SB Live 24bit reverts to 2 speaker m

Every time my computer is rebooted my SB Li've (Previous 5. and now 24bit) return to 2. speaker configuration. This is despite the fact that I have selected 5. or 4. in speaker selection. How do I get it to stick to 5. or 4. on reboot?
Running Win2000 Pro on SP4
On board Audio has been disable in Bios.
Thanks
Andrew

It seems after doing a search on this forum that this has been a problem for a while. It would be nice of Crati've to get this addressed.
It was not a problem in the older Mixer/Effects consoles so I am assuming this is a software related problem.
Anyone have any answers?
Thanks,
Andrew

Why my device control on my K8N Diamond plus did not have the decoder tab?
Maybe that's why I can't get 5.1 sound from my digital speaker...

Looks like you don't have the right software drivers installed.   Instead of the nVIDIA Audio drivers, you should be installing the Creative Labs drivers from the enclosed driver CD-ROM, the separate one from the MSI disk.   Next go to Creatives site and run all the updates from their Auto-update service.
You should be able to select the tab shown above as I also see it.   Each selection also works for me so I can say that the Dolby decoding does work.

• Using Live 24Bit With Vis

Hello there,I have SoundBlaster Li've! 24Bit with Inspire T7900 7. Speaker System. I upgraded to Windows Vista 32Bit, used the latest Creative Driver (Feb 2007)?and now I have sound and speakers test is working....but not in music playback and stuff... I was confused reading all the threads here, I know everybody has this problem... but is there a BETA driver or a way to make my 7. works again?cause reading the threads about the previous drivers confused me more!?thanx for help!

I was the same way. Of course my setup is not 7. but 5.also my speakers are not using a digital connection...and when i went into media centre i had zero sound and same with music playback till i went into the control panel/sound window and selected digital connection...which again i am not using but this seemed to fix everything sound wise... maybe they got it backwards..who knows. but i'm trying to find out if you can get the cmss or eax stuff back. this having no treble or bass or equalizer or anyhting but plain ole sound..well.. sucks. I mean I might as well be using my onboard motherboard sound..

• SB Live 24Bit External: Reproducible System Freeze after installing Windows Upda

I have a SB Li've! 24Bit External and am quite content with it. However, my Windows Update has recently installed the following updates:
- Cumulati've Security Update for IE, KB9282
- Cumulati've Security update for OE, KB9567
- Tool for Spyware Removal, KB890830
- Security Update for Windows XP, KB90853
- Security Update for Windows XP, KB9562
I suspect one of the last two ones to be at fault. Afterwards, my computer froze completely on the Windows startup screen whenever the SB came up. I could verify that it was the SB by removing the USB cable (which solved the issue) and plugging in again later to the running system (which brough the freeze again).
A was able to get a running system again by using the System Recovery, but I'd *really* like to install those updates (. to be a little more safe and 2. because the Windows Update nagging me about those updates is really annoying).

This has got to be the craziest IRQ table that I have ever seen. Windows will not let me change any of the settings. It doesn't seem kocher, and I am pretty knowlegible from other systems I have set up, but not this one. I have been keeping a few charts to see if anything changes, and these have changed since this morning, though nothing else has been installed. I know they shouldn't share as they do, but it won't let me have control over these. Am I am doing something drastically wrong. On USB is Epson 760, Logi cordless opticle mouse, and MS Internet KB with combo PS2 / USB 2 port hub. I have the mouse plugged into KB. HERE GOES:

• Soundblaster Live 24bit Prob

Hi i've been having problems with my new Sb li've 24bit card, having problems in some games that i can't seem to remedy was hoping i could get some help or ideas to try.
Heres the problems i have, when playing 2 of my favorite games Il2 Forgotten battles, and World War II Online I experience crackling , some sounds are to faint and some are to loud.. sounds are more loud if i look up appose to looking forward or to the side at objects making the noise.. Some sounds are missing altogether.
I think both these games use Directx for there sounds. Must be a problem with directx.. I've tried everything to fix the problem and nothing makes a diffrence. I've reinstall the drivers 4 times, tried playing with all the settings for the soundcard like speaker settings, equalizer, EaX, bass booster, lowering hardware acceleration for sound in directx, tried diffrent settings in the games setup and nothing seems to help.
I alos have windows Xp Pro fully updated and directx 9.0c, and all other drivers are updated including my motherboard drivers. it seems like to me.. that maybe its not positioning the sounds threw my headphones correctly.. even thou i have headphones selected in speaker settings sounds like its working in surround sound threw my headphones and missing some of it.. i donno.. But anyways thx for any help in advanced.

