I recently upgraded my computer, my new system config?Operating System: Windows XP Professional?
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+,? MMX,? 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.5GHz
Memory: 2046MB RAM
Page File: 470MB used, 3468MB available

My problem is that i?could not?get sound out of my headset even after turning?the volume controls to max, but works fine with my 2. speaker. since i share?the room i cannot use my speakers all the time. So i started playing tunes on winamp and begin to tweak around with the settings?when i moved the balance to left or right i get sound but?when centered it sounds like i am sitting in a cave and hearing distant sound. So i did some google search and found the CMSS simulates multi speakers on the headphone and it activated it using Creative audio console. now i get sound but no bass at all and music sounds like cheapy speaker. Then i tried CMSS2 sound level increased a bit but in came crackling with it. Also when i play world?of?warcraft or Counterstrike all i hear is music but no?game sounds of?gunshot or foot ste
ps.
I thought my headphone wass busted so i plugged it on my old system with?a turtle beach sound card?and played music and it'ssounds fine so i eliminated my headphone as?the problem. I do not have the CD?that?came?with the card originally so i can't use those?drivers either. Not sure if this would have anything to do with it, but in Speaker Settings, do you have "Synchronize with Control Panel" checked?

I have reinstalled Windows XP SP3 lately and installed just the Audigy_SupportPack_3_8 as driver for my Audigy2 ZS. I have a Sennheiser PC50 headset.
Now I can't get EAX to work.
The EAX setting in game is enabled and it sounds different than without it but I can only distinguish left from right but not top from bottom and front from rear.
Am I lacking any driver component?
How do I setup the audio device in Windows? Headphones or 4 speakers?
Do I need CMSS 3D? CMSS or CMSS2? Even if the game supports EAX?
What about optimize 3D-Effects for headsets? I use a headset, so I should enable it's
And also I can't find the suround mixer, is this not included in this support pack?

Re: SB Audigy 2 ZS and Windows 7 - Full Package driver?T While Creative has written new drivers and some applications for Windows 7/Vista for the Audigy, they have not re-written or updated all of the original applications on the CD. This card is very old now. What Daniel K. did was take all of the applications or most of them, and tweaked them to properly install and include themselves in the registry on operating systems other than Windows XP. For the full and most recent package, check here:

If the application you want is not included in his package, then you can try downloading the official Creative version and install it on your system in "compatibility mode" by right clicking the file, and choosing properties, and then the compatibility tab and choosing "Windows XP service pack 2 or 3" and it may or may not function.

Audigy 2 ZS and Headset, Mike doesnt w

I have a Logitech headset that works when I use my factory Realtek onboard audio on my Sony Vaio desktop computer. I have installed the Audigy 2 ZS soundcard and I get sound out of the card, but I cannot get the microphone input to detect my microphone. When I switch back to the Realtek it works again, by plugging the mike into the realtek rear port. When I switch to the Audigy I plug the mike into the input port on the Audigy and select the Audigy card in the sound control panel, however, the system doesnt see the microphone.

I have a similar OfficeJet and it was a multi-step process. (1) Install printer drivers on the machine, (2) Add the printer queue in print & fax, (3) Run the "setup wizard" from the disc for wireless printing.

Problem with Speaker and Headset in Windows Vista

Hi, I just got my Macbook Pro 13" and having problem with speaker and headset when working with Windows Vista (I have installed the driver from bootcamp). The sound very weak if I play music from Itunes or youtube even the volume already full and if i put my headset the sound not coming out. Is there anyone can help me to solve this problem?

When you post about Windows / Boot Camp, in Mac Pro (workstation) forum where others with a MacBOOK would be more likely to have same hardware configuration, and you won't find Windows drivers on Apple downloads. More like at

A few questions about bluetooth technology and headsets...

Alright I am new to bluetooth technology and headsets, and want to do the proper research before I buy one.
1)I have seen some have 1.2 and 2.0 technology, so what is the difference and should I only look for one that offers 2.0?
2)Do they all offer a vibrating alert?
2b)Or just those really big kinds that look like hearing aides that have that little box behind your ear?...

You might try Google and look for answers, these are pretty comprehensive questions regarding a broad sweep of headsets. You might get answers on a few models, or just Apple's, here.

Flash Drive not mounting, shows up in sys. prof. and USB Prober

I have a 4Gig Flash Drive that doesn't mount. It shows up in both SYstem Profiler and USB Prober. Is there any way to "fix" it? I don't need to recover any files - I just want to be able to use it.
It used to work, maybe a year ago. Havn't touched it since.
The port is just fine, it's definitely the drive.

it doesn't show up in disk utility. unless there is a way to force mount it, disk utility can't help.

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Recording Prob

I recently re-installed my audigy, and for some reason I cannot get any sound when I plug my guitar into the Line-In on the front. I check the recording/playback setting, and everything seems to be ok. I'm wondering if it might be a problem with the hardware. Any thoughts?

If the card came supplied with the PC, then you may need to contact Dell to get specific drivers or applications for it.
Is the card working correctly now? Is it listed in Device Manager, with no error messages? What did you use to reinstall, was it a CD, or a driver? If it was just a basic driver pack, then it's likely that doesn't include any extra applications.

There are several choices if it comes to Audigy (emu0kx) drivers;
First you can use the last official Creative Labs' driver for the Audigy series which you can download on the official driver download site here at Creative Labs' site, but you will loose a lot of apps/softwares, but it should work;
The second one would be the mentioned Daniel_K's driverpack 3.8 for the Audigy series which works pretty good, although I dislike the individual installers/uninstallers for each applications which makes uninstallation of the driver very annoying.
The third one would be the Project KX driver which is very light in size but very powerful, especially for recording and other music related purposes. There's a learning curve since it really looks different (interfaces for example), but once you have found out how the KX driver works you will be happy you own an genuine Audigy emu0kx soundcard.

