SB Audigy- Recording from Digital Piano or Phonogr

Have an electric piano with RCA (L/R) Output. Tried recording with the Audigy Card Front Aux 2 RCA Inputs. I have recording device set to Aux 2. Also tried What You Hear and every other selection available.
Does the recording source have to be "amplified" to record using the front RCA's. I have to turn playback volume way up to hear anything. Very high hiss noise at this level.
The Audigy records an electric guitar (through the lin 2 jack) very well and it is not amplified. ( ALL Input devices in the mixer are at full volume (not muted)
Any suggestions please

KokChoy-CL,
Maybe you could also help with this (please):? the Mic input doesn't work on a new SB Audigy SE. I've been reading a lot of posts regarding this problem, but no solutions anywhere.
The Audigy SE uses a "FlexJack" for:? Line In/Mic In/Digital I/O (DIGITAL_IO); all via the same?blue jack. I haven't tried Line In or Digital I/O, but the Mic input is not working.
I know the?Mic is good (the?Mic?works with both onboard audio?and?a SoundBlaster Li've! card on the same machine).
I read elsewhere (for the X-Fi card) that there is a setting for controlling which input?to use on the FlexJack--this setting is nowhere to be found in the Audigy software.

  • GB won't accept transposed MIDI signal from digital piano

For some reason I can’t get GB to accept transposed MIDI signals from my Previa PX-120 digital piano. The connections are correct, from the piano to my MacBook through an Edirol UA-25 interface, and the signal is getting through fine. If I want to record with the piano in default C, there’s no problem. But if I transpose at the piano, GB continues to play it through the monitor in C (the master track is set up to the correct transposed key). The signal coming from the piano is fine, as I’ve tested from the interface to speakers, and the same thing happens when I feed the signal through a Kurtzweil MicroPiano and do the transposition there - GB goes on reproducing it as default C.
The odd thing is that I had no problem with the same set-up with a Yamaha piano. This is probably irrelevant, but it’s strange.
Any help very gratefully received as this is screwing up recordings with piano, voice and guitar, when the piano player needs to transpose in some keys.

I’ve been asking myself the same question. The Privia manual is silent on the point and I can’t get a reply from their Support, though will try again. Unfortunately I’m no MIDI or sound technician, so know nothing about how transposed MIDI signals should work, but, having run tests again, the piano certainly seems to be sending an untransposed signal via MIDI. At least, when I connect the piano via MIDI to the MicroPiano the signal sent does not transpose (I was wrong in my first post about this), though I can then transpose it with the MicroPiano. This would be fine if all I wanted to do was then send it direct to speakers. But if I send the signal on to the Mac from the MicroPiano via MIDI, it doesn’t transpose either, and I’m back where I started.
In other words, neither the Privia nor the MicroPiano is outputting transposed MIDI signal, only default C signal, and this is the problem rather than GB. Does this make sense?
I’d be very interested to learn what you come up with re your Yamaha. I’ll get a colleague to try the same thing. And will also try Privia support again. But, meanwhile, if anyone else has any experience or knowledge, I’d really appreciate hearing.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - can't record from front panel "mic-

I'm using an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum. I have an electric guitar plugged into the "mic-in" port on the front panel. I can hear the guitar through my speakers but I can't record from any program. I've tried using "Creative Wave Studio" and XP's "Sound Recorder" but it doesn't record.
I can record by plugging a microphone into the back mic-in port.
This is very frustrating, please help
    --Dan

First is to set the Recording device to MIC2. The front panel device is considered the second microphone. Basically whatever program you use, I would assume it has to recognize this second microphone. Make sure you ahve it selected under the sound mixer (task bar Icon) "Line in 2/Mic 2" underneath "REC" on far right side. Then you can go from there.
    |)O( Try this, if not use the old Hamer to Front of PC method, lol.

  • Record Movie from Digital Camcorder and Audio Interface

I need to find an easy way to record from outboard audio and video equipment, keep it in sync and create a movie file like iMovie out of it. I have a Digital Camcorder I would like to use, and I have my mic interface and I would like to record from both of those at the same time, without needing to sync it together later. iMovie will let me do this, however it will only let me record audio from an outboard device, not video (or at least, not iMovie '08); it requires use of the internal camera. Does anyone know if iMovie 09 will do this, or another Apple program that will work? I'm also running Logic Studio so I have access to Logic and Soundtrack Pro.

