Saving work as a jpg?

I'm new to the mac world. I created a document in pages, I don't see any way to save it as a jpg. Only pdf. Is this possible or am I missing something? Please help

A quick answer:
+Menu > File > Print > PDF button > Save as PDF+
Save this pdf version where you can find it, then open it with Preview and resave it as a .jpg or whatever other file type you like. You can save a step by instead of printing the .pdf in Print dialog going +>Open PDF in Preview+ from the PDF button.
Now a reason why you might want that pdf instead.
.jpg files are not a good format for things that have fonts or flat areas of color or detail. The .jpg format was designed for photos and it blurs details. The .pdf file will be by far the best and smallest file size for a readable Pages document.
However perhaps you just need a web thumbnail and a jpg file would make sense then.

It's the level of compression. Lower number, more aggressive compression, more visual artifacts.
Aside from that you should never use jpeg as a working format. The compression is destructive and cumulative, and the file deteriorates every time you resave it.
Use TIFF or PSD, and if you need jpeg save out a copy as a single final step.

  • In CS5, saving a tiff, the jpg compression is greyed out, why? No layers. It's RGB, 8 bit file.

  • Lens Distortion correction not working on tonemapped jpg files

I have a series of photos exported from Lightroom 2 that I HDR tonemapped in Photomatix.  Unfortunately after a disk failure I do not have the original RAW files and only have the 100% jpg saved tonemapped files from photomatix.
Now that Lightroom 3 is out I wanted to try some lens distortion correction on them.  I imported them and immediately noticed after enabling the lens profile corrections and choosing my lens that although chromatic arberration and vignetting works there is no effect at all with the distortion correction!  Even when I slide the slider from one side to the other absolutely nothing changes.
I tried it on other raw files and it works fines.  I tried it on jpgs that I have that have not been combined and tonemapped in photomatix and they work fine.  It is only the jpgs created from photomatix.
Is there something about the exif data that I am not considering or any other explanation as to why the photomatix jpgs won't take any distortion correction?  thanks

If it's working for other jpg's, (and I though it didn't work on jpgs, so who knows?) then it does sound like the photomatrix program is wiping out the exif information that is needed.
Did you try using a viewer to look at the exif info, both before and after, to compare?  Maybe there is a setting (in photomatrix) that you are missing when you save data?
Sorry, don't know photomatrix, so just offering generic ideas in the hopes it sheds light..
    Cheers!

Z77A-G43 OC 4.3 with power saving work , Thanks xmad
Goes up @ 4.3GHz on full load, then come down to 1.6GHz idle( perfect)  try with prime95 about a hour, temperature when up to 71c then between 58-65c
Set all to auto, then enter the cpu features.
Set the power levels short / long to 255 and the power duration to 2 seconds.
Then increase the turbo speed there to w/er you wish 4.2-4.5 are typical everyday overclock settings.
    ( OK mine if i'm not mistaking it's 1-core ratio limit [43] ,
    2-core ratio limit [43] , 3-core ratio limit [43] 4-core ratio limit [43]
    Pic attached
    Other settings needed.
Vdroop: 75-100% ( NOT available on mine)
    Pll : enabled
    Overspeed protection: Disabled
    Enhanced Turbo: Enabled
Ok now i'm experimenting a little bit, i try 44 for ratio but crash after prime 95 working
Should i adjust vcore small step at a time?
    or other setting?  thanks

    Ow hi guys
I just found this while I've been searching and reading up on overclocking and I was wondering if you guys can just help me out? I will continue to read up and learn more, but is it possible to kind of give me a step by step of what to do with this exact board & Bios?
I also have the Z77A-G43 OC & i7-3770k and from the looks of the reading I want to get to 4.4ghz
I've read the posts and see the pics, but where should I start & what exactly should I all change before starting up windows & running prime etc
Any help would be appreciated aimed at a beginner like me would help Overclocking is just something I'm really learning about now.
    TY
Mine is running At 4.3GHz with auto vcore, with Antec water cooler 920 no issue so far..
On reboot, click delete to enter bios then do same setting has me but with Vcore auto, save and reboot, in window under click center , check your clock speed under load, it will give your i7-3770k stable clock zone..
Look in here, the last one  https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=162043.0
If you don't mind to try overclock genie first in the bios, I sure would like to know if it does anything for you, cause mine it's only capable to OC Genie the GPU only, . I wrote to company about it but no reply yet..
But  it might be a cheap board but you can still overclock it anyway..

  • Can I access saved work on my computer from another Illustrator account if I sign up for a new account?