Soundblaster Audigy and Windows

I've just installed Windows XP on a new hard dri've. I'm running an older computer with a 700mhz Celeron processor with an Audigy soundcard. On Windows ME it worked fine, but since upgrading, sounds work fine, but when I try playing music of any kind it locks my machine up so bad I have to shut it down manually. I've tried reinstalling Windows and the soundcard drivers, and nothing works. Is there a known issue with the Audigy and Windows XP?
I'm greatful for anything you can tell me, I'm at a loss.

Audigy and ddts-

After i opened the box today and hooked up the ddts to my promedia 5. ultras....i was very happy. I am running my ps2 into it with a toslink, and it sounds great. I have a audigy regular (mp3 or gamer), and the only setup I can get to work with it is with the digital coax and the converter to /8, HOWEVER, when using the digital coax i do NOT have the option of anything but stereo! I got the ddts mainly for up-mixing my mp3s. Can you get anything else (ie prologic, or neo6? is there a better way to hook them up? I tried using an old cable i had laying around from an old minidisk player that has one side /8th and the other toslink, however I'm not sure if it even works correctly in this application. I tried hooking up from the audigy to the ddts with a /8th to rca, and could not get any sound, except for some buzzing in the center channel. I also recieved today my creative audigy 2 zs notebook, however my dell inspiron 9200 wont get here for a few days . Will I have similiar problems with this? If it turns out my toslink to /8th cable is faulty my plan was to go buy a toslink cable and the /8th converter and use it that way. Will that work properly with my new notebook and/or my current desktop? My goal was to have all three components (ps2, notebook, desktop) hooked up digitally (I love anything and everything 5., including my mp3s). Should I be having this problem with my audigy and the digital coax? Should the /8th to rca work?

Analog output on the soundcard --> DDTS-100 switchbox
Switchbox --> DDTS-100 main unit
Switchbox --> Speakers
Digital out on the soundcard --> Coaxial input on the DDTS-100 main unit
The digital output on the soundblaster can ONLY SEND OUT EITHER A PCM STEREO SIGNAL OR AN ENCODED DATA STREAM (AC-3). In order to make the DDTS-100 decode the data stream correctly you MUST have the software set to SPDIF passthrough and also have that set in the Audio HQ or the Audio console. Put the switchbox to decoder mode. The only way to light up the lights of the DTS and Dolby Digital is to feed the main unit with an encoded data stream of those sound formats. If you try to play anything and put it through the digital out that is not DTS or DD you are going to get... Stereo.
In order to get sound from the side speakers you must first set the switch on the back of the DDTS-100 main unit to 6.1/7.1 and set the upmix to 5.1-->7.1 or 6.1-->7.1 (depending on the source) on the main volume controller of the S750.

Filenames in ufs_write and zfs_write probes?

I'm trying to find a way to get dtrace to capture filenames of files that are being written to in ufs or zfs filesystems. I don't want, for example, writes to device files.
I got the following from a post on the OpenSolaris forum (http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=472665)

With this, however, I get all the /devices/psuedo/pts* with every shell command that gets executed. I've tried processing the self->filename variable with subsequent probes in order to narrow it down to what I'm looking for, but I keep running into various problems.
What would be really helpful if there was a way to grab filenames within the ufs_write and zfs_write probes instead of having to use the syscall::write probe. Does anybody know if there is a mechanism in the file system probes that is similar to the above example?

The fsinfo provider is not documented on the the DTrace documentation wiki. Or, if it is, it's not on the front page with all the other providers. (http://wikis.sun.com/display/DTrace/Documentation) Not sure I would ever have stumbled across that on my own.
Playing around a bit I also found that:
args[0]->fi_dirname gives you the directory the write took place in
args[0]->fi_mount gives you the filesystem mountpoint the write took place in

Conflict between audigy and Olympus voice recor

I have an audigy se recently installed. Seemed to be working fine until I opened my Olympus voice recorder program. Just opening the program knocked out the sound card and I could not get it back again. No speakers in any application on the computer except the diagnostic test. Then the speakers would play. But no cd's, no wav files, no nothing. Tried checking and unchecking all the boxes. There really aren't that many. Only way to solve the problem was to uninstall and reinstall audigy and not go to Olympus anymore. I've done that several times to confirm that is the problem.
Any suggestions?

Some past post here mention of this too.....and the mods suggestion does indeed helped some of them resolve it. Perhaps you can try it. What you need to do is uninstall all Norton and Creative software. When you're done with that, install Creative software first follow by Norton stuff.

Controlling Master and Headset at the same time

I'm using GNOME 2.14 and using a laptop computer for all my needs. I've
3 controls (Volume Up, Down and Mute) on my laptop that I use to control
the Master channel. But if I connect a headset to listen to my music, I
have to manually change the volume from the mixer. Is there a option or
some kind of work around that I can control the Master and Headset
channels at the same time.. I want them to be the same always..?

If you have setup keyboard shortcuts to run specific commands with xbindkeys or the like, you can make them run these commands:
amixer set Master 1- & amixer set Headphone 1-
amixer set Master 1+ & amixer set Headphone 1+
You have to investigate how to match them as on my box the headphone command changes more than the master, so that you might need to use 3 -/+ from master to match 1 -/+ from headphones for example.

Hp pavilion g7; speakers and headsets playing at the same time suddenly.

When i woke up this morning, I found out that my speakers and headsets are both playing at the same time. It did not do this before and I've been really stumped in finding a fix. I have gone through most the the related threads about this online but none of the fixes have worked for me not even system restore.
