See the other post. You need to turn off Direct Sound in the Device Manager properties panel for the card for full duplex.

    On those cards you had a choice of either full duplex (used by default in XP) or another setting reached by right click properties of the card in Device Manager. I forget exactly but I think it's the Direct Sound support?that needs to be turned off within that properties panel to enable full duplex. It's an either or situation on these cards. If direct sound is on, the full duplex mode is deactivated. I think Direct Sound games would still work, just without the hardware buffer support. I guess you could just toggle that back on when gaming and off when conferencing. You probably need to restart the computer for the changes to take effect.

  • Newb Questions - USB MP3+ Full Dupl

    I have just purchased a USB MP3+ external sound card. I have been told that "all low cost PC sound cards support full duplex" (simultaneous record and play) operation. I would like to confirm this before opening the box. I have downloaded the manual, looked over the online comparison charts and nowhere does it mention whether or not the MP3+ supports this. Does anyone know the answer to this?
    Thanks,
    Wylie

    Yes it does full duplex, so you can finally open it after waiting over 3 years.

  • Is Audigy SE full dupl

    Hi everyone,?I recently bought a vista pc but found that with the onboard sound I cannot play a sound and record it at the same time. I really need this functionality. I would like to purchase the Audigy SE which I understand now has vista drivers but can it play sound and record that sound at the same time in cd quality. Thanks very much for any help. Paul

    nowadays onboard are full duplex and so is creative soundcard. if your can't achieve this on onboard, you probably did something wrong and not it can't.

  • Cisco Prime and UCS 220M3

    Dear folks,
    I have a confusion in one of my deployments. My client ordered initially a UCS 220M3 server, which came along with a windows CD. It was supposed to be used as an LMS 4.1 server. Later on there were some variation and customer wants to have prime infrastructure over it. Now I am unable to understand how to do it. The server which came doesnt have any OS. It has one 600 GB hard drive. Can anyone guide me what should i do / or order additionally to work out through this. I am pasting the BoQ for this server which is the original one before variation, the task is to make it work with Prime Infrastructure. Along with this i am attaching some snaps of the physical server and CIMC console...just to clear out any doubts... i will be very thankful if you suggest me the correct way.

    You have the necessary CPU, memory and hard drive specifications for an Express size installation (Reference).
    To install Prime Infrastructure 2.0 you will need to first install VMware ESX/ESXi. This is documented in the same Getting Started Guide I linked to above at this link.
    Once you get that far along, just follow the setup wizard and installation is pretty simple.
    FYI you will get better attention to Prime questions over in the Network Management forum.

  • Yosemite SMB 3.0 opinions

    Hi,
    We are actually using a Maverick's Server (3.2.2) as file server for the business but we recently purchased a true business oriented server (HP Proliant DL380P-G8) running Windows Server 2012 R2 with a Hitachi HUS110 SAN storage and we want to use it as file server now since the OS-X server isn't capable of serving files for our size of business anymore!
    All our workstations (60+) are Apple iMac and/or Apple laptops. They are all running latest of Mavericks (10.9.5) and I ran some test trying to access files on the Windows Server and the actual version of SMB (2) is TOTAL CRAP!! I have several file access errors, most of times files remain locked in the server after use, filename issue, long path issues, file access right error, etc, etc... nightmare!!
    I was on the way of purchasing ExtremeZ-IP AFP server software to serve files to my Macs, but this software is very expensive (4000$+) but it's actually the best software for AFP fileserver. I test the Trial version and this this is amazing!!!
    Just before spending 4000$+ in the next days, did anybody ran some true "business" test on Yosemite with the new SMB 3.0 built-in client? Maybe this time it will work fine with Windows Servers straight out of the box??? Just wondering...

