SB Live! Drivers, c

Unfortunately, I have had to reformat my HDD. To add insult to injury, a 2 yr old "ate my ddi'ver disk. Where can I find the core drivers for the card? I tried looking around the site, with no luck, just updates. Any suggestions?
Thanks^^

Do this:
. Go to Downloads>SoundBlaster>Li've>SoundBlaster Li've Drivers etc.
2. On the downloads page scroll down to "Li'veDrv Uni-Pack" 23.32 Mb and download this file.
If Windows has not installed generic drivers unzip this file and follow the installation process. Otherwise be sure to remove the old drivers and then do the install.
The downloads page is somewhat cryptic but at least the stuff is there.

  • How to Install Latest SB Live Drivers Onto New Install of

I upgraded to a new motherboard and CPU and have just installed a fresh new copy of Windows XP on the machine. I haven't plugged it in yet, but I will be installing a SB Li've Value CT4830.
In preparation for installing this card, I tried to download the latest drivers, but the web site says that in order to install the latest driver, I must already have the driver from July 2002 installed.
Where can I get the July 2002 driver? It can't be on my original CD since I bought the card before 2002.
I am trying to do a minimal install of drivers, and do not need or want to install any non-essential appliction software, unless its necessary to get surround sound.
If it matters, XP Service Pack 2 is installed.Message Edited by anthonyanthony on -25-2004 02:25 PM

Same thing here with me. I recently got a new system but kept my Soundblaster
card (Li've Platinum 5.) and with it a fresh install of XP SP2. I knew I would
have to use the Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe driver update because the origi-
nal CD could not be used (same as you). So I was doing a fresh install of the
Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe with no pre-existing Soundblaster stuff installed (save
    for the XP Soundblaster drivers).
    So here is what happened:
    * ran Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe; did the typical install
    * sound is ok -- however, I ran the diagnostics and the mixer, soundfonts, and
one other one (the last item, forgot which one it was) failed
    * tried to start the mixer to verify the mixer failure and the familiar "CTDevcon.dll
    has failed" message came up
I have had this happen to me before in trying to install the Li'veDrvUni-Pack and I did
manage to get everything working again but I forget how. I believe it involved running
the CTzapxx program which I did try but XP keeps on putting in the default Sound-
blaster drivers after rebooting. I think this might be the problem (the fact that the
default drivers keep on getting installed) but I can't remember how to get around it.
    Moderators/experts/technicians -- any ideas?

  • Old Creative Sound Blaster Live Drivers Update

.Old Creative Sound Blaster Li've Drivers Update? Hey Guys,
In 998 or 999 I installed Sound Blaster Li've! MP3+ in my MicronPC Pnetium? using Windows ME. Subsequently I upgraded my computers to Windows XP professional in 2006. At that timCreative Labs still had some drivers update for this device.
I only used it for listening to muic occassionally, so there is nourgent need for me to upgrade the sound card. But recently I had a spyware scan and since then my sound card stopped wroking. I tried to follow the Microsoft suggestion:
    Start
    All programs
    Accesories
    Enertainment
    Volume Control
    Options
    Adv. Controls
    Advanced Options
    Play Control
Check out the box Digital output only
But I ould not find "advanced options by following the above sequence. I tried to load AudioHQU, but it said that my driver AHQTBU.exe needs to be reloaded.
I tried various web sites and I could not find a site that has the downolads for supporting this old iece of hardware
    ?Your kind assistance is appreciated

  • Soundblaster live drivers

I have an older model of Soundblaster Li've! (sound card and li've dri've) which I am having a hard time trying to get to operate on a?newer computer. The computer I am now using is a custom made computer with an AMD 64 bit processor and a Windows ?XP?operating system. I have tried several downloads which appear to be designed for this purpose, but have not been successful. Any help with regards to drivers and downloads would be greatly appreciated ..... Thanks ...... George??

Would help to know which Li've it is, there are too many variations to try and guess which you have. Have a look at the card and there will be a number like CTxxxx or SBxxx on it, then go here,
    http://www.ask.asia.creative.com/wwenglish/general/Products_list_audio.htm
and match up the number with the model name. Then go here,
    http://support.creative.com/Products/product_list.aspx?catID=&CatName=Sound+Blaster
and find it in the list.

