SB Audigy OEM and Vista with SP

I've just purchased the Audigy OEM with the external SPDIF connection. I have plugged this in to my amp (Marantz 9200) and can get sound using Vista Media Centre and DTS or Dolby sound ok. I'm unable to play any music however via the SPDIF connector. Does anybody know a fix for this? Will music play via media player via optical/coax, or do you have to connect the single pin to stereo output? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately if you read the release notes for the Vista compatible driver it tells you not to use it on your particular sound card ;(?http://us.creative.com/support/downl...rtype=&x=2&y=7?Notes:
DO NOT?install this driver for Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit, Sound Blaster Audigy LS, Sound Blaster Audigy SE, or Sound Blaster Audigy Value.<However when you tell the site you have an Audigy Value card it directs you to these incompatible drivers
go go Creative

Yes it is called trying to install the wrong driver for your card. Will work much better if you try installing the correct one,

Also helps if you click on the "Show Details" link on the download page, then you would see that the one you tried to install doesn't support your card,

  • Big Problems with Audigy 4 and Vista 64

Hi there,?I got the Audigy 4 running under Vista 64 Bit. The onboard Soundmax, connected to the speakers in my?Monitor?is acti've, too. The Audigy is connected to a 5. System from Teufel. With XP64 all ist working fine: The systemsounds come out of the monitorspeakers and the sound generated by mediaplayer etc. come from the 5. Sytem.Under Vista it is not possible to get a fine sound from the 5. System - if something is working, then only the satellites are working. The subwoofer is quiet. Also the sound from the 5. system is very bad, with a lot of breaks and so on. What?s this? How can I resolve this problem?By XP64 I have the possibility to change settings in Mediasoucecenter ... here I got nothing... rgds?McInternet?

I'm running the Audigy 4 with Vista 64-bit and it's working okay for me. It's not great - and it's pretty substantially crippled, but I'm getting sound. I would love to have proper EAX support and just some simple bass and treble controls, but it is working for me (using the March 9th drivers).

  • No rear speaker sound with Audigy 4 and Vista x64

I recently upgraded to Vista x64. I downloaded the 6.0..24 driver for x64. I also loaded MediaSource for x64. I am using analog 5. surround speakers from Dell. This setup works fine when I boot into XP pro (with the XP drivers), but I only get front, center and Sub in Vista x64. Does anyone have any ideas for this?

Not sure what to tell you, hopefully someone will be able to help. One curious thing though is that according to my Sound properties in Control Panel SPDIF is working on my Audigy 4,

  • No sound with Audigy 1 and Vista Ultim

Ok.. so I know you cannot use the SPDIF output on the x64 version... so I installed the reg x86 version and I still cannot get the sound to work on my Audigy with my old DTT2500 5. creative speakers..... Is there some setting that I am missing?... While playing an MP3 I am able to see the green bar move up and down on both the Speaker output and SPDIF output but neither of them produce and sound... speaker test works perfect as does my normal XP boot.. please help.. thanks in advance.

  • Quicktime 7.2 and Vista with RAID Arrays

Has anybody been brave enough to install Quicktime 7.2 on their Vista computer which also has a RAID 0 or 1 array? Previous versions of Quicktime have crashed the RAID array necessitating a new computer the first time and a rebuild of the backup RAID driver the second time.
I want to have iTunes and Quicktime on my Vista machine because I have an iPhone and it only syncs with iTunes but I am afraid to try it again. I updated my BIOS and the Intel RAID drivers with a Dell technician a few days ago so I have their "current" drivers but still am not sure this will "fix" the Quicktime crashing Vista RAID array issue.
Any brave souls out there that have tried the latest version with Vista and a RAID array?
PS - I run the latest version of iTunes (7.3.1) and Quicktime (7.2) on my Sony VAIO laptop with Windows XP and it works and I can sync the iPhone there for now.
Dell XPS 410   Windows Vista   RAID 1 Array

That sounds good. Those are what i was hopeful about in your case. I haven't seen a report yet of the Intel Matrix issues being fixed by the Dell-tweaked versions of the Matrix updates. However, there have been successes reported with the direct-from-Intel versions of those updates. For example:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=4677972#4677972
(I'm thinking however, that if the PC manufacturer offers its own versions of the updates on its downloads pages for a model, those are the drivers that folks should go for with their models.)
Prior to those updates to the Intel Matrix coming out, the state of the art treatment (using the older models of the Matrix drivers/application) is discussed in this post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4453007#4453007
But i'd be inclined to go the way you've been going with the Dell technician first.