    Thanks for the suggestion DonFromCanada, but how to say (don't want to seem pretentious)... but our business is way too large for this type of installation involving NAS or similar technology because of the number of workstations and the amount of data processed. We work with dozens TBs of data and many are large videos files (1080P or even some 4K). That's why I decided to go with a true business storage solution from HP and Microsoft. Apple server can't handle anymore for the size of our business and amount of data.
    I first connected my new Hitachi SAN storage to my MacPro Server (running latest Mavericks 10.9) using a fiber channel HBA. My MacPro is the top notch aluminium penultimate generation with 12-cores, 64 GB RAM, O/S on RAID, etc. I also have a quad 10 Gbps PCIe full mesh network card in the MacPro than uplink directly to four HP Core 10 Gbps manageable switches that provide optimal 1 Gbps link to all my Apple workstations.
    Despite this new ultra-high-performance storage/network/hardware, what we're seeing now is that the file server application from Apple OS X Server is not capable of handling the number of requests that we ask. This is not an hardware bottleneck anymore, it's a software bottleneck! We talked with engineers working in large Apple environment and they confirmed there was an obvious request handling limit in the Apple server software.
    That's why I decided to go a Windows Server 2012 R2 file server environment to enjoy the high performance of a true business file server platform with true business features like VSS, DFS, Deduplication, Multi-queuing, etc, etc. But now I need to figure out now is how to connect the Apple client's to this business server environment. ExtremeZ-IP (formerly from GroupLogic) is a world leader in this domain and their software is an optimized native AFP protocol that are actually more evolved than original Apple AFP. The ExtremeZ-IP software talk directly with the NTFS level of the Windows 2012 R2 server, it's not only a GUI level application, it's way more than that! But it's a pretty expensive software (with annual renewal $$) and sometime I want to believe Apple will release one day a true Microsoft optimized SMB protocol where you can connect to Windows Server without a third-party app needs.

  • Does Creative have ANY plans to release a proper non-beta X-Fi Titanium W7 driver???

    I've been trying to get a straight answer out of Creative through e-mail and phone calls regarding them releasing a NON-BETA driver for the X-Fi Titanium HD PCIe card. It's been 14 months since the last driver Creative approves of and doesn't label "use at your own risk". The Beta driver was released 7 months ago and and I have seen no sign that a future FINAL driver release will be coming except for on the driver download page creative says
    Originally Posted by Creative

    The attempts at getting answers always result in an automated e-mail reply saying "thank you for contacting Creative about your concerns..." blah blah... and the person on the phone explaining to me that it's being worked on and will be released once finished. I bet if I called asking when the new "quad-core audio card with expandable ram, 4x PCIe, full 7.2 channel DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD encoding/decoding" will be available, I guarantee the guy at the call center will tell me that "we can not provide information on upcoming products. information will be provided only when the product is released".
    btw... no such card has ever been rumored to exist. I just used it as an example of how informed their customer support is.
    Can anyone help me out here?
    Thanks in advance,
    -Andrew

    Reminds me of the driver support I received with my previous card, a Creative X-Fi Platinum. Creative released the card with buggy Windows 7 drivers which were followed up 6 months later with another buggy driver... then after another 14 months of waiting for a fix, they release a "Beta" driver which said the following in its description:
    Take note of the following:
    THIS IS AN UNSUPPORTED BETA DRIVER. There is no technical support for this driver.
    We recommend that only experienced users install this driver. Do not install this driver on a system used to perform critical tasks.
    Users who are looking for stable drivers should wait for the final release. When this happens, user should install the latest Sound Blaster X-Fi Series driver available.
    So...Creative. Did you guys ever think it may be a good idea to honor your word when you specifically say there is a final release coming yet never release it? Between the X-Fi Platinum and my X-Fi titanium HD, I'm starting to see a pattern here. Is how you treat your customers?
    And before you try and explain how complicated and time consuming revising a driver is, I know that any such excuse is a load of BS. I say this because during the past year a few guys in the Hackintosh community were able to create their own driver which allowed the X-Fi Platinum (PCI version) to run perfectly in Mac OS X 10.5/10.6/10.7. And they did it without the source code for other operating systems.
    Btw... just by chance I noticed that both the X-Fi Platinum and X-Fi Titanium HD have Beta drivers, which oddly enough happened to be released only 4 days apart. Upon further inspection (decompressing the installers) I found out that both drivers are almost identical, except for the various device ID's in various ini files and the parameters specific to PCI or PCI-express.
    It seems to me that Creative is using the same driver for both the old X-Fi and the new Titanium HD. This also explains why in Device Manager, both my previous card and the new Titanium HD are listed as "Creative SB X-Fi". Could you guys have at least spent a few minutes to change the Device Description and 'Friendly Name' to Creative X-Fi Titanium HD???

