SB Audigy 2 ZS / Cracking Sou

Hello,
i own one SB Audigy 2 ZS , which i was happy until the cracking has begun.
I dont know what the reason is for this, but i checked all issues which can cause
this. I completly Reinstalled my Windows XP Prof. and just installed the Game BF:2
afterwards. Still not working, and my System Freezes somedays with a silly sound
when i play Games, so i need to reset my whole System with the magical Reset Button
When i play i also use Teamspeak 2 to comunicate with my fellows and teammates.
In game i use " Push to Talk " like it is B for the Game and Q for Teamspeak 2.
I also tryed to Uninstall DirectX 9.c which was said in a forum on Microsoft MSDN.
This didnt help, i also tryed the Guide which is posted as a Sticky here in the Soundblaster
Forum. This didnt help either. What can i do now ? Is this Issue getting fixed ?
Thx Human

  • Audigy 2 Platinum, cracks, pops and had enough! Please he

Hi everyone, OK, I know this has been documented before, but I cannot get a resolution. I have an Audigy 2 Platinum. Most importantly, I just built one huge PC out of two perfectly working PC's. The PC the Audigy 2 Platinum was in, was working fine. Now, in my new super duper pc that has everything, it is crackling and popping all over the place, and its really driving me mad. The only time it doesn't crack and pop is when playing a sound file back through Windows Media Player, but i use multi-tracking software, so that doesn't help!
OK, I have two MARC 8 channel soundcards also in my new PC, but they do not conflict. Trust me, they don't. (I removed them and i still had the same fault) I think it is the onboard soundcard on the new Motherboard i have as I checked in MSCONFIG32 and sure enough, it shared the same IRQ. I cannot find how to disable this onboard soundcard in my BIOS which is ASUS Revision 05 (Award Medallion v6.0) Please help as it is driving me into oblivion!
The other difference this PC has over my old one is that it has 4 SCSI divices, two Hard dri'ves (one removable) one 2.2gb ORB dri've, and standard CD dri've.
Please help me!! I am going mad!

    Hi guys
If your computer has any VIA chipset, and if your computer has any of the following problems, then you might need this driver.
The computer stops ("freezes", "hangs", "locks up"), or makes unusual noises when playing sounds.
The computer stops, or files are corrupted, when copying to or from an IDE DVD, CDROM, or CDRW dri've.
Sounds played by the computer are distorted or have a "crackling" noise.
The computer stops when playing 3D graphics or games, especially on an ATI Radeon series video card</LI>
There is a patch for VIA chipset and the patch WORKS for me! Try them at - http://www.georgebreese.com/net/software/ Look under "PCI Latency" patch for VIA chipsets. If you do not have a VIA chipset, you could also try the Turbo patch mention at that website.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS no sou

    Hi!
I got 2. speaker. I have been try to connect it in my Audigy 2 ZS card but I dont hear anythin
I got probably some problems with settings but I dont know what or I have connected it wrong...
I use WIN XP Home Edition. I hope someone could help me
    Thanks!

    Tehy,
    Initial things to check:
) Make sure you have the front speakers plugged into the line out # (the third plug from the firewire port)
    2) Run the Creative Diagnostics program and the tests within. It is found in Start/Programs/Creative/.
    3) If anything fails then you will want to go through the FAQ at the top of this board and follow the cleansweep and reinstall procedures.

  • Audigy 2 echo/static sou

Im getting a choppy echo/static noise when i play certain games on my computer. I'm using an Audigy 2 card. I notice it happens when im playing a graphically intense game (IE Counter-Strike: Source, Halo, etc). My graphics card is a Radeon 9600XT. The cards are positioned farthest apart from one another, the audio being at the bottom most PCI slot. I've tried reducing my graphics to see if that was the problem, but nothing seems to work. Help!:smileysurprised:

  • Audigy ES crackle/poping whenever I record and playb

When I upgraded from an older Biostar motherboard, cpu and RAM this past month i recently reformated my hard dri've for a clean sweep. I am a musician and when I installed the drivers for the Audigy ES normally as well as Abode Audition nothing at first sounded any different.
Now that I upgraded to an Asrock K7VT6 socketA MB, 2600XP Athlon 333mhz fsb 52kbL2 cache CPU, and a single module of Rosewill 52mb PC3200 ram- when i record with my microphone jack on the Audigy, i get cracking and poping randomly from the Audigy ES. I checked to see if it was directly from the sound card by trying different cords, input sources, etc.
I am definite that the sound is from the Audigy ES, but I've never had this problem before I upgraded my hardware and did a clean install. I also uninstalled the card and all CL software along with disabling onboard sound and moving the Audigy ES to a different PCI slot.
    Same thing.
Could it be because of my upgrade there may be some hardware interfearence? Or perhaps I 'fried' the Audigy ES somehow?
    help?

