• My Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Digital won't work with Vista

First off, I wasn't sure whether to put this in the vista or Sound Blaster form so sorry if this is the wrong place.
Anyways. I got a new computer two days ago and just installed my old Sound Blaster li've 5. Digital (model SB0220) card into the new desktop. Vista, the operating system I'm using now tried to find the drivers but failed. Then I tried looking them up on the creative site with the drop down lists but it didn't pull up anything either.
I plan on buying an m-audio 2496 sound card soon but for now I would like to get back to recording and the Sound Blaster card is much better than the stock motherboard audio setup.
If anyone knows of any drivers for this card it would be extremely helpful.
ThanksMessage Edited by 85Dave on 07-0-200707:22 AM

hmm...thanks.
Well its not that bad really. sound blaster cards are not made for recording audio and so I was going to get the m-audio 2496 card anyways.
I'm just waiting for drivers on that which are supposed to come some time in the 2nd half of 2007.
Thanks for the info.

• Windows 7 - 64 Bit Driver Needed For Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Model SB0100

I am having trouble finding a working driver for Windows 7 - 64 Bit for a Sound Blaster Li've! 5. Audo Card Model# SB000
I downloaded driver file SBL_PC64DRVBETA_LB_2_03_0005.exe which I think is a 64 Bit Sound Blaster Li've! update, but Windows 7 does not allow it to be installed because it is not a digitally signed driver. It also seems Creative is no longer supporting these old cards with new driver updates.
I love the card though. I have bought more recent sound cards and the sound of this card is still much better than the more recent sound cards I have bought. So I would like to keep using it if possible.
Are there any driver solutions?

I recently answered about the same question:
If you?use Vista or Windows7, then there is no official driver. You can only use alternati've drivers like Vista Support Pack by Daniel_K or the one from KXProject (better). But if you have more than 2 gigs of memory installed or an x64 OS, then both drivers will be half-working (as far as I remember, Daniel's driver won't work with more than 2 Gb of memory installed in any OS, and with KX-driver there will only be a problem with MIDI playback with more than 2 Gb AND x64 Win7).

My iMac (late 2010 model) desktop's hard drive is fried (was about 200GB). How much am I expecting to pay for a new one and retrieve my information?

As you can see Erin, trying to recover information from a hosed drive can be very expensive.
I would suggest first the OWC site as well. You can get a new drive of choice in size there.
I would also get the voyager  http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/VOYQHDB1.0T/
and..
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Prosoft%20Engineering/DGDR3BUN/
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/TOOLKIT11/
Wth your lap top and these folllowing tools your are set to change out the drive, reload OS and then with
the voyager pop in the old iMac drive and with the Prosoft software, try to mount and recover the files. Data Rescue is very good at this " if " the drive is not totally mechanically hosed. Drive Genius is very good at a number of things too. Nothing replaces the old adage of Back Up Back up Back up.
The voyage I listed can become the new backup drive for you.. your choice of tools: Time Machine or by cloning via CarbonCopyCloner or by what I use SuperDuper! IF you want to be really kewl.. both. By that I mean cloning and Time Machine.
It will take you an hour to swap out the drive and spring clean the iMac.. there is a hundred how too,s on you tube.
Hope this helps. Remember if is always when a drive will fail..they all do. I tell the people I support that Harddrives are good for 15 min.. to when they don't work. They will all fail.
Apple Geniuses are very limited to what they can and will do as far as file recovery.
Your best bet is to try to do it your self first. There is lots of help out here and you are not the first.

• Will a Western Digital 250GB 2.5" Hard Drive fit into my 12" PB

Hi all,
Done some searching on the forum but i can't find the correct info. So here goes my current 60gb HD is full so i need a much bigger one.
I have found one on a UK web site a Western Digital 250GB 2.5" Hard Drive IDE 5400rpm 8MB Cache for a good price http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132386/showproductspecifications
,this seems to be the biggest i can find. Will it fit and work correctly?? It is 7 cm x 10 cm x 9.5 mm
On this forum i can only find details of a 160GB seagate being fitted (this one i assume Seagate ST9160821A 160GB 2.5" Hard Drive IDE 5400RPM 8MB Cache ??)
Have i got the IDE bit right or do i need a SATA, both listed as mac compatible but which one?
Thanks for your help
Phil

Have you considered an external hard drive, so you can back up your current system plus use it for additional storage? If it needs to be portable, you can get any size 2.5" drive and put it in a firewire case, for example http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/on-the-go (it's a US store, but you get the idea). You would need either a firewire or combined firewire/USB case, as our Powerbooks can only boot from a firewire device.

