SB Live! I/O Drive on X-FI Xtrememusi

Hi,Im having this old SB Li've 5. Platinum card and I'm plannging to uppgrade the soundcard to Xtrememusic X-Fi.. I am realy in need of this I/O Dri've forom my old card. So I wonder if I can use my OLD I/O Dri've with a new X-Fi card? I can earn money here so what do you know about this? I think that the connectors on the picture look the same way on old and new soundcards. Only different I se is that IR-interface on X-Fi Platinum I/O Dri've.What dou you think about it'sJonas

I believe only the A2 bays and up are compatible with the x-fi, bay wise. Its risky but can always check ebay to see if someones selling off an a2 bay if money is tight. They do sell the Bay in the CL store but by itself its I believe $79 so you might get off cheaper by holding out and getting the Platinum version.

  • A88X-G43 Odd usb behavior Linux live boot Flash Drive

So i bought this A88X-G43 and it posts and all. I'm trying to install ubuntu server to an SSD and it's just not happening. I even tried just running the Ubuntu desktop live usb. It gets to the point where i can choose to run or perform the install, then reboots. When I perform a server install, i cannot boot into it, due to an error about a partition that did not get created.
    Hardware:
    APU: AMD A10-6800K
mobo: A88X-G43 *came with v3.4 bios, flashed to 3.5. flashed back to 3.4 for testing.
    PSU: Corsair  CX600m
    Hard drive: Patriot Pyro 120gb
Ram: 4gb of 1333 Samsung ram(testing from work computers) *Board would not recognize my Patriot memory.
I had an install running on another MSI motherboard same hardware(besides ram, worked on that board), with no problems.
I'm at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A temporary fix is, when installing Linux whether desktop or server, you need to do the following.
When you're prompted for Language, you will see some Function key options at the bottom.
Hit Esc and choose F6 then use "nomodeset" then continue with install.
Once you have linux installed you have to edit grub. It will need to look like the line below
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset"
Once you've made your edit and saved the grub file, update grub and reboot.
Tested and is a good workaround.

  • Live Update - AMD driver 12.104.0

    Hi,
I use the live update program to update the drivers etc. The program shows that current version is 12.104. and the online version is 8.947.0. In my world a lower number indicates an earlier version, and the highest number the latest.
Have I missed something here, or is this a bug? Should I install or drop it?
    Dag R

that 8.947.0 driver is for the South Bridge (Main Chipset) as the board has no Graphics so any mention of Graphics or VGA should be ignored as that has a VGA driver set but is just there as its totally generic and some boards that some makers produced do have a basic GPU on them that can use that but yours doesn't have one so it means nothing but it contains everything else too for the board to operate the Southbridge so it is needed.
the Graphics Drivers should be for whatever Graphics Card you are running so if its a AMD graphics Card get them from either the Manufacturer of the card or from the AMD and again if its a Nvidia Based card get them from the card maker or from Nvidia as you have not listed what Graphics card you have just the motherboard so I'm being generic and trying to be as thorough as I can with such limited information that you have gave us!
    does that make it clearer?
note: it would be more helpful if you listed your parts in the build so we know what you have so its not so hard and I do not have to guess here! >>Posting Guide<<

  • OS X MAVERICKS 10.9.1, Late 2013 iMac i7 and Western Digital 4TB  My Book Live Duo External Drive

How do I properly configure the external hard drive and Time Machine (TM) to be sure that TM backup are performed properly and the backups can be used to either restore my iMac fully or certain files can be restored in the future, if required.
I would like to know the drivers and software I need to install on the iMac to support the external hard drive, step by step instructions for correctly setting up the external drive would be useful.  Should I use the external drive as RAID 0 ( the drive is actually two-2TB drives in a case), or use its 4TB capacity without RAID?
Additionally, is there a way to test the restoration of files from the external drive to the iMac.  I do not want to render the iMac to an unusable state.

Be aware that Western Digital drives have had issues with Mavericks. http://wd-mavericks-data-loss.com/#!
I would format using Apple's Disk Utility rather than the drive software.

  • Where do project files live on hard drive?

I need to take one of my projects from my home computer, and copy it to iDisk so I can load it up on iMovie at work, to make edits. I've found the project file under Movies/iMovie Projects. The file itself is only about 6mbs which seems quite small. Anyway, is this all I need to transfer over and it should all be editable on my iMovie program at work? Or do I need to transfer over some of the iMovie Events/files too?

The project file is basically a text file that refers to the Event file, with the path, the in and out points, the adjustments, the titles, etc. You cannot edit without the event. It is therefore very important to move this stuff in such a way that the links are updated.
I am not sure an iDisk will work, but you can try it. One issue is that the iDisk does not show up as a valid drive in iMovie.
The way that works for sure:
Get an external drive formatted as Mac OS Extended (journaled).
    Open iMovie.
    Click View/Events By Disk
Command-Drag your Event to the icon in the Event list for the external drive.
Command-Drag your Project to the external drive by Command-Dragging the project to the external drive icon in the Project list.
When you get to your computer at work, you can plug in your external drive and edit the Project from there. Or you can reverse the procedure and command drag the Project and the Event to a drive on your work computer.

