SBS 2008 Email Usage Reports

Hi guys,
I am having an issue with the Email Usage Reports. The sent, and received number of emails are blank (all zeros). However, further down the report it shows the storage and quotas for each mailbox. Does anyone have any advice? Just to add, all other reports
are fine, just the first section of the email report.
Thanks
Aaron

Hi:
I think the first thing I would try is to run through the wizard and set to no reports.  That should clear the settings.  It might also reset the base numbers for size of free space and so on so you don' have continuous history, but I think I could
live with that.  Then run through the wiz again and spec what you want.
If that does not work, then perhaps:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd560614(v=WS.10).aspx
or, internet search on "repair sbs monitoring" or "repair sbsmonitoring".  Too many results to list them all here.

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 Disk Usage report showing incorrect data file

    When I go to ANY database (System, AdventureWorks*, user) in Managemant Studio, I right-click on the db, select Reports, select Standard Reports, and select Disk Usage.  The disk usage report shows the correct db on top, but always only shows AdventureWorks_Data.mdf
    when I expand Disk Space Used by Data Files section.  This happens to any db I try.  When I look at Database Properties/Files for that database, the logical and physical file names are correct.
    Since the correct files appear in Database Properties/Files, I'm hoping it's just a bug in the report.  Same thing happens if I run a Disk Usage by Table report for ANY database,  The tables for AdventureWorks always only appear,
    Thanks,  Mike

    Thanks Tibor!
    I looked at the Properties for my login under Security/Logins and it shows my default db to be master.  Not sure if this is correct, but it sounds plausible.  I'll see if I can report the problem.
    The only issue I can think of that was out of the ordinary for the install of 2008 R2 EE was this:
    I originally installed 2005 DE, since it wouldn't expire.  After the install of 2005 DE, I decided to uninstall it and install 2008 R2 EE.  In between the installs of 2005 DE and 2008 R2 EE, I installed/uninstalled stupid stuff like 2008
    Express, 2008 Express with Advanced Services (?), and 2008 EE.  After each uninstall I also did a system restore to be safe.
    Now each time I open Management Studio, i get a pop-up stating that there are SQL Server 2005 registered servers on my sytem and asks me if I want to add them into Management Studio.  I always say no.
    The AdventureWorks db is from 2005 and was installed automatically with 2005.  I installed the 2005, 2008, and 2008 R2 AdventureWorks databases to my R2 for class.  I'm not sure now if the Disk Usage report is showing me AdventureWorks_Data.mdf
    because of my install into 2008 R2 EE or my previous install of 2005 DE.
    Hope this kind of makes sense...

  • Windows SBS 2008 Deployment Report for Updates in SBS Console Is Empty

    The SBS Console on my Windows SBS 2008 is able to report updates which are available for deployment, and it also is aware of the number of computers which are affected by the update in the Security>Updates summary page in the SBS console. However, if
    I select an update and click "View the update deployment report," there are no computers listed.
    I have gone through the steps outlined in these posts:
    Repair monitoring and reporting features in Windows Small Business Server 2008
    SBS2008: Windows SBS Console may crash because of incorrect Environment Variables
    My variables read read TEMP=C:\user\me\appdata\local\temp\1 and TEM=C:\user\me\appdata\local\temp\1  from the command line, but in the Environment Variables window, they both read as C:\user\me\appdata\local\temp\
    SBS 2008 Console May Take Too Long to Display Alerts and Security Statuses, Display Not Available, or Crash
    (I was unable to run this from the command line, even though I was running the command as administrator, and had remote connections allowed. I ended up running this command in the SQL management studio.)
    Repair Windows Update Services
    I am sorry for the missing hyperlinks, but I am not allowed to post them until my account has been verified. Searching for the article titles in bold will take you to the referenced page. I thought it would be helpful to mention the steps I have tried to take
    before taking to the forums with my problems.
    Any ideas? Does this need any clarification?

    I did take a look at the console. When I refresh the list under the Updates
    tab in the Security ribbon, I get multiple lines of:
    [11340] 140114.090516.2325: Update Services: GetConfiguration: level Medium is read from config file C:\Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\Data\sbsconfig.xml
    [16772] 140114.090535.4166: Update Services: GetConfiguration: level High is read from config file C:\Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\Data\sbsconfig.xml
    Then, every time I try to view the computers to which a particular update apply, the console throws these lines into the Console.log:
    [8416] 140114.090659.3547: AdminTME: Committer: RunAsync TaskViewDeploymentReport

    [8416] 140114.090700.5420: AdminTME: Committer: Committer Completed.
    Now that I have been verified, I can include this screenshot, where you can see that I am expecting 4 computers to be listed in the pop-up window:
    Any additional thoughts? In the meantime, I will be doing some searching on the new adminTME lines.

