SBH-80 Voice Activated Dialling?

Hi
Was looking to buy this headset but can find nothing on VAD support. Does anyone know if this headset support's it? If so how do you initiate a call, as it says nothing in the manual.
Thanks.

  • Is voice activated dialling possible from a cark 9...

Apologies if this is really a dumb question.
Having used a Nokia bluetooth headset for years with my Nokia 6310i, and using voice activated dialling from the headset, I've finally had a cark 91 car kit installed in my car. Can I use voice activated dialling? I have them set up on phone but can't work out how to use them when the phone is in the cark 91 cradle. With the headset you had to push the button and speak after the tone, hence confusion now I haven't the headset and a button to push.
    Thanks, Sue4089

I tried both methods and, actually both were really easy to do . When I added the DV-AVI file to the timeline and used the Motion properties to scale to 133% (constrained--so both height and width were enlarged), I lost the text I had in the title slide. Then I checked the photos--heads were cut off and on captions under the photos, the last line was missing. (I had enlarged the canvas in PSE and added text.)  I tried reducing the scaling to about 80% which would maintain the captions, which may work--though I have black bars, but I sure had black bars in widescreen too--especially on the vertical photos.
My test may not be accurate since I don't have a 4:3 TV set any more. I tried the Sidebar setting on my widescreen TV. It may work better on a 4:3 set--I'll try that on someone else's set tomorrow. I had also put text on some photos and each line on the right side was cut off too.  Without thinking I tried to edit it and move it--of course I couldn't because it was "fixed" in the avi file. That's the reason I had asked about editing the prel so I could start the 4:3 project and use everything I had already done in the 16:9 project and everything would still be editable. The draw back on scaling with that method is I have to do each photo individually unless there is a way to batch scale. Is there?
I am going to have to do more experimenting and viewing on a 4:3 set to decide which way works best for me.
Thank you so much for your suggested solutions

  • N900 - Voice activated dialling

For a device of this cost and complexity for voice activated dialling to be absent is a shocking omission.
Has anyone writen an app for this?
I for one would pay, if necessary - although to be honest Nokia should be ashamewd of themselves for releasing a 'phone without this function.

I agree this is an issue.
I use a Bluetooth car kit and because of this I cannot use voice dialling.
I do hope Nokia or a dev can solve this issue esp in todays society where it is illegal to use your phone whilst driving.....

  • 6233 voice activated dialling feature. TERRIBLE!!!

For the last 30 mins I have been trying to find a way of recording my own voice tags for voice activated-calling on my 6233. What a waste of time. I think it is ridiculous that Nokia has not included this feature and according to the previous posts they are not going to put it into an firmware updates. I still have my Nokia 6230i which I think I will start using again. There are things I like about the 6233 but there are to many glitches, also the font for the time whilst in stand-by mode not only looks terrible but is hard to read. What are the people at Nokia thinking? They have put a load of junk on to the 6233 and not put the useful stuff that was on the 6230i on it. I've used Nokias for 8 years and I am now seriously considering getting a Sony Ericsson next time I can get an upgrade. WISE UP NOKIA!!

The new voice recognition that appears in almost all of Nokia's latest products does have built-in training, called adaptation, which means over time and with use the accuracy should increase.
The trouble with speaker independent voice recognition is that for some people, the accuracy is good enough from the outset, but for others it is not. This is why adaptation is included in the Nokia version to help improve the accuracy - but it is hidden from the menus.
You can test this adaptation by using the voice dialler and if it gets the name or command correct, select that name or command. This tells the voice recognition to adapt to your voice. If you don't select, then it won't adapt.
If this is repeated for several names or commands, then the accuracy should start to improve.
Another problem is that sometimes people have strange names in the phonebook that can sometimes spoof the voice recognition - it is worth listening to any strange phonebook names using the "playback voice tag" just to make sure.

that's alot to do especially when you don't have lots of time on your hands. its kind of ridiculous IMO. if it wasn't like that then names wouldn't make a difference whether its french or spanish or transfered from your sim, that's the names that confuses the voice dialler and causes it to come back empty, with the wrong name or a list of names. a headache while driving.
    everything happens for a reason