With HD being the new standard, do you imagine that they might make QT able to acquire HD soon? Seems that since it plays HD, it should be able to acquire HD too. thanks for your help!

  • Use computer to control digital piano -- Is this possible?

I connect my Macbook and Yamaha Clavinova digital piano via USB Midisport interface. It works properly for midi input, that is to say I can play the digital piano and record the musical notes in Garage Band. But when I press play button in Garage Band, no music coming out from the digital piano. The music only comes out from the Macbook loudspeakers. But when I use "Test Setup" in "Audio Midi Setp", the digital piano works (that means the testing sound comes out from the digital piano, which seems to suggest that the connection is proper. Can any expert here teach me how to play Garage Band music via the digital piano instead of the via the Macbook loundspeakers? Many thanks for your help!!

looks like the web site is no more. fortunately versiontracker still has it listed:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/23227
I telephoned my local Apple Care hotline today
the person you spoke with doesn't know the difference between MIDI and audio, that would never, and could never, work with any software on any computer.

  • Problem recording from external l

I'm new here, I have a SB Audigy 2ZS, and I want to record from external line to my PC.
I use a external mixer to connect cassette, mics, long plays to the PC, and I connect them to SB Audigy from "Input line". And I use the mixer to amplify the PC. When I want to record the "surround Mixer" software thas not permit select a simple record input, it mixer all lines (wave, CD, CD digital, input line).
That produce a terrible feedback. Are there some way to record only from input line, without switch line by line?
    Thanks
    Mduque

Just click on the speaker icon under the volume controls in the mixer. Having said that it is not really necessary as I am unable to detect any hum by leaving them open. I suspect you may need to reinstall the card.

  • Midi Out to Digital Piano

Casio Celviano AP-450 Digital Piano connected over USB Midi cable to computer.
I can receive midi message from piano to computer.
I can record it to computer with Garage Band.
But I can't playback to piano.
I could not find the way to do it.
I found a plugin named miniO but it did not work in OS X Maverick.
Actualy, I dont know that do I need a third party software.
is there anyone allready make this?
well, playing one or more tracks back to Digital Piano.

You cannot send midi from GarageBand to your keyboard, if that is what you are asking.

  • Recording a live piano performance with GB and iMac internal mic

I am a complete novice with GB. My iMac sits six feet away from my piano, and in a few days my piano teacher will play a concert on it. I am into digital photography, but have no video recording equipment. Can I record this performance using GB and my iMac internal mic, and, if so, how? I would understand completely if you refer me to an article or other secondary source where this is covered.

You will certainly benefit from the mic upgrade. Be aware that most "studio mics" require a microphone preamplifier to bring the level up to something that your computer will be able to see (as well as to provide power if the mic requires it). If the connector is the type that looks like a headphone plug which will fit in your computer input, you are probably ok.
The recording quality will normally be determined by the format and settings instead of the application you are using to record. Stick to 16 (or 24) bit, stereo .aif files and you should be fine. The standard for CD recording is 44.1kHz.
For some information and advice on recording piano, there is an article on my website here: http://doghouseNYC.com/articles/piano1.htm
    Good luck!

  • Logic and technics sx pr53 digital piano problem

I have a mac book pro, and have logic pro 8 set up on it. I have a technics sx pr53 digital piano, and I am having problems getting the sound through to the computer. Has anyone set this equipment up before? and could enlighten me on where to get the info I need. I have connected a usb to midi cable to the computer from the piano, and have a duet apogee audio interface connected to the computer.
    thanks

I had managed to get the keyboard connected to logic, after reading your advice, it worked fine.
However, now there is no sound, you can see that the signal is there when I play the keyboard and look at the transport bar. I have the record button on the gm device track switched on. If I record the keyboard you can see the notes show up on the track, (therefore part of the connection still seems to be working) but there is no sound at all when I hit the keys or replay the track.
I went into AMS in utilities to check and it is still showing the technics info.
Any ideas on what I could be missing?
    Thank you.

  • Recording from vcr

My 17 in G4 powerbook has svideo which allows me to watch movies on my tv. Question is, is this svideo conection in and out? I'd like to use it to record from my VCR to digitize some of my older vhs footage.
    Peter

I've converted VHS movies into a digital format. The easiest way to to that is to get an analog to digital converter box. I have an older version of http://desktop.grassvalley.com/products/ADVC55/index.php which works just fine with my Powerbook. They also make additional models with more features. If you have a video camera that allows an RCA input with a Firewire output, I'd guess that would also work.
The easiest way to do it is to use the iMovie application, then use iDvd to create a DVD. If you get into it, you may find some limitations in iMovie and iDvd, in which case Final Cut Express would be a good step up.

