SB Live to Logitech Z- 640

Hi all,
I'm gonna ask a question that's probably been asked a thousand times before, so please dont burn my Ass too quick. I have tried reading here heaps, and not found a conlusive answer.
(climbs into asbestos suite) - I have installed my CreativeSoundBlaster Live! 5.1 Digital sound card (model SB 0220) onto my XPPro (SP2) using a Celeron 2.4 Ghz with 512 MB RAM.
It installs no probs and comes up as a EMU10K with the driver version 5.2..296
So far so good.............. but when I go to install the CD ROM that came with it .............. it screams I have no Creative Product on my PC.... WTF ?
I've downloaded every update that seems relevant .............. still to no avail. They won't complete installation either.
Isn't it funny that this model number appears NOWHERE on the Creative site............. maybe coz it's their cheapest model ? MMmmmmmm
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeaze help asap. My kids are about to shoot me http://forums.creative.com/i/smilies...iley-happy.gif
Cheers all.

  • Soun Blaster Live and Logitech Z-

    I have tested the Logitech Z-680 system with the test button on the Z-680 handheld. All speakers work as they should. However, when I test the speakers from Sound Blaster the center speaker does not work and the front right right speaker plays on the front left speaker with the front right speaker not working at all. All other speakers are okay. I have read and read to no avail. Can not find an answer.

    I know I've written this in another thread, but I'm 99% sure that the Soundblaster Li've! card is not completely compatible with digital speakers. I have the Creative Inspire 5700's, which worked beautifully when I previously had an Audigy . When I upgraded my computer, the people who put it together put in a SB Li've! card instead of the Audigy I asked for. I now, although am able to run the speakers, have to put up with mediocre sound from ?250 worth of speakers. I'm going back in tomorrow to the shop to have them replace the SB Li've! with an Audigy 2 ZS.
    Hope that helps you. If I'm right, your card will have 4 ports on the back of the card. My Audigy had 5. Typically, the 5th port is the port I used for the speakers! The Audigy 2 has 6 ports, one of which is the right port for digital speakers. Looks like you're gonna have to spend more money if you want the best sound, mate.

  • Streaming 2 x H264 live videos using smil file?

    Hi,
    I want to be able to stream a live video using Flash Media Live Encoder 3 using two options of 300 kbps and 150 kbps.
    I want to give users a choice of stream quality depending on their available bandwidth to maintain the live feed.
    I have set it up so that the Bit Rates are 300 and 150 and tick marks on: 1 and 2
    my FMS URL is correct
    The stream names are test1 and test2
    in the Stream: box I have written: test1;test2
    Yet I have also tried : mp4:test1.f4v;mp4:test2.f4v and other combinations.....
    The SMIL file has the following:
    <smil>
        <head>
            <meta base="rtmp://live" />
        </head>
        <body>
        <switch>
              <video src="mp4:test1.f4v" system-bitrate="150000"/>
              <video src="mp4:test2.f4v" system-bitrate="300000"/>
        </switch>
        </body>
    </smil>
    The SMIL file is in the same root level as the web page.
    It does not work, I have tested this with prerecorded videos and it works fine, so I thought it should work with 2 live streams also.
    I believe one of the issues might be the Stream: test1;test2
    in Flash Media Live Encoder 3?
    Second related questions:
    Also using Dreamweaver CS5 what is the correct setting to stream an FLV with h264?
    I also tried mp4:test1.f4v in the stream name but it comes back with anerror that the name is wrong.
    any solutions to what I am doing wrong would be appreciated

    Thanks for the response.
    With respect to the second query I had, I do understand that FLV does not support H264, I just used the term FLV to mention it was a flash video I was refering to rather tahn the codec used.
    The first part, I did actually try that option previously, but it still returned an error of "Cannot Connect".
    I used the code generated by the FMS dynamic video page to create the video object.
    I simply changed it in Dreamweaver to: ( Bold text are my edits to the original. ) The original generated vod instead of live.

    I think something in this code is causing the connection error.

