You should probably just download the trial version of pse 12 and see if you can live with it.
Download a free trial or buy Adobe products | Adobe downloads
That being said, have you tried to install pse 1 on your computer?
How much free space is on your hard drive?
Do you have Internet Explorer 10 or 11?
Pse 1 can run on windows 7 x64, provided certain conditions are met.

  • Clamshell Won't run on my new battery

I finally bought a new battery for my Clamshell; charged it up and the computer won't run on the new battery. When I try to start up with the power cord unplugged the machine won't start up (nothing). When I start it up on the plug and unplug it after it's running it goes dead. It looks like the meter shows full. I charged it for 10 plus hours just like the instructions suggested. The machine has never had a working battery so I might be overlooking something really obvious. I looked around in the control panels and don't see anywhere I could manually switch to the battery.
It's a new battery not a used one, so I doubt there is anything wrong with that. I'm stumped.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Try resetting the Power Management Unit.
    2. If that doesn't work next carefully check the cleanliness of the pins in the battery housing.
    3. If none of that works I'd be seeking advice from the retailer who sold you a new product that doesn't work.

  • Moved an old software (16 bit) program to XP, won't run.

We were running a spectrophotometer on a Windows 3.1 machine via a GPIB-PCII/IIA card, but when the computer died we couldn't find another one with the older card slot so we used ae trying the GPIB-USB-B on an WinXP computer. The GPIB Explorer can communicate with the instrument but the software program doesn't see the instrument. In the original help file for the spectrophotometer's software it says to go to system.ini and add the line device=c:\gpib-pcw\vdmad.386.
Since we no longer have this file we looked at the Windows\System32 folder and found several gpib*.dll files. We have tried  gpib.dll, gpib-vdd.dll and gpib-32.dl, in place of vdmad.386 (we have corrected the path name too) so far but none of them have worked. We also ran the updatdos.exe successfully but seen no effect. We do have a Win 98 machine which has a USB port but we need a driver to run it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Originally we had a Windows 3.1 desktop hooked up to a Hitachi F-4500 Spectrophotometer via  a GPIB-PCII/IIA ISA card. It had the installed software on it. The computer had been laboring for a while so we copied the entire System and Hitachi folders onto floppies. We were attempting to use a Windows XP machine computer with the GPIB-USB-B interface, but we were told a couple days ago that Windows XP doesn't support 16-bit programs anymore. So we found an older tower with an ISA slot and installed Windows 98. We got the ni driver ver. 1.7 and installed it. At this point when we go into Measurements and Automation we can communicate with the board. If we send an IDN? query it returns a binary address for the board.
Now we are trying to get the software to see the device. According to the readme file we need to make changes to autoexec.bat, win.ini and system.ini. The first two files were straightforward but in system.ini the modification calls for adding the device vdmad.386, since this is an older out of date file, we looked at the installed files by National Instruments and chose to install the gpibplug.vxd device instead. This worked better than some of the other choices like gpibnat.vxd or gpidnoif.vxd. However the software still comes up with two errors. When first attempting to bring up the program we receive the error "Unable to find GPIB device" after clicking on ok and attempting any of the functions (like Timescan) we get the error "Invalid GPIB setting (board or software)" and then the program closes.
I've recently attempted to make changes to the Registry due to this post http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=204735&query.id=219557#M204735
but that had no affect. We have the Windows XP machine and GPIB-USB-B interface still around. It does communicate with the instrument but we've had no luck with running the software.

  • IMovie won't run on brand new Mac Mini (Quartz Extreme message)

I just bought a new Mac Mini. The latest 2010 Mac Mini.
    I have a Samsung 23" LCD monitor.
I tried to open iMovie, and got the following message:
iMovie requires a graphics card that is compatible with Quartz Extreme. One or more of your graphics cards does not support Quartz Extreme.
I'm new to the Mac world. Shouldn't Mac software run on Mac hardware?
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hello All,
I'm actually on my second Mac mini in a month (I returned the first one) with the same problem. I didn't have Perian installed, and certainly not Windows Media. I also have the problem that when I turn the computer on, it freezes on the Apple logo and the spinning gear stops turning. I have to shut down, then when I turn computer back on, it goes directly to the log in window. It will work fine from there. And most times, iMovie will start no problem. I hope that I don't have to return this one as well, but I might have to.

    HELP!!!!

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • Photoshop 5.1 won't run on brand new Mac with Yosemite

Help please! I am a photography teacher and I just purchased 8 brand new MacBook pros for my classroom. I asked my IT guy to install Photoshop 5.1 on all of them. On 3 of the 8, it is not working. I get a window that says "For the Photoshop UI to display correctly, open System Preferences, click Appearance, and turn off text smoothing for font sizes 8 and smaller" (included screen shot). We are running Yosemite and this option does not even exist in System Preferences. It's only an option on older Macs. We can't even use Photoshop because when I click OK, photoshop closes completely. My IT guy is NO help... Any suggestions?????

  • Aperture won't run on my new 2.0GHz MacBook Pro

I'd been using Aperture on a Powerbook G4 1.25GHz with 1Gb RAM. It did some things slowly, but otherwise it worked very well.
Imagine my surprise when I loaded it onto my new MacBook Pro 2.0GHz with 1Gb RAM, and tried to open it and got a message that this computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements to run Aperture!
Do I need to do something special when installing it?
Other apps that run under Rosetta, like Illustrator CS2, start up pretty slowly on the MBP, but at least they run.
    Thanks for any help.