I have installed CR 2008 and it seems to be doing what I need with
Salesforce.com HOWEVER, I am having one issue I may need help
    with.
I am working remotely (at home) and I have installed it here on my home office
system running Vista.  I copied the reports from the office to here.  When I try
to connect to my salesforce.com data source the login keeps failing even though
I can log into my normal Salesforce.com account with Internet
    Explorer.
    I have no clue what
    might be blocking the login.

It sounds like the IP address of your home computer is not allowed by your SFDC account.  Click the 'setup' link in SFDC, and look in Security Controls->Network Access (under the 'Administration Setup' heading).  If your home IP address is not listed, you can add it using the 'New' button. If you don't know what your home IP address is, you can find it by going to http://whatismyip.com/.

  • SB0413 or Live! 24-bit Dell OEM and Vista

I have been searching the web for a while looking for a suitable driver for my Dell Dimension 900 now running Vista 64 and using a SB043 (Dell version of SB040). Can anyone tell me if they have tried to run this hardware on Vista 64 and what driver they used? I can hear sounds but I have lost a lot of functionality and cannot use any programs that attempt to utilize the hardware.
Barring an answer to this quandary, can anyone suggest a decent SB card as a replacement that will be 00% compatible with Vista 64?

    DonGib,
On the underside of the sound card is an inkstamp. If you could, post that also and that will give me everything I will need to determine this.

  • Audigy 4 and vista 5

so your saying you just went in and moved your card to another pci slot.. how does that make a difference.. u obliviously did something else.. pci slots are not an issue.i got mine to show everything is working and the sound is all like on and the sound at the bottom right is green. It says everything is working properly... but no sounds comes out. What's funny is that , i have a 5. speaker system and appperently, the computer is saying nothing is pluged in and it show the input and says unplugged lol

  • Issues reading and burning with superdrive (mac pro 1.1)

I am starting to experience a very annoying issue: the superdrive in my mac pro started to get bonk; not reading dvd that i burned some time ago with nero on pc; then it started to cause issues while burning with any software (finder, disk utility, toast on mac, and also nero and clonecd using parallels and bootcamp.
The drive in my machine is a IDE Optiarc AD-7170A (that should be either a NEC or a Sony; but either firmware is not recognized by the drive)
The media that i am using are MEmorex -R and DL +R; both of them were working just fine earlier ( i do not burn anything since 6-7 months ago).
Now this is what happens: I get errors while burning, but not while doing the simulation; the error appear at any speed (tried 2X and up); and i tried with ISO images, DMG, just dragging stuff from my desktop and the result is the same: no writing and error message right after the lead-in (i assume; since it stays on lead-in on toaster).
Using bootcamp and vista, with Nero; I get a calibration error; and if i use the built in feature to burn data in vista, i get an error too.
Now; I would give a shot to another brand of media (verbatim? TDK?); but the fact that i cannot burn anything in any OS with any software would be a clear sign that something is wrong either on the drive or on the firmware; hence my request of help to anyone that experienced this issue
    - i cannot update the firmware (that i see as 1.N8); tried to go on the sony and nec sites and download their windows utility but no luck....the drive is not recognized; so i wonder if Apple has no way to let us update a firmware, what is the point of buying a superdrive instead of a normal dvd burner?
    - if my drive is broken....can i buy any dvd-rw drive and stick it in my mac pro?
    thanks for the help!

Thanks for the suggestion; I've installed a new dvd drive and now seems that everything is working fine!
I've also cleaned the old drive, taking it apart, and now at least i can use it as spare to read and burn in case that the new one would not work.

