SB Live 1024 upgrade to XP

I am having problems with the software set i.e. recorder and playcenter.
The install for 024 sets up recorder and playcenter which worked fine under Win98SE.
I have done a fresh install of XP SP2.
Reinstalled SB Li've 024.
I then installed the latest driver pack.
Recorder and Playcenter then cannot find the SB card!
I then tried to install the upgrades for playcenter and recorder but these did not recognize the installation at alland failed with an error message.
Any advice would be gratefully recieved ...

Bingo, then there is your problem. See if Windows XP has the drivers in it already, use the add new hardware wizard. If not, try and get 2000/XP drivers.

SB Live 1024 from Dell, no so

Hey, I've got a 2002 Dell 8200 with a SB Li've 024 Wave, Value. I see when I look at properties? 5..2535.0?We had a brown out earlier in the year, partial electircity going, before I could turn off the computer. Since then, the sound has not worked. When I go to check on it the system says it is working properly. I was thinking maybe downloading the drivers would help, but I can't see which to do. I'm not sure if what I have is the Dell 5.
or just the Li've? I tried to find the files in the driver files when it was suggested in the how to find what driver you need, but I couldn't find the ones specified. Anyway, I'm confused. Is your onboard sound card still enabled? If so you will want to disable it in the BIOS and this may get the card working.

LIVE TYPE UPGRADE

Okay gone up to version 2 thru FCP studio and it has wiped out templates media everything and will not find the data I put in from the 2 DVD's. Have read other posts on this with no real help. At this point all I have are the fades and regular text nothing else.
How do you delete it all and start again, or go back to version 1?

Did it really delete them, or does it just not see them?
Do a search for the files using Spotlight to see if they are still on the drive or not. If they are, just make an alias to where LT is looking for them now. The files should be in boot>library>application support>Livetype. If not, put them there.
You shouldn't have to delete anything. It's still there from the original install, it's just that LT is looking in the wrong place.

Setup locks-up my computer during installation.
Therefore I cant get the driver to install itself.
I use the original Soundblaster installation program.

I have had it with this card!
Today I went walking with my dog, as I do every day! And nearby there is a little computer company! There was a guy outside smoking a sitgarette, and i ask him if he had ever installed a SB Li've! Value card! He said he did! After telling him my story, he said that you couldnt install the soundcard from the files you find on the internet! It needed to be done from the supplied disk from Creative, he said! So they put it on a cd for me, me being happy!
Coming home, I found out that I had downloaded the same file, 5 times already from different sites already!
If have read so many threats also, and the only thing i found out is that a driver with a yellow ! means a resourse conflict! And I tried to alter that aswell ofcourse!
I even took the networkcard out, and tried all slots! As I read that first you should install the graphics card, then the sonundcard, and then the networkcard, As resources may be taken from the latter, and conflict with the soundcard as the networkcard installs first during booting!
I have been working 3 days with no end now on this card now! I would have really liked to hear this card work, the reverb and all! I read evaluations that this would be a nice card in sound!
I just give up! All my efforts only made my system going faulty, and I hate that!
Maybe because I have an AGP graphics card? I donnt know any more!
If you have some advice, it would be welcome! Other wise, I go back to my crappy old sound card! Atleast than I get cd and mp3 sound, and a ping when someone gets online!

Imac won't let me install Final cut studio 2..it will let me install the upgrade, but it has no live type and i need it to work on my current projects. How do I get Live type back installed in iMac

I just purchased an iMac for home and went to install final cut studio 2 and it gave me an error saying something about "PowerPC" not used or something like that. Installed the studio upgrade just fine...but it has no "Live Type" which I need to work on projects I have been using in my Mac Pro at my work place. How do I get "Live Type" to install in this iMac? Downloaded Live Type upgrade but that won't update cause there's no "Live Type" in the applications.

It sounds like you have Lion installed on your new imac, although your profile says SL 10.6.8 (you may want to change this.)
If you have the Snow Leopard install disc I believe you can install "Rosetta" from the extras folder which will then, if you have the original FCS2 discs , allow you to select and install Live Type and LIve Type content only from the custom install options.

MSI Live Update will no longer work after recent update

Recently, MSI Live Update upgraded itself and now errors when a scan is attempted. I can start the application, and the scan appears to occur but does not complete. The error is pretty generic:

First thing I did was uninstall the tool, delete the directory, reboot and download and install Live Update 6.x from the MSI site. No change. I figured there was possibly a problem with (one of the) C++ Runtime libraries and checked the system requirements on the MSI website, but all it says its needs is the .NET runtime library. I uninstalled it, rebooted, and reinstalled it but still received the same error. Going with the error, I removed all of the C++ libraries (8, 10, and 12 I think), rebooted, and reinstalled them the checked MS for updates. Sadly, this also didn't resolve it.
Error in the application log didn't help:

I fixed it though--went to Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, found Microsoft .net 4.5.1, hit Change/Uninstall, then clicked Repair. Rebooted after and it was fine.
Windows 8.x has .NET 4.x preinstalled as a part of the OS.
I used DISM.exe which identified a component store corruption (and repaired it). Live Update still errors.
Attempts to install from a .NET runtime returns an error of "A higher version is already installed".
Version of .NET installed: 4.5.51641
I did disable, reboot, and re-enable .NET as a feature but doing so does not revert it back to stock .NET.
I also checked Windows Update after re-enabling it and there were no updates - so its not flushing the binaries if its disabled.
At least I have a direction to start troubleshooting (.NET) - thanks for the tip!