  • Need Creative SB Live! value (WDM) driver for win7

    hey,
    ? i just upgraded my PC to win7 and am looking for ideas to get my sound card (Creative SB li've! value (WDM) working again - is there an updated driver or?do i put another Win7 compatible Sound card?
    thanks,
    ? ramesh

    Re: Need Creative SB Li've! value (WDM) driver for win7] the driver and applications that exist for the package are very crippled. The card is very very old, even though I loved mine when I first got it. The headache and workarounds that you would have to use in order for that card to simply function are not worth your time.
    I am not here to market, but in the last month I have been switching between my Dell OEM xtreme Music, my X-FI Titanium and my Fatality Gamer Pro Platinum. The last two are great cards and have worked for me at least, flawlessly in Vista and Windows 7. I admittedly use the Daniel K. 2.0 pack as a base for my software install of all three, but that coupled with the newest Creative issued driver have worked beatifully.
    I picked up my Titanium off Ebay for $40.00. I bought my Dell OEM card for $30.00. I bought the I/O bay for the X-FI Fatality for $25. So your options are very open. That old li've will not accelerate sound well at all for Direct X based games, and you will be very disappointed. Again, all this is opinion, but I have been switching intensely between the above cards lately, and they are worth it. I do not have digital speakers, like the Logitech z-5500's. But my four year old pair of Logitech z-640's sound fantastic. I tried even with my onboard sound just for giggles. It was just that:? giggles.
    Try this for a great price and fantastic performance.

  • Logitech going 5.1 Digital

    Logitech has a new set of 5.1 Digital Enabled Speakers hitting the Sub $100 Market.  They will produce 51 Watts of power and should be great bang for the buck.
    You can check out the complete specs here:
    Logitech® Z-640
    This has really got me interested in Seeing its Big Brother, the soon to be released Z-680s.  They are 450W 5.1 THX Digital Enabled Speakers.

    I've got the rears working by flipping Front Right with Rear Right and plugging the "green" plug into the "Rear Left and Rear Right" output on my CNR card.
    I plugged the black connector into the green on the nForce. That got my front left and rights working.
    Then I plugged the orange (for the sub and center) into the blue on my CNR card.
    Everything is almost working right. EXCEPT, I get no front left and right definition. It's acting as one channel.
    So for "Front Left" and "Front Right" when the woman talks, it comes out both the front speakers.
    Ugh.
    (Also, when I tick dolby output, I get NO output now.)
    yeah that was my question.. how well does it really split up the signal??
    I'm interested in getting some 5.1 speakers.. but i dunno.. this is a reason i wanted ones with digital input...

  • At wit's end over lack of center channel.....

    Hi everyone,?My cousin just gave me his old 5.1 speaker system (logitech z-640, analog) and for the life of me I can't get 5.1 surround on my Creative Audigy Platinum card. I can get the Creative 5.1 surround demo to play, but my DVDs won't (in 5.1, that is). When I test the speakers using the Creative software I get all speakers, no problem. I've tried Windows Media Player 10 and a software DVD player that came with my Plextor DVD burner. Here's the bullet point version of what I've tried:
    1. set speakers to 5.1 in Creative surround mixer.
    2. set Widows XP to 5.1 speakers
    3. set Widows Media Player and the other player to output audio to SPDIF
    4. set Audigy to AC3 decode5.1 reinstalled software
    With setting the software DVD players (both) to SPDIF, the DVDs lock up in the player. If I set the software to 2 channel output, the DVD plays, but only the front/rear, left/right and sub make noise (no suprise there). I've searched the forum, but haven't found the answer yet. Seems like a lot of people have an issue with this so I don't feel too bad. Anyway, can anybody lend me a hand here? Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.
    Best Regards, Mike.

    Whew!? I got it working after a lot of effort. First of all, thanks for the replies. Here's what worked for me. I decided to start from scratch so I did a clean sweep uninstall of my Audigy. At the end of this procedure you are directed to manually delete the Creative folder from your drive. I was curious, so I opened it before I deleted it and noticed that there were folders for my old SB Live! Value and my SB Live! 5.1 (I'm a big fan of Creative products lol!). I can't help but wonder if maybe that had anything to do with the lock up after selecting SPDIF in WMP 10. Anyway, I reinstalled the Audigy and then installed a nVidia DVD player that I found on my motherboard driver disc. I bet WinDVD would have been a good choice as well. I went into the options for the nVidia player and chose SPDIF out and fired up my copy of T2 extreme and Viola!? 5.1 surround!? Couldn't be happier. Next, I tried using Windows Media Player 10 (after selecting SPDIF out) and I got 5.1 surround again!? Very nice. Now, since I made two changes at once (1. clean sweep, and 2. New DVD player with presumably new codecs) I can't be sure which made the difference. In any case, everything is fine now. I hope someone else finds this thread useful.
    Best Regards,
    Mike.

