SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Front Pa

Hi there, I have recently purchased a SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum sound card. I am experiencing problems with the platinum dri've. It has power, but only the firewire is working. When I try to connect my guitar to the line-in 2, or headphones to their jacks nothing happens. Also, in my volume control there isn't a Line-in 2 option. It would be much appreciated if you could help me with this problem... thanks

So, you're saying the surround L/R channels are working? I think we need to know what you're using for speakers. I would suggest swapping some of the cabling around and seeing what results you get from the speaker test. This will often give big clues as to whether the problem is in the speaker system, the soundcard, or the cables.

  • Problem with Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Input

0Problem with Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Input? Hey everyone,
Here's the background of the issue. I got a PS3 over the holidays for literally free
I had my computer out in a testbed style. Plugged the PS3 into my monitor HDMI --> DVI cable, and Red/White into the front RCA jacks of the Front Panel (Aux 2). As soon as I plugged in the cable, I got sound out of my speakers and was able to enjoy my PS3 in 720p
I put all of the components back into the case after cutting exhause and intake fan holes. I brought everything back to school, fired up the PC and PS3. Lo and behold, there is no more sound from the PS3. I know that PS3s are temperamental in moving, but I hooked the audio up to my TV and the sound came out just fine. The AD Ext cable looks like it's secure and in place. When I hooked up a mic and headphones to the front, they worked fine as well. However it seems to be just the AUX 2 RCA inputs that dont work anymore. Any ideas about how to fix this issue? Is there a function I have to turn on now in the software to allow sound to pass through? Any information would be wonderful!? I'm going to try an optical cable in the near future, just need to borrow one from a friend =/

    Problem Solved.
I had moved my cards around for better airflow. I moved the SB Audigy card from the bottom PCI slot to the top. Thinking this might be the problem, I moved the video card back to the top slot PCI-E and the sound card to the bottom PCI slot. Sound is now working again. Thanks for the thread views?:smileytongue:
Think that when I have to buy Win 7 for real if the problem would still persist if I moved the card again? Or is this a hardware limitation?

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Connecti

I recently began recording my band in our home studio. My mixing board is a Midas Venice 240 which has two balanced XLR outputs from the master bus. I am wondering what method I may use to connect this output to the /4" stereo input on the front panel of the Audigy 2 Platinum. If I just purchase a Y-adapter to combine the two channels into one XLR and then convert it to /4" TRS jack will both channels be preserved? Are there any sound quality issues that arise from this method of connection? I was hoping to get answers to these questions before wasting money buying unnecessary adapters.
    Thanks

The BEST way to do this is to go to radio shack and buy two (yes 2) of their?XLR to /4" Impedence Matching Transformers, AND?one (yes )?dual /4" female TS (tip-sleeve) to single /4" male TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) "Y" cable. Unless your mixer also has /4" main outs as well as the XLR... then you can just use the Y cable and skip the transformers. Or you can use a /8" Y cable with the transformers (and stereo /4 to stereo /8 adapter) and go into the card's line in jack on the actual card. Which is how I did it for a year or more untill i got a firewire recording interface (and it worked darn good too with my Soundcraft mixer and some good microphones). Either way,?you need the transformers for optimal results. The reason is the mixer's output impedence and level doesnt match that of the soundcard's input... mixer will likely overdri've the card, or the signal will sound weak or noisy.. The transformers?are cheap and are darn handy for loads of recording functions, and will provide the Audigy with exactly the type of signal it needs, properly transformed from the mixer. If you do this, you can record ALL of the mixer channels IN STEREO with all the panning, effects, and levels preserved. If you have multitracking software like Cubase or similar, you can even record an individual instrument (or even 2 at once, one panned left, one right... each assigned its own track in your software), come back on a new track (or pair of tracks), and record a different instrumet (or 2) and build a multitrack recording one performance at a time. PS:? you CANNOT just hardwire the mixer outputs and combine them into a single channel. A mixer is needed to properly combine?signals. Don't do it
!!! Have fun... and rock on.PSS:? make sure your overall cable is as short as possible. If you must run it for more than 6 feet then run it in XLR mode and convert it very close to the computer. The non XLR section of cable is an antenna for noise. The XLR section will be shielded against noise. Also, the transformers are kinda heavy so do not plug them into somthing and allow them to hang in the plug becasue the hanging weight will ruin your jack. Its best to run cables to the transformers, allowing them to lay on the floor... in a safe place where they wont get stomped on.

