SB Live! 5.1 Digital (Dell) Supp

My card SB Li've! 5. Digital (Dell)... I hope this helps someone... A week ago?I installed Vista, and?Vista automatically downloaded and installed the proper driver for my sound card and it worked flawlessly for?one week. ?I was like awesome!? I needed to reinstall Vistatwo days ago for unrelated issues, and this time a compatible driver could not be found. I looked manually and tried everything (Dell, Creative, Microsoft, 3rd party, & other drivers)?and nothing. I was like what?!? This begs the question I have for Creative -- how could a compatible driver be available a week ago and now, there is nothing? Whatever driver Vista did download a week ago worked very well. So this is what I did and it works -- I downloaded this XP driver - (Dell) Driver Install Pack 2 - (26 Nov 03) and ran the install program in XP Compatibility Mode. It worked. If you click to install without selecting?compatibility mode, the install program will not recognize your sound card. This configuration seems to work for me, but I have not tried it much yet. I still need to do some tests. No blue screens on boot up though!? One last thought -- I really like my Creative Sound Card but I will never purchase their product or a computer with their product inside of it. Microsoft makes a good product and Creative should provide support for their sound cards. If this helps even one person I will be happy... Let me know...

Where did you find the (Dell) Driver Install Pack 2 - (26 Nov 03)... I looked on dell's website and could not find it.

• 5.1 speaker hook up with Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Digital (Del

?????????????Hi Everyone,?I have a Dell computer, about?4 yrs. Old, that came with Sound Blaster Li've! 5. Digital (Dell) audio card pre-installed. I purchased a set of front speakers & sub woofer from Dell that all connect thro one speaker cord which is inserted in the ?"line out jack " on the Sound Blaster Li've! 5. Digital (Dell) card. Now I'm thinking about hooking up?a surround sound speaker system, or to my AV receiver. I also have a?"rear out jack" and a "analog/digital out jack" that I have never used. But I need some documentation on how to do this.Feed back will be appreciated.

I have a digital as well but it is virtually useless I have tried everything nothing on this site nothing works. As well. I have a 5. li've and every driver?Idownload corrupts within 2 weeks, speakers start to crackel yadayada. Is there any support at all from this site for the product that you put out? I notice the driver dates on the downloads page is way outta date by like 4 yrs, lol. I would like a lil help on these cards before i snap them in half an buy another maker which I would hate to do as I have always bought soundblaster and for all my customers as well. A nice updated drivers page would greatly be appreciated

• Need SoundBlaster Live! Digital (Dell) Driv

I am having a very difficult time with SoundBlaster Li've! Digitial (Dell) drivers. I have a soundblaster li've model SB0203 installed on my dell dimension 4550 running windows 2000. I was originally running winxp, but when I installed win2000, dell does not have drivers for it.
I downloaded the appropriate Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe from creative, but when I run it, it goes through the extraction process and then I get the following error:
Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audio card on your system.
Please ensure that your Sound Blaster hardware is properly installed before running this Setup program.
Setup will now exit.
Please help. MC

you need the dell drivers...i think they offer them on this site, but they prolly won't work, like a lot of software on here...if dell has drivers on their site for you card that work on xp, then d/l them and install them on 2000...that is what i meant originally, or if you have the original drivers on a cd that would be better...

• SB Live! 5.1 Dell and Windows Vista Driv

Since the Sound Blaster Li've! 5. (digital) card included with Dell computers a few years ago are no longer supported by Creative, and since I now have Windows Vista 32-bit Ultimate edition, is there any way to get Creative drivers for it, or will I simply have to purchase the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro card that I planned to buy for a new custom-built high-performance computer?Simply put: Are there any Creative-made drivers for Vista for the SB Li've! 5. cards?

Try using the kX drivers. Admittingly, I also use kX on my XP MCE2005 box because the Creative drivers hang during install on MCE2005. I've also tested it under Vista 32 and it appears to work (didn't stick to Vista 32 because it was problematic and lacked certain features i.e. What-U-Hear for me). Good luck!

