Saving Work book in Excel 2010

Dear BW Team,
It is not possible to store it in a query 7.x. Xlsm workbook in Excel 2010 and then again to open and refresh.
Once the file is reopened, the file must be Repaired, and the link road with the Analyzer. The query is no longer refresh in that workbook.
Can you please provide a solution for this.

  • Saving work books locally

    Hello all,
    When we save the work book locally as excel, and again we can open this excel
    As when we open this excel it will give only the data which is stored but not the updated data because this excel does not have connection with BW system
    so how can we use work books by saving locally but with latest data when we open?
    regards
    sunil.

    Workbooks should always stored along with Roles or in Favourites.
    If you save WB locally like on your PC desktop you won't get updated data.
    thts bcoz of RFC connection.
    you can only save the WB data Locally as simple XLS/XLSX form.
    But this will be treated as normal Excel file not the Workbook.
    Cheers:)

  • After saving a file using Excel 2010 in the My Documents folder, it cannot be found using the open button in Excel 2010

    When certain files are saved using Excel 2010 to the My Documents folder, they cannot be found by using the Open button within Excel 2010.  But the file is always found using My Computer and following the path to My Documents.  What is
    even odder is that if I do a "Save As" within Excel and rename the file to the same name but with a "!" at the beginning of the name, it will then show up in the Excel Open window.  There doesn't seem to be a distinct pattern as to
    when the file can or cannot be displayed by the Excel Open button.
    I am using Windows 7 64bit along with Office 2010 64bit.  Windows has current service packs and updates.  There are perhaps 200 - 400 Excel files in the My documents folder. Some of them are .XLS and some are .XLSX.

    Hi,
    Do you mean that you can't find the Excel file when you click Excel->Open->My Documents folder?
    Do you use the other folder path to test?
    Dose the issue occur in other Office suits (Word, Power Point)?
    Do you get some error message, like "Windows cannot find 'FilePath\FileName', Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."?
    Please try the following methods:
    Method1:
    1. Go to the registry. Click START, and in the RUN command line type REGEDIT and hit ENTER or click OK.
    2. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.8\Shell\Open\Command
    3. Double click on the (Default) instance over to the right. Right now this probably says something like:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE /dde
    Change this value to:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE /e "%1"
    4. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.12\Shell\Open\Command
    Again, double click the (Default) entry to the right and change
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE /dde
    to
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE /e "%1"
    Note : Please backup the registry key before you modify.
    Method2:
    Click the File tab, and then click Options.
    Click Advanced, scroll down to the General
    section, and then clear the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) check box in the
    General area.
    Thanks

  • Saving Work books

    Dear Gurus,
      I have a specific requirement like i need to stop users saving the work book in a folder. The Problem is we have 5 rpeorts in folder and users from Different countries accessing the reports and saving the report according to their company code and when others trying to use its displaying no authorizations , how to stop that.
    Regards
    Arunkumar

    Hi Anun,
    In order to save a workbook, a user needs two authorization objects. The
    two objects listed below are the minimum authorizations, a user needs to
    save workbooks.
    -> S_GUI: Authorization for GUI activities
    -> S_BDS_DS: Authorizations for document set
    Both these authorizations will enable a user to save workbooks to their
    'Favourites' folder. If a user wants to save a workbook to a location
    where it can be easily accessed by others, they need to save to a 'Role'
    rather than saving the workbook in their own Favorites folder. You can
    then assign the Role to all parties who need to share workbooks. In
    order to save workbooks to Roles, a user needs following authorizations.
    -> S_USER_AGR: Authorizations: Role check
    -> S_USER_TCD: Transactions in roles
    I guess your users have the auts to save their personal settings in the role... ie: country code..., to control this take a look at the authorization object S_user_AGR... if they have activity 02 (change) for this then they will be able to save to the role.  Would it suit your purposes to have them have display only access to this workbook in the role (activity 03 for S_USER_AGR)
    I hope this helps
    best regards
    Orla.

  • Saving work book

    How to save the work book globally

    Hi Janardhana,
    We can save workbooks to roles so that all users who are assigned to that role can see and use them. Another way to save workbooks is in the user's favourites folder. I think by Global, you are referring to the first option...

  • Excel 2007 to Excel 2010 - external references no longer work for UNC paths

    Hi all,
              a client has recently moved from Excel 2007 to Excel 2010 - and found that some spread sheets - which have references to other spread sheets, no longer update data correctly. The workbooks continue to
    work fine with Excel 2007.
    The locations are listed in trusted locations from GP - and if we copy the documents locally and update the links, it all works fine.
    Excel 2010 have all patches installed as of March 2014 and the spread sheets have also been tested with Excel 2013 (again, with all current patches) and exhibit the same issues.
    Changing the unc path to a drive letter also does not resolve the issue.
    An example of the lookup is
    =IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP([@[ Cust No.]],\\server\share\February.2014.xlsx!Table1[#All],9,0)),0,VLOOKUP([@[ Cust No.]],
    \\server\share\February.2014.xlsx!Table1[#All],9,0))

    Maybe you could try to use the range reference instead of Table in excel 2010.
    e.g.
    =VLOOKUP(H5,'\\server name\share folder\[2014.xlsx]Sheet1'!$H$15:$M$25,2,0)
    If it doesn't help ,on the Data tab, click Edit Links in the Connections group. And then click 'Check Status' .
    What's the status of this link? If it is 'Error: Worksheet not found' . you can try to click the 'open source' to update the data.