this is a pretty common problem amongst athalon xp chip users. It's my understanding, that on board raid chipsets play a part in the noise too. I've found though, that, I've had that problem before, and, w/not only a clean install of windows, depending on what features you're bios has, theres several ways to improve, if not even fix your situation. If your board has mp support enable it to ./.4... this will allow you to have many IRQ's (it's essentialy multiprocessor support on a uniporcessor board) Also, instead of automatic pci support, go manual, and choose IRQ 5 for the soundblaster. Another trick is to check enable memory hole in bios. I've virtually eliminated these issues, using these things, however, I find that, VIA chipsets, G-force cards, Creative cards, and winXP pretty much blowz for stability, so, get yourself a nforce chipset, w/an amd 64 chip, and discover what mac users have known for a long time.... multimedia and 64 bits is the shiznitz. (even when runnin at 32 bits.. :-))
    Stealthy
    ps.
.. if I remember more, I'll post again. Oh... Remember, on clean install of win2k/winXP, if you click <f5> when it's asking<f6> for scsi (if you need scsi click'm both several times) <f5> will allow you to make choices relating to the type of pc you're installing your nt5 os too... choose standard pc if you want to be able to manually choose IRQ's, and acpi uni if you've got that mp support. Good Luck.

  • Solved Audigy 2 cracking noises in particular situat

The annoying crack/pop sounds can be caused by other PCI-cards.
Take my case for instance: a PCI card called "SkyStar2" (a satellite TV tuner) used the PCI-bus in such a way that new chunks of sound for the Audigy did not arri've in time. Clicks/pops/cracks as a result! But, I had been using this configuration for quite some time and it never happened before.
Why? The card appeared inacti've from a users point of view (at least for me, not viewing any TV channel etc.), but in reality it hogs the PCI bus when the Satellite antenna cable is disconnected or when the signal from the satellite isn't strong/stable enough to have the tuner's PLL lock to the incoming signal. At first I suspected Windows update broke something (happens sometimes, but not this time ).
You might say, "I don't have that satellite card". But... you MAY have a similar problem with your hardware configuration! When all software 'fixes' are exhausted (new drivers, OS reinstall etc.) you should consider removing all your extra PCI-cards from your system.
Do not assume anything will work together, just try it! Even cards which just 'sit there' and *appear* to do nothing can generate traffic on the PCI-bus. Remember, PCI devices can initiate traffic on their own; they don't need the CPU!
Notice that PCI-express cards are an exception, they don't need to be removed because they have their own dedicated data channels (lanes).
Now when the sound problem disappears, try re-installing the extra PCI-cards one card at the time, notice when the problem gets back... Voila, you have most certainly found the offending device!
If that didn't work, I'm sorry. My tip is then pretty useless. As compensation, I've included some of the standard solutions found on this forum and elsewhere:
    - try new drivers (audigy 2 warning: as I found out the newest Audigy2 drivers do NOT give any digital sound output for some reason and breaks older applications, like the surround mixer and other nice Creative audio configuration tools, so only install them if you like spending the whole night to get the old drivers back! now where's that CD-ROM? )
    - try different PCI latency settings (double dawg utlity)
    - try a different sound card (but not connected to USB of course)
    - check your windows processes and CPU usage (it shouldn't be more than, say 6-8% for an idle system)
-- sub tip: you don't want to have any virusscanner CONTINUOUSLY scanning ALL FILES you have on disk; but even that should not 'click' or pop the sound on a good PC
    - check for 'IRQ' sharing. Are there any devices with the same IRQ (via Windows device manager), that might be a problem, try changing the assignment.
-- sub tip: this is more a driver problem; I believe nobody is as stupid to write a driver which doesn't correctly handle this. It's such 'basic material' for driver writers. And even if they did, they would VERY QUICKLY notice it ;-) But YMMV.
Do some research on the net, perhaps read this excellent Sound on Sound article:
    - Try different PCI latency settings for 'other' cards. Keep your soundcard at 64 and try lowering the latency for other devices
NOTE: don't make the values too low, that will lower the overall performance of your PC?
With this post I hope people with a similar problem don't have to spend as much time (4 hours in total) like me to find out what's wrong.

