SB Audigy 2 ZS help

Hi, I have a SB Audigy 2 ZS [CC80] and I recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. On WinXP I could apply sound filters in the EAX tab of the audio console. In the tab there were 2 sets of filters; environment and I forget the other one but it had genre filters (i.e. rock, techno etc.). Since upgrading to Win7 the second set of filters is no longer available (the genre filters). I've done everything the same way as with XP same driver versions and no success. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Yes this card is pretty old. If I remember correctly, there is only basic driver support for this card. Some of those features are not available in Windows 7. One way to keep those features would be to install the sound card on a dual boot system.

Ok I have had my audigy 2 value for a while now and never had any problems but 2 days ago it stoped working, well for the most part anyway. When i try to play music off my pc i get an error message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly." So?I went into control panel and sounds and devices and everything is ok but the?playback option is grayed out and i cant select a devicebut the sound rec and all that is working i even went to sound recorder and tested it and it worked. I then updated the drivers from this website to the newest ones and still didnt work then i moved the card to a differnt pci slot and still nothing. I just find it wierd that everything else works but the playback. I am on windows xp and have done nothing to the computer software wise or hardware wise from the time it was working till now. Any help would be apreciated.Message Edited by chuck987 on 03-7-200604:5 PM

I had the same exact issue a few years ago, after loading an internet optimizer program?on my system. Did you load any software during the last week? Another cause may be your system is corrupted by malware, virus or worm. Try launching add/remove programs in Control Panel to remove all the Creative software. If you're running Windows XP, you may also need to run msconfig.exe from C:\windows\pchealth\binaries folder. Disable all audio startup items you find there and reboot. If you know you're system is clean of "critters", you can reload the original drivers for the Audigy device. If it doesn't work, then it could be the hal.dll has gotten corrupted. Look at both the System and Application logs in the Administrati've Tools section of Control Panel to see if any unspecified (or hardware-related)items are painted with red flags. If so, you'll need to "flat and reload" your PC.

  • Audigy 4 Help S

Hi there i'v been trying to read up on the Audigy 4 Non-PRo OEm it comes without the remote.
It is cheaper than the Audigy 2 zs
What is the main difference between the 4 and 2 series? Will it do hardware EAX in BF2?
Is this just a rebadge Audigy value 2?
There aren't many reviews on the NON-PRO version so i'm tryign to figure it out
is it as good the 2zs?

It is in between the Value2 and the 2zs.
The PCB is the same of the value2, but the chip has the DTS-decoder and slightly better DACs, the 2zs is totally different in design but not that much in quality (its better but not a huge jump) it has a higher price because it comes with front panel, firewire port and other things
    The three cards have EAX4

  • Sound Blaster Audigy SE help

Hi, I am having issues getting any kind of sound recording/mic feedback to happen at all on my computer. Orginally I was using the onboard soundcard and everything was fine. I had to reformat and after I did, I couldnt find the correct drivers for the sound card again so the recording part of the on board sound card went out. Yesterday I bought the Sound Blaster Audgiy SE sound card, hoping that with its installation, I would solve my recording input problem. To my dismay it didnt. I am wondering if anyone could help me solve this issue. Please post with anything you can to help me out. Much appreciated
    Thanks

You're not alone. I'm having the same problem. Unfortunately, nobody seems to have an answer or solution to this problem.

  • I've lost my SB Audigy installation CD. Is there any chance to have a microphone worki

Yeah, I've lost my SB Audigy installation CD, and after a recent format I can't install AudioHQ, Creative Recorder, PlayCenter and all that software - I just have the drivers, which I downloaded from the internet. Is there any chance to have my microphone working again? Becasue ATM it does not work, I bet I need some software from the insallation CD to get it to work, but I no longer have that CD! Can I download what I need from the internet? Can I somehow get another insallation CD? Finally, will it work if I plug my microphone into my motherboard's integrated soundcard, and my headphones into SB Audigy? Help me... I'm gonna have an important UT2004 scrimmage soon, and without a mic I'm useless there!

  • How can I narrow down what's causing CRC errors over internet downloads?

I'm trying to determine if its something wrong with my hardware configuration, my software or my actual internet connection that is giving me trouble.
Recently with my new build I am noticing all my downloads being large or small ending up either not fully downloaded or just full with CRC errors.
I'm not even sure where to begin as I've been trying to troubleshoot this for a few days and it just seems to keep getting worse.
My initial problem was the new nforce ide drivers that didn't quite gel with my optical drives.  I ended up unstalling the ide drivers and my optical drives worked correctly again.  (problem with optical drive was when you put a dvd writer (lite on 411s) in the system would freeze and not play the movie until the disk was ejected - then everything would return to normal)
After trying to find a fix or someway to get the drivers to work I started to notice I had trouble downloading large files off news servers.  For the past 3 days I just downloaded random stuff that looked to be complete as in all the files were there with pars.  I download the files and the winrar gives me crc errors and the pars say the files are incomplete.
Then I start to try to download any large file off the internet - game demos mostly off gamespy.com and the downloads just stop midway.
All these problems just started to add up and I'm having a hard time trying to narrow down and knock off what it is and what not.
Basically to start is there a way I can see if it's something related to my ide drivers, aspi drivers, internet connection, cable problem etc.  Please help, it's driving me nuts.  =)