Restore points are out - I let this slide too long. If I go that route, I'll be fixing one app to break 10 others.
If I'm going to reinstall the OS, I'll wait until Windows 10 (I'll do a complete wipe at that time). Live Update is a 'nice to have', but its not worth my time to wipe the OS and rebuild the system.

I'm going to do Productive Upgrade from 4.6C to ECC 6.0 next week with a 7.4 TB Oracle Database and I have already done 5 tests using a copy from Production database let me give answers your questions:

Yes, R/3 4.6C to ECC 6.0 on HP/UX 11 and Oracle 10.2.0.2.
You will find upgrade info that says the database size is not that critical and this is true as long as you do some fixes before the actual upgrades (of course after real live test upgrades with a PRD copy). The last Upgrade test we did we achieved 7 hours and 31 minutes of downtime not including post upgrade that will be the longest part of the whole process. In our downtime we had to include a lot of support packages and this system has some specific industry solutions that makes thinks harder. The first test run used 117 hours. SAP assesment service is really recomended in this kind landscapes and they helped us to do some cleanup of unused tables or unused data that let us move in the second test to 20 hours and with some other investigation and trials by our own we achieve the final 7:31 time and espect to get a lower time during Production Upgrade because the PRD server and DB server are more powerfull . Downtime depends a lot in Hardware and here the servers are running on servers with 8 1.6 Itanium CPU's and 32Gb of RAM, EVA system for DISKS.

I will strongly recomend to do it in two projects unless you have a long time that you could use to achieve all this in one step or in case your post upgrade is really short.

The only way to calculate downtime is to actually doing a test upgrade on a PRD copy. This is also what SAP people will tell you.

How can I upgrade Photoshop CS5 to CS6, and cannot use CC because I would need a different operating system?

Good gracious! Is there really still an upgrade path from CS5? I'd have bet serious money that option finished at least a year ago. Sounds like I would have lost the bet.
BTW I expect those prices are still dependent on where the OP lives. Upgrading from CS5 to CS6 cost me NZ$800 dollars when CS6 first came out. Thankfully, price gouging is appears to be a thing of the past with CC, but I believe that only applies to NZ and Oz, and that Europe still enjoys a price hike for Adobe products.

MSI KT3V + Sound Blaster Live Problem

First, sorry for my english, i'm polish.
Yesterday I sold my old motherboard (Shuttle AK32A), and i bought new motherboard MSI KT3V. After instaling all peripheals I install on formated partition Win2000 SP3, Via 4in1 4.45, Drivers for my GF4 MX440, Network Adpater 3Com-SOHO, and sound blaster Live 1024. After this i instal game IGI2, and try play, After 30 s. in game main menu my computer crashes, screen is black, led on monitor is lights on yellow, after this i hear 10 - 20 second music from main menu in speakers, after this time my computer crashes completely, a hear beeeeeeeeep from speaker, and this moment I can only push reset button :(
I try install many version drivers, from orginal cd, downloaded from internet. And newest version from 1.03.2002. An nothing :( I remove my Live 1024 from computer, and put friend live 5.1, and no changes, computer crashes :(
My desktop resolution is 1128x864x32 bits 100hz When i try play Divx movies after 1 - 2 minuts, frequency of my screen automatic swicth to 50 hz. If I try manualy switch frequency to old value (100 hz) nothing hapend, and i only can restart system :(
When i work on my desktop (Word, IE, Winamp etc.) after 5 - 20 minutes, my system crashes too (yelow LED on monitoir, black screen, same situation) and I can only push reset button. When i remove card from pc, or turn card off in device manager all works fine.
I upgarde bios to newer wersion (1.8), reinstall drivers, reinstall windows in APIC options turned off, remove network adapter, and no changes :(
P.S. On old Mothearboard all works fine :(

Live Update 3 & Broadband

I can't download Live Updates with my Broadband Connection,
When I Try it connects to the tw. web site Identifies my Drivers etc. and the possible updates, when I click on an Update to download and update the wizard downloads the first 92 Kb and then stops.
I have tried all ways to make this work all to no avail.
My motherboard is MS-6585 with SiS 648 Max Chipset.
I can download the drivers independently from the Web site and upgrade this way although upgrading the Bios is more difficult but possible.
My operating System is XP Home with NTFS file system.
my Processor is Intel 2.4 Gb
In the past I have used my broadband to succesfully use Live Update 2.
I have two Computers and now both will not continue the download.
The second comp has a Motherboard KT4V with Via KT400 chipset AMD Athlon 2 Gb Processor and this is networked to the first Comp to use the Broadband connection through a Linksys Router Model BEFSR41.
Live Update upgrades do not cure the problem

Graphics Problems with several games!!!