Yes, it will fit. There has been some question recently whether the Powerbook bios (that's a Windows term, so the Apple equivalent) will support a drive that large. While it shouldn't be a problem, I'd want to confirm that someone else has one installed.
Have i got the IDE bit right or do i need a SATA, both listed as mac compatible but which one?
You're correct that you want an ATA/IDE drive. Our Powerbooks cannot use SATA drives, which are used in the current Apple notebooks.

• Configuration problem with external Western Digital My Book 2 TB drive

How do I fix a configuration problem with my external Western Digital My Book 2 TB drive which used to both read and write. Something has happened so that the drive is now read only? There is 600 GB of data on the drive that I cannot lose, thus am very concerned about messing around with formatting the drive which is raid 1 and filled with data.

may not like to hear, but I'd skip on MyBook cases, nice looking as they are.
Get a 2nd drive case to recover to.
http://www.macsales.com/firewire
may need to play with the demo Data Rescue 3 from Prosoft
Backup/recover before repair is usually in order
never have one backup set. THREE sets of your data, minimum.
3rd party disk maintenance and repair should be a must and given rather than rely solely on Apple Disk Utility.
Data and system maintenance and recovery plan - should be like practice for sports, arts, military with practice and making sure you will know how and the tools you need - ahead of time
Resetting USB/FW ports, try another if one won't work. When 10.6 came out there was a lot of grinding teeth with external drives not working or mounting.

model 15-d006TU all  driver link for windows 7

Hi:
I have already answered your question yesterday.
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Desktop-PC-Questions/32-bit-driver-for-windows-7/m-p/3481621
Your notebook is not supported by HP for windows 7 32 bit.
You have to use drivers from other notebooks and manufacturers websites.
If those drivers don't work, then you need to install W7 64 bit.
Asking the same question every day will get you absolutely nowhere.

• H97M-G43, Live Update 6 does not include Intel ME driver

I like the Live Update 6 software very much and use it a lot. Today I found a problem. Why dosent Live Update 6 include the Intel Management Engine Driver in the Automatic scan for drivers? This is what I do to see the problem:
Fresh install Win7HP-64
Install the NIC driver manually in order to have Internet
Install the latest Live Update 6 from MSI (in this case from H97M-G43 utility)
Run Automatic scan, select suggested "drivers" only, and Total Installer
After finish, the Live Update 6 leaves a yellow flag in device manager. Is this a bug in LU6 or is it intended to be like this?

It's the same driver for all Z/H97 boards (including hotfix). There is no need to download anywhere else but the link on the product site of the board in question which has been provided earlier.
Quote from: flobelix on 17-October-14, 22:03:55
The Live Update software you like is unfortunately crap and you are very lucky that it did not brick your board thus far as it often does that.
Remove it and download drivers manually from poduct site: http://www.msi.com/support/mb/H97MG43.html#down-driver&Win7 64
You'll find the ME driver there too.

Hello, I have seen cd images for download here, but I don't have a clue as to which might work for the above-mentioned card. I really would appreciate some help, as I lost the cd and this issue is driving me insane. I downloaded some software from dell.com, as I have a dell dimension 2400. Like windows before it, the software just said it found no installed cards on my system. All I did was reinstall windows. I didn't think the software would be so hard to find and install. Any help would be much appreciated.

• Live! LS Model No. SB0220 and 98SE (buyer bewa

I would not recommend buying SoundBlaster Li've! LS.
I bought this card from Wal-Mart because it was a good price and all I needed was a basic sound card.
There were special instructions for installing onto 98SE, these instructions were printed on a seperate piece of paper and not printed in the manual NOR are they on the disc anywhere.
I had to reformat my pc....and when I went to reinstall this card I could not find the piece of paper with the 'special' instructions on it. I installed from cd anyway with high hopes and it didn't work.
I have been emailing Creative's tech support so they could just tell me what was on that piece of paper so that I can get my sound going again. It's been almost a WEEK and I have not resolved the issue. Today they emailed me and I had to take my sound card out to get some numbers off of it for them. The model number on the card DOES NOT match the model number printed on the box.
I don't understand how Creative can sell a product that they are so unsure about.
Everyday I check my email constantly to see if I get anything from Creative.... I have to wait allll day to get an email with a link to their support site...like I haven't been through the support section already!
I think this product should be packaged with a bottle of Tylenol enclosed so that they could at least help their customers with the headaches that are sure to come.

