?

If the pdf can be read in Acrobat 8, it can be edited (as long as you are not talking about portfolios).

  • Accident saving with an old version!

Hi! I by accident opened a document in my movies, saw this warning: "The project "test" was saved with an old version of iMovie HD. Opening it in this version will cause it to be upgraded, which will make it unreadadble by older versiond. Ar you sure you want to open it?" And I must have it "OK" and now I can not read some movies that I need to see...can I fix this?

You should be able to open, and read and edit, the movie in the newer version of iMovie. The older version movie was just upgraded, not corrupted. At least, that's the way it worked from iM5 ugrading to iM6. I don't know about iM'08.
If you can't read the upgraded movie, try closing iMovie and trashing the file com.apple.iMovie.plist found in User/Library/Preferences. iMovie will create a new file upon relaunch.
Update to the current version of Quicktime.
Afterwards run a permissions repair using the Utilities/Disk Utility application on your MAC hard drive.
Then try opening your upgraded movie.

  • Saved with a newer version of Adobe indesign (CS8.0)

latest version of creative cloud will not open indesign files i get "saved with a newer version of Adobe indesign (CS8.0)"

You've got the wrong version of InDesign to open the file, it's that simple.
InDesign Cs6 is available on Creative Cloud, and if that's up to date it won't open InDesign CC or InDesign CC 2014 files.
You'll need to download InDesign CC2014 from the Creative Cloud.

  • Infragistics UltraWebListbar was working fine with the earlier version of the firfox. But it crashes after updating to version 12.

I am using infragistics UltraWebListbar to display list of menu in one of my page.
It was working fine with the earlier version of the firfox. But it crashes after updating to version 12.
Following are the few details from the stack trace
    System.Convert.ToInt32(String value) +63
    Infragistics.WebUI.UltraWebListbar.UltraWebListbar.getRenderer() +237

It's a third-party application, ask Infragistics support board. Maybe they have a fix or a dev version to fix your issue.

  • Imovie files suggesting "saved with an older version" ???

    I hope someone can help.
I have been converting old analogue tapes to DV-PAL with aid of a canopus ADVC110 analogue to digital convertor. I am saving the files to an external hard drive (lacie mini hub 250GB). They appeared to save successfully but I have discovered later, upon re-opening the files, the following message "project was saved with an old version of imovie....." If I save the file the image becomes pixelated. I have about 10 projects, some are o.k one day and others projects are reporting the problem?
Unsure what is happening here and how to resolve.
external lacie drive is Mac OS extended (journaled)
    imovie HD 6.0.3
mac mini 1.42 1 gig ram   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   lacie mini hub and hard drive

I probably haven't explained myself to well.
I am running imovie HD 6.0.3, the lastest version.
I have been saving my projects (converting analogue-PAL to DV-PAL via a canopus ADC) in imovie HD 6.0.3, however upon opening the files later during the week I get the following message.
"The project “hi8 tape 1” was saved with an older version of iMovie HD. Opening it in this version will cause it to be upgraded, which will make it unreadable by older versions. Are you sure you want to open it?"
I'm unsure how this is happening when I'm running the lastest copy of imovie HD 6.0.3
When I do attempt to save I receive the following message.
"Files that iMovie can understand are in iMovie’s Trash. Any other files have been moved into the Finder’s Trash. Would you like to view iMovie’s Trash contents now?"
If I do go ahead and save it doesn't help, the video capture becomes totally pixelated after I move the files from imovie trash back to clip viewer or the imovie trash is empty? Sometimes it works by moving the files from imovie trash to the clip viewer but the following day if I open the projects I get the same old ver. problem
I am writing and saving the project to an external hard drive. Are their problems in doing that? The external hardrive is mac OSX extended (journaled)
I did upgrade from imovie 5 about 8 months ago.

I'm not sure what you mean by it making accessing files more complicated. I have both Pages 4.3 & Pages 5.1 icons in my Dock as well as Numbers 2.3 & Numbers 3.1. I continue to use the iWork '09 versions for my everyday needs. As long as the new versions are in your Applications folder & the '09 versions in the iWork '09 folder, Software Update will not have a problem updating them even if Apple should come out with a new update for the '09 versions.
Because I have moved the new versions to an external drive & renamed the apps because I want '09 to be the default apps, I do have to remember to move them back to my applications folder & restore the original names before updating. But since you like the new versions this "complication" doesn't apply to you.

  • I use norton anti virus and it has login help for most sites i could use it effectively with firefox earlier version but with firefox 4 the same is not available sttaing firefox is not compatiable with norton anti virus kindly clarify

firefox 4 is not compatible with norton antivirus program. i need a solution for this
    mohan

Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
The core Norton components such as antivirus and firewall will still work, it will just be the add-ons that are not currently compatible.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • How can you replace v.25 with an earlier version, say v.23 for my business purposes?

How can I install an earlier MAC Version of Firefox, e.g. 23 or earlier ? and then Uninstall the latest Version 25?
According to the Health Insurer I charge for services, Version 25 cannot work for them.

Best is to use the latest Firefox release for browsing on the internet and install an older version alongside that uses its own profile.
See this article about how to install multiple versions on Mac OS X:

  • CS5 compatibility with very early versions ie DW4

    Hi,
I've just got my own copy of CS5 and going to college part-time to get to know it. I've used DW8, in a small way, at work (a school).
If I use CS5 (at home) on a site developed at work in DW8 will it be compatible? Any problems when amending/updateing a page created in CS5 but updated at work in DW8?
I've also been asked to create a site for another school who still have DW4. Any likely problems there? (The new site will be updated in future in school by a staff member familiar with the original DW4 software so they are reluctant to upgrade to CS5).
I assume all will be OK but want to check at this stage!
    Thanks for any help!

    You should be fine.
I've also been asked to create a site for another school who still have DW4. Any likely problems there?
Yes, definitely - template syntax changed completely going from DW4 to DMX (version 6).  A template or child page built in CS5 will NOT BE RECOGNIZED as a template or child page in DW4. And DW4 had very little if any UI for managing CSS.  Honestly unless you are building a very simple site, I wouldn't touch this job.
