SB Audigy 2 Platiunum ex on Vista - Recording device "Currently Unavailable&qu

Hi, thanks in advance for any help!
I'm having difficulty recording on Windows Vista. Having installed my soundcard recently from a previous computer, I downloaded the relavent Vista Driver: "Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series Vista Driver 2.2.0002" (6 Mar 07). I have not installed the beta version released 02 Jun 08 (perhaps someone will recommend i try that).
Now, I opened up a recording software (Cakewalk Sonar 7) - and followed the instruction for recording. Upon not recieving any level information from a mic plugged into the Audigy "Line-In /Mic" - it recommended I open up Windows Vista "Sound Recorder" and attempt recording from there, which failed with the following pop-up message: "An Audio recording device cannot be found".
It then automatically opened up the "Recording" tab on the?Sound control panel where i could see the recording devices listed: They were listed as follows:
- Line-In /Mic, Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM), Currently unavailable
- Line-In 2, Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM), Currently unavailable
- S/PDIF-In, Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM), Working
- "What U Hear", Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM), Currently unavailable
The "Currently Unavailable" seems to be the crux of the problem - have i done something incorrectly, and how do I make them available if this is where the problem resides? I tried selecting the Line-In , etc, as default with no results from that Vista recording program (When i selected S-PDIF-In, the vista recording program?allowed the record to begin, and when saved, played back nothing but noise).
The sound card is working perfectly normally - I can hear sound, and even get the plugging in jack noise when i plug into the Line-In slot on my Audigy box in addition to being able to speak into my mic and hear myself back through my speakers. I am quite confused! Surely a solution is kicking me in the face...
Many thanks in advance for any help in remedying my current recording crisis!

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum with Vista 64

0Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum with Vista 64Y Hi
I'm considering buying a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum (with front panel) off ebay, but first I'd like to know if certain features will be compatible with my system. I'm running Vista Home Basic 64bit (hardware is an Asus P5Q-E, Q6600, 2GB of RAM, ATI Radeon HD4850, etc). I'll be using this card for my PC's 5. surround sound system (using the stereo outputs), and more importantly, recording some music. I want to achieve this by using the optical S/PDIF port, as my bass guitar effects board has an S/PDIF output and I've got an S/PDIF cable. I'd also like to use the Line In and Mic inputs. The driver before the latest one for this card said that there was no S/PDIF passthrough for Vista. Has the latest driver got everything I need fixed, so I can just plug it in, install the drivers and then be happily recording through these three inputs?
    Thanks for the help?

I am brand new to this message system but I am so desperate for help I thought I would try it. After reading lots of comments I find that my problem may be more the rule than the exception. I have an Audigy @ Platinum card and all I ever get from it is crackling and popping. I have been around and around with Creative support but nothing they tell me results in a fix. I am so disgusted at this point that I am ready to just trash the whole thing. I have gone through the BIOS and checked so many settings its a shame. Still crackling and popping. I NEED SPECIFIC ANSWERS FROM SOMEBODY...not just the generic flip the wingle wangle to port xyz and move this to that. here has got to be an answer to this maddening problem. The other thing is that now I can't get my MIDI keyboard to play back. I must have turned something off in the set up process but now I have no idea what to do.
If anyone has any solid answers for me PLEASE come forward with them before I kill someone!

  • Audigy 2zs Gamer and Windows Vista / Windows 7

.Audigy 2zs Gamer and Windows Vista / Windows 7? Hello, I am just wondering if it is a known issue to have really loud static and crackling when playing games using this card in Vista or Windows 7. I had this issue playing Bioshock a few months back on my Vista boot. I never figured out a way to resolve it so I belei've I just eventually uninstalled the driver and used the card without a driver install (not sure but I think this what I did). It worked but I might as well of just ran onboard sound...
Now I have installed and tried to run Windows 7 on a dual boot but I started receiving really loud cracking and popping in Warhammer Online and realized I had not installed a driver for my sound card. I did not expect creative to have a Win 7 driver yet but thought perhaps the Vista driver would work in compatibility mode, it does and sounds awesome and really makes me remember what I am missing without my driver installed on Vista but unfortunatly it randomly starts the crackling and popping again after a while...especially when a lot start happening on screen (pvp raids with many characters on screen and magic effects).
When the crackling starts happening I have no choice but to exit the game and restart the computer to get rid of the noise, but randomly it comes back after a while during gameplay. So as a temporary solution I have installed my onboard sound drivers and have been using that for sound output and my mic port on my sound card for my microphone. I would REALLY love to get my sound issues worked out in both Vista and Win 7 because it sounds SOOO awesome while it's working, the popping though is terrible, I never had that issue in XP.
I know this is an older card but any help would be appreciated!?