  • Nokia 6301 and BT headset voice activated dialling

    Hi
I have just upgraded to a 6301 and have a Jabra BT250V headset. Previously I had a Nokia 6230i and by using the button on the headset I could make the phone give me the "Speak now" prompt to do voice dialing and end the call - all from the headset. With the new phone I can pair it but no control of the phone. Phone guide says press and hold right selection or down volume key to kick of the "Speak now". I'd like to control it from the headset. According to the Jabra website the BT250V is fully compatible with this phone.
Any ideas on settings on the phone to get this to work or a Bluetooth headset that does do this?
    Thanks
    Mart

There are chances that the headset is not fully compatible with the 6301 phone.
Though its shown on the Jabra website, have they tested it?
Compatibility must have yielded mixed results.
Incompatibility has been confirmed by test or other evidence. Initially, compatibility may have been considered possible.
Test has yielded critical failures. Incompatibility not confirmed yet (possibly: fixes/retesting expected)

  • X3 - 02: Voice activation

Just acquired the X3.  Have been used to making a call by use of Bluetooth headset by pressing a button and saying the name of the person I want to call.  The old method does not work on this model.  Do I have to do something to set up voice activated dialling?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

In case anyone thinks of researching this - don't bother.
I have now discovered that this phone does not support voice activated dialling.  (Yes - in 2010 this basic Bluetooth function is not provided.)  This information has come from a specialist at Nokia , who himself expressed amazement that this is the situation.  None of the Sales staff at the shop I bought the phone were aware of this - but they are now, and intend not to push this to other unsuspecting customers.
In short - if you need to use your phone whilst driving, this is not the model for you.

  • How do I unlock voice activation on iphone

How do I unlock voice activation on iPhone 4

Hi Kilted Tim, thank you for your quick response.
Yup, I've had the unlimited plan for about 4-5 years, and I do everything I can to keep from losing it, for obvious reasons.
As you advise, I've been using the iphone in airplane mode with wifi activated which works fine when I am in wifi range. But of course when I'm out and about I want to use my data roaming for internet, maps, skype, whatever so I take it out of airplane mode.
The trouble is that I get incoming calls and am charged international rates even when I dont answer. I havent looked lately but I think AT&T charges me for one minute even for unanswered incoming calls.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks!

  • HT1438 i keep getting SIM locked message on my iphone 4s and I need to unlock it please please can someone help me? The voice activation is on and when I type in what I think is the code It wont even put in the numbers

I am trying to unlock my SIM from my iphone 4s, as I am getting a mesage SIM locked. How do I unlock this? Also I am typing in what I think my code is and it is not working. The voice activation wil not allow me to type in the numbers for some reason. I have turned it off and on about 7 times now. please please please can someone help me?

If you bought the iphone in the US and it is locked to a specific carrier, then you can't use a different sim (from another carrier).  Is this your situation?
Otherwise I'm not sure what you mean by "trying to unlock my SIM".  In which country did you buy the iphone?  Who's your carrier?

I tried this setup, Jeff... gets me to the login page fine... but doesn't seem to recognize any of my email logins (all which are virtual).
I have a website setup as MAIL.MYDOMAIN.COM... port 80...performance cache OFF... and pointing to /usr/share/squirrelmail. I tried these settings with OPTIONS-->WebMail both checked and unchecked. Doesn't seem to make any difference.
So, does the problem have to do with the fact that I have Mailstore partitions setup by domain, as per Alex's guide to Making Virtual Users?
As Alex mentioned, turn off the performance cache.
You can change the port in ServerAdmin to something
else (you mentioned 8010, which is fine).
You may need to create a seperate Site for Webmail if
    you don't have one already.
To take this a step further....
My preferred (non-SSL) setup is this:
    - Assuming you already have DNS of mail.domain.com
    - Create a site for mail.domain.com (port 80)
    - In Sites/General, port 80
    - In Sites/General Web Folder
    "/usr/share/squirrelmail"
    - In Sites/Options, turn off Perf Cache.
If you do the above, when you hit
    http://mail.domain.com
You will go straight to Squirrelmail without having
to add a /webmail to your url and without having to
    use a different port #.