My son saved work on my computer, but used his own email address.  He can't remember his email address password and is out of the country and doesn't have internet access.  If I sign up for my own account on Illustrator, will I be able to pull up the work that he saved on my computer?

Yes you will be able to open all the Files saved by him. But you can't access his Creative Cloud assets which are associated with his ID such as: Type kit Fonts, Swatches, Design Library Assets etc.

  • CFIMAGE not working with certain JPG

    Hi all,
Got an emergency here, hope anyone can help.
I find that more and more people are encountering problems using CFIMAGE -- no error is thrown when reading/saving certain jpg images, but the result image is just blank and gray.
    The code is just simple:
    <CFSET IM=ImageRead("C:\DSCN1570.JPG")>
    <cfset ImageResize(IM,300,200,"highPerformance")>
    <cfset ImageWrite(IM,"C:\DSCN1570-2.JPG")>
    or even just:
    <CFSET IM=ImageRead("C:\DSCN1570.JPG")>
    <cfset ImageWrite(IM,"C:\DSCN1570-2.JPG")>
This happens after applying the latest hotfix for 8.0.1 (Cumulative Hotfix 2 for CF 8.0.1). If this patch is not installed the processing works.
Attached is an offending file. The code works if i replace the file with another jpg.
Any help is much appreciated. I'm running CF 8,0,1,195765 devt edition on Windows XP and my java version is 1.6.0_04. My metadata-extractor is 2.3.1.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

Yeah, sorry: missed the bit - that BKBK pointed out - about you saying you did some testing.  To be honest, I would never release code into production without load-testing it first.  Especially something that's perhaps already red-flagged as being a risk.  Of course there was no real reason for you to think that the previously fixed issue had been regressed.  So not - perhaps - a red flag.  maybe just an amber one.
I don't believe load testing is a "nice to have", it's essential.  In the past I just slapped my code into production after a bit of a click round to make sure it all seemed to work.  Then we released some code which worked fine whilst only one person was accessing it, but had some severe logic flaws in it which made it fail - in a data-destroying sort of way - which caused us an awful lot of issues with the client (which in turn got me shouted @ by the boss), not to mention wasted time fixing everything.
That lead me to investigate whether we could have found that sort of thing had we load-tested: yes.  Easily.  Lesson learned.  It also turned up a few other things we didn't notice which were easy tweaks which improved the performance of the app, and made the client happy again.
But anyway, that's just something to think about for future reference, I guess.  I fully understand what you mean about time constraints often preventing one from taking the perfect foolproof approach to things: we've all done that. Just sux you got caught out by it.
As for bringing it to Adobe's attention... go here: http://cfbugs.adobe.com/cfbugreport/flexbugui/cfbugtracker/main.html.
It'd help if you could contrive a stand-alone test rig that can be made to fail under load.

  • PHOTOSHOP CS5 file saving name question (.png .jpg)

    Hi,
If I open a new file and go to save it the extension names show up (.jpg or .png). However, if I open an illustrator file in Photoshop and try to save it, the extension names are not there (it's saving them as the proper format, but I want the files to have the .jpg or .png in the name without me typing them in myself).
Anyone know why this is or how I can fix it?
(I tried flattening the image first. I made sure the file is in 8bit mode. I made sure the image is a RGB file too. But still, the extension part of the name (.jpg) is not showing up). Sometimes, it works for certain .ai files, but others it doesn't. Yet, they appear to be the exact same file type. I tried restarting Photoshop and restarting the computer. Still, for certain files it doesn't work.
    Please see attached picture.

No, the fly window isn't hiding the file names.
For some reason, it seems to be only occurring to a set of files that I have in a certain folder. I believe I saved all these illustrator files the same way as other files (that are working properly - meaning the file extensions names are coming up for them).
Not sure why its just hiding the extension name on these certain files....?

  • Saving photoshop project as JPG the file gets saved in an un-recoginsed format, Can Anyone Help?

    Hi Everyone,
I have been happily using photoshop for a couple of years and have never had to ask for help before but this issue is troubling me.
Basically I open a jpg file for editing in photoshop elements and then use "save as" to save my edited project as a jpg with a new filename in a local picture folder.
My new file however shows as
    File Type: File
It will not open! the file wants me to associate a program to open it with and If I select photoshop to open the file I get a warning dialogue "Cannot open 2.5 3 Core TQ Rubber Flex because it is the wrong type of file"
This is the version of photoshop and my system info
Adobe Photoshop Elements Language Version: 10.0.0 (10.0 (20110831.m.17215))
    Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
    Version: 6.1 Service Pack 1
Here is an example of one of these image files as seen on my pc
This has happend with several files that I have edited since mid morning today but before that I didnt seem to have a problem.
Hope someone can help with this. I did do some searches but couldn't find anyone else describing the same issue.
    Thanks in anticipation,
    Barney in the UK