One thing you do need to learn is that SHOUTING IS MUCH HARDER TO READ!
But, if you are using Audition 1 and it works with XP, then if you have the chance, I'd stick to that on a new machine. Apart from anything else, it's completely untried with Windows7 and with Vista its a) likely to have problems, and b) going to run slower.
The other part of your question about the 'look' of later versions is that 1.5 looks pretty similar to 1.0, but with 2.0 and 3.0 things have changed somewhat - rather more with Multitrack View than Edit View. Basic operating principle remains the same, though - most people have had very little trouble transferring from one to another.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - can't record from front panel "mic-

I'm using an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum. I have an electric guitar plugged into the "mic-in" port on the front panel. I can hear the guitar through my speakers but I can't record from any program. I've tried using "Creative Wave Studio" and XP's "Sound Recorder" but it doesn't record.
I can record by plugging a microphone into the back mic-in port.
This is very frustrating, please help
    --Dan

First is to set the Recording device to MIC2. The front panel device is considered the second microphone. Basically whatever program you use, I would assume it has to recognize this second microphone. Make sure you ahve it selected under the sound mixer (task bar Icon) "Line in 2/Mic 2" underneath "REC" on far right side. Then you can go from there.
    |)O( Try this, if not use the old Hamer to Front of PC method, lol.

  • Smart Recorder - Audigy 2 ZS - Win 7 - "no audio device available"

LSmart Recorder - Audigy 2 ZS - Win 7 - "no audio device available"nI've got Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and a Creative Audigy 2 ZS. They've worked fine together, but I recently tried to install the programs that come on the CD and I can't get Smart Recorder to work.
It has a message saying "There is no audio device available on the system. The application will now close."? I checked my control panel and it definitely shows a my Audigy 2.
I found an old post that suggested using the CTZAPXX.EXE on the CD, but it didn't do anything. I watched the CPU go to 50% usage, but nothing happened for minutes. (http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/Speaker-settings/m-p/40229)
How can I fix this problem with Smart Recorder?
    Thanks,

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 platinum pro ex Vista prob

Hello. I am using this card for two years now and it is great. It has everything i need. I dont want to change it now. It works great on Windows XP and I am using surround mixer and other features without any problems. But sometimes I?need some of its features on Vista Ultimate. I need surround mixer because from there i easily set my playback and recording devices. In Vista, i have to go through several windows just to set recording source level. I read some posts here today. Is it POSSIBLE that creative didnt come up with some sort of simple mixer with playback and recording devices choices and levels? Just a little mixer. How is that possible? I really like Creative products and this is the only one i have problem with. I understand EAX problem and other stuff, but I only ask for a simple application that will make my work on my PC much, much easier. I? saw some download URLs for modded driver CD here on forums but i dont know if that would solve my problem and if it is a final solution. Are there any plans to release a mixer similar to one in vista now but just with another logic so I dont have to go through so many windows to set levels, balanse. etc... Please. Vlado

Two thoughts, faulty card or faulty wiring/connections. Most likely
    the wiring/connections.

  • Recording Devices window crashes Vista sys

If I right click systray sound icon and select Recording Devices the?window freezes. If you try to open anything or force quit you get a black screen and only option is to reset power. This is with the driver 6.0..272 on Vista Ultimate 32 bit with Fatality, 6600, P5W DH?Deluxe, 7950, 4Gb good ram and no OC. I also get the SCP with Vista and I never did with x64.