  • Old win98 soundblaster live drivers or applications disabled audio CD playback on

Bought a used PC with XP installed on it, and put my sisters old soundblaster li've in it and used the old install discs without really considering it properly. Now it seems that the audio CD arent recognised by the system anymore, and audio CDs show up as blank. Tried to uninstall, but could not, as the system didnt make a restore point and wont go to any restore point after the install. Manually removed the card and all references in the registry to the creative card, but still no luck. System just wont see audio CD's. Will installing the unidriver set work to restore the audio CD functionality(assuming that it installs), or am I looking at a complete reinstall of windows. Dont have the original CD (used computer), so I dont want to have to do that. Anyone have an idea of how to resolve this?

Have you tried by installing the proper driver package intend for XP ?

  • Which shoul i use? realtek alc 650 or sb live value?

yah i haven't found any decent comparisons or reviews that pit these two sound controllers together and i'm hoping that someone could possibly answer this for me . . .
i have the soundblaster live! value card and there's the realtek alc 650 sound controller on my mobo . . . which one of these two do u guys think is better to use?
can someone compare the two? like which one uses more cpu load, sound quality, etc . . .

Yes ... I am having problems having sound in my video capture ... I downloaded the new SB Live drivers for XP and I found the extraction in my one of the local settings folder.  I've tried different ways to acquire sound in my video captures.
I switched back to the SB Live Value card a few hours ago.
I've got sound now but kind of hit and miss.
I use a Maxtor ATA 133 card and have four ATA 133 60 GB drives sitting on the bottom of my tower. Plus a 40GB and 60GB mounted normallly.  I do use the KT4V-L mobo and the XP 2500-Barton.
HP 9100 cd writer and Sony DRU-500a DVD Burner.
I'm using the LAN on board for DSL.
FANS: One is mounted in back ... I cut the holes out to increase air flow.
Another fan is mounted on side panel ... shooting outside air towards my CPU.
RAM is one stick of Kingston KVR333X64C25/512 DDR Ram
BIOS setting is FSB 166 setting.
System - Mouse hasn't froze up yet ... when it does happen I usually here a small faint sound ... "ping"-"poing" and then the mouse is moves again.  Audio and video playback is also affected when this happens.
I've changed my swap file to one of my 60 GB ATA 133 drives only. Setting is 1000 MB and C-Drive is not included.
I'm really frustated with this freezing up problem.  I've got too many new parts to figure out what is wrong.
WIN XP - KT4V-L MOBO - and new DDR ram are all installed in same time period.
Any suggestions?? ... Mouse hasn't froze up yet after changing Swap file settings.
Have you been to the Black Viper website ???
What do you mean by "Surround Mixer 2" are you refering to the baby blue mixer I saw a few days ago.  I liked the old mixer more.

And there are the SoundFonts that you can use. Did you try your SB Live! with the XP drivers (with Surround Mixer 2)?
Someone said about not beeing able to run 3dmark03 sound test with the realtek - right! the SB Live! has 32 hardware voices, can take a much more number of audio inputs (if you have some 5Ghz CPU u can run about 32 winamps at the same time ).
Hmm but you have a VIA... that has problems with SB Live!
I have also, but only in 9x, in XP is working smooth.
About the latency - you can get very close to real time if you install the ASIO drivers but the KK Mixer sucks.

