SB USB MP3+ & MediaSource/Rec

I was wondering whether the Sound Blaster USB MP3+ would allow the use of the "What U Hear" recording source under the MediaSource program? Or is "What U Hear" not supported anymore by MediaSource? I know the old Creative Recorder program did.

What U Hear is a feature of the respecti've sound cards. If your sound card supports What U hear, then MediaSource will allow you to select What U Hear as a source for recording.
You should launch either the Creative Surround Mixer or the Microsoft Mixer to see whether What U Hear is available for your sound card. If it is available, then MediaSource should also have What U Hear.

  • Msi usb mp3 player i/o error

i recently connected my megastick usb mp3 player and windows diaplyed a window that says: the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error. Now i can not store files to my usb mp3 player. How do i fix this problem???

An I / O error often indicates a read/write problem to the device, oftern ocours more on Harddisk dri'ves. Upgrading the firmware to the player should sort this out, otherwise there may be someting else wrong with the player. For example the player cannot read/write to a specific cluster on the harddisk. But as the player is PSS (i think), (Portable Solid State) then this is a bit odd, but could possibly be the same problem as above , not read/writeing to a specifc sector/cluster of the memory.

  • How do I monitor my 'line-in' recording with my Sound Blaster USB Mp3

I'm recording tracts of my band from a MD via line in. How do I monitor what's being recorded (in real time)?
    Sound Blaster USB Mp3+
    Thanks,
    Mike

my problem seems similar to prior post.
I have attached Creative USB Sound Blaser MP3+ a.k.a. SB0270 to a Compaq Presario 700 lap top computer via its USB .0 port. I'm running WinXP Home with SR-2 update.
I have found that I CAN record audio using Creative's Wave Studio by first selecting "Line-In" in Microsoft's "Volume Control" software Options/Properties/Recording. "Line-In" then appears as the label on the record level control in Creative's Wave Studio. This was not the intuiti've choice as music fed in through a USB port supposedly uses the SPDIF (Sony Phillips Digital Interface Format). Selecting the SPDIF in Microsoft's "volume control" doesn't work.
However, although I can record the audio, I can not find any way to monitor the level of the audio while recording. When recording using Creative's Wave Studio, an indicator (lower left of screen) shows it is in the recording mode, but the level indicator is a straight line at zero / baseline. Furthermore, the input signal can not of been too small to be seen, because the graph shows nearly full modulation on playback.
How does one monitor the recording level while recording?

  • Newb Questions - USB MP3+ Full Dupl

I have just purchased a USB MP3+ external sound card. I have been told that "all low cost PC sound cards support full duplex" (simultaneous record and play) operation. I would like to confirm this before opening the box. I have downloaded the manual, looked over the online comparison charts and nowhere does it mention whether or not the MP3+ supports this. Does anyone know the answer to this?
    Thanks,
    Wylie

Yes it does full duplex, so you can finally open it after waiting over 3 years.

  • USB MP3 Player (MPman f50)

    Hi all,
I've downloaded a program to upload MP3's to my MpMan f50, called mplinuxman.
However, when I start it up, it says it can't find my USB mpman. Do I have to do something special to get USB working on my system?
This is what dmesg gives my about USB:
    [root@evelien bin]# dmesg | grep -i usb

Aha, I was using 2.6.9 and the USB module wasn't loaded.
Now for another problem, my USB device does not show up in /dev. Altough it's not a problem, I can access my mp3 mplayer fine with mplinuxman, but only as root.

  • Need specifications on External Soundblaster USB MP3+ u

Most importantly i'm interested in what this little silver box has for a signal-to-noise ratio .. secondly, I installed it on my laptop and WinXP detected it and auto-installed it as a "USB Audio Device" and it works great.. thing is, i'd like to take advantage of the EAX functions and other things.. what solitary program do I need from the Creative Support file section that will allow me to adjust the bass, treble, eax, etc. ? Thanks.
    Jay

Just get a /8 to RCA cable for the card and two Mono /4 jacks to RCA adapters for the speakers? If you use the mono jacks the negati've signal will be grounded and shunted with the negati've signal and so it works. Wenn You said the signal was crystal clear ... you actually connected the left to the positi've input and right to the negati've input, unless You used mono jacks and in that case unbalancing was performed, but the right signal was shorted... but the card can handle this short.