I had exactly the same problem and have managed to solve it, however it took me several sleepless nights.
The faulty driver my Card reader used was ver. 6.10.10.32 (according to info in Device manager). I found another driver on Lenovo's website (http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/8axw02ww.exe ; ver. 6.20.11.42 dated 4th July 2012). What I did was install the new driver. During the installation process I found it was not digitally signed, but I continued the installation process anyway. Then, in Device manager, I chose the Card controller (in IDE ATA/ATAPI section) and clicked on Update driver. I chose manual installation and indicated the place where my driver was saved (by default: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MULTICARD). Windows won't let you use the driver straight away as it lacks digital signature and here is how to cope with that: http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/how-to-install-use-unsigned-drivers-in-windows-vista-7-x64.... . I followed "Solution number 2" and the "Finding out what files to sign" section. If you do it carefully, your drivers will be signed automatically and the whole procedure will finish at this point.
The only difference is that my Card reader is now listed under Storage controllers, which changes nothing, in fact. I have tried using different SD cards and have not encountered the BSOD anymore.
    Hope you'll find that useful.
    Cheers,
    Robert

  • "Adobe Captivate could not detect a recording device ..."

Adobe Captivate shows my Snowflake USB microphone but doesn't record sound from it. When I choose Calibrate I get "Adobe Captivate could not detect a recording device". However, I can record from the microphone in all my other apps (Rosetta Stone, Sony SoundForge, etc.), so I know it's not a hardware issue.
When I go to "Sound" in Vista Pro's "Sound" option on control panel the Microphone is chosen as the default recording device, and I see the bars moving up and down when I talk.
What can I do to get "Captivate" to see the Mic?
A temporary workaround I found is to plug the Microphone into my laptop, then select SPDIF in as the input source. Captivate still gives the "... could not detect a recording device..." error, but the sound records anyway. This is kludgy, however.

    Hi there
You may well just be out of luck. I heard Captivate 2 and Vista Pro used together. I don't believe Captivate was fully compliant with Vista until version 3. So that may explain things.
Unless someone pops in with a better idea, you should be able to record the audio separately, save as WAV or MP3 and import into your slides.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Audigy1 - Vista current drivers - inputs "Currently unavailable"

I set out my title as best as can to discribe this, I have also had a quick search, quick look through the FAWs and stickys, and I cant see an answer reguarding this.
Basicly I wanted to do some recording, so I plug my device into the front of my audigy platinum front pannel, fire up my program, and... no sound. so I try all the other ports, the AUX, the line in2, the line in on the PCI. I make sure the programs are selecting the correct port. But nothing, not recording.
So I pop into he sound control pannel and all my creative inputs are "Currently Unavailable", well I lie, not all of them, the microphone one says its working, just doesnt appear to be accepting any input either.
    Any ideas?

It's not a bug, it's a feature (courtesy of MS). Ages ago it was decided that only one recording source can be acti've using OS APIs and now they decided to further confuse people labeling the inacti've inputs as unavailable. Right-click on the source you want to use and select 'set as default'.

It keeps disconnecting my internet access. Also, both "What You Hear" & "Microphone" in Recording show as "Currently Unavailable". And with that, the microphone and music does play fine on speakers or headphones, but I could not use its for talk live through the internet (i.e. PALTALK) or mixing music.

["waht you hear" (disabled and unplugged devices checked) not in recording devices? I have scoured the windows7 and creative forums and cannot find a solution.
    PLEASE HELP!
    I did a fresh re-install of windows7 32bit.
The previous install was running Creative Driver .04.0900 for an onboard Sound Blaster 24bit
    chip(CA006-DAT), on a MSI/K8N/NEO4/SLI/Platinium mobo.
I open audio controls, then recording devices. Check disabled and disconnected devices.
"What you hear" appears and I am able to beat match Arkaos, R4, Gforce,...
The current install, same hardware, installed Creative Driver .04.0900 as well as Creative
Audio Control Panel and Creative software Autoupdate thru Windows Update.
I open audio controls, then recording devices. Disabled and disconnected devices were already
checked. "What you hear" not listed, only Microphone, CD Audio, & Line-In.
If I open properties for devices, Recording or Playback, there is now a Sound Blaster tab. Open SB
tab and select settings for Creative Audio Control Panel.
Hedphone Detec., Performance, Restore Defaults, Speakers, EAX Effects, CMSS-3D, SPDIF I/O tabs on
    panel.
"What you hear" device shows up nowhere.

If u have a Dell Branded X-FI sound card and are using vista there is no "what u hear" go to the Dell XPS forum and read the FAQ at the top of the forum. "Stereo Mix/What you hear/waveout mix"