  • MSI K9N DIAMOND CA0106 chipset AUDIGY or SOUNDBLASTER LIVE 24

I have 2 PC's one with an MSI K8N SLI PLATINUM mobo with onboard SOUNDBLASTER 24bit li've (CA006)
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=69&maincat_no=&cat 2_no=&cat3_no=
This system has run fine for over 2-/2 years now with no troubles it was connected to my PIONEER VSX 86 via SPDIF/toslink? and has excellent sound and performed all that I wanted including DTS DVD's and all my music video clips, DIVX movies etc etc
The trouble is, I have just setup my new system
MSI K9N DIAMOND also with the onboard Creative sound (CA006) and comes supplied with the Creative Audigy disc
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=028&maincat_no=&ca t2_no=7
When I try to install the drivers/setup disc it tells me that there is no Audigy onboard/installed? I have managed to install the drivers/disc from the previous soundblaster li've 24bit, It does work with the Audigy goldmine demo and has all channels of sound as it should but in the Surround mixer speaker settings it will only sound out 2 speakers even when it shows all 5. as it is currently configured
I have tried to download many other drivers with no luck
My main concern is the creative programs from my old system are not what I want, I paid for an AUDIGY setup not LIVE
Is it possible to get the AUDIGY onboard running as it should (showing AUDIGY in hardware manager, not LIVE 24bit)
I would like to be able to run the newer software from the AUDIGY disc but it is not compatible when the LIVE drivers are installed
I have had one set of drivers display AUDIGY in the hardware manager but when I tried to use the speaker settings etc it fails and says soundcard not found even though it clearly shows AUDIGY drivers are installed
I have been very happy with the creative sound so far on my first MSI system but I'm not very impressed with this setup and I'm still not sure who's fault it is MSI or CREATIVE?
Can someone give me some details as to what is going on here, I would like to know if it is also possible to use some kind of new software/programs for the soundblaster LIVE that has maybe more settings/functions or just a later better style as I may have to use the same on my new system
The menu's etc in my new manual (K9N DIAMOND) look almost identical to those included with the K8N SLI, The disc included with the K9N DIAMOND has an AUDIGY quick start program/demo which gives you a preview/guide on how to use the supposed AUDIGY which has all new menu's, layout and features which im unable to use?
As mentioned I have used the soundblaster 24bit LIVE for well over 2 years now connected to my PIONEER VSX86 via a digital cable so all the previous settings etc have been compared and doublechecked but im unable to find answers, If I am unable to find help or any way to install the AUDIGY as im meant to have I may resort to fitting another soundcard and I may got to another brand unfortunately
    Any help appreciated

If I am right the onboard Audigy on the MSI K9N Diamond utilizes the CA006 chip instead of the EMU0k2, therefore it is not a real/genuine Audigy soundcard. In fact it's the same as your former soundblaster li've 24bit which also utilizes the same CA006 chipset. That's why you can use the driver from the SB li've 24bit for your new "Audigy" onboard sound. Also there are other soundcards that are not genuine Audigy soundcards: Audigy Se, Audigy LS and, yes, also the X-fi Xtreme Audio, all utilizing the same chip, CA006. Creative Labs use some marketing techniques, add some different (newer) software/apps for the soundcard and give the soundcard (with the same chipset) a different name. In my opinion, if you for example buy a X-fi Xtreme Audio you in fact for the most part paid for the included newer softwares (which for example add "X-fi features like Crystalizer etc.).
If you really want a better soundcard, maybe go for the X-fi XtremeMusic or XtremeGamer which utilizes the genuine EMU20K chip (with hardware acceleration). The soundquality is significantly higher than the soundcards with the CA006 chip.
As for the drivers for the soundcard:
Official Creative Labs driver for Sound Blaster? Audigy? Value/SE/LS, or Sound Blaster Li've!? 24-bit audio devices
    Good luck!

Tried running Live Update 3 yesterday & today.  The main page comes up but the live BIOS, live drivers etc buttons aren't present.
I've tried setting active X controls to enabled or prompt.. No effect.
I've had Web Trap disabled & stopped firewall, antivirus monitoring etc.. no effect.
Are the MSI servers the problem?
Anyone else used live update today or yesterday?
the only thing Ive done that may have impacted on my machine was use spybot s&d 1.2.  Anyone else use this & either use live update 3 ok, or .. run in problems subsequently?

