(BIOS has been tweaked/configured per SB IVE instructions on this site).
This device does NOT share the IRQ.
Cannot download latest Creative Drivers - Message says "there is no SB Li've 5. installed".
Load drivers from CD & sound works GREAT - UNTIL I THE NEXT TIME I BOOT UP.
Then, SYSTEM FREEZES (either at Win98 logo screen when loading, or at a blue screen of death calling for a major fault) - I then re-boot to SAFE MODE - basically unclick almost all drivers in msconfig -
When I get back to the Normal Desktop and check Device Manager for the Soundcard, there is a message under Properties for the soundcard that says:
"Windows hangs when attempting to load drivers and will NEVER LOAD THESE DRIVERS AGAIN".
It also says "no conflicts".
I've uninstalled with clean sweep and re-installed too many timees to count - even re-installed and re-updated Win98SE and DirectX - NOTHING HELPS!
I've also considered a possible problem associated with Everquest - have followed all instructions from their Tech Support - finally they said to get updarted drivers from Creative - the one's that won't download - see above.
PLEASE ADVISE - ANYBODY!

Your card is perhaps some of those OEM models (SB022-SB0229).

By following instructions from http://www.tech-pc.co.uk/audigy-2.php you (perhaps) be able to use the latest Audigy n drivers w/ your card (and install Audigy software too, link for CD can be found from [url="http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=25677">he re[/url]). In generally, patching is quite painless to do, if you just use "Automatic method" and follow the instructions carefully.

Determine System free memory (Not memory allocated to JVM)

Hi,
I have a Swing application in which I am trying to display the available free memory and total memory for the client machine on which it is running.
Runtime.getRuntime().freeMemory() and Runtime.getRuntime().totalMemory() gives me relative to the JVM occupied memory, and not the System's physical memory.
Is there any way I can capture that?

For one thing on most operating systems it isn't possible to distinguish between physical and virtual memory, and since virtual memory can grow or shrink, and pages can be swapped (hopefully) seamlessly between the two it isn't really a useful question. On most OSes I believe you can get information about the total memory being used (physical + virtual) at a given moment but to get that in java is probably difficult or impossible, and certainly something you'd have to write non-java code for.

Configuring Flash Media Live Encoder to launch at system startup

I followed the instructions and am able to get FMLE3 to launch at start-up but I would like it to start with the GUI screen up instead of running in the background. Is this possible?

Write a batch file with following code:
cd\"[windir]:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Live Encoder 3"
FlashMediaLiveEncoder.exe /p "C:\sampleProfile.xml"
sampleProfile.xml can be anywhere. Just give the correct path. Save the above batch file ( C:\fmlecmd.bat)
Now invoke this batch file when the system starts using below script-
Set objShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
objShell.Run "C:\fmlecmd.bat"
'Give FMLE time to load
WScript.Sleep 5000 'milliseconds to wait
objShell.SendKeys "{ENTER}" 'Start encoding
Copy-paste above lines in a notepad and save the file as launch_fmle.vbs Invoke this .vbs file using system startup or scheduled tasks. You can avoid the batch file by doing a couple of extra steps:
1. Add the FMLE installation directory as an environment varaible.
2. Add this line (after the 1st line) in the above script - objShell.Run "FlashMediaLiveEncoder.exe", 9

X-Fi Notebook: Random App/System Free

During the course of normal use, including:
- watching movies/videos encoded in Xvid, WMV, and others
- some gaming
- music listening through Winamp, iTunes, and Foobar
- web browsing, including Flash content
... The sound-playing application will randomly freeze, sometimes with all sound missing (including other apps) for a few seconds previous, and will not return or un-hang until I eject and reinsert my X-Fi. This has been consistent through multiple reformats, and has been replicated on other PCs, including those I have not tested on, including what's seen [url="http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=pcmciasb&message.id=324#M324">her e[/url].
In addition, reinsertion does not always trigger an instant redetection of the card, -always- resets my wave volume to maximum, and on some occasions causes a BSOD (error in T3.sys).
I am running Windows XP Professional, SP2 with latest updates on a Dell Inspiron E505. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

System freez with error message

For the last 2 weeks, my PPC G4 powerbook has been freezing after the screen goes gray and an error message tells me to "press the power button and hold for 10 seconds". This allows the machine to reboot and work for a varied amount of time. When the machine has rebooted, there is a message that states "OS X unexpectedly quit. Do yo want to report this".
I erased the volume, installed all the software & updates and the same message has appeared 3 times in one day. Can anyone shed some light on this message and possible remedies?