  • SBS 2008 and Exchange 2007 intermittent Email Issues

    Hello
    I am having an issue with my SBS 2008 Server and Exchange 2007.  After setup, the mail seems to work great for about a week, then the mail just quits working.  To get it working again, all I have to do is reboot the server and mail starts working
    again.  When looking in the event logs, all I come across is transport.exe errors.  Any ideas on why it works for 5-10 days, then just quits working?  Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

  • How can I edit the way autodiscover.xml behaves in SBS 2008 and 2011?

    I have autodiscover working correctly on a few SBS 2008 and SBS 2011 servers. But, its doing its usual misbehaving. When setting up a new Outlook profile, the user enters their email address and password.  Autodiscover is successful in creating all
    the account settings, but at the end of the wizard a username and password window pops up with the users full email address incorrectly filled in as the username, which is why it didn't work.
    This has always been so annoying about SBS.  The user then has to be told to delete their email address in the username field, then fill in "domain\username" instead.  Only then is the authentication successful.
    I've read lots about people adding the external domain UPN Suffix to ADD&T, then manually changing ever users login to domain.com instead of domain.local.   Then you have to mess with the owa authentication settings in exchange to accept the
    UPN.   Its all too ridiculous.  There must be a simpler way.
    I have read about how you can control how the autodiscover.xml behaves, and there are examples of how to do it in this document:
    https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:0jap1FNKgV0J:https://support.quest.com/Shared/Images/SOL51188_Outlook%2520Automatic%2520Account%2520Configuration.doc+&hl=pl&gl=pl&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESjizUeFf-JYaM7ZdfIgUCKMMXtcCl0Y3pknFbuwd64GNHIEP1K8a_mpg2YIEisP6sz5DzbtVtdW4Pc42PE0Kjd6bz-3vXz0iaQm7FKi0AnwgvFG_41ZAkBLWynaJtf8s8xyi_d2&sig=AHIEtbSie1mEHTn8el4DPquNxrpovwknUQ
    The document above shows the settings we need to change.  It looks like we can add the local domain using DomainName into the autodiscover.xml and this will stop autodiscover reporting that the full email address is required.  So we
    should be able to get autodiscover to populate the username pop-up with with "domain\user" automatically.
    OK, so my question is, how on earth do I edit these settings in SBS 2011?  I can't find any articles that talk about how to edit autodiscover.
    If I could just edit this one setting (that Microsoft should have correctly configured in the first place) autodiscover will work perfectly for all existing users and all future users, without having to do anything.

    Just to straighten out a few things;
    1) This is NOT a bug, rather by design. Not every active directory has an exchange server in place, and MS is assuming you don't want to give your internal domain name out to people (which is why it doesn't default to domain\username)
    2) Going on what I said in 1), this is NOT SBS specific this is the same way with every Active Directory/Exchange install, keep in mind Microsoft did NOT specially design the software for SBS, they just bundled it into a supported configuration in a neat
    little package -since the Exchange server we run on SBS is the same Exchange server powering hundreds of hosted email providers -it makes sense why autodiscover doesn't provide the domain\username (imagine what a mess that would be!)
    3) I understand it's a little bit time consuming but it can actually be done for all users in a matter of seconds, select all users, right click and go to Properties, you can then choose the UPN Suffix for all users. When a new user gets created one of the
    settings in the wizard is the UPN suffix and is easily changeable as long as you notate for the person creating the user to do it. (The problem here is if you're using the SBS Console instead of AD to setup the User in which case that's just an oversight
    in design not a bug in the programming)
    4) You can most certainly have a powershell script that changes the UPN suffix from A to B, let me know if you're interested I'll dig one up for you. That can be run on a scheduled task and will solve the remaining issues you have :)
    I do see you mentioned it in number 3, I must have missed since I didn't re-read the OP before posting the article, however I just tested on several SBS 2011 machines and OWA authentication settings don't have to be changed at all, this worked immediately
    for Outlook Anywhere and Outlook Web Access in my lab and two different customer production systems.