  • GeForce4 Ti4400 + AMD = trouble

    Running with the following components:
Tyan Trinity KT-A motherboard rev B (BIOS v1.10)
AMD Athlon XP 1800+ CPU (Retail package)
    1024MB PC133 RAM (1x 512MB, 2x 256MB)
    560watt power supply
nVidia GeForce 4 Ti4400 (MSI corporation)
nVidia TNT 2 Ultra (Creative Labs corp)
    Sound Blaster Live! Platinum
    Roland Sound Canvas SCC-1
    D-Link 530TX+ (Network card)
    Generic PCI 56K modem
    Windows 98 (Second Edition)
    Generic 3.5" 1.44MB Floppy
    Western Digital Caviar 33100 (3.1GB)
    Maxtor 16GB HD
    Lite-On 48x CD-ROM
This is a newly assembeled system.  With the GeForce 4 card installed, the system freezes before Win 98 finishes booting. According to the bootlog.txt file,
the freeze happens after loading RMM.PDR and BIGMEM.VXD....
I thought maybe the files were corrupted, so I extracted
new copies from the Win 98 CAB files, but to no avail.
I tried many different versions of the GeForce 4 drivers, but also  to no avail..the system always froze in the same place....
Just as a test, I replaced the GeForce 4 card with an older TNT 2 Ultra card...Sure enough, the system booted up the Win 98 log-in screen.
Unfortunately, at the Win 98 log-in screen, I see the message that the Sound Blaster Live! card cannot load it's MIDI files, so MIDI playback is disabled.....I then see a "blue screen error" that says the "system memory" is running low, and that Norton Anti-Virus Auto-Protect might not function properly.....
The system is running pretty slow, so when I check the "Windows 98  Performance settings", it says that the Hard Drives (and Floppy Drive) are running in "Compatibility Mode", but with 81% system resources free.
I thought maybe the VIA chip-set divers needed to be updated, so I tried 4 different versions, all having no effect...Also, in the main system information screen, while the correct CPU is displayed (Athlon XP 1800+),
the RAM count only says 1013MB... It becomes more strange because when in "Safe Mode", the RAM count accurately shows 1024MB.
    So far, I've tried:
New and older drivers for GeForce 4 card
New and older drivers for TNT2 ultra card
New and older drivers for SB Live card
New and older drivers for VIA Chipset
I am at a total loss on what to do, so if you could offer any advice or suggestions, I'd be greatful.  Do you think replacing Windows 98 with XP could help?
    Thank you,
    Andrew B.

Woo, finally got Win XP installed, and my GeForce 4 Ti4400 runs GREAT.  Also put that extra 512MB back in.
The only problem I'm having now is that any sound coming out of my SB Live (be it, CD Audio, MP3, or something thru the Line-In), starts to get really choppy whenever an IDE device is being accessed (i.e. CD-ROM, hard drive).  When the device is not being accessed, the audio is crystal clear. (Never had this problem with Win 98se)
The SB Live card is the only device sitting on IRQ 5, so it's not conflicting with any thing.  I've put that card in 4 different PCI slots, but it didn't help.
    Any suggestions?
Here's what I've tried so far (following Knowledge Base articles from Creative Labs), all with no improvements:
Disabled unused devices (Serial Ports, USB Ports, Parallel Port, Floppy Drive Controller).
Switched hard drive controller into PIO-Mode only.
Tried 15-16MB memory hole  (in BIOS).
    Tried lowering EAX reverb.
Lowered both Sound and Graphic acceleration (even lowered to ZERO)
Tried Win XP in both ACPI and non-ACPI modes
Updated VIA drivers to latest version
    Udated GeForce 4 drivers
    Updated SB Live drivers
Moved SB Live card to 4 different PCI slots
Slowed down AGP slot from 4x to 2x
Installed all of the latest patches/fixes for Win XP.
    Nothing has worked yet

  • 2 issues with X-Fi Titanium software (Dolby Digital related)

These arnt anything major but worth fixing IMO.
    1. There is a slightly noticable sound quality drop in nati've Dolby Digital sources when using the "Speakers" as the defualt device compared to using SPDIF in Windows playback devices.
For example I have a movie encoded in Dolby Digital, I use the optical input on my 5. and leave "Speakers" as default device in Windows playerback devices, this way I can add effects such as CMSS3D EQ etc, but leaving EVERYTHING off the SQ is not as good as selecting SPDIF in Playback devices, the major downside though is having SPDIF in windows audio panel bypasses any settings in the creative console.
I realise this may be an issue with Windows rather than Creative.
    2. Dolby Digital remains enabled when Headphones is automatically Activated / When Dolby Digital is activated with headphones 5. sound is used but the center, sub and 2 rear channels dont get passed.
I have my entertainment mode set to 5. wich automatically switches to Headphones when I plug them in.
I used Windows playback devices to do a speaker check, this is always set to 5. and the creative console never overrides this.
When I test my headphones with DD off I hear all 6 channels in my headphones, when I enable Dolby Digital I only hear the front left and front right channel, if headphones mode is suppose to be automated it should automatically adjust for Dolby Digital either by disabling it until the headphones are unplugged or to pass all 6 channels to the headphones like it otherwise normally would.

Edit: I now installed the Dolby Digital Live drivers, that were hidden on the download page until I pressed "All".
The DDL option now appears under "Encoder", but still there's not sound coming through.

  • Mixing for suround video

What do you use to mix in surround sound? I have gateway computer with 5.1 surround outputs but I only get two channels. I would like to get the subwoofer to work as well as all speakers with encore and premiere.