  • 802.11n standard bandwidth.

    Hi,
    I am reading things about the 802.11n standard, but I have some things that I do not understand very well.
    So, can someone tell me what the maximum bandwidth in the 802.11n standard is?
    That bandwidth is dependent, if I used a 20MHz or 40Mhz channel?
    What is the role and how that as to do with the bandwidth?
    The maximum bandwidth that I can have is 300MHz or can be more, for example, 400MHz or even more?
    The 802.11b/a/g standards, the transmissions of data are wall made in half-duplex.
    In 802.11n standard, the transmissions of data are wall made in full-duplex? Is MIMO something to do with this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rui Capao

    First point you are getting your MHz and Mbps muddled but no worries
    Max bandwidth for 802.11n is 600Mbps this is with 4 spacial streams using 64QAM and a guard interval of 400nS and 40MHz channels (channel bonding)
    Thats the absolute maximum in the standard however I am not aware of anyone doing that at the presentr time.
    Cisco maximum is 150Mbps on 2.4GHz and 300Mbps on 5.0GHz. This is because its at least impractical to channel bond 2.4GHz due to channel interference but you can on 5.0GHZ.
    Each data rate is given an MCS (modulation coding scheme)index value.
    The data rate can vary also by the guard interval which has two options of 800 or 400ns. If we take Cisco max of MCS 15 the vlues are
    20MHz channel 800ns GI 130Mbps
    20Mhz channel 400ns GI 144Mbps
    40MHz channel 800ns GI 270Mbps
    40Mhz channel 400ns GI 300Mbps
    Smaller guard interval more bandwidth. Also if you double the channel width you get slightly more throughput than simply doubling the data rate as the bit where the two channels join is used more efficiently.
    802.11n is not full duples its just alot more efficient than 802.11a/b/g its still a collision domain that uses csma/ca.

  • Full height pcie slot

    Is anyone using the full height PCIe slot in the x120e?
    Nothing I put in there is recognized in Windows 7.
    If I move the current 1/2 height wireless to the full slot, it still does not work so I know it's not the card I'm using (which works in the 1/2 height slot).
    I've tried a new wireless card and an HD decoder card and nothing works in the full slot.

    I *think* it is designed solely for a WAN type card, so no dice for me.
    I've tried a wireless card (Intel 5300) and a Broadcom HD decoder with no luck.
    I've even moved the 1/2 height card that came with the device into the full height slot and it simply isn't recognized.
    No BIOS errors, but the device (no matter what I put there) ever shows up in Windows.
    The parts list lists it as a "WAN" slot, so I guess that's all that will work which is a horrible horrible disapointment.

  • How full can I let a 256GB PCIe SSD get?

    Hi all,
    How full can an SSD get before it becomes a problem/degrades performance or causes excessive wear (or will Apple's wear leveling take care of the excessive wear potential)?
    I'm looking at a 2014 2.6HGz model with 16GB of RAM and the 256GB PCIe SSD (I don't think I want the Fusion Drive), but I suspect it's too new for anyone to answer that question about that specific machine, so I'll ask it in the MBP and/or MBA forum if I don't get an answer here.
    Don't know if it would be any different with a 2.5" form factor SSD, but if anyone has any info on that, that would be helpful too.
    I've tried googling and haven't found an answer yet, so here I am.
    I'd be running 10.10 with FileVault 2 turned on and using TimeMachine via external HDD. I have about 120GB used on my current HDD so that's about what I'd have on the new one. At this point in time, I'm sure that free space is not an issue, but I wonder if it could be as the SSD gets more and more full.
    Any help is appreciated!