  • Can Audigy 2 Platinum front panel connect to X-fi?

    Hi,
I'm about to build a new i7?system and am debating buying an X-Fi Titanium (non-fatality)?to replace my Audigy 2 Platinum. Is it possible to connect the front dri've bay from the platinum to the X-Fi card? If not, I'm wondering if it is worth the switch. I'm not keen on paying any more than the price of the standard titanium card, so am not looking at the pro, etc.
    I'd appreciate any thoughts. Thanks!

Oh well, it is already ordered. It is rather absurd in this day and age that Ceati've charges 00 plus dollars premium?for such simple functionaility. Even M-Audio seems to provide better connectivity solutions on its low end interfaces. I have one of those. Guess I can just get an RCA to /4 inch or XLR adaper.
Still looking forward to the X-fi, though,

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Probl

Hello everyone. Thank you in advance for any help.
My problem is two-fold, let me begin with the first issues.
Critical Issue One: On my Audigy 2 Platinum neither the headphone jack nor the Line 2 in/Mic 2 in jacks appear to be at all functional. I can get no sound to go in or come out using them. Additionally, I don't see a volume slider to control either of them in the surround mixer. Is it possible somehow that the entire front panel is disabled? I looked inside my computer and it appears to be connected firmly (the AD_EXT cable is the only one connecting my sound card to anything internally). As a side note I have already tried doing a full, clean reinstall of the drivers, to no avail.
Issue Two: I can no longer auto update my drivers using Creative's site. I believe this is somehow related to IE7, it always functioned perfectly with IE6. When I try to update now the message I get is: "Some components are corrupted." I did a search in the knowledge base and followed the instructions to fix this problem (Deleting the Acti've X controls) but this does not resolve the issue (I also noticed by searching the forums that people with similar problems never found a resolution beyond "doing a manual driver install"). I believe that the acti've x controls that I am downloading get corrupted each time. Is it possible that someone could send me, fully functional non corrupted creative acti've x controls that I could install? Or is this simply an incompatibility between the creative site and IE7?

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Front Pa

I recently suffered a hard disc crash. After rebuilding the system the front panel on my Audigy 2 Platinum does not appear to work.
Specifically, the firewire port on the front panel does not detect my iPod, whereas the firewire port on the card at the rear of the PC works fine.
Any ideas as to a) how I can find if the panel is working or b) am I missing some drivers?
    Thanks
    Phil

OK problem solved. The flat connector on the card at the back of the computer was very slightly loose on one side only. I could only tell when I actually tried to move it myself - it certainly looked OK. Strange that the audio made it to the speakers OK but not to the headphones!

  • Audigy 2 platinum front panel h

    Hi
I have got a problem with my audigy 2 platinum. I want to be able to plug in a guitar or other audio devices for that matter into the front bay. However i go into surround mixer to enable the device but can't find line in 2 or aux 2 listed anywhere. So no sound is heard. I have confirmed there is power to the front hub by checking the optical connection and confirming there is a red light. How can i get the inputs to work?. How do i enable them?.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Many Thanks

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Front jacks

I have a Audigy 2 Platinum sound card with the front panel for a mic, 394 hookup and so forth. What I need to know is what size jacks are used for the In and Out connections where you plug something external in . These are the connections to the left of the front panel.
Thanks for any help that you can give.