  • Current Android 2.1 OS Not Compatible with Bluetooth Voice Activation

After spending two frustrating days trying to make Bluetooth Voice Activation work with the HTC Incredible Android, I found out from HTC technical support that the Android 2.1 OS is not compatible with Bluetooth Voice Activation.  Supposedly changes to the operating system will correct the problem, but you're out of luck until then.....whenever 'then' is!  It appears that Verizon and HTC  have not choosen to include that information in their marketing material.  A bit irresponsible, especially if you live in a state that requires handsfree operation of your phone in an automobile.

It seems that Moto has a workaround in 2.1 on the Droid X:
I was just at VZW store this morning looking at the Droid X (which is currently at 2.1), and specifically asked an employee about this and he showed that it's solved on the Droid X -- he paired his bluetooth and demo'd handsfree dialing it for me.
Unfortunately, the Droid X is probably too large for me or my wife and the Droid Incredible doesn't have a solution for bluetooth handsfree dialing (yet).

  • Using voice activation commands for Illustrator

I was searching this forum to see if you can scroll (zoom) with the mouse wheel. I found a couple of short cuts that accomplishes the task (but not as easy as PS CS3 does).
In PS CS3, I created a whole bunch of Dragon Naturally Speaking commands which, in effect, allowed me to speak the various PS commands (as opposed to clicking, dragging etc) with eh mouse and Wacom Pen.
WITHOUT A DOUBT, this is the way to fly in PS. Speaking commands and having the program perform the function allows you to concentrate on the creation as opposed to what tool and when etc.
Just being able (using the scrolling wheel example), to say "zoom" or "zoom out" instead of looking for the zoom icon clicking it and then clicking the work area helps tremendously.
So, while looking for a way to Scroll in Illustrator, I got to thinking I will do the same thing for this application.
Therefore, I was wondering if anyone had done the same thing here in Illustrator.
I also posted this in the Windows forum.
    Anyway, just wondering.
    Bob

    Hi Jean,
first, I had to let you know, and I am by no means connected in any form shape or manner with Dragon Naturally Speaking software.
Second, I am actually dictating this message to you utilizing this voice activation software. I have been utilizing the Dragon for many years and this particular version happens to be one of the best that they have ever marketed.
To give you an idea of the different commands that I utilized when creating very simple voice commands in the Dragon, here are some of the commands I created:
Adjust color, adjust contrast, adjust curves, adjust hue saturation, adjust levels, auto color, (for the brushes if I wanted to increase them, bigger 1 bigger 2, bigger 5, bigger 7 (as you can see, it would increase the size of the brush dependent upon the number that followed the word bigger)), clone, copy, copy layer, crop, curves, cut, delete layer, deselect, duplicate layer, feather, erasure, eyedropper, etc., etc., etc)
Once again, I am dictating this message and not typing it.
Hopefully you can see we have a mouse in your hand, or a pen tablet and you are looking at the screen and reciting commands, and not having to look at the keyboard or the mouse or the walkom pen or what ever, and when you speak a command the application does exactly what you want, this allows you to concentrate on what you are trying to create as opposed to how to create it!
This is the major differentiator between working manually (and trust me the pros on this forum can work very very fast manually), and working allowing your creativity to come to the front as opposed to your technical specific knowledge of the application and how to maneuver it.
Anyway, I come out of many many years of information technology and this is probably one of the best combinations of applications that increases the efficiency of the individual working with said applications.
I probably should go back and correct any recognition errors that the Dragon might have made (which were probably made because of my poor pronunciation were slurring of words), but I would rather not.
It would be better for you to see (and I guess the other members of the form to see) the voice activation software can do for you.
In closing, and once again I have to stress I am in no way affiliated with the Dragon, combining these two applications increases your productivity tenfold.
Good luck, and I hope you shoulder feels better.
    Bob
ps., ok so i lied, I corrected 5 small errors the Dragon made.... but you would have understood what I was trying to say anyway....