Below are my emails back and forth from Creative (in ascending order) read them if you want. Also you will find the solution to the problem....only for 98SE....found on a seperate paper, not in the instruction manual. I had to convince a Wal-Mart employee to open a box for me and make a copy. I wonder if I was "Creative" enough to get a job with Creative? I will repost the solution on another thread also. Hope this helps everyone.
===================================
OK, I have had enough. Your shoddy 'tech support' has gotten me absolutely nowhere with this. I should not have to do without sound for an entire week while all you do is keep showing me different pages in your 'Knowledge Base'. I had to resort to going to Wal-Mart myself and asking someone in electronics to open a brand new box and copy the piece of paper with the info that I needed on it. Below is the information from the amended instructions. Let's all hope that you add this to your 'Knowledge Base' so that no one else will feel as ripped off as I do right now.
Windows 98SE Users - PLEASE READ
Windows 98SE users may experience an impact on system performance while playing games using the default WDM driver that are installed by default. Removing the WDM drivers and manually installin VXD format drivers may often alleviate these problems. Follow the steps below to uninstall the WDM drivers and replace them with the VXD drivers.
. To uninstall the WDM drivers from your system, place your Sound Blaster installation CD into your CD/DVD -ROM dri've.
-if AutoPlay is enabled, the InstallShield installation routine will start as soon as the CD is detected; click on Cancel to exit the InstallShield Wizard.
-when prompted "Are you sure you want to quit the Setup?" click on Yes.
2.Using Windows Explorer or the My Computer icon on your desktop, go to the D:\Audio\Drivers folder (substitute the driver letter for your CD/DVD dri've if it is other than "D:") and double-click on the CTZAPXX icon.
3.Select Driver Uninstallation and WDM Drivers to remove the WDM Drivers from your system.
4.You will bbe prompted to confirm the removal of the driver
-Click on OK in the Uninstall window.
-Restart your system when prompted to do so.
-After the system has restarted, Creative applications that start with system startup may issue a message stating that the soudn card is improperly installed. Click on the OK button in response to each message.
5.After restarting your system, run the CTAPXX program again to intall the VXD drivers. Select Driver Installation and VXD Drivers and click on OK.
6.After the drivers have been installed, you will be prompted to restart your system again so that the drivers will be recognized by the operating system.
-Click on OK to restart your system

• Help on SB Live 5.1 & Digital I/O Mod

Hi
I've recently reinstalled my WinXP Pro Svc Pack 2 and is facing this problem with my SB Li've 5. and the Internal Digital I/O Module.
The Volume Control is detecting the Digital I/O module and have eg. Volume Control for the SPDIF In, when I'm using the WinXP Built-In SB Li've Series (WDM) Driver. But using this driver Creative Software like AudioHQ and Creative Mixer will not work. Creative Diagnostics fail and requie me to reinstall the drivers.
Installing the latest SB Li've Driver (Li'veDrvUni-Pack downloaded from Creative), AudioHQ and Creative Mixer does works, but the softwares are not detecting the Internal Digital I/O Module. The Volume Control column in does not reflects the SPDIF In (not hidden as well). AudioHQ also no longer reflects the Icon for the SPDIF Input.
Will be very greatful if someone can advise for a possible solution.
Regards,
Knite00

Your card is perhaps some of those OEM models (SB022-SB0229).
Maybe trick helps you to install the update.
By following instructions from http://www.tech-pc.co.uk/audigy-2.php you (perhaps) be able to use the latest Audigy n drivers w/ your card (and install Audigy software too, link for CD can be found from ). In generally, patching is quite painless to do, if you just use "Automatic method" and follow the instructions carefully.

I bought this from newegg model no. SB0220 sn. MSB02243440746S and can not find drivers?

Race30,
I would try the Li'veDrvUniPack download from out website. Go to:
http://us.creative.com/support/downloads
and in the search box type in Li'veDrvUni and it should take you to the 23.3 MB file you need. If this card is OEM these drivers may not install however it is worth a try. If this doesn't work you may want to contact NewEgg to obtain a driver CD from them.