    ! Thanks KokChoy-CL
The RCA connectors you speak about are they same as the as rear connectors, 3.5 mm. If so they (3.5 mm) will not go in the front panel.Should they be real tight,I've never seen any this tight. I've had this unit since it was brought to market but, never used the in/out audio until now .We bought a wireless speaker system and I want to use the front panel as it is much easier to get to than the back.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel

I just built a new custom machine and I want to use my audigy 2 plantium. My new case is black and the front panel is white. Can I just purchase a new front panel that is black? Or can I just change the white face plate? It looks like the white face plate just clips on. There is nothing wrong with the device other than its an eye sore. I looked on creative's website and could not find anything about replacement panels. I really do not want to buy a new X-Fi Platinum and spend $99 bucks on a backup computer, as I already have a X-Fi in my main system.
    Thanks for the help.

Actually I'm having the same problem too here.
Did all the troubleshooting I could the only thing left is to test the AD_EXT cable.
Anyone able to give some advise on this?

I have sound through desktop speakers through the back of the sound card(that works). I had to reinstall the drivers to get that to work. Best buy reinstalled the stuff a week ago so i think the internal stuff is correct. The headphones dont even get static on the front, and it wont read mics. Ive downloaded the lastest drivers, checked to see if stuff was muted. Did i miss a step or is the front just dead. Im recording soom vocals for a band audution and need this working really soon. Please for the love of god help.!!

  • Microphone not working: Audigy 2 Platinum, x64,

I can get the microphone to work only when using a special program VSTHost, but not in Skype or Windows Sound Recorder (I'm using Mic 2 port on Audigy 2 Platinum front panel). I can hear the sound going to speakers but records nothing.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Gustavs

I have found it's caused by having too much RAM (4GB). Adding option /maxmem=4096 to boot.ini fixes the problem, but then Windows reports only 2GB. Unacceptable.
Creative, please fix the drivers so that mic can be working with 4GB on Windows x64. Thank you!Message Edited by Gustavs on --200708:50 PM

  • Audigy SB 2 ZS Platinum Front Panel not working-HELP

Hey everybody. I'm new to this forum, but not to computers. I built my computer about 4-5 months ago, and here are my specs:
    Ultra MS Blue Dragon
    ASUS P5GD
    Intel P4 Processor 3.0GHz
    GB GeIL RAM
    6600 GT 28MB Video Card
    Samsung 20GB SATA HDD
    Lite-On and NEC DVD Dri'ves
    Ultra X-Connect 500 W PSU
    Creative SB Audigy 2ZS Platinum
I got the 2ZS platinum from a friend, but I already had a regular 2ZS. I plugged in his front panel to my old 2ZS. The front panel did not work. I then got his 2ZS, just the sound card, and plugged in the front panel. It still did not work. I installed all the software and drivers, and nothing. My sound card works fine, it is just the front panel that doesnt work. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks a ton,
    Derek
P.S. The AD_EXT Cable fell apart a couple of times, but we put it back together. Could that be a problem? If so, where can I get a new AD_EXT Cable?

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Front panel issues

    Hello there,
I originally had the Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum and all was fine. It all worked and the world was happy. I then (won't go into details) managed to damage the card and whilst I still got sound, the front panel and the joystick port would not work. As it was only the card that was broken, I purchased a new Audigy 2 ZS card assuming I would be able to just stick the front panel connector back on and all would be hunky-dory.
As you probably guessed, I am here, so all is not well. Whilst the game port now works, the front panel still does not respond to anything and I am at a loss. Is there some kind of jumper I need to switch or something? What have I done wrong.
All input is more that welcome, thanks...