    mjl2013 wrote:
    I've had many SSD's, starting out with the Intel X25M-G2 80Gb. Often there are recommendations of 7% over provisioning and I regard that as a minimum.
    I've been doing a LOT of reading on this since my OP. It sounds like some manufacturers hide the 7% so it's safely stashed away so users cannot get rid of it, while others don't, but it's a recommendation as you've stated.
    Due to the work I was doing I used 20% which leads to a speed increase and to a longer life expectancy. At one stage I had even allocated more but it was overkill. For "normal" usage I would be somewhere between these two extremes.
    I like to be safe, so I like the 20% idea.
    I've just ordered the 2.8 Ghz model with the 256 SSD, for me it is the model that has the "sweet spot" and I'll be wanting to have at least 15% free space.
    Does that leave you room for expansion for the length of time you expect to keep the mini? Or are you using an external drive to store data on?
    Wonder if you've looked at my other thread asking about the 2012 quad vs the 2014 dual i5? I think I'm leaning toward the 2014, and was thinking about the 2.6, but then saw that an upgrade to the 3.0 was also an upgrade to an i7, granted for $200 more. And I think I'd like the 512GB SSD and 16GB RAM to make sure for the future (this $699 mini is getting awfully expensive!).
    This free space can be unallocated (as in "not partitioned") or a part of a partition that is not filled up completely.
    It's getting late and I'm going cross-eyed from reading so much, so perhaps that's the reason, but I'm not following you here. Would you mind explaining a bit more or a different way?

  • Accessing full 32 DIO lines on PCI-6602 in C++

    Hi,
    I have seen a couple of posts on this topic, but none seem to contain an answer to the question, and the documentation in the Register Level Programming Manual appears to be incomplete.
    We need to access the full 32 DIO lines on the PCI-6602 card; however, only the first 8 lines (those driven by the STC) are documented.  Is there any example code or further info that would allow us to use this functionality?
    We are programming in C++, using the Driver Development Kit, in QNX.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Monte

    The 32-bit digital port registers were not included in the chipobject (by mistake).  The digital intput register is at offset 0x414 and the digital output register is at 0x510.  To access them you can use the tAddressSpace object directly:
    u32 value;
    value = Bar1.readU32(0x414); // read digital 32-bit port
    Bar1.writeU32 (0x510, value); // write digital 32-bit port
    For configuration, use the IO_Pin_x_x_Configuration_Register registers to configure the line for input or output.
    For example,  to configure line 0 and 1 for input
    tio->IO_Pin_0_1_Configuration_Register.setIO_Filter_0_Select (0); // no filter
    tio->IO_Pin_0_1_Configuration_Register.setIO_Pin_0_Select (0); //input
    tio->IO_Pin_0_1_Configuration_Register.setIO_Filter_1_Select (0); // no filter
    tio->IO_Pin_0_1_Configuration_Register.setIO_Pin_1_Select (0); //input
    tio->IO_Pin_0_1_Configuration_Register.flush (0);
    or lines 29, 30 and 31 for output:
    tio->IO_Pin_28_29_Configuration_Register.setIO_Filter_29_Select (0); //no filter
    tio->IO_Pin_28_29_Configuration_Register.setIO_Pin_29_Select (2); // digital output
    tio->IO_Pin_28_29_Configuration_Register.flush (0);
    tio->IO_Pin_30_31_Configuration_Register.setIO_Filter_30_Select (0); //no filter
    tio->IO_Pin_30_31_Configuration_Register.setIO_Pin_30_Select (2); // digital output
    tio->IO_Pin_30_31_Configuration_Register.setIO_Filter_31_Select (0); //no filter
    tio->IO_Pin_30_31_Configuration_Register.setIO_Pin_31_Select (2); // digital output
    tio->IO_Pin_30_31_Configuration_Register.flush (0);
    valid values for the select field are:
    0 - input
    1 - counter output
    2 - digital output
    I hope this helps.

  • Is PCI-6025E full duplexing ?

    Do E series DAQ boards work in full-duplex mode ? Especially PCI-6025E .

    I believe I may have sent you an e-mail about this. However, I would be glad to post about it here as well.
    Full-duplexing is not a term we commonly associate with our DAQ boards. It is usually used in reference to serial-type communication that can go both ways at the same time (such as a modem). The best answer I can give on this is that the 6025E you asked about has 3 additional DIO ports (PA, PB, PC) which can operate in Bi-Directional Mode. This allows them to function as both inputs and outputs. The 6025E User's Manual is the best place to find more information about this.

    Within BF2 sound options you can only select X-Fi if you are in 'Game' mode.
    Selecting Game mode with v4.5 works but not with v4.55.
    Using PAX PCI XFI PAX Audio Suite DVD 20 V.05 also.