  • How do I make bootable USB mp3 player/flash disk?

    hi
i have a big problem. less than a month ago i have backed up my computer using the latest version of Norton ghost v10.0. i then burned the data on to a DVD and i kept it safe. today i encountered a problem i could not cess the internet on my laptop, nor uninstall/install a program, nor get access to help and support. therefore i got the backup DVD inserted it into the DVD drive i opened Norton ghost clicked recovery and then clicked recover my computer. i told it where to look for the backup and then started restore but i then ran into an error message which says the below:
cannot complete the restore of recovery point d:\Toshiba ghost image001.v2i
-Error EC8F178F: Cannot complete the restore of recovery point: D:\Toshiba ghost image001.v2i.
--Error EC8F03F1: Cannot open recovery point 'D:\Toshiba ghost image001.v2i'.
---Error EBAB03E9: Internal Application Error: Memory Access Violation c0000005: Application tried to read memory at 034bac3c.
i have another way of restoring the data this is by making a mp3 player or flash disk boot the computer but on the flash disk there will be the operating system. is there any way to make the flash disk bootable.
i would like to know this because if it boots up from the flash disk or mp3 i can then delete the contents on the HDD and restore the data.
and also when trying to restore it says a file or program is using the file its trying to restore.
    can somebody help,
    regards

    Hello Samee
The best way to boot the unit in DOS mode is to use external floppy drive. This drive is not expensive and if your data are so important you can invest a few euros to buy it. Using start disk you will be able to boot into DOS mode and do what you want to do.
I also recommend you to contact Norton and see if they have some simply solution how to install created image.
With mp3 player you will not be able to boot up.

  • USB Devices

My USB external floppy diskette drive and USB MP3 (not ipod) player no longer mount on my desktop when once they use to. This is also occurring on my iBook.
    Any hints please?

If it were a single device on two computers would suspect the device. If it were two devices on the one computer I'd suspect the computer - but two devices on two computers.... hmmm...
    I would restart both machines.
Have you applied an update 10.4.6 to both Macs and since that time they haven't worked? Can you confirm that other USB devices, your iPod Shuffle, keyboard etc still work fine on both Macs?
Remember it's a user defined preference that external drives mount on the desktop. Are the drives there in a Finder window?

  • Using plain old mp3 player with iTunes on Mac

    Hi all,
I want to use a plain, old USB MP3 player (mass storage-type) with iTunes on my Mac (OS X 10.4.x). I asked this question over on the Windows iTunes forum at
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1264196&tstart=0
and wondered if there's anything that'll work on the Mac.
In Windows, I basically have resorted to drag-n-drop from the iTunes window to a Windows Explorer window showing the USB MP3 player as a removable drive, or to using iTunes Agent (http://ita.sourceforge.net), which is a Windows-only solution.
What's the solution on Mac OS X?
    Thanks,
    Matthew

I think a universal "none" is probably a bit presumptuous. If you're able to get music onto the player in Windows via drag and drop, I see no reason why that won't work on the Mac as well, provided that your Mac can recognize the drive. I would imagine it can, as I've never come across a PC formatted drive that my Mac didn't recognize.
There is also a freeware application called XNJB that apparently works as an interface between a Mac and a Creative MP3 player. I haven't used either, so can't vouch for them at all.
Just that like I said, a universal "none" is probably a bit presumptuous.