i am having front panel issues. i think the damage to the card is a potential problem, but i don't think it's the cause for the panel not working. i think something is just seriously wrong with creative hardware. i really don't think pre-sales testing was performed extensi'vely enough. i have had more problems with my audigy 2 platinum in the 2.5 yrs i've had it than a new born baby. to make a long story short, i did a complete upgrade of my system, the only thing i kept was my case and audigy 2 and front dri've bay. i did nothing different than i had before, re-installed windows and everything. everything EXCEPT the front dri've bay works. i do get the red light from the optical out though, so there is power. i don't know what's wrong with this thing. all i can say is: creative you need to get your s**t together, you have as many issues with your sound blaster cards as microsoft has with windows. tech support: you need to do something for once and answer posts that people ask. i posted my question about this problem 7 months ago when it happened, guess how many repsonses i have. ZERO, NONE, NADA, NOT ONE RESPONSE. i don't blame forum users, not everyone knows, i blame tech support b/c you don't respond. i have no clue why, but do something, please.

  • Front I/0 panel on Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum ZS not fo

The front I/0 panel on Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum ZS not found by Creative Volume Control Application. Under recording sources, I can only choose from "What you hear", MIDI Synth, S/PDIF-In, CD Digital, Analog Mix (Line/CD/Aux/TAD/PC), Microphone and Wave. The option to record from anything on the front panel, (Aux-in 2, Line-in/Mic-in 2) have disappeared. I have tried re-installing the software from scratch, just installing Creative Update components and even formatting the hard-dri've and re-loading Windows but it still doesn't work!!?Does anybody have any helpful suggestions on this frustrating matter?

If you're using a dynamic microphone, the Audigy 2 ZS dri've bay has a jumper which you can change for it to support dynamic microphones instead of electret microphones. However once this is done you won't be able to use electret mics until you've changed the jumper setting back.

  • Audigy 4 platinum pro Microphone im

Simple one here, i'm just about to buy some leads to connect my condensor mic to my external hub. I just bought a preamp, yet don't have all the leads for it to work. Will a 'balanced /4" TRS connector' fit into the 'Mic imput'/'line-in' of my Audigy 4 platinum pro soundcard? This is opposed to an 'Unbalanced /4" TS connector'. Help will be appreciated! Carry on being CREATIVE
    P3U6!SUn 3H+

    Hi there,
I nearly freaked out when I got the platinum pro as I thought I could get no decent power in direct guitar and microphones. You said you bought a preamp, but there is a preamp switch for Line In/Mic on the front of the hub. I have been using this for boosting mic and guitar signals and it is okay but was wandering what preamp you bought and if you rate it.
Hope I haven't upset you by telling you about the built in pre-amp as it probably isn't the best quality anyway.
    Cheers,
    Paul D.

  • Midi ports line in ports Fire Wire etc on the Audigy 2 platinum, new Creative Driver for Vis

Hi, I have been using my Audigy 2 platinum dri've for a few years now and have been very pleased with it, the main things I do on my pc is music creation mainly Midi but also some analogue audio as well, I also do lots of video making. I am just about to build a new system with Vista ultimate as the platform, I currently use XP Pro. I have little use for Creative?s own software and personally I do not think it is that good, I know Creative have released a new driver for my sound card But, my question is will my Midi port connections and things like my line in and the auxiliary ports and the fire wire port on the front platinum panel work with this new driver, and without the Creative software installed on my pc, and as we all no by now it looks like we will not be seeing any at all, or not for ages yet. you see I am a wheelchair user and I can not readily fiddly about a the back of my pc that is why a bought the sound blaster so I can easily plug in and unplug what I like, can anyone give me some help or advice on this issue please. ??

Guess I wasn't clear enough. I have uninstalled the soundcard and reinstalled over a dozen times even going so far as making sure all the drivers that the device properties lists are really deleted from the system. I have resinstalled DirectX at least twice using the latest version from MS. The only thing I have not done with DirectX so far is installed the SDK version which I will be doing eventually anyway. I even uninstalled and then reinstalled my video card as it shared files with the sound card. As for getting the latest version of openAL I see little point in that as Windows forces openAL through DirectX anyway and none of my games use it. Nor does the device depend on it to work. Any other suggestions?