  • Audigy 4 Pro "beeping, cracking" where is créativelabs label quality

I just installed my new audigy 4 pro with the Gigaworks s750.
Well, all is fine with the sound quality but when i solicite more the system hard dri've, there is some loud bad noise that appaird.
i contacted the heldesk, they told me to r?install my windows!
I'm not really happy front of this lake of quality from cr?ati've.
I used a AC97 chipset onboard before and no disturbing noise appaird during transfering files or open heavy applications.
I seen in the forum that many X FI chipset present the same problem when playing games.
The help desk ask me too to change the pci slot or install the audigy in another
    computer !!! thru!!
I responded that is not my job to make the card working but , yes i can give some feedback to them.
I think that creativelabs are front of a situation now that they slowly loose they good reputation with they new products that are not really stable and ready for the sale.
But many companys use this system to put a product on the market.
The first buyers pay the reshearch to finish the conception of the final product.
where i don't agree is to pay so much amount of money for a product that they said is working (4 pro) but is still in prototyp or beta testing !!
I will r?install my windows (it will be more fresh..) but i'm practecely sure that it will not fix this problem (like i read in http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=3426
Hope that the drivers will fix this, and note a hardware problem (irq or latency from the card himself)
    hanny comments will be welcome...

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • SB Audigy 2 ZS and "clicks" on sou

    Hi there!
I am new in this forum and noob to use search engine and don't know what is correct english word for this "electrical clicks" ("napsuminen" in finnish).
So, I have new Audigy 2 ZS PCI on my Windows XP SP2 machine. Card is on slot 4 on my MSI 865 PE mobo. Early audio card was SB Li've! Value in same slot and with same 4 speakers. But now this new Audigy 2 ZS have this electrical clicks problems.
In Control panel I can tell that there the day is 8.0.2004 (day, month, year) and version is 5.2.2.444. I have installed first drivers from CD and after booting installed with Creative web site auto-upgrading system something and booted again. So, today (5.6.2005) is wednesday and I am using the newest driver what in Creative web site.
Question: Is this problem in hardware or software? I cannot wait many days becouse I can return this sound card to store with faulty (guarantee/ guarantly etc. on english).
So help plz. In other I am happy with this sound card and willing to keep it. But clicks are too much.
    -EmDzei

    Hi EmDzei
Have a search through forums about pops, clicks, cracking sound, static etc... You will find that you are not the only one experiencing this problem.
I personally have it too. And am not sure what is the problem. But I seriously think its the driver problem as if you use some third party drivers such as www.kxproject.com you will not experience such problems. So, for the time being, just bear with it. And hopefully creative will fix it soon.
I am very annoyed with it too. What no can do.. ;(

  • Audigy 2 problems with spdif out not working and cracking appear

    Hello everyone,
I am new in this forum but after searching through it i decided to post as i din't find a problem exactly similar to mine.
I have a Creative audigy 2 ZS plugged on my computer with this configuration : Gygabyte P35 DS3, Quad core Q6600, Kingston 2 gb.
From the beginning of my purchase i did not have any problem of cracking or connection problems in spdif with digital din in either XP or Vista. Last week end i decided to re install XP after a virus infection with XP SWEET wich install directly the drivers of my peripherals like the audigy.
The audigy is connected to my speakers : Creative? 5. kit 5700 via the digital din connection and without any analog connection as i selected digital out only in my settings.
Everything was working fine until 2 days ago when? while watching a divx the sound stopped working. i checked everything in m connection and everything was good as well as my speakers. finally i connected the audigy via analog cables to the speakers to find that, if i select digital out only no sound could be heard and finally that poping and cracking sounds started to appear.
I don't know what happened with my system as it never did that before in any of my configurations.
When i reboot my computer, the digital out start working again to finally stop 5 minutes later.
If somebody can help me is help would be most welcome.
    Thank you!

Well, I do not know much about the red light thingy, but if the S-Bracket works well, it should be not problem, unless you can't get anything from the S-Bracket.

  • Cracking audigy 2 ZS after drivers upd

I updated my old drivers (the CD drivers) with the online drivers, after all the process and reboot, when I play something, audio comes with cracking noise..
I tried to uninstall drivers, reinstall old drivers, change the pci slot of the card, but the problem still exists.
With another soundcard (not creative) everything works fine.
    What can I do?!

You mentioned mics (several I suppose).
Audigy 2 Zs Notebook does have only one mono microphone input shared w/ analog line-in and S/PDIF (a multi-purpose input 'port' called FlexiJack).
As a PCMCIA audio device, I suggest you to get E-MU 66 or 66M instead of SB Audigy 2 Zs Notebook.
There are also plenty of USB and FireWire audio interfaces available you can use w/ laptop.