  • SBS 2008 & Forefront Exchange 2010

    Uninstalled the Forefront for Exchange that ships with SBS 2008 and installed the new Forefront 2010 for Exchange.  Everything works great but I have a problem with the SBS Console alert.  In Forefront Exchange 2010, the Forefront engine takes over the anti-SPAM function from Exchange and that is a good thing, but now the inherent SBS 2008 console has an error message under SECURITY for "Spam protection for E-Mail" as CRITICAL.  I know what the problem is but I do not know how to disable the alert.  Now that Excahnge is no longer handling anti-SPAM, the SBS server sees the function inactive and issues an alert sice it is unaware that that role is now filled by the Forefront 2010 anti-spam engine.  Is there a method do disable the SBS Consoel alert on the SECURITY tab?  Everything is working great with Forefront Exchange 2010 on SBS 2008 other than this little alert that is bugging me.
    Thanks to anyone out there that has any insight on this...

    GaryD9, on this thread:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/smallbusinessserver/thread/67eea70a-5ed8-49ae-ba06-6abb2673f38e
    posted a detailed answer which worked for me, as far as the Console alert goes. It doesn't fix the emailed reports. I'll copy it here incase that thread becomes unavailable:
    the CAUSE of the error is that the MS Exchange "content filter" is turned off in favor of the forefront content filter when forefront is installed.  The SBS console is still looking at the Exchange filter status (which is now off) and is generating an
    error.  On my SBS 2011 server, the cause of this is a file named "E12AntiSpam.xml" in the "C:\Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\Data\SHExtensions" directory.  Within that file, there is probably a line such as
    $(Get-TransportAgent "Content Filter Agent").Enabled
    The fix can be as simple as changing the line to:
    $(Get-TransportAgent "FSE Content Filter Agent").Enabled
    (just inserting "FSE " in the front of the agent name)
     It should be noted that you can't edit this file unless you open it from Notepad after right clicking
    on the shortcut for Notepad and selecting "Run as Administrator". Also, you won't see any changes until you close and re-open the Windows SBS Console.
    I'm a little concerned that removing the FSE.XML file (as proposed on the SBS forum) may stop ALL error
    reporting rather than just changing the source from the regular content filter to the Forefront version. This solution of editing the E12AntiSpam.XML file seems a safer bet.

    Unfortunately, Error 0xE0000235 occurs when trying to download a driver onto Windows SBS 2008 64-bit Standard FE.
    I am installing the GV 800 GeoVision 32/64Bit 16CH Video Capture Card onto the server.
    Please urgently assist.
    Answer in clear English. Cryptic answers not welcome. Yes...I know you are an intelligent, highly valuable expert on the world's leading edge technology.

    Hi, I'd like to inform you that the error code 0xE0000235 refers to "Error in WOW64". This can be caused by corrupted or incompatible driver of the Video Capture Card. Similar issue may also occur on other driver on other operating system and I don't think
    this can be caused by SBS2008 blocking the driver.
    I suggest you contact with GeoVision Technical Support (http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/4_0.asp) and see if their driver should work on SBS2008 and make sure that you have downloaded
    latest driver from their site:

    We never received a usage report for the week of 2007-04-08. I checked our site preferences and the email address was not been changed. Did this report not get sent out or did we (odu.edu) just not receive it?

    Sorry for the delay, but we have identified the issue with this week's report and have began sending them out to site admins this afternoon. Please check your inbox in an hour or so.

  • SBS 2008 - SBS Console and AD errors after migration to new hardware

    Hi there,
    I'm trying to work out how to fix some of the errors and random behaviour I'm experiencing with the SBS 2008 console and AD related matters since I had to quickly migrate SBS 2008 to new hardware using Windows Server Backup after a failure of the old server.
    In my haste to get our email and ftp services back up and running (which use Smartermail and Filezilla respectively instead of Exchange etc) I overlooked the fact that the new server had 3 NICs installed and not one and so restored SBS 2008 and loaded up new
    drivers for those and other hardware that had changed (such as the graphics card and mobo. I have since removed the two additional NICs by disabling them on the mobo).
    Whilst I got the server up and running again with email and ftp services, even though I currently don't use any AD related stuff directly I have since noted that if I try to say view a list of users that I had previously created via the SBS console, more often
    than not it will show no users, and then randomly it will (but when you do see them you can't edit or delete them. I'm aware that I have probably broken a number of golden rules in doing this 'migration' but having a metaphorical gun to my head meant that
    I rushed things out of desperation.
    Common errors that I experience generally will say things like 'Current security connect is not associated with an Active Directory domain or forest' if I try to list users, or DC not found for domain "xyz.local' etc. I have been searching the net and
    trying out some things to fix this but I'm like a dog chasing its tail as I'm not so clued up on server related issues as I am with workstation problems, so if anyone could at least point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. If you require any
    info from me (eg diag logs etc) I will be happy to provide them!
    Regards,
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
    Based on current situation, please run SBS BPA and fix all that it can find, then monitor the result. For more details, please refer to the following KB.
    Windows SBS Best Practices Analyzer (BPA)
    Meanwhile, please refer to the following article and repair SBS console.
    Repair the Windows SBS 2008 Console
    By the way, I noticed that you had got some error messages (such as: “DC not found for domain” and so on). Would you please let me know complete error messages? In addition, when you migrate SBS 2008 to the new hardware, had you done any preparation for
    that Source Server? For more details, please refer to the following article.
    Migrate Windows Small Business Server 2008 to New Hardware
    If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.