    Yes it does run on Excel 2010 32bit, sometimes you may need to make changes to environment variables such as the path but you shouldnt need to launch Excel from a script.

    Atul,
    Check if you are able to login into Manage Servers through Central Configuration Manager.
    If thats successful, the issue is either with Krb5.ini or bscLogin.conf file.
    You can check http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1631734 and download the white paper to go through the settings.
    Make sure there are no white spaces in Krb5.ini and the format is correct.

  • Powerpivot 2012 on Excel 2010 - External Data connections not saving passwords, having to re-enter password EVERYTIME I refresh data

    Hey Guys,
    Using Excel 2010 with latest version of Powerpivot 2012 available 11.1.3129.0
    For my SQL Server Data connections in Powerpivot I DO NOT have any issue, when clicking refresh it never asks me to enter a password and uses my Windows AD info.
    However, for my plethora of other external data connections (Informix, Oracle, Etc...) that I would like to have fluid use within Powerpivot, big problems.
    Lets start with Oracle. Below is a screenshot of my connection tab within Powerpivot.
    So as you can see, all the details are entered and Allow Saving Password is selected. Now I will close out of Powerpivot and Excel completely and re-open. I will navigate to the Powerpivot tab
    and select Powerpivot Window. And then will select to "Refresh All" and am quickly prompted with the "Data Source Credentials" window to re-enter my data source password, again.
    What I have already tried. The above method for starters in which I use a connection string under Table Import Wizard --> Others (OLEDB/ODBC)... I found it the least annoying route, although
    still have to re-enter password everytime, which is what I hope this forum can help with.
    I also have tried doing a direct Oracle connection in Table Import Wizard but also does not eliminate my #1 problem.
    I have also created an ODC file to try and use that with stored credentials within the file, also still asks for password each and everytime.
    The same thing happens with my other data connections to Informix and DB2. So any help and/or suggestions anyone has would be great. I also cant upload these powerpivots to our powerpivot gallery
    on SharePoint 2010, I have a sneaking suspicion it is due to the version of powerpivot I am currently using.
    Thanks

    Hi there,
    My company is not using Excel 2013, only 2010. So that is what I have to work with. From what I have read this is a huge hole in the Powerpivot 2012 framework and is extremely frustrating. This seems so basic and simple and like something everyone using
    this product would use, and yet it still doesnt work.
    Great feedback. Connect is the right place for this feedback on 2010 as well. Thanks!

  • Excel 2010 MS Query is not working

    Hi, I am in the process of upgrading all my Excel 2003 spreadsheets to Excel 2010.  I am running into problem with the MS Query.  Spreadsheets have MS Query linking to MS database.  However, when I open some of the spreadsheets, the MS Query
    is not working ie. the blue circle keeps turning and then not responding.  It is very weird that this MS Query is working fine with some spreadsheets but not couple and they are all linking to the same database except a small different in criteria.  I
    tried to re-create the Query in the spreadsheet in Excel 2010 by going to Data>From Other Sources>From Microsoft Query and select the database.  Once I set up the criteria and click Return data, the Query gets stuck.
    Please help! Any comments/suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    There are many possible causes that can crash MSQuery in Excel 2010.
    First, please make sure we have installed the latest Office 2010 and Windows patches.
    Second, Please read the Blog, it explains one typical crash scenario.
    =====
    AppName: msqry32.exe AppVer: 14.0.4750.1000 ModName: msvcr90.dll
    There are several possible resolution you can try to resolve the above crash:
    1. When you launch MS Query, just disable the option "Validate queries before saving or returning data", this is the fifth box in the options menu.
    The only problem is that if you have made any mistake in your query, you'll only be noticed when receiving the data in excel.
    2. Repair all the keys into registry at the following place:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\ODBC]
    For example:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\ODBC]
    "TraceFile"="C:\\DOCUME~1\\...USERNAME...\\IMPOST~1\\Temp\\SQL.LOG"
    "TraceDll"="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\odbctrac.dll"
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/asiasupp/archive/2011/11/07/msquery-randomly-crashed.aspx
    =====
    Third, start the Excel 2010 with
    safe mode, it helps us confirm if some add-ins cause this issue.
    Hope it's helpful.

  • Excel 2010 Freezes while saving and computing when large files are opened.