  • 3 or 4 jack cable for Vista with X-Fi Elite

    Hello,
I would really appreciate your help with this if you could spare a moment. Before I start, let me just add two things, that I'm visually impaired, and also no electrician or engineer.
I have a Creative X-Fi Elite Pro that I've installed in my new computer running Windows Vista Ultimate. I've connected my Gigaworks S750 7. Speakers to the card, and double-checked all connections.
The only thing I've done on the computer side is to install the latest driver and console launcher from the Creative website, and change the speakers from the 2. that is set in the driver when it's first installed to the 7. which I actually have.
My issue is that I have NO sound from ANY of the speakers, only the subwoofer.
I've seen an article in the Knowledge Base somewhere that mentions changes between Windows XP and Vista with regard to audio. I'm almost certain that I saw for one of those changes that a different cable was needed to connect to the sound card, namely one with 4 jacks rather than the 3 that are on the cable that came with my speakers.
Is this correct, that the extra grey jack is needed for Vista, or is my problem with something else?
Anyone able to offer any suggestions - I'd be most grateful.
    Thanks.
    Hussein.

I also got the X-fi elite pro, cost me a lot of money. You'd think there will be some good support with that. In XP everything works great but i'd really like to make the step to Vista.
I really don't get how there current top model sound card isn't fully supported by the more and more populair Windows Vista, that's just stupid. Never had any problems with Creative before this, but the last few days have really been an eye-opener. If they don't release some proper drivers soon (or at least say they are working on them) i'll be done with Creative too.

  • Creative Audigy OEM + Genius SW-HF 5.1 5000 = grand problem with subwoo

    Hello!
I bought Audigy OEM 2 days ago, connected it to my motherboard and installed provided software. After updating I pluged in my headphones - everything was brilliant. But in the evening I connected my 5. speakers - Genius SW-HF 5. 5000 Home Theater and I can't hear my subwoofer. In mp3, movies or games it's dead, but in speakers configuration I can hear noise from it, like it should be. Everything is connected like it ought to be and like I said software is the newest one from creative website.
I've found similar problem on this forum:
    Here it is
I don't wanna any bass redirection because my soobwoofer doesn't sound anyway, only other speakers give more bass.
    And here is my question:
Where are drivers which will solve my problem?
The "newest" ones are pretty old (9 Oct 06), didn't you have time to repair them?
You should patch them because me and many other people want to use our sound cards. I googled (Polish Google) for answers and found A LOT of similar cases and NO response from your support group.
    What is this??
I've thought about x-fi sound card but will you guarantee me that it will work properly because it costs twice as much? I don't think so.
Oh and by the way, on the Realtek integrated sound card everything is like it should be but the sound quality is worse, so it can work properly.
    Sempron 2800+
    Gigabyte GA-7N400-L
    Audigy OEM
    Sapphire Radeon 9600XT
Windows XP with SP2 and every update available?
    52 RAM DDR
    80GB Samsung HDD
I'm waiting for response from support group, sorry for my English?

Have you checked the volume button? It might be physically stuck. To determine whether a hardware repair is needed, you need to follow these steps:
    1. Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
After that: test the device to see whether the issue is solved.
    2. If the issue is not solved, you should backup the device and restore it as new.
    In that case, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup.
If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.
If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions
    Good luck

  • Audigy SE and Windows Vista Is

Hi:?In my computer, I have the SB Audigy SE card. I did a full install (not an upgrade) of Vista Ultimate in January. At this time, I had no issues with my sound. Everything worked as it should. Recently, and it is hard to specify when -- but it may have been around the time I downloaded and installed the "Vista" driver for the soundcard -- the sound on my computer got noticably lower - even when at 00%. Whereas, prior to this occurrence, when I put full power on my speakers and on the computer, the sound would result in 0/0. Now, when i put full power on my speakers and on the computer, the sound would be about a 4/0 (tops). I still hear all the sounds fine - no muddiness -- but it just is not loud (even at 00% volume).
    Any suggestions?Thanks. Scott

Hi Scott! I hope you still check out this topic. I have Vista Ultimate as well. Believe the drivers that came with Vista, worked fine. I'm pretty sure they did. But with the driver as of July 09, 2007, my volume is very low. I, as well, have to turn my speakers and Windows volume up. I hope Creative can fix this problem, if possible. When I had XP, which I didn't use the July 09, 2007 driver. That driver is for XP and Vista, in one file. But there seems to be something wrong with it. It's mostly a case with Vista. I sure hope Creative reads this topic, or gets informed on it.