  • Emailing Crystal Report in email body as HTML

    I'm having a problem sending emails in CR 2008 when the report is displayed as HTML in the body of the email.
    This code works in my development environment but it doesn't work in the testing environment when CR 2008 is installed using a .msi with CR merge modules:
    ExportOptions crExportOptions = new ExportOptions();
    crExportOptions.ExportDestinationType = ExportDestinationType.DiskFile;
    crExportOptions.ExportFormatType = ExportFormatType.HTML40;
    HTMLFormatOptions htmlOpts = ExportOptions.CreateHTMLFormatOptions();
    htmlOpts.HTMLBaseFolderName = tempPath;
    htmlOpts.HTMLFileName = fileName;
    htmlOpts.HTMLEnableSeparatedPages = false;
    htmlOpts.HTMLHasPageNavigator = false;
    htmlOpts.UsePageRange = false;
    crExportOptions.ExportFormatOptions = htmlOpts;
    _reportDocument.Export(crExportOptions);
    using (StreamReader r = File.OpenText(tempPath + "\\" + Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(_template.TemplateName) + "\\" + fileName))
         html = r.ReadToEnd();
    When _reportDocument.Export(crExportOptions) is called this error is thrown:
    Invalid export options.
    I'm I doing something wrong with code, or do I need to do change something in my testing environment to get this to work?
    Testing Environment:
    Windows 2003 Server
    2008 CR SP1 Merge Modules
    .Net 3.5 SP1
    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

    Since it works on your dev system then it is likely not a code issue. I suspect there is a runtime file difference between your dev and staging system. Use [Modules|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip] to see if you can spot the difference. You'll need to run this on both systems while your app is running.
    On your dev system, go through the procedure of exporting and emailing your report. Then run modules while the app is still running.
    On your staging system, go through the same procedure until you get the error. Leave the error on the screen and run modules.
    Finally, compare the two mdl log files using modules differences feature.

  • SBS 2008 - 'Sites' Certificate Expired - How to find out where/service it's used - if at all

    Greetings,
    Is there a way to see what options or services might be using the default sites certificate on our sbs 2008 server?
    PowerShell or Certificates MMC add-in?
    We have a Go Daddy for email and remote - so I'm thinking this self-signed- expired certificate can be deleted.
    Thank you
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    As far as I know, we could only use Certificates console check the certificates for the logged on user, for the specific service account and for the specific computer account. It’s hard to
    verify which option needs a specific certificate.
    For details about Certificates Console, please refer to the following article.

  • Render and Email SSRS reports via SOAP/Web Services

    Hi all
    Running SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM and wondering if the ReportExecution2005.asmx web service can be used to render AND email a report all within the web service (ie. Not wanting to render the report and then having to email it manually). Since RS has the capability
    to email via report manager schedule, wondering if this can be achieved programmatically.
    George

    Hi George,
    In Reporting Services, it supports us to use ReportExecution2005 web service to render a report as MHTML or other formats. And we can use ReportingService2010 web service to subscribe and delivery report. The Reporting Services Execution
    Web service allows developers to programmatically process and render reports from a report server.
    The ReportingService2010 Web service allows developers to programmatically create a subscription in the report server database.
    To process a specific report and render it in the specified format, we can use the “Render” method in the ReportExecutionService. To create a subscription, we can use “CreateSubscription” method in ReportingService2010.

    I have replace those folders, form an sbs server with the same OS where the console still works:
    C:\Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\bin
    C:\Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\Data
    I think these services are related to WSUS and WSUS is related tot SBS Console. Do i have to re-install WSUS? reinstallation of WSUS on a SBS server, I think that is very risky. What do you think?