    Hi
    The issue with with MS Office Excel 2010, where in if i open big files like greater than 40 or 50 mb file while saving or computing it takes lot of time
    like say 10 to 15 seconds and some times more also.
    This file i am referring is having around 5,000 row data and with around 15 sheets and has formula's and functions built into it.
    As and when i try to delete or update one of the same the status bar show processing message and starts processing from 0 to 100% this takes
    lot of time and during i feel my excel is frozen or system hanged kind of situation.
    The query is what is the limitation of file size which can be opened in Excel 2010 where i can work with the same without any freeze or hanging.
    need the same for Excel 2007 and 2013 versions also.
    Note : other office products like work, power point works fine without any issue.

    Hi,
    I didn't find the exact size of the limitation of size for Excel 2010, but as for Excel 2013, I can tell you this:
    32-bit environment is subject to 2 gigabytes (GB) of virtual address space, shared by Excel, the workbook, and add-ins that run in the same process. A data model’s share of the address space might run up to 500 – 700 megabytes (MB), but could be less if
    other data models and add-ins are loaded.
    64-bit environment imposes no hard limits on file size. Workbook size is limited only by available memory and system resources.
    I think the articles below will be very helpful to you:
    Excel specifications and limits
    For 2007:http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/excel-help/excel-specifications-and-limits-HP010073849.aspx?CTT=1
    For 2010:http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/excel-help/excel-specifications-and-limits-HP010342495.aspx?CTT=1
    For 2013:http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/excel-help/excel-specifications-and-limits-HA103980614.aspx?CTT=1
    Anyway, many factors may cause the freeze, such as hardware and add-ins, you may try starting Excel in Safe Mode to determine if it's add-ins related:
    Press Win + R and type “excel /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
    If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.

  • OpenXML Excel file, works in Excel 2007, OpenOffice, etc but not in Excel 2010

    Hi everyone,
    I have a problem.  I host a free website, sharing source code and ideas with other developers.  One of my projects is a very simple C# class, which generates an Excel 2007 .xlsx file.  All source code is provided, along with a demo showing
    how to use it, free of charge.  No registration required.
    http://www.mikesknowledgebase.com/pages/CSharp/ExportToExcel.htm
    The .xlsx files that this class generates are fine, they open in Excel 2007 & OpenOffice, I've run the OpenXmlValidator
    on the files, and there are no reported problems.
    However, If I open the file in Excel 2010 (with SP1), it opens, but if I go to the Print or Print Preview screen, Excel 2010 crashes.
    Googling around, I've found that many many users have experienced problems with HP print drivers, I followed some suggestions, such as turning off multi-threading in Excel, but it makes no difference.  I tried setting the default printer as
    the "Microsoft XPS Document Writer", but it made no difference.
    Here is a copy of the Excel file that my demo produces (and which crashes Excel 2010).   Can someone tell me why it opens okay, but then crashes Excel 2010 ?
    http://www.MikesKnowledgeBase.com/SampleCode/Sample.xlsx
    I can get around the problem by loading this file in Excel 2010, saving it as an ".xls" file (!!) and re-loading that... but it kinda defeats the purpose.
    And, more generally, why does Excel 2007, OpenOffice and the OpenXmlValidator consider it to be in the correct format, but it crashes Excel 2010 ?  I'm surprised that Excel 2010 doesn't at least attempt to report some kind of problem with the Excel
    file, rather than bombing out.

    It seems Workbook.XML doesn't have all the information needed by Excel for pagination while prepare for print.
    Using your sample code, here is the XML generated for Workbook.XML part within Open XML package :
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <x:workbook xmlns:x="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/spreadsheetml/2006/main">
      <x:sheets>
        <x:sheet name="Drivers" sheetId="1" r:id="rId1" xmlns:r="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/officeDocument/2006/relationships" />
        <x:sheet name="Vehicles" sheetId="2" r:id="rId2" xmlns:r="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/officeDocument/2006/relationships" />
        <x:sheet name="Vehicle owners" sheetId="3" r:id="rId3" xmlns:r="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/officeDocument/2006/relationships" />
      </x:sheets>
    </x:workbook>
    Replace above content with below XML and print should work fine:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <workbook xmlns="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/spreadsheetml/2006/main" xmlns:r="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/officeDocument/2006/relationships">
      <fileVersion appName="xl" lastEdited="5" lowestEdited="5" rupBuild="9303"/>
      <workbookPr defaultThemeVersion="124226"/>
      <bookViews>
        <workbookView xWindow="510" yWindow="510" windowWidth="4455" windowHeight="2520"/>
      </bookViews>
      <sheets>
        <sheet name="Drivers" sheetId="1" r:id="rId1"/>
        <sheet name="Vehicles" sheetId="2" r:id="rId2"/>
        <sheet name="Vehicle owners" sheetId="3" r:id="rId3"/>
      </sheets>
      <calcPr calcId="0"/>
    </workbook>
    The change is not with data but few elements which define the view for Excel. The required code change can be found using Open XML SDK tool code-reflect.