Are you running xp sevice pack 2?  I was having issues with having to refresh my browser several times to get a page to load,   and downloads sometimes stopped.
I downloaded the following sp2 patch from microsoft and it fixed the refresh issues,
    http://www.winnetmag.com/windowspaulthurrott/Article/ArticleID/44014/windowspaulthurrott_44014.html
If you are browsing while the download runs,  it could be sp2's new 10 connection limit.   I tweaked it to 50 connections and fixed ie stalling when loading long forum pages with alot of signatures present.  (I tweaked it with xp-anti spy)
    Can you tell Im guessing?
Possibly a bad ide or sata cable?
Have you tried running memtest to test for errors?   I prefer goldmemory as I believe it is more sensitive to errors with an a64.   It found errors memtest didnt.
This system is giving you a much harder time than it should.  Maybe you have a flaky board or memory errors.
good luck at any rate.  (p.s. its 3 am here,  couldnt sleep,  prob not making alot of sense at this point.  lol)

  • Please Help:(,Unable to capture from camcorder using Audigy 2 ZS Video Edi

Hi there! Well I have been trying to use the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 zs video editor to transfer Hi8 tapes from my camcorder (Samsung SLC860) to my laptop (Compaq presario, AMD Athlon 64 3200+, .25 GB RAM, xp). I have successfully done this before *sort of*. Before i was able to capture video from my camcorder without the sound. But now I cant even capture video! I get an error when using Ulead VideoStudio 8 SE reading: 5065:29:0. Please help, anything would be great! Thank you! Oh, i've tried reinstalling the drivers already, didnt work. P.S. I connect the camcorder to the Creative Audigy using S-Video. I have also tried A/V out from the camcorder to video-in on the Audigy. I have also downloaded VidCap and other driver updates from Creative but those didn't work either. I've tried VidCap other capture programs, none worked. Any help would be great. Thank you!

Hi there! Thanks for the reply, unfortunately, I've tried VidCap and it wont let me capture either. The Start button on Step 3 isn't acti've. Its not bold, and when i click on it nothing happens. But under device manager and Sound, Video and game controllers, there are alot of things. They are as followed: Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Legacy Video Capture Drivers, Media Control Devices, Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor Audio Device, Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor Video Device, SoundMAX Intergrated Digital Audio, Video Codecs. Do you think any of these could be interfering with one another? If so, which ones can be safely disabled? I've also tried downloading all the necessary updates for VidCap and I've even tried reinstalling the Audigy card many times. I am able to see the preview of the video on both programs VidCap and VideoStudio but I just can't capture. Once again, the error message on VideoStudio is: 5065:29:0. Thank you so much, hopefully I hear from ya soon and this can be fixed.

    :mansad:
Dear Fellows,I have recently upgraded to a new Pentium 4 machine. Once I install the operating system (Win XP) and move to the installation of Creative Audigy Platinum Sound card. All the applications are installed and the system hangs while updating *drivers*. I restarted but it corrupts the whole operating system conflicting with Display Driver, Mainboard driver as well as Windows. CD/DVD Rom also disappear. I then reinstalled operating system again. I would like to request for help and solving this issue and I dont want to get rid of Creative Audigy. I have heard complaints with Hyper-threading technology but I disabled it and the same problem occured. I tried everything e.g. latest drivers from Creative website, BIOS updates, Driver updates etc etc. The problem starts once the drivers are to be updated for Creative Audigy Platinum.Anticipating your response soon.Regards,

    Hi Jeremy,
I would like to thank you for your kind assistance with my problem.
Heres the good news, I finally managed to install and run my Creative Audigy Platinum perfectly.
Credit goes to your assitance and support.
For your info, I would like you to know what I really did.
I have an Intel Genuine 865GBF mainboard. I installed clean copy of Windows XP (SP) and downloaded and installed latest Chipset INF utility from Intel website. I guess this utility tells the mainboard what kind of hardware is configured on the board.
Please note that I did not add any PCI card except the AGP graphics card.
After finishing Windows XP, I installed the Creative Audigy Card in a different PCI slot. When windows started, it detected the sound card installed.
I simply ran the driver and programs from the Creative CD and it installed perfectly. I then updated the drivers downloaded from the Sound Blaster site in correct order.
After finishing with Creative Audigy Platinum installation. I installed other hardware devices, service packs, AV and applications.
Its the third day and everything is running well.
I just wrote the steps if someone else faces the same problem, he/she can sort it out the same way.
    Thanks again for your help.
    Best regards,

Just disable the gameport on "Device Manager" to see if it's the culprit.
Have you also played with mouse settings (acceleration and saple rate)?

     b noir,
I can get itunes to start if I disable Bonjour or if I "repair" it first. Sometimes I can repair Bonjour though add/remove programs, sometimes it will only "repair" using WinRar. Sometimes I have to "repair" Bonjour 2 or 3 times to get iTunes to start.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling at least a dozen times. I have tried redownloading iTunes at least 5 times and from different links. This leads me to believe that the dnssd.dll file is not itself corrupt, but this newest version is causing a conflict with XP somewhere somehow.
Team, iTunes 10.2.2.12 has just been released. I installed it and checked, and BonJour's been updated to version 2.0.5.0, and there's a new 2.0.5.0 version of dnssd.dll on my system. So I reckon it's worth a try updating to that to see if it's of any help with your trouble.

Everything seems to be OK so it's propably the drivers for your modem that is causing the issue. Just try if updating them helps anything.
Also, you can turn the MPU-40 (onboard MIDI/Game port) if you dont need it.