    Thankyou so much
You are absolutly right, all the files I have worked on today have been cables and I have been using their CSA size expressed in millimetres as part of the file name.
    Have a great weekend,
    Cheers

  • Saving a file in jpg max resolution (12) PH cc

    Hi there,
Recently I've changed my laptop and re-installing Photoshop CC in its last version.
When I gonna save a file as JPG automatically it gives me back "8" like quality of image and not "12" . In the other Mac it gives me back all the times 12 and there's no problem to do mistakes saving a file.
Is there a change to do into sets-up ?
    Mac user.
    Cheers
    Mattia

A workaround is to use File->Save As...->Change the file type to JPG->Save, a JPEG options window should come up, just move the slider to the far right, or type in 12 into the box to the right of the slider.

  • Photoshop CS2 Saving a file as .jpg

I recently installed Photoshop CS2 in my Windows 8.1 machine and now when I create an image in PHotoshop I don't have an option for saving the file as a .jpg in the drop down menu  Can anyone help?

With CS2, you have to make sure the image is flattened, there are not paths, no extra channels, in RGB colorspace, and 8bit.  The current versions of PS does this for you, but not CS2.
BTW, you said you just installed CS2, which is a very old program.  I hope you have a license for it.  See this thread:

  • Saving psd file as jpg

    Hello all -
I have recently upgraded from PSE–3 to PSE–9.0 on my Intel MAC running OSX 10.5.8.
With PSE–3, when I wanted to save a psd file as a jpg, I would click File/SaveAs, and in the subsequent window select JPG.  When I did that, the file name at the top of the window changed from xxx.psd to xxx.jpg and the resulting saved file was, in fact, a jpg.
When I attempt the same thing with PSE–9, the file name changes from "xxx.psd" to "xxx copy.psd".  The resulting file is saved as a jpg, but with a ".psd" extension.
I went to PSE–9's 'Saving Files ...' Preferences window. I changed the 'Append File Extension:' option from 'Never' to 'Always' and clicked 'OK'.  When I reopened that window, 'Append File Extension' was still set to 'Never'.  I have been unable to save the 'Always' option.  Thus the renamed files have always been "xxx copy.psd".
Have I been missing somthing?  Is there something else I should do?  Or is it a bug in PSE–9?
    TIA for any thoughts -
    - Ddgt

Yes, it's a bug in the mac version of PSE 9. Just opening the Saving Files preference causes pse to stop appending the file extension. You can either enter it manually, or quit the editor, relaunch it while holding down command+shift+option and keep the keys down till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do. Then never go to that particular preference again.

  • Sync is not working correctly from .jpg to .nef

I am working on editing a large collection of photos, maybe 150 or 160. These are photographs of flat art taken using a flat-art photography stand (camera points directly at floor, art piece is on larger white background). I have two versions of the exact same image, one .jpeg and one .nef. I am editing them one at a time, fixing the white balance, any accidental tilt, and cropping them. Again, the two images are exactly the same: size, angle, etc. What I have been doing is editing the .jpg and then highlighting the .nef version and syncing the two. This has been working perfectly, but something has changed and I don't know what I did to cause it. When I sync the changes I have made to the .jpg, the crop does not line up correctly on the .nef image. Instead of the image being perfectly centered and cropped, it is off to the side, revealing the white background and cutting off the image. Why is this happening? How can I fix it?

What dj wrote regarding crops is equally true for all and any edits you do to the NEF, including any you paste from the jpg. Those edits exist only in the catalog  and additionally in an XMP file if you opt for that. Thus the modifications to the NEF will be viewable only in your LR catalog or by somebody else (with the accompanying XMP) in Adobe software.
Also, you should consider that color-critical edits cannot simply be pasted from a gamma corrected image rendered in a narrow  RGB space to linear and wide gamut image data and be the same.  If it's a jpg from the camera it is in either sRGB or Adobe RGB, narrower gamuts than LR's linear ProPhoto RGB and colors have already been changed in the camera by both the Rendering Intent and the Tonal Response Curve. Moreover, the camera's jpg has been built on a Nikon camera profile while both viewing within LR and exports from it are on the basis of an Adobe profile that may seek to emulate the maker's profile but will never be the same.
You say you do WB adjustments to the jpg. How are +/- tweaks in a limited range applied on top of the camera's WB supposed to translate to WB for the NEF when even the UI (Temperature and Tint) is different?
I have had many years experience photographing paintings for show catalogs and your method seems fundamentally flawed to me.