In the Utilities folder, there's a program called Console. Open up the Console utility and see if it shows any errors. If it does, post the errors here and try googling for them.

Webcam Live Pro causes system crash with Windows XP Home

Ever since installing Webcam Live Pro I have been having random system restarts. This ONLY happens when the webcam is being used. It happens when using the Creative Webcam Center or another application. Sometimes the restart will happen after a few minutes, and other times an hour or more. I am running Windows XP sp2 with all patches, and there are no driver conflicts listed in Device Manager. I have the cam set at 60 hz.
Even though there are no listed driver conflicts in Device Manager, there clearly is a driver conflict that occurs from time to time. I have read of other people having this same problem on this forum with Webcam Live Pro. I am using the driver ...0 which is dated 0//2004, and the automatic update program on this web site says that I am using the latest driver. But in the download section of this web site, the latest driver is listed as .0.0.0 and dated November 9, 2004. The driver numbers or dates do not match, and the driver on the web seems to have an earlier number but a later date!?
Does anyone (especially a Creative tech support person who may be reading this post) have any idea what to do? The driver version is one issue. But the big issue is the system crashes.

Solution! I discovered the problem causing the system crash, and I think it is sufficiently interesting to note here so that others may benefit from what I discovered. First, there is no fundamental problem/conflict with the driver for Webcam Live Pro. The trouble in my instance is that I was running another program that utilized the web cam, and that program conflicted with the Webcam Live Pro program that was constantly running in the system tray. Basically, the program in the system tray is loaded with the set-up for Webcam Live Pro. It constantly monitors the computer system to see if the cam is connected to the computer. When it does this while another program is using the cam, the conflict occurs, causing the entire computer to reboot. The solution is to right mouse click the icon for Webcam Live Pro in the system tray, go to settings, and to remove the check that allows the program to check for the presence of the web cam. Just to be safe, I then also exited the Webcam Live Pro program from the system tray so that nothing from that program could interfere with my use of the webcam using another program.
The result is that the webcam is rock solid, with no system crashes. I have been running it nonstop for hours without a problem.

In the reality, BW needs a time period to do some specific activities related to loading process from R/3, manage data load issues , legacy data migration to R/3,BW Business Report Development involve tedious field mapping between Legacy system and Business Content,sizing issues etc,but this depends from which flows do you want to activate...The R/3 go-live with BW, is really challenging: you will not have so much time to manage critical situation... initiate the data loads, R/3 system needs stable before BW Go-Live.
The Best approach is R/3 go-live first, let the R/3 systems stabilize first, because ABAP team needs to work on their production issues, if any customizations, then go for BW-Go live.

Live Update causing system to reboot!

Hey all!
My system spec:
AthlonXP 1900+ not o/c
MSI KT3 UltraARU BIOSv5.7
Radeon 64MB DDR
WinXP pro SP2
My system was absolutely fine before I installed a Connect3D Radeon 9800 pro the other day. It never crashed, it never stopped, it was great!
But...
I put this card in and I start getting loads of problems with the screen scrambling, restarting, games crashing. The only problem which was consistent was every time I ran Live Update 3, the system would restart.
Now I assumed it was the graphics card so I took it out and put in my old Radeon, but Live Update still makes my system restart. I'm sure I've used it before and so now i'm just totally confused. Why would this happen?
Can anybody shed some light on this problem?

Live Update Causes System Stop in Win 64

On my K8N Neo 2P system with Win 64, Live Update seems to install ok. But with RC1 version of Win 64, after the required restart, I get an infinite reboot loop as without ever getting to a stable desktop. With RC2, I get a BSOD at the same point. In both cases I can get the system started again by booting to Safe Mode and uninstalling Live Update.
Anyone know a fix?

Hi Biles, Firstly Have you got a free usb port? If so get yourself a "Creative Sound Blaster Live 24bit". Your minimum system requirements need to be....intel PIII or Celeron class 800MHz or faster processor, MicroSoft Windows xp(sp) or 2000(sp4),128mb ram, 340mb hard Disk space, Available USB. port, CD/DVDrom drive required for software installation ,ok so far , this may or maynot cure your problem,but....... I just bought the same system my self finding only half of my speakers were working. Istarted checking on the cheapest remidy "External soundcard" plugs in play you get a cd installation disk for all other needs (sound adjustments,speaker setups ect) but again hope this helps.