  • PowerMac 7600 and PCI USB 2 Card

About a year ago I upgraded my daughter's PowerMac 7600 with 512 of RAM and Sonnet Crescendo G4 1GHz Card. Using XPostFacto 4 I installed MacOS X Tiger. After resolving a few issues it's been a year of nice performance for this machine (with zero manteinance). So I decided to fully upgrade it with another 512 of RAM, add an ATI PCI 7000 Radeon and a PCI Firewire/USB 2 Tango Card. The Hard Drive is a 60GB Maxtor with two partitions: One for Mac OS 9.1 and the other for Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11.
After the upgrade I've noticed that when connecting devices to the USB ports under Mac OS X Tiger the Finder tends to freeze and even the whole System so I have to force restart. When using the USB ports under Mac OS 9.1 it works fine.
I've used a generic USB MP3 player (DOS formatted), an Apollo imation USB Drive (Mac formatted) and a USB Flash Wristband (Mac formatted).
The machine configuration is as follows:
PowerMac 7600 with Sonnett Crescendo G4 1GHz Card
8 128 MB RAM Modules for 1GB of Memory (All from OWC, same specs)
Sonnet Tempo Ultra ATA 66 PCI Card
    ATI Radeon 7000 PCI Card
Sonnet Tango Firewire/USB 2 PCI Card
    Maxtor 60GB IDE Hard Drive
    LaCie CDRW IDE Drive
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks for all your help!

The specs on the PCI card state:
    Mac Compatibility
Power Mac® G3 (Blue & White)(2) and Power Mac G4 (with PCI slots)
Power Mac G5 (with PCI or PCI-X slots)
    Mac OS® X Version 10.5.2+, 10.4(3), or 10.3(3)
Mac OS 9 (at USB 1.1 speed)
However, just because older PM 7600s are not listed, it appears to be hardware compatible. It could be something related to the fact that you used XPostFacto to run OS 10.4. Many older PMs could only use 2-port USB PCI cards. On my old PM 6500, I used a Belkin model F5U005 2-port USB PCI card. I don't know if this card would provide USB 2.0 when running 10.4.

  • [Solved] Automount Generic MP3 Player with UTF-8 encoding

    Hello, everybody!
    Ubuntu refugee here.
So far I'm going fine with Arch, I just have a couple of problems related to my Generic USB Mp3 player:
    1) I want HAL to mount the player with UTF-8 encoding. Right now, it shows Arabic characters as ??????.
    2) In Ubuntu, it used to recognize the player as an MP3 player, give it a nice icon, and add it as a music source in Rhythmbox. In Arch, on the other hand, the player is mounted as a generic USB flash drive. How can I make Arch recognize it as an MP3 player?
    Thanks in advance.

    GOT IT WORKING!! Yay!
I got the solution from here:
    http://blog.pcode.nl/2006/08/24/introdu … io-player/
The trick is to make HAL identify your Digital Audio Player (DAP) by adding a rule to /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/10-usb-music-players.fdi  --  and since, in my case, Ubuntu already had a 10-usb-music-players.fdi file that recognized my player, all I had to do was boot up from an Ubuntu live cd and copy Ubuntu's 10-usb-music-players.fdi over Arch's.

  • Mount USB stick manually

    Hi there!
I'm new to Darwin and I'm wondering how to mount a USB flash drive manually. Actually I got the problem that my USB MP3 Player (Fat32 formatted) is being mounted read-only. So I'm looking for the device which has to be mounted. Something like this:
mount -t vfat /dev/DEVICE /mnt/usbdevice -o uid=1000 (how do I get the UID in darwin?)
I tried to get the 'DEVICE' info from /etc/fstab.hd (which should be the same as /etc/fstab in linux ?) when it's mounted automaticly but no success here (it says: 'IGNORE THIS FILE').
That brings me to my second question: Where can I find all mounted devices listed like it's in fstab in other UNIX systems?
I hope that's not to much asking
    greetings

Open Disk utility located in Applications/Utilities. Disk Utility can mount/unmount and eject external media, (and do a lot more).