  • Audigy 4 (non-pro) missing sou

Hi I just got an Audgy 4 card for xmas and it seems like a nice card. I'm having problems with certain games though.
A couple of examples, World of Warcraft the music does not play and some sounds are missing... Prince of Persia 3 has sound but not in the cut sequences. Other games experience missing audio in places too.
I noticed if I turn acceleration from full to standard all sound works fine, but then EAX does not work. But one of the main reasons I wanted this card was for the EAX support.
I have the latest drivers/direct x/win xp sp2 and I'm using desktop stereo speakers at the moment. Anybody have any ideas?

I think you should try some modded driver. It will provide better sound. Try these following links and find out which driver will give your favorite sound. But remember to back up your system (system restore is a good choice before doing so)

  • Audigy and HL2/CSS 5.1 sou

I have an Audigy ES with the Jan 2th Vista beta drivers. I cannot get true 5. sound from Half Life 2 or CSS... for example when I do the sound test ingame, the 'Rear right, rear left' sound come out of the front speakers as well, which shows it is more like a stereo sound upmixed for all 6 speakers. Does HL2 require ALchemy to get true 5. Or is there no solution at the moment? It is also the same on my Realtek AC97 onboard.

Hello Deadly,?Go and get ALchemy and install it. then go into the program folder (of ALchemy) and copy the dsound.dll and dsound.ini to your Executable folder. Which should be something like C:/Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/(account name)/hl2.
Then modify the INI file and put the duratino to 5 and that should fix your problem.
Tried it on my CSS (not in game but rather the TEST YOUR SPEAKER button) and everything is back to normal after this.
    Hope this helps

  • Audigy 2 ZS gamer Edition Sound Crack

Hey all. I just want to preface this by saying that I've read over the guide by xmn, and sadly that hasn't helped get rid of my problem.
    First of all, I have a Dell Dimension 3000 with 2GB CL2 Dual-Channel RAM, a 3.0GHz Pentium 4 w/HT processor, and a Radeon 9250 256MB PCI Card.
Secondly, the crackling I get happens mainly when I'm using certain games, and not when I'm using Winamp, Windows Media Player, or the like. It seems content to disrupt sound in games like Ragnarok Online, Dark Corners of the Earth, and Beyond Good & Evil, etc.
Originally thinking this was a problem with my old Intel Extreme2 integrated graphics card, I disabled that and used an old nVidia one, before switching out that and using this Radeon model; the problem remained constant, so I'm fairly sure it isn't any DirectX problems.
The Audigy 2 ZS I have installed has only the audio drivers installed with it, which I then patched (the new version includes a basic audio console). The problems remain, but judging that they're happening "outside" of basic Windows operation, I'm beginning to think it might be caused by games believing the default audio device (onboard SoundMAX) to be the one to process sound. Since I've disabled the onboard sound device already, that leaves me guessing.
Further, Control Panel>Sounds & Audio Devices>Audio Tab>Sound Playback > Default Device has Modem #0 Line Playback as an option, and although I've uninstalled and removed the 56k PCI modem, it still shows up, which I think might have something to do with the problem.
I think that's about it. Thanks for trying, people!

So I had the same problem with my Audigy 2 zs... I would also get sqeeling sometimes... I wanted to smash my machine.. I figured I had an old machine so I upgrade... All new components except for the sound card... No Crackles... but within a few months it came back...
Again.. Wanted to smash this sound card. I found this forum and after months nothing helpded except... this one guy told me this crazy idea to go into every nook and cranny, EAX, THX, Volume, etc. and click on default.... Of course I thought this guy was nuts but I figured I tried everything else.. Holy Shiat
!!! It actually worked. What I guess is that my volume was some how too high... OR since the card is very dependent on software for switch modes it reset the card.. Anycase... It eventually came back but as long as I do not put the volume above 70% I do not get it after of course click on default.. . If it comes back I do the same thing and it goes away... Gi've it a try and let me know if this was an isolated fix for myself and the other guy that told me about it.

  • Can line in, in the audigy 2 nx provide a 7.1 sou

Hi, I connected my mixer to the line in in the audigy 2 nx. I only received 2 speakers working and the sub, while i have a 7. system.(750)
Is there a solution to connect my mixer and receive a 7. surround sound?

Found two different ways to make the VIs for NI-FGEN available. Install with LabView 7.0 support, then either:
    1. Functions Palette | All Functions | Select a VI
and browse to the "labview 7.0\instr.lib\niFgen"
    directory to select the VI
    or
    2. Copy the niFgen directory from the LV 7.0
    instr.lib directory to the LV 7.1 intstr.lib
directory. This will make the VIs available for
selection from the palette where context
    sensitive help is available.
Is either of these a correct choice, or is there a better way?
