SB Live24

I've posted in Professional Audio forum before but no one answer.Do someone here know about my problem?
I've just got SB Li've24 External USB for few days and start working with Creative USB ASIO on Cubase
The problem is an error message about USB Bandwidth when I increase the value of Sample Rate, Bit.
And when I got this error, I can't get into Creative ASIO USB setting page to change value back lower because the ASIO driver won't load.
The only ways is to Full Format WindowsXP.
I'm sure that I'm using USB 2.0 Port.
Is there the way to reset the value without having to load the ASIO driver?
I want someone's help to tell me which settings is best for my USB Soundblaster Li've24,
Both "ASIO value" and "Creative\Device Setting" on Start Menu.
Is it best to not set this USB SB to Windows's default audio device when using ASIO?

Please ignore my post, sooooo embarrassing, user error (hands up). Nothing wrong with the hardware or drivers.
As i didn't have to do this before when i was using my Fatalty card without using optical i honestly didn't give it a second thought but i had to go to the encoder settings from the creative audio software and change to Dolby or DTS, it was switched off so i chose Dolby at first and then my Logictech Z5500 5.1 LCD Panel changed to the Dolby sign and then there was light (sound). I felt very stupid indeed.
However it would have been REALLY helpful if i could have spoken to someone in person, it took me 6 hours before another kind poster from another website told me where i was going wrong, Creative really need to have a technical support phone line as their knowledge base is VERY limited!

I don't know about specific  current laptops, but if you are buying at the moment, my suggestion is to seek out a business machine that is supplied with Vista Business edition, and has XP "downgrade" DVD's included or at least available, and with the option to "upgrade" to Windows 7. That way you should get a machine with the ability and available drivers to run any of the 3 OS's. The availability of XP drivers could be crucial. Vista Business also has vital things like a proper backup application unlike the Home editions.
I don't think many (any?) current machines come with separate internal soundcards, as opposed to the HD Audio and AC97 bodges, so the Tascam device will be important. Beware of any internal audio that professes to have enhanced "Soundblaster" features. This can mean there is a useless, draining software layer on top of the already mediocre internal sound.
Higher rotation speed eg 7200 on the HD is good, although it may be handier to install a better HD yourself and either use the original for a different OS or as an external drive.
You'll probably find that you will spend a lot of time disabling or removing all sorts of unwanted features.
I use several laptops here, mainly Acer and Lenovo. Both these companies have accessible sites for driver updates. The Lenovo machines have both survived structurally - hinges etc. Acer haven't been as good although the most recent one looks sturdier. I regularly use my machines with my US-122 (not L) and various versions of Audition for simple recording, editing and playback, and normally have no problems, even under Vista.

  • Sound Blaster Live24 record

I have checked out the archi'ves, but have found nothing to help me there...
The problem is I don't seem to have enough volume when recording thru the blue input jack.
I am using a VCR for the source, with a recorded VHS Tape and using only the sound tracks from the tape...
According to the help files, I can do this. Only thing wrong is the volume indicator is staying way down in the green, with no sign of any amber, or red... In other words there doesn't seem to be enough volume...
Any help would be appreciated... Thanks...D

I am aware of the -5V.I have a OCZ modstream 520 watt and that is listed as having the -5V line.I suppose I could check it with a meter.
I will go to Creative and download their driver for their SB live card and try that.

  • Vista RC1 32bit and Live24

So... sound was working fine for me with my on-board Li've! 24bit (MSI K8N Neo4 SLI Platinum).
Now in RC I've loaded up the 0.04.0055 drivers (released september first)... and even though the soundcard shows up in the device manager the sound control panel claims that there are no output devices installed.
Is there anyone out there that has this working?
It says that RC support for this card is scheduled for September... does that mean the drivers that were released on the first? Or is there another release coming later this month?
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Friedmud

I actually figured this out thanks to a tip in another thread....
Just install the Windows XP drivers for this card! They work _immediately_... you don't even have to reboot!
Let me know if it works for you!

  • 2.1 speaker setup on the SoundBlaster Live24 Extern

I have a 2. speaker setup but I can not figure out how to configure the Li've24 for 2.

I have a pair of Swans M-200's and a Totem Thunder Subwoofer. I have the Swans plugged into the front L+R output and the Subwooder plugged into the Sub/Center output on the Li've24 external. When I select 2/2. speaker output it only shows me the left and right speakers and the test tone will only produce sound out of the front left and right speakers and not the subwoofer. When I click on the "Bass Managment" tab everything including "Bass Redirect" is greyed out. The only way thus far I have been able to get the subwoofer to work at all is if I select 5. then the test tone will produce sound out of the subwoofer.

  • No sound on sb live24 created fi

I have just installed a sb li've 24 external which works fine playing back music that is already on my pc. The problem is when I transfer a track from cassete tape to the pc (via the 'line in' jack), it creates the file which I can save as mp3 or wma but there is no sound when it is played back.
    any ideas would be appreciated.

    Mikeyice,
Try doing a cleansweep and reinstall of the sound card to see if perhaps the updated drivers did not install correctly. Follow these instructions to cleansweep:

  • SoundBlaster Live24 exter

I am having a problem with my recently purchased Soundblaster li've24 external usb card. I can listen to music from external sources and apparently record it but the files are always empty when played back I have reinstalled software and upgraded it via the website to no avail. Anyone got an answer?

    2nd Posting.
OK I have the audio coming out of the 2 analog speakers that are connected to the Line Out plug per the instructions.
Issue # is the audio is distorted and mushy sounding
Issue #2 is I have to have the Advanced properties set for quadraphonic (4 ch) in order to get any sound out of the card.
Sounds like Driver issues to me. Have installed the SB24_WEB64_LB__04_0055.exe so my drivers are up to date(?)
    This is progress however stumbling.

Came with two discs.Try loading the drivers from the MSI disc “Drivers and Utilities”.I get insert CD2.Which is???Try loading drivers with the SB Live disc.It loads and stops
on “error loading streamci” and then “streamci.dll”.Have to click on “ok” about 30 times and it finishes the install.Device manager shows all ok and and that the drivers are fine. But go to properties and I get the drivers are installed but not enabled.Go to Sound and Audio Devices in control panel and I get none installed.Creative wont help-It’s OEM!
Tried removing the drivers and installing one from MSI –same results.

  • Soundblaster Audigy on MSI K8N Diamond Plus, Sound Linked? vs Audigy2 ZS?

Had a couple of quick questions regarding the Soundblaster Audigy onboard chip on my MSI K8N Diamond Plus.  I have the audio connected to a front panel, and when I try and change the Right or Left speaker volume balance in Windows (by going to volume control and dragging the balance slider right or left), the volume slider goes down and the balance slider snaps back to center.  As in my previous post, I had some damage to my front panel connector pins and wanted to make sure this wasn't a hardware issue requiring a replacement of the board.
Also, I have a Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS card from my previous system, and I was wondering if it added anything the onboard Soundblaster chip doesn't provide.  I was thinking of installing it, but if the onboard audio does everything the card would, I'd rather just use the onboard solution.
    Thanks.

Onboard creative is just live24 marketed as Audigy SE
live 24bit is an audigy SE striped down of some features.