Yes i updated the drivers for my graphics card as well, i have tried 2 diffrent video card drivers . I've updated every driver for my system and tried some older drivers for my motherboard to. I've tried everything in that knowledgebase article as well over the last couple days and nothing seems to make a diffrence. I don' have another system to try the card in at the moment but today i put my old SB li've Value card back in and tested these games and the sound was perfect.. maybe this card just dosen't work well with certian sound technologys? or maybe its just defecti've i donno.. Is there anything else i can try?
Thx for the reply

• Live 24bit external CMSS - Vi

I installed? the new drivers for my li've 24bit external sound card but can't find a way to hear 5. sound in wmp. All i hear is 2. sound. I'm wondering if CMSS is working as it should. Can anyone help? Maybe my settings are wrong... Thanks!

not sure if I get this right. are you saying there is no 5. sound for me on Vista with this? confused. I messed around with every setting, but as stated by Mathjkt I can only hear 2 speakers. when I run the creative speaker config, it correctly assigns the corresponding direction to each speaker, all 5. but none of my players work in 5. (wmp, winamp, mediamonkey). this is probably just a little oversight on my part I hope. thanksnever mind, just read the main driver post

• USB live 24bit popping & quits he

I installed the USB SB li've 24-bit External on my son?s m-45-s69 Toshiba laptop. We have it hooked up to Logitech x-530 5. speaker system. We are having a problem with the sound card making a popping noise and them shortly later the music just quits, and the power light on the sound card goes off. Now if we re-click on a different song then it will start playing again but with popping coming from the speakers, and some times it shuts off again.
I read through some of the other posts about popping noise but none really helped me.
The only up-grade we have done to the computer is more memory, we now have Gig, it came with 52M.
Can someone point me into the right direction on what to check? I?m sure it'ss some kind of configuration, or conflict problem. His computer shows no conflicts in the device properties menu.
Thanks
Dave

Your friend is running arch and you say it works fine, you are running ubuntu and it doesn't work, looks a lot like it is a problem with ubuntu.
These forums are meant to provide support for arch only, this is not a general linux support forum, that is a rule. Also most users here have no experience with ubuntu so they can't help. I suspect this thread might get closed as soon as a moderator spots it, just like it happened in the past to other threads asking for support regarding other distributions.

• SB Live 24bit internal Line

Everytime I connect my TV to the Li've! 24-bit card Line-in I get a low rumble, like an electical one. Its only detectable when the volume of the speaker is moderate high+, But this doesn't happen when I connect it to my Hi-Fi.

Hey there jgcable if you are still checking out this thread I found the answer to the line input problem. At least for me and hopefully for you too. The answer I think was there all the time but with Vista moving things around I didn't find it until now and feel really stupid about it. If you have your level control down in the icon tray right click on it and choose playback devices. On 'Speakers' right click and choose properties.... Then go to the 'levels' tab and in there is the playback input slider for the line input. I knew that had to be in there somewhere and feel really silly for not finding it til now. With the older CL mixers it was all right there up front and easy to get to. If you don't have the icon in your tray just go to your control panel and then 'Hardware and Sound' and then 'Sound' again you will get to the same place for going to the properties for the speakers. I hope this helps you out,Wayne?

• Sound Blaster Live 24bit External - No B

I am hoping that someone can help me here. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate and have my PC setup purely as a Media Center machine. It has an onboard Intel 5. Sound Card that was producing average sound, but works 00%?I have since installed my Li've 24bit External, I first ran the CD and then realised that it was not Vista software so I downloaded the updated drivers and software. First I removed the old software and then installed the newer version. Now everything seems to work and when I test all the speakers via the?drivers / control panel?they all work - including the sub. When playing anything via Media Center or Media player, I get no bass what so ever. - I have even tried 5. DTS DVDs?I have subsequently plugged the speakers back into the onboard card and the sub works. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Yes, it will work. It'll wind up setting your USB ports to 6 bit by default, because it's going to be taking alot out of them, but it'll give you some beefy surround sound none the less. On the down side of this external card though, it's giving me a ton of **bleep** about ventrilo and fra

• Genius SW-HF5.1... on Live 24bit and Audigy

Hi all,
I've tested this set of speakers on those two sound cards ans when I try listening to music or a DVD I still have no sound from both sub and middle speakers. I'd like to have some help please. I tried the same set on my onboard sound card and it works well (an Asus A8N-E Deluxe). I'd prefer my Audigy but it does not work even in BF1942. Tried to update drivers with no result.
Thx anyways guys.

Yes I noticed that, but couldn't find any Audigy LS card.
Is it a discontinued model?
I found it priced about the same as Audigy 2 Value
(Audigy LS + Hitman 2 = ~66? vs Audigy 2 Value ~40?)
So why get LS?
For the game shake?

• Vista rc1 and live 24bit,

Can someone tell me if its possible to get this card working on vista rc on 64x. I have been trying for 2 days and cant submit my review till i sort this out. i really dont want to have to download the 32bit version. i have found vista stable so far but i need this driver badly.

Short answer, no. Long answer, yes.
Don't use the Vista x64 drivers. Install the XP Pro x64 drivers.
IF the installer doesn't work (it crashes for me) do the following.
Download and install a Zip program such as 7z (it's free).
Use 7z or whatever to extract all the compress files from the XP x64 download to some folder on your desktop.
Open Device Manager, right click on the media device (I foget the term Vista uses exactly) and click Update Driver Software.
Choose browse my computer and click on the browse button and point to the extracted folder. Make sure you check "Include Subfolders"
Click next and that should do it. Restart. No need for F8.
Sounds are good. I don't have any fancy speaker setup, just standard setero.
I'm sure there are other ways to get it to work, but that's how I did it.Message Edited by Thrawn05 on 09-08-2006 06:43 PM