  • XP + SB Live 5.1 Driver Iss

Due to a computer crash, I decided to move my Li've Card to a new machine. The new machine (and the old) have XP. I didn't have any problems with the card in my old machine, but I can't get the drivers to install on the new one. I've tried installing from the installation CD as well as the Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG) from this website. The installations run without fail, however, the drivers will not install. I have the "Multimedia Audio Controller" lit up like a Christmas tree in Device Manager.
The Creative Diagnostics detects the card, but all of the driver tests fail.
I even double checked the integrated card to make sure it was off.
Any ideas? Hopefully there is just something I'm forgetting!
    Thanks in advance!

    Jeremy,
That was a step that I had taken (almost the exact step) and it didn't work either.
I came back on the board to give the good news... I got it working!
Since I couldn't try another slot, I decided to swap slots with my modem & SB card and it worked. I returned each of them to their original slots, and they kept on working. I'm guessing that the sound card just wasn't seated properly or maybe the slot was a little too dusty and it wasn't making a solid connection.
Thanks for all of your help, it's much appreciated.

  • Sb live 5.1 driver and hardware iss

hey i am having no luck installing this hardware with the unified driver package available on the site.... this card will install properly with the original cd that came with it but i no longer have it. i have seen several posts with the same issue and no moderator comments... is anyone woking on this issue (its been an issue for a long time) and can a moderator atleast tell us that we are not likely to get a fix/solution to this in a sticky so the people having these issues dont have to search through the forums to come to this conclusion themselves.
the only possible way i have to get this working is to unrar/uzip the driver exe and manually point windows to the drivers.... but none of the other features are installed and even after windows sees the hardware and is able to use it the autodetection that comes with the drivers can not. i am using this card primarily in linux since the open source alsa project has good support for it and harware mixing working but this really should have no issues in windows.
lastly, is it possible to get an original installation disk from creative?... the iso available on the forums does not work... it is the unified downloadable driver pkg set up in iso format.
    thanks

  • Can PS CS3 and PS-Elements live on same drive?

I finally have my new dream PC (and Win-7 Pro) for video projects and all of the CS apps.
I bought PSE-7 for use on my laptop and have CS3 Design Premium that's never been installed - (waited for the new PC).
Will I have any problems with both PS CS3 and PS-E living on the same drive?
    Thanks for your advise,
    Coach Bob

Actually, that can work very well indeed.
The high throughput of SSD coupled with the zero seek times makes SSD a good choice to host everything.
I have a RAID array of four SSDs that I use for everything that's running - Windows, the swap file, all apps, and Photoshop scratch.  I also have some spinning drives on the system, but they're just for archival and are spun down (power saving state) most of the time.
I can barely notice when Photoshop goes to its scratch files.

  • SB Live 5.1 driver without driver CD - H

I just reinstalled win xp on my computer after one year - not bad for bill gates.
Do not find the driver cd for my Soundblaster Li've 5..
On the Homepage are only updates - no full versions of the driver.
Win xp has no drivers for the Li've 5. "on board".
    So?
Must I trash my card now and buy another.
Or is there a way to install the stupid driver for
a simple soundcard without the f**** cd?

  • Live 5.1 driver upda

I recently purchased a headset in order to use online telephone services. The headset is a proprietary brand but the sound quality is apalling and subject to break-up. The manufacturer recommends loading the latest sound card drivers which I duly downloaded from Creative. However, when I tried to load them I received a caption saying that no Creative drivers could be found on my system and to ensure that they are installed. They have and they are there, but XP has set up the sound card using its own drivers. I've tried to change this but XP denies acceptance of the Creative drivers, probably because they do not carry a Microsoft approved signature. Does anybody have any idea how I might overcome this so that I can download the latest Creative 5. drivers. Would be grateful for any help that might be available.
    Thanks and peace to all.

Thank you for responding Catherine. Originally I did in fact go passed the XP caution relating to driver certificate but it was beyond that point that XP refused to accept the change of driver. However, subsequent to your response I repeated the procedure but this time allowing XP to do the driver search instead of selecting the driver manually. This resulted in a change of driver but when the system rebooted a high pitched whistle was coming from the on-board speaker. Suffice it to say that no end of things were tried to eliminate it including rolling back the driver and finally restoring the system to an earlier date. None of this worked. On each subsequent start up the whistle was still there. The only way I could stop it was to shut the machine down and remove the sound card. Before replacing the card I will wait for a response about how best to set up the driver given the card type, which is a Model SBO 00. The rest of the system comprises .3Ghz PIII on an Asus TUSL2-C motherboard, 256 Mb SDRAM 33, GeForce2 MX400 and XP Pro. Thanks again. Your response was very much appreciated.

  • Live 5.1 driver for vi

    Hello,
Please tell me how I can make my Li've 5. soundblaster work on my new vista 32 bit
    thank you
    Ralph

It would appear that you cannot. Also, I noticed that this product was just classified end of service life. I have been watching closely on this one for drivers. I personally am going to respond in the only w3ay that seems logical to me. I will buy something other than a creative product. I have a perfectly functionaly Li've 5. card that is useless because they choose not to support it now. They had no trouble taking my money when I bought it.