• Syncing Ipad mail to Windows Live Mail on a Dell Laptop

I am trying to sync my boss's email through his multiple devices for him. He has an Ipad, an Iphone and a Dell Laptop. He has set up the email account (which is an imap account) on all the devices and it works from all of them. However, if he sends an email in one, it does not appear in the sent folder on a different device. How do I get the mail to sync so that every sent/received mail is visible from all the devices?
Also on a different matter, he also has an old pop3 account. Is it possible to change it to an IMAP account without losing the email address? Would I have to delete it and start again?
Thanks

Hi,
Actually I don't have any problems with mails and calendars as both of them work back and forth with Windows Live Mail and IPad.
The problem is only with contacts.  Once a new contact is created in my IPad it does not go in my Windows Live contact box.
Thanks

OK Status update:
I posted this question on the Dutch forum as well. I am happy to tell you all that in the Dutch forum Dragonfly is one of the moderators. He knows his MSI stuff
He gave me the solution to my problem. So just in case anyone else has a similar problem and can't read Dutch, here it is
He advised me to start the Media Live up with no monitor or TV attached to it at all. Then start up with either a monitor or a TV attached to it. Lo and behold.... the problem is solved.
All credits for this solution go to Dragonfly

• My Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Digital won't work with Vista

First off, I wasn't sure whether to put this in the vista or Sound Blaster form so sorry if this is the wrong place.
Anyways. I got a new computer two days ago and just installed my old Sound Blaster li've 5. Digital (model SB0220) card into the new desktop. Vista, the operating system I'm using now tried to find the drivers but failed. Then I tried looking them up on the creative site with the drop down lists but it didn't pull up anything either.
I plan on buying an m-audio 2496 sound card soon but for now I would like to get back to recording and the Sound Blaster card is much better than the stock motherboard audio setup.
If anyone knows of any drivers for this card it would be extremely helpful.
ThanksMessage Edited by 85Dave on 07-0-200707:22 AM

hmm...thanks.
Well its not that bad really. sound blaster cards are not made for recording audio and so I was going to get the m-audio 2496 card anyways.
I'm just waiting for drivers on that which are supposed to come some time in the 2nd half of 2007.
Thanks for the info.

• Audigy 2 NX digital multichannel supp

Hi,I'm?trying to set up my home theater,And I want to know, if my Audigy 2 NX supports digital output with multichannel support,From what I tried to find out I just got more confused...So my question is simple:Optical or coax... and with?shutting down the internal SB decoder, will I get a raw?multichannel?dolby signal from the digital jacks to send the amp to decode?Or is it totally impossible? Many thanks??

Even this is a very old post, I have a very similar setup so I thought I'd comment.
I have the Marantz 4600, also brand new.
I'm also using digital Coax.
I can pass through basically anything I throw at it no problems.
The Marantz does an Awesome job of rendering the audio, BTW.
PS. My marantz disables all the fancy surround processing as soon as I go 96Khz or higher, does yours?
Anyway, it Works with both PowerDVD (5 and 6) and WinDVD, in these applications I need to set them to SPDIF out. I also set the card to digital only mode - don't know if this is important.
You might want to try dvd genie to unlock a few extra features of your DVD player software.
Remember that the DVD you play needs to be DTS or prologic or some other format supported by the Marantz, and also playing the main feature. Many DVD's use stereo PCM in the menu (even if you select DTS/DD5.), and don't switch until the actual movie starts.
Also. you NEED USB 2.0 for it to work, verify your OS and drivers, etc. USB. does not have the bandwidth. If your NX is a bit older you might need to grab the latest driver from creative and/or flash the NX's firmware to get it to support USB 2.0.

• SB Live 5.1 for Dell Vista driver questi

I've been reading this board and though many Sound Blaster issues are covered on it I don't think the specific issues I am having were discussed. Pardon me if they were. I have a Dell Dimension 4600 with the SB Li've 5. card for Dell. After updating my computer with a clean install of Vista Home Premium Vista did not recognize my card as a Soundblaster but as a "mulitmedia device". For a day or so I had no sound until suddenly Windows Update provided a driver for the Soundblaster 5., installed it and I had sound again. OK, not as good as before (no mixers, etc) but stereo sound and both my speakers and my subwoofer were functioning properly. Then, for reasons I won't get into here, I had to completely reinstall Vista again, once again a clean install. This time, after several days of no sound, Windows update did not provide any drivers. So I installed the original drivers provided by Dell and it installed the SB card and it worked, at least until I started getting BSODs and I was forced to uninstall it. Once again back to a "multimedia device" in Device Manager I tried every which way of getting MS to install its driver again with no luck. So this afternoon I installed drivers for xp and an update patch, both downloaded here from Creative and once again the SB works, though I have disabled it to avoid more blue screens. My questions:? Can I remove the drivers without removing the Sound Blaster card as a device in Device Manager so that Vista's Windows Update?will see it as a Sound Blaster card without a driver and provide the drivers as it did during the first installation? After I installed the Creative drivers I tried, though Device Manager, updating the drivers by having Windows Update search for them and the response I got from Windows Update was that I "have the latest drivers", clearly wrong. OK, Creative is not supporting the SB Li've 5. in Vista and I cannot use the Kx drivers because they do not support the Dell OEM Sound Blaster. Fooling Windows update seems to be the only way I can get around buying a new sound card at this point. Anyone have any suggestions?