  • My SBLive! 5.1 has no 5.1 opt

    Here's the problem,
    I've loaded the drivers and some software so I can use my 5. card with my 5. system but when I go to choose what speaker setup I'm going to use, I only have 4 options: 2 speakers, 4 speakers, headphones, and Li've!Surround, no 5.. It is irritating. I'm using a Logitech Z-640 system that <EM>needs</EM> that digital channel to be a center/sub analog channel in order for the center/sub to work. I would really appreciate an answer... I've spent a lot of time trying a lot of things.
    Thanks
    DM

    Perhaps you have the same problem I had.
    My 5. only supported 5. using the digital output, or 4. using the coloured plugs.
    Finally, I bought a sb LIve! 24bits, and my problem get solved (my speakers don't have digital decoder, so I have to plug the three jacks and my older sb li've! didn't has the center chanel plug
    Good luck (and btw, thanks to cat for the help she offered me )

  • Premiere Elements 12 - Add media webcam "no device control"

    Hi, I have Adobe Premiere Elements 12 and I am trying to record live using Logitech C920 Webcam. Whenever I try to "add media", even though it recognizes both image and audio devices in the webcam, it shows "no device control" and the screen is black. How can I solve this situation? Thank you.

    franciscoptm
    Just some thoughts....
    Premiere Elements 12 assumed on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit
    Add Media
    Webcam or WDM
    In the Premiere Elements 12 Capture Window, there are 2 tiny arrows pointing right at the top right of the Capture Window. You can access
    Capture Settings and Device Control there.
    Click on Capture Settings to bring up the Project Settings dialog. Click on Capture in the left column in the Project Settings dialog..
    In the Project Settings dialog, you should see "Capture Format: WDM Capture" and to the right of that a Settings tab.
    Click on that Settings tab to bring up the WDM Capture Preview Settings dialog.
    In the WDM Capture Preview Settings dialog, assure that you have check mark for
    During Preview
    Preview Video on Desktop
    Preview Audio on Desktop
    During Capture
    Preview Video on Desktop
    Preview Audio on Desktop
    Also, if you go to the Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace Edit Menu/Preferences/Device Control, what choices do you have
    and which one is selected?
    We will be looking for your results. I have seen a video tutorial on Premiere Elements 12 working with the webcam that you appear
    to be using and all seems to be working.

    You are welcome. I looked to see what worked best on my system and went through many driver iterations. I downloaded Microsoft versions, Creative CDs, etc and found that nothing worked. I finally found the best blend that worked for my system which included the Dan K. driver pack plus the newest Creative driver overlaid on top of that. That worked best for me. Ask any other "super contributor" if I have not posted this dozens of time, dozens.......Get the Dan K. pack, use it on a freshly formatted system, Overlay the newest Creative driver. That is it. Why does mine work and yours does not? Because I dont come here and stomp my feet , expect somebody to guess what is inside my system or read my mind. I have posted and will do so again now......
    I use Dan K. driver pack 2.0
    Newest Creative x-fi Titanium driver (yes Titanium driver) and both my X-fi Titanium and X-fi PCI-regular Fatality Plantinum. ?
    (I know the driver is for? a PCI express card but it works for PCI-regular)? I have posted this a dozen times too.

    Anything else? Hope this hel

  • Computer freezes and I think it's because of the soundca

    Hey Guys,
    I have a Dell XPS Gen 3:
    3.6 ghz HT
    024MB RAM
    ATI RADEON X800XT
    Audigy 2 (plain)
    WinXP Home, SP
    DirectX 9c
    Whenever I play a game that utilizes EAX processing (Far Cry, Thief Deadly Shadows) after about 30 minutes the screen freezes, then goes blank and I hear a just a low-level hum from my speakers. I am using Logitech Z-640 speakers. I talked to Dell, and they were just twiddling their thumbs about the issue. I think it's the soundcard because when I play games that don't use EAX everything's fine, and when I turn off the EAX functions on the two mentioned games, it seems pretty stable; I've played both for at least two hours straight and no problems. But, I lose out on the beautiful Dolby 5. sound in Far Cry and as everyone knows TDS is a much poorer game with 5. sound. Doom 3 ran great in surround, but that game uses a software surround system.
    I have a plain old Audigy 2, not ZS. Can anyone help me with this? It's incredibly frustrating having to save constantly (or in the case of Far Cry hoping another auto save will occur) before my computer yet again freezes! Is my card defecti've? Is there some byzantine trick I can use to fix it's I read somewhere that there's a compatibility problem with some ATI cards and the Audigy, but I have the latest drivers installed.
    Thanks in advance!

    Tsumake,
    At this point I would make sure that all of your system's drivers are up to date including any chipset or bios updates (make sure to follow Dell's directions carefully if you choose to flash the bios). If there are any drivers for the Audigy 2 on Dell's website, use those. I would suggest not to use the drivers from the Creative website as OEM cards often use different drivers than the standard retail cards. You may also want to contact Dell as they will have more knowledge regarding specifics of this system and troubleshooting on it. Let us know how this works out for you.