  • Anyone ever try recording from PS3  to Mac using EyeTVHD  ?

    Hello,
I am connecting my PS3 with a multi AV cable to the back of my PS3 and connecting the blue green red cables to the EyeTVHD but I always get a NO SIGNAL message on the Mac.
Has anyone tried this and got it to work?
Is it possible to record games, regular dvds, and bluray using this setup ?
Which are possible and which are not ?
I can record from my regular dvd player ( but picture only - no sound )
The back of the dvd player has a digital video out but I believe EyeTVHD only accepts analog input. So not sure how to get sound if that is the case.
If anyone can help with the PS3 connections or the dvd player sound - much thanks.
Is the only way to record bluray to purchase a bluray writer and would the bluray writer work with the PS3 using EYETVHD with the Mac - man it's really getting confusing now.
thanks if anyone can lead me out of the wilderness here

I am connecting my PS3 with a multi AV cable to the back of my PS3 and connecting the blue green red cables to the EyeTVHD but I always get a NO SIGNAL message on the Mac.
That's probably because, as you describe your setup, nothing is connected to the Mac.

  • Recording from Creative Media Aborts

    Hi all,
I have been experiencing some probelms trying to record onto my computer via the creative media console. I have sound, and the computer registers the sound, but after a certain amount of time, the program simply stops recording and prompts a message "the recording process was aborted".
I run win XP with a sound blaster audigy 2 sound card. The drive I am recording onto has over 39 gigs of space and I am recording from a pioneer djm 500 mixer plugged in via rca cables to the aux line 2.
I am trying to record dj mix sessions and needless to say it is quite aggrevating to realize that nothing is recorded. The maz time I have tried is around 80 min (that of a cd).
Here is the record settings I have been using:
    Channel: Auxiliry 2
WAV, STEREO, 96,000 Khz, 16bit sample rate.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance - Michael

Personally I've never heard of one. I know that Notmad can backup playlists onto the PC, but I'm not sure what format they're in. I'm thinking it isn't M3U though.

  • Recording from DAT using SB Conn

Long time ago I have recorded DAT tapes using my Denon DTR 2000. I used digital recording from CD for that. Now I am considering using SB Connect for burning CD's (DAT?is such an old stuff?don't want to loose my recordings). Anyone has tried anything like that? Any problem with SCMS?

    BES,
Which input on the back of the card did you use? The Line-in is the stereo input. Ensure that you have the cable fully inserted on both ends. Also check with another source such as a CD player or personal radio. This will tell you if the tape player may be sending only the left, or if the input jack is failing.

  • Recording from minidisc to Logic pro 7 via an fa-66

Hi, I'm having issues recording from a sony minidisc deck through my edirol fa-66 to my macbook. I've tried the various anologue inputs on the fa66, the 1/4 jacks and the RCA inputs on the back. With the anologue it's sounds fine until I arm the track to record, then it starts jumping and phasing. Same with the optical input, I press the "Digital sync" on the fa-66, without the "R" record armed it sounds fine, when I arm it the sound starts jumping and a message comes up "saying sample rate not recognised- Sample rate 3674"
The minidisc was recorded from a PA at I assume the satndard rate for mnidisc players of 4100Khz.

If you are using the Digital input (SPDIF) to record from MiniDisc then you are correct that it is 44.1Khz, but are you ensuring that the SPDIF input is set as the master clock? You will need to ensure that is so whilst you record digitally from it.
I can't fanthom why you might be have a problem recording from the analogue outs though. The phasing sound you describe sounds like you are hearing the original sound plus the slightly delayed sound due to software monitoring perhaps?

  • Recording from minidisc to creative player with an x

I tried recording from my?minidisc onto my computer with the x-fi card, through the line-in and mic jacks. When I stop recording and turn off the source, I still have the record volume showing some input even though nothing is on. I?even?tried disconnecting the minidisc from the input jack but the player is still showing some input. This is causing my recording to have a steady interrupting noise every quarter of a second or so. Any ideas where to search for this mysterious input or how to get around this problem.Louis?