Out of interest - how do intend to cope with storage with this type of machine? There are currently no new card slot SATA or Firewire 800 adapters available and given that backup operations are going to be slow (minimum impact) or in the event of big library you will be hampered by the lack of fast external disk support (far more serious) to actually use your library!
I have found running different libraries on portable and desktop far too complicated and I wonder apart from the hardware considerations how people handle this situation.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud crashes immediately on launch, won't run on a new iMac 5K / Yosemite.

Adobe Creative Cloud installer (/Applications/Utilities/Adobe Creative Cloud/ACC/Creative Cloud.app) crashes immediately on launch, so I can't install CC on a new iMac 5K running Yosemite. Launching the app to fetch the rest of the CC programs crashes, saying "Creative Cloud quit unexpectedly."
I have an old CS3 Photoshop install, a newish Lightroom install, and now I need to install Premiere from my work Adobe ID. I think this may be the crux of the problem. If the CC Cleaner app worked as advertised, I could wipe the old Photoshop install and just use the new CC Photoshop and everything would be cool, but the CC Cleaner doesn't work. It looks like it works, but the problem persists. In fact, Adobe support told me via twitter that Adobe's installer basically doesn't work on migrated Macs (new Macs where old data has been set up from backups). They called it an OS conflict, but I pointed out that everything else works, so it's pretty much Adobe's conflict.
It seems like a permissions issue, and Adobe thinks it's a permissions issue blocking the ACC applet, yet I've repaired HD permissions and did Disk Repair, run Adobe's CC Cleaner multiple times, attempted to install CC in another admin account on the machine, attempted to install CC from Root, and repeated all this after reinstalling OS X via rebooting with Cmd+R, always end with the same result: Creative Cloud quit unexpectedly.
They also suggested I install on a clean disk, one that hasn't been migrated. To do that, I supposed I have to bring it back to Apple, since I have neither a Yosemite install disc, nor a drive to put one in.
I found an article called "CC applications close immediately after launch" but this tip doesn't work because Creative Cloud applet is the app I can't launch.
    https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/cc-applications-crash-immediately-launch.html
They sound like they're trying to help, but the responses sound like utter BS, and, like the support website, i'm going around in circles. I'm sure I'm not the only person who's had this problem, right? RIGHT?? I'm sure the answer is buried here someplace...
    Thanks in advance!

There doesn't seem to be an uninstaller for CS3, and I've tried the CC Cleaner tool several times. It doesn't work and it is not correctly documented anywhere. For example, there is no log file at "/Users/[user name]/Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.log" as one of the Adobe pages states. For example, there is no log file at "/Users/[user name]/Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.log" so I can't find any success or error states of the tool.
There is a log file at "/Users/[me]/Library/Logs/ACC.log." Would there be anything in there that could shine light on install issues vs. uninstall issues?
Regardless, running Cleaner and then attempting to install ACC repeatedly leads to the error "Creative Cloud quit unexpectedly" upon launching it or rebooting (which launches it automatically). I've been trying various things for weeks to no avail yet.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 won't run with the new Yosemite OS. How can I fix this?

Ever since we updated to Yosemite OS we've had so many problems with our programs. I can't even open Photoshop Elements 10. Is there any way to fix this?

First of all, don't try to sign in. Photoshop.com is dead and gone and PSE will hang forever looking for the non-existent servers. Just start the editor or organizer directly from the application file and use that. The editor is this one, not the one at the top level of the PSE 10 folder in applications:
Also, it's very important to delete existing preferences on upgrading OS X:

  • Os x won't run after installing new HD

The power supply in my old iMac G3 failed, so I took out the hard drive which had os x 10.3 on it. Put it into another G3 imac that had been running os 9.2.2. [I did not reinstall os x because don't want to lose what is on the HD.] When I switch the computer on, the Apple comes up on the screen like it is about to start up, then the computer shuts down. HD is an 80 GB Seagate. Jumpers are set to Master and Slave. Please advise.

Grape G3, welcome to Apple Discussions.
First you need to check if your 9.2 iMac requires a firmware (Boot ROM version in System Profiler) update. Mac OS X: Available firmware updates
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86117 If an update is required, the update must be installed (using OS 9) BEFORE you install/run OS X.
Jumpers are set to Master and Slave.
Since the iMac only has one hard drive, the jumper needs to be set to Master. Slave is used when you install a second hard drive.
Are both iMacs the same model? Usually the system files for one Mac are unique to that model & may not work in another model.

Sometimes USB external drive problems are resolved simply by plugging them into the mains power and trying again.

  • SB Live! 24-Bit External Software doesn't work!

    Hi all.
So I bought myself an SB Li've! 24-Bit External soundcard because I'm constantly switching between my desktop and laptop PC's. I need a 5. capable soundcard for my desktop anyway, so I this is what I went with.
Anyway, the sound works fine in 2. for both the laptop and the desktop; however, none of the software, such as EAX, diagnostic tool, surround mixer, or speaker settings works! So, even though I bought this thing for 5., it's not deli'vering!
What can I do to make the software work, and allow me to enable the 5. feature? All of my physical conections are good.