  • Help with Audigy 2 ZS

    Hey all,  I just built my very first computer and I have also installed a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS in there as well.  But after I have installed all the drivers and the like, I get no sound at whatsoever after the reboot.  I have no idea what is going on.  I also installed the real AC' 97 and nvidia audio drivers but I don't think they do too much if I don't have my 5.1 setup(Logitech Z-640) connected to the onboard audio.  anybody have any suggestions?  thanks.

    Probably set to digital output instead of analog- go to the THX setup console, and set to analog output.

  • Audigy 2 ZS hard drive and CD rom sound coming through speak

    Using either speakers or headphones, the spinning sounds of the hard dri've or the CD Rom are being picked up and amplified. Any way to get rid of this noise? Never had it before.
    Thanks
    Bryan

    Hi, I was searching the forums for this problem. I don't think turning off the CD Audio is much of a fix. Since when you pop in a CD the CD Audio turns back on and the buzzing, clicking and dri've noises come back. The card is plugged in on pci slot 5, pretty much as far away from the dri'ves as possible. A real fix from Creative would be nice. What good is a sound card that causes distortion when trying to listen to CD's? The sound from this card is geat compared to the built-in AC 97. So how about a REAL fix? System Specs: GigaByte GA-8KNXP, Gb PC 3200, P4 3.0 Ghz, Win XP Pro, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, Audigy 2 Zs, 5 Hd's, 2 in Raid 0, 2 in Raid , Boot Hd, Lite-On 8s 8X DVD/CD Recorder, AOpen DUW 608/ARR Dual Layer 6X DVD/CD Recorder(Which the Audigy 2 card dosen't reconize), Thermaltake 460 watt Silent Pure Power PS, LogiTech Z-640 5. speakers Thanks, BornAgainPagan

  • Audigy 2 ZS Plat/WinXP x64 rear sound plays through fr

    As the title says, when I try to run the test through the Speaker Settings application the rear right/left channels come through the front right/left respecti'vely. What's going on here? Yes, it is set to 5. and yes the cables are hooked up correctly (orange, black, green from the firewire port over). Speakers are Logitech Z-640.
    I'm going to try under Vista and report my findings.

  • Only one audio out for a speaker set that requires 3 ??

    Hi,
    I just got my splendid MacBook pro today and I put my PC for sale simultaneously.
    Switching to Mac was a charm - I'll save the details - but only one thing is still bugging me :
    I've got a Logitech Z-640 speaker set. The center speaker is the one to connect to the computer (or audio card whatsoever).
    Well, it has three plugs, since it's a surround speaker set.
    But, my MacBook only has one (the earphone plug indeed).
    So if I plug the "green" plug, everything seems to work.
    I unpress the "matrix" button on the center speaker and they all work, including the subwoofer.
    On my PC I used to have a small application that would "test" them (make each speaker play one by one, so you could tell that they are all controlled independently and therefore that surround sound is enabled).
    I couldn't find anything like that on OSX - is there a feature like that ?
    And do you think I'll still be getting surround sound effects even though I could only connect one of the three plugs ?
    Any other suggestions ?
    And is there some kind of devide, like a USB one, that would let me connect the three plugs ? Is it worth it ?
    THANK YOU FOR YOUR ANSWERS !!!

    Congratulations on your new mac. It is a great machine.
    First of all, the MacBook Pro actually has 2 audio outputs -- they are just collocated. One is the analog headphone jack and the other is a mini toslink digital optical port.
    The "green" plug you refer to is just a stereo analog input. The "matrix" feature of your speaker system is just simulating surround sound. If this is OK with you and you don't want or need true surround sound that is just fine.
    There is equipment available that can separate and convert the digital optical output signal into discrete analog channels, but this equipment is highly specialized professional gear. You're not going to spend $1000 to hook up a $50 speaker set.
    If you want true surround sound, you should upgrade to a speaker system that will accept a digital optical input, normally referred to as toslink or s/pdif.

  • Sound during games...very strange prob

    I have a strange problem. When playing games I only hear sounds like gun fire, other characters speaking or general ambient sounds when I am not facing the sound source. If I turn my character to face the sound it disappears, I need to turn at a 90 degree angle to hear.
    I am using a SB Li've! card with Logitech Z-640 speakers.
    Has anyone experienced this before?

    Just want to clarify, I don't need to really move the direction my character is facing, just the camera direction. If I have my camera straight behind my character and he is talking to someone face on, I need to move the camera so that I am looking at my character from the side in order to hear what is being said.
    I know this sounds weird but I don't know how else to describe what's happening.