Kx help files say the Sound Blaster OEM for Dell is not supported and I already tried it. I think I may have stumbled on something because the card now seems to be operating properly and though Device Manager lists the Creative driver for the card if you look inside at the Drii'ver Details, among the Creative files listed are two files by Microsoft, dmk.sys and portcls.sys that are clearly marked "vista_rtm", so somehow I may have gotten a mix of Creative and MS drivers since I have the very limited "mixer" that comes with the Vista SB driver. I am no techie, not by a long shot, but as long as the card works and I get no blue screens and no reports back from Security Manager complaining about a conflict I am going to leave everything just as it is. I don't play games and just need a sound card that works. It actually sounds pretty good now. I wish there was a mixer and bass/treble control but I can li've without it, especially since drivers really aren't finished for Vista. Thanks for your suggestions.

• PS2 - Live! DE + Digital I/O 2 + Computer = decode Dolby Pro Logic II?

Greetings,
I am a joiner of this forum but a long time user of Creative Sound Cards
since Creative Sound Blaser 2.0
I have a CT4760 + CT4770 and... a PS2.
I wonder if I can use a computer to decode Dolby Pro Logic II
from the signal of PS2 game via optical out to
Digital I/O 2 Optical In to computer to decode Pro Logic II
and output to some Creative 5.1 Speaker for example, DTT2500
or even Inspire 5700 (which doesn't decode Pro Logic II but DTS )
Any clue or solution from any experience user except buying DDTS-100
or some home theater solution with Optical In and Optical Input?

When the pro logic option is selected in the audio options, you should hear sound from the centre and rear speakers when playing just stereo sounds like music. I think Pro Logic is usually a hardware thing, but perhaps it can be implemented in software too. I think Creative should replace the CMSS button with a Pro Logic II button, as they do a similar thing. Although this would probably make the soundcards more expensi've due to the extra cost of including the Pro Logic II chips.
Actually, I have just read the post "<SPAN class=navbartext><SPAN><SPAN class=navbartext><SPAN>How to enable sound for my center, rear and sides speakers?", it says CMSS works well with pro logic material, so you could try that with your games. Also, the Audigy 4 is compatible with DTS Neo: 6, which is DTS's answer to Dolby Pro Logic II. Having never used Neo: 6, I don't know how it would sound with Dolby PL2 games, or whether it would work at all, but it might be worth having a go .<SPAN>

• Help on SB Live 5.1 & Digital I/O Mod

Hi
I've recently reinstalled my WinXP Pro Svc Pack 2 and is facing this problem with my SB Li've 5. and the Internal Digital I/O Module.
The Volume Control is detecting the Digital I/O module and have eg. Volume Control for the SPDIF In, when I'm using the WinXP Built-In SB Li've Series (WDM) Driver. But using this driver Creative Software like AudioHQ and Creative Mixer will not work. Creative Diagnostics fail and requie me to reinstall the drivers.
Installing the latest SB Li've Driver (Li'veDrvUni-Pack downloaded from Creative), AudioHQ and Creative Mixer does works, but the softwares are not detecting the Internal Digital I/O Module. The Volume Control column in does not reflects the SPDIF In (not hidden as well). AudioHQ also no longer reflects the Icon for the SPDIF Input.
Will be very greatful if someone can advise for a possible solution.
Regards,
Knite00

Your card is perhaps some of those OEM models (SB022-SB0229).
Maybe trick helps you to install the update.
By following instructions from http://www.tech-pc.co.uk/audigy-2.php you (perhaps) be able to use the latest Audigy n drivers w/ your card (and install Audigy software too, link for CD can be found from ). In generally, patching is quite painless to do, if you just use "Automatic method" and follow the instructions carefully.

• Help with sb0200 soundblaster live 5.1 digital.. only playing 2.1

At the risk of being redundant, I can not download a ligitamate driver for my SB0200 sound blaster li've 5. digital card... nowhere on this site.. I can not find my orginal disc, so I can not get the correct drivers... I also can not test my 5. speakers because I don't have the application that would come with thte driver disc... I am currently only playing out of 2.... no rear no center... is there any help for me ?

Did you remove your original soundcard and disable the drivers? If you don't do these things you can (and probably will) get conflict problems when you install the new soundcard, as most motherboards do not like more than one sound device attached to them.
In my case (a Compaq Presario PC) the advice from Compaq is to to delete the drivers, not just disable them. If you?delete,?make sure you can get hold of a fresh set of drivers for the original soundcard should you ever need to re-install it.Message Edited by monitor on 04-29-200705:0 PM

The front panel connections you want to use are adapted to be connected to a motherboard with audio included, NOT to a PCI audio card. You'll have to connect the front panel wires to your motherboard's audio connnector.