    Clare,
    A couple of questions:
What soundcard are you using? What drivers are installed for it? What video editing program (NLE) are you using? What audio editing program are you using?
Depending on how your audio system is configured, you might have to adjust your settings in the soundcard driver's control panel, accessed from the Windows Control Panel. For instance, my Realtec OB chip uses Creative Soundblaster 24-bit Live drivers and all of my Surround Sound settings are done from its interface.
You will also need to have all the necessary speakers connected, but this is pretty obvious.
For use of Dolby Surround 5.1 Sound in Encore, you then need to take Harm's advice and use the SurCode 5.1 Encoder in your NLE, to export to WMA or AC3 audio. I always Export as primary streams: video to DV-AVI (no Audio) and AC3 (5.1 Surround) for Importing into Encore.
In response to your post in the 5.1 article, as Joe Bowden points out, Encore will only "passthrough" Dobly 5.1 for monitoring purposes, but will handle it well, when you burn to DVD.
If you use Premiere Pro as an NLE, you might want to take a look at:
    http://www.adobe.com/ap/tips/prepsurround/page2.html
Even if you use other software, this might be of a big help. Also see the Premiere Pro-wiki: http://ppro.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
and do a search for "Surround Sound." I do not have that particular page bookmarked, but there is good material on production of Dolby 5.1 in the wiki.
Also, there are several good posts on 5.1 Surround Sound in this forum, with some great contributions by Neil Wilkes. Do a search of this forum and read and read. Also, if you are not finding all that you need with your search, find any article by Neil Wilkes, and click on his name. That will reveal his most recent posts.
Let's address your system's setup first, then you can do a bunch of fun reading on going to the next step. See the "questions" at the top of my post.

  • ITunes 7 - Skipping

My iTunes was working perfectly on my new laptop with iTunes 6....then I upgraded to iTunes 7 and I noticed some songs every so often had a little jump/skip in them.
Anyway, I was ok with that but since the second upgrade to 7.0.1 it's started to do it all the time in like every song and it's sooo annoying.
I have updated all my sound drivers on the PC. It plays sound on DVD's and other places perfectly and it is top of the range so it's just an iTunes issue.
    Any ideas?

I had the same problem with skipping and studdering, here's a list of what worked for others and for me...
Things that have worked for other people:
    1) Turn off crossfade (iTunes Prefs)
    2) Turn off Sound Enhancer (iTunes Prefs)
    3) Change the bit rate in the Quicktime Control Panel (on the audio tab) 48khz seems to have worked for some people)
    4) Make sure audio effects are disabled for your sound card (could be anywhere depending on the sound card)
    What worked for me:
I had to back grade my Sound Blaster Live drivers to the original Win2k drivers
What worked for another soundblaster live user:
He stopped using the Sound Blaster Live and switched to the onboard audio card on his machine

  • First time post problems on older Multivision PC

    Hope you can help!
Found all the posts here really useful stuff, never paid much attention to Powersupply probs before. Trying to keep the old box running, but have ordered new Carrera self spec tower, arriving in about 2 weeks. Asus mobo 3200 Barton 1 gig matched DDR etc.
General probs on system the one described in signature:
    * 1700 wont run at 133 FSB, only 100FSB locks up during Windows startup about the time keyboard and mouse draw power.
locks up during large file copying or installation. Problems reinstalling XP CD stops about 80%. Won't complete SP1 installation.
    CPU temps
Idle 39=40 Load 44-45   Case temp 37 (taken from BIOS and Fuzzy Logic).
Your stuff on PSU's doesn't mention much about USB devices. really the only additional stuff I have added over time to the original build. About 5 devices including FF Joypad, CF card reader, Wacom graphics tablet, Mouse, webcam.
Would this tip the PSU over the edge??
After initial large crash, tried to repair XP it deleted files but wouldn't install so bought new hardrive for clean install hence system now has 40 and 60 gig.  Needed old hdrive for backup of work files (rescue poor backups) installed new CDrom writer incase prob with reading XP disks.
Bios is up to date (Live update confirms)
Via 4 in 1 drivers updated
Ffresh download of S/B live drivers installed
Fresh update of Leadtek graphic drivers.
I don't see much change from original spec, unless PSU on the limit in the first place. Only addition is now extra Hdrive and Lan card. Really want to get this running stable back at 133 FSB so before I investigae the CPU cooling and add extra case fans replace Powersupply etc. Can any one think of anything else to consider?
Thanks for reading hope you can help.