As I see you use det.XP drivers 43.45. I have read many topics on different boards people having rendering problems with this drivers in games.
When I have upgraded to 43.45 I have experienced 10% performance drop in 3DMark2001SE and also some problems in Line of sight - Vietnam.
Your problem could be in this drivers. Get 41.09 - for me, this is the best drivers released so for for NVIDA cards.

Problem with MSI Board and MSI Geforce 4 with Windows XP

I have a MSI 845E Max(MS-6566E)
MSI Geforce 4 - 420
Celeron 1.7 gig
Soundblaster Live
2 Network Cards
and the usual stuff.
I have loaded Windows 98 on my system and it works fine. But then I load Windows XP on and the system starts rebooting. After it reboots my video resets itself and I have to load it back in. I will then reboot and sometimes it will work, sometimes it will not. I try playing a game or even searching the net for awhile, but out of the blue the system will give a very quick blue screen and reboot. And of course when it boots up the video is reset. I loaded all the drivers I could find on MSI's website and used every video driver made by Nvidia and MSI. If I do a Windows XP update to my system the computer will not even boot up. it will just keep rebooting when it is trying to bring up the login screen. Anyone else run into this with Windows XP?

My system sometime freezes. Why ???

IOS 4.1 issues: 2nd gen ipod touch: safari and weather

In general i did not like what the upgrade from 3.1.3 to 4.0 did to my touch. It become soooooo sloooow on mail and had shortened battery life. However to be fair, the wifi range was improved a little and also network speeds. Clicking on settings however caused a blank screen for around 6 seconds (tap tap tap go the fingers...) whereas on 3.1.3 it was <1 second. Could not revert to 3.1.3 as the cert had expired by the time I got around to it (a couple maybe 3 days) so onwards and upwards...hoping that 4.1 might have fixed a few bugs
(I should know better by now, majornumber.minornumber = upgrade with new bugs, majornumber.minornumber.yetanothernumber = most bugs fixed, like say dos 6.22)
I took the plunge and upgraded to 4.1
good news: some bugs are fixed:
1. it only takes about 3 seconds now (vs 6 before) to open settings
2. battery life seems a scosche better
bad news and weirdness:
1. safari was formerly the king of ipod browsers for me however OS 4.1 introduced a new bug into safari:
on a site I scan a lot for finance news zerohedge.com/rss.xml it comes up fine as before to the first page via a redirect to reader.mac.com -
http://reader.mac.com/mobile/v1/http%3A%2F%2Ffeeds.feedburner.com%2Fzerohedge%2F feed
but when I click on any link in the wonderfully formatted for ipod/iphone RSS feed it now goes to a blank page whereas before it would snap up the RSS synopsis in a blink. Now nothing. On my macbook the feed wroks just fine as it always has of course there it's feeds.feedburner.com/zerohedge/feed without going through reader.mac.com
Could be co-incidence except it was working right before the upgrade and then not right afterwards. Might be an incompatibility with reader.mac.com just introduced... oh well I will just have to write my own RSS formatter for ipod touch and make it work on any browser so I won't need a broken safari any more. Sad really as Safari had quite the edge before.
2. *weather app* I live in San Diego, CA and I use the weather app a lot to check what the temperatures for the day and the week are likely to be.
Right before the os 4.1 update I checked the temperatures for San Diego and it showed expected temps which agreed with the weather channel on the TV right in front of me.
Now this is weird: right after the update, the temps on the weather app now show 7 F more than on the weather channel!
I'm used to both the temps on the weather channel and the weather app agreeing to being off by about the same amount for where I live, I just add a few degrees to the high as we live a few miles inland from downtown.
The only explanation for this new weirdness that I can think of is that 4.1 is somehow using location awareness to give more accurate temps (hah what would be the chance of that?).
If that is the case then I'd like to be given the option to choose which zip to use.
OTOH maybe its just an interesting bug....
I tried deleting and re-adding San Diego, CA but same result, also tried switching off location services, no difference.
Oh well I'll wait for 4.1.02 <wide-grin>
So if you know how to fix these things other than me writing my own RSS reader and mentally subtracting temps to correct, let me know!

several days later.... today the weather app is still broken:
weather.com says right now 80F for san diego, ca but on the weather app on the
touch it says 91F that's quite the discrepancy.
I note that there have been numerous similar problems for folks after updates over the last several years...guess the wethaer app must have a continuuing glitch built into the software. Tried reloading it from 92093 and same result so it isn't a location issue.
Can't believe I'm the only one with this issue given how many hits I get for similar issues on previous upgrades.
Right now it is still soooo broken. Thanks for all the attention Apple, so nice to know y'all care. Love the "let's beta test on the live system" upgrade MO. If anyone should have a test suite for everything it should be Apple. Forget support looks like android is the place to go. see ya.