    Update and thanks
New carrera arrived singing Barton 3200+ 1gig paired 3200 SATA HD Etc
Old system finally bit the dust, changed everthing to get it going finally picked up a ASUS A7N8X -X for £30 on Ebayn added Barton 2500+ and 512mb 3200 and all is well again.
So the MSI KT266 must have been causing the probs. But thanks to you guys I now understand a little more about power supplies (Antec Truepower installed) and CPU cooling (Vantec Aero 2) keeping the Barton 2500+ at 35 idle and 43 load.
Bought the 3200 stick for some comfort when I begin to investigate the potetial of the Barton 2500+. Currently running at stock only finished building yesterday!!
The ASUS forums aint a patch on the expertise here.
    Happy endings
    Thanks for the input.

this sound card I am hopeing is the icing on the cake,
I play "battlefield 2 " on a league team, along with all the newer FPSers, F.E.A.R., QUAKE 4,BROTHERS IN ARMS, AND THE LIST GOES ON
what kind of things can I expect from this newer card, if any?
any special gamer hints or tips? I should know?
    Thx Meth

This maybe similar to your problems... I have a SBLIVE Value an EMU 0404, once I installed the upgrades for the EMU the LIVE stop working normally, what I did was to roll back the Live drivers in windows device manager. As long as you tell EMU driver installation to keep a backup, I guess... Anyway EMU drivers are kept intact with the roll back of the Live drivers, so thats a secure procedure. Kind of strange and annoying not making compatible drivers for both cards in the first place....

  • Any known compatibility issues with disabling onboard sound and using

I have the K7 N2 board and disabled on board sound in the bios to use my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. Sound seems to work fine in Windows Xp and the few games I have installed so far. My problem is with UT2003. When I try to launch the game I get the splash screen then it simply goes away. When I checked the system folder and looked at the debug log it shows the following.

I am able to run UT in safe mode without sound. I yanked my Santa Cruz card and uninstalled the drivers and tried with on board but still had the same problem. Since disabling the sound allows me to play, it has to do something with either the on board or my card or some sort of incompatibility between the two. Anyone know of any issues? On a side note. If I was to wipe my drive and use the on board is the quality of the sound as good as using a separate card? Any help would be appreciated.

Just a follow up...I figured I could spend countless hours trying to figure out why UT wouldn'l load or spend 3 hours wiping the disk and reinstalling software. The latter proved to be worth it. My preference would have been not to install any of the audio drivers at all, but since they are bundled with the system drivers there is really no choice.  The one thing I did differently was not to install the live drivers from the disk that came with my board  but rather update to the newer Nforce 2 system driver dated 2/25/2003.
So the install went Xp Pro, Sp1, Video drivers,  newest system drivers, disable on board sound in bios, Santa Cruz drivers then UT2003 and the game loads fine. I still get the message about the game port not having enough resources but that can be ironed out.
Hopefully this information can help someone else out who might experience conflicts going forward.
A side note..I find that with two network cards (3Com and on board) that Xp will spend about  three mintues after it loads non responsive as it looks for the other network connection. Running the network wizard on box 1 connected to the internet and creating the network disk and running it on the other machine allowing the on board card to see the network and eliminates the painful lull after Xp load to the time I can do anything.
Thanks for the timely responses. I'm really enjoying this board. So many options, so little time.

  • IS the K8N Diamond the same as the K8N Neo4 SLI?

May sound like a stupid question, but I can't seem to get a definitve answer. Also, should I download the Soundblaster Live drivers from the Creative website or the MSI one?

Stick, you know better then to trust the MSI site. LOL.
       lol. silly me
anyway, seeing that there are 2 different names for the same mobo (K8N NEO4 PLATINUM/SLI & K8N SLI PLATINUM) I think it's also a matter of different geographical areas. best think is to look at the specifications at your retailer and you will be sure on what are you getting. if you will not purchase online and can see the mobo before, it is very easy to look on the SLi Platinum board for the second LAN connector. if it's not there it means that you don't have the Marvell chip nor the Sil3132 chip onboard. (PS - you can also count the SATA ports  )
with no intension to bash MSI on this one, but it seems very stupid to make 2 boards that where supposed to be the same with different features. at least put a different letter at the end     geeeeezzzzzz
