SBS2011 - odd behaviour - IIS / WAS crashed

Hi,
This night, on a customer's SBS2011 server, WAS reported an event 5080, where was mentioned that the SBS SharePoint appPool will be recycled due to 1 or more config changes. The config file involved was corrupted (eventID 5189)
After that i see a waring (I don't know if it is related) of Kernel-Tm, eventID 1:
The Transaction (UOW={bfbaf6f6-30c3-11e3-9bd7-001e67861381}, Description='') was unable to be committed, and instead rolled back; this was due to an error message returned by CLFS while attempting to write a Prepare or Commit record for the Transaction.
The CLFS error returned was: 0xc01a002f.
Then things went fast:
WAS 5189:
The Windows Process Activation Service failed to generate an application pool config file for application pool '*'. The error type is '0'. To resolve this issue, please ensure that the applicationhost.config file is correct and recommit the last configuration
changes made. The data field contains the error number.
and a few others that mention cannot initialize and start (5036 and 5005)
After that IIS crashes and could not be started again. Even after restoring the SharePoint App Pool's original config file from the backup
Now I read in several forums that in this cases IIS needs to be reinstalled. But his is an SBS2011, which is pretty much preconfigured by windows itself. Is there a good procedure of what I should do?
Or are there other better ways that I did not see?
And of coarse: I didn't see this happen on SBS2011 servers before.... what is this??? A possible hack?
Greetings,
Alexander

Later, after business hours I could do a reboot.
Fortunately, that resolved the problems :-)
Still I hope that someone knows a way to solve such issues without having tot reboot the SBS ...

  • Crxf_pdf.dll appears to cause IIS to crash

When exporting crystal reports to pdf  from a web based application using Crystal 2008, the crxf_pdf.dll causes IIS to crash.  This happens about once every five times with a particular large report.  But it has happened with small reports on occassion as well.  We have seen this on several windows 2008 server boxes (IIS7)hosting our website which allows this type of export .  Below is the error...

This looks like  a non issue.  Here is what I did to reproduce the issue:  1)I setup a separate website on my server that contained one page that simply exported a pdf report with a press of a button.  I brought up two browsers, logged in anonymously to that site.  I started the the exports at roughly the same time.  The report I created listed several fields out of the db table and would run for about one minute.   For the setup described above the reports both finished processing at just about the same time.  I tried the same using windows authentication and had the same results.   2) I moved the single web page to my main website,  then opened two browsers to the site logged in as my windows user.  While my report was exporting in one browser, I could not get to the database  with the other browser.  Once the report finished, the second browser came up with data immediately.3) I changed the test web page by removing the report export code and adding code to bring back the same records into a dataset.  I was able to duplicate the problem this way as well.  This took Crystal out of the picture. 4) I created a new windows user on my server and set it up in the development database.  I opened one browser with my login and a second browser with the new login.  While loading the dataset with the first browser, I did not have any problem accessing the database table with the browser connected as the new user. 5) Finally, I decided to try using the second browser from a remote location.  This time  I logged both browsers in as my user, but one browser was on a different client.  While loading the dataset with one browser the other browser did not have a problem accessing the Account Detail.  6) It appears that when working on a single box with mulitiple browsers logged in as the same user, IIS(?) limits the amount of access as if there was only one instance.  So far, I have found no documentation for this, but will include it when I do.
As it stands this does not appear to be a critical issue since it only limits a single user on a single box and does not limit multiple users logged in with Anonymous (for example) from many different boxes.

  • Podcast exhibiting odd behaviour with bluetooth

Ever since updating to iOS6 / iPhone 5 i've been experiencing odd behaviour with music playback. Now that the Podcasts app is a requirement, i'm not sure if this is directly related to the Podcasts app or if it's an iOS 6 quirk.
My iPhone connects to my car's stereo head unit via bluetooth. When i start my car it automatically connects and music, phone calls, etc, are all forwarded to my car's speakers. When i would switch my car off, music would stop automatically and i'd get out of my car and go about my day.
Everything worked absolutely perfectly in iOS 5 with the 4S.
The issue now with iOS6/iP5 is that when i switch off my car and use Siri or make a phone call, after i stop using Siri or if i end my call, the Podcasts app automatically resumes playback of what ever i was listening to when i switched my car off... Essentially it blasts music at me through the internal iPhone speaker for absolutely no reason.
Here is a step by step,
    1. Start car
    2. Play music
    3. Turn off car
    4. Music automatically stops
    5. (while at the office, away from my car) Use siri or make a phone call
    6. When i end the call or stop using Siri, music automatically resumes via the iPhone internal speaker
Is there any way to fix this?? It's getting quite annoying to have my iPhone blast me with music in fairly inappropriate situations.

Disregard, there is a thread about it here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4346946?tstart=0
Can't see any way of deleting my thread unfortunately.

  • WebDav: some odd behaviour

I followed the tutorial at Tiger Vittles to set up one of my OS X machines to run as a webdav server. It went smoothly, and was easier than I expected, given I am not a pro or anything when it comes to computers. The amazing thing is it works. I can connect my PowerBook to it both on the local network and via the internet. The un-amazing thing, and probably expected (knowing me) is that it does not work as expected when connecting a Windows XP machine. It connects, mounts as a webfolder in Window's Network Places, however this is where the odd behaviour begins. Inside of the folder, along with the expected contents of that folder, there is a folder by the same name; open this and the contents of the folder are there, along with a folder with the same name. This can go on forever. I have searched high and low and have not been able to find a solution to this. This occurs only when connecting with Windows, otherwise with my PowerBook it works perfectly. I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction. Additionally the Windows machine has connected to other WebDav folders without this issue. Finally, when there is a folder in a folder of the same name I am not able to map it as a network drive. Both the machine acting as the WebDav server and the Windows machine are running the most current versions of software.

    Ross

  • Nokia 6233 v05.10 odd behaviour

    Hello!
After thoroughly searching not only this board but the entire Internet, I found no answer to my question so I decided to register and ASK.
I need to know if any of you owners of a Nokia 6233 observed this odd behaviour of your phone - so please keep reading.
I purchased the phone 16 days ago. Being my first Nokia, I took time to exploit its every feature, therefore draining the battery quite quickly. I discharged and fully charged the battery at least 3 times in the first 3 days, without leaving it plugged-in overnight (as far as I know this is no longer necessary). The battery life time increased progressively until a maximum of three days of normal use, meaning moderate talking (under 20 minutes per day), little or no use of Java apps, camera, media players or GPRS/EDGE connection. The screen savers are off, power saver is on, sleep mode is on. Packet data connection - when needed and network mode is GSM only because I do not use 3G. All these should get me the best stand-by time possible, right? Well, they did, until...
I bought a new microSD card, 2.0 GB storage, made by SanDisk. The card works fine, I put my favorite music and video clips on it - all the stuff you do when you have enough space. Since then, the battery life decreased SUBSTANTIALLY to LESS THAN 24 HOURS. And there's more. The battery drains even if the phone is turned off, in roughly the same amount of time. I have never ever seen anything like this. Sometimes the battery is so low that the phone takes a few minutes before displaying the battery charging icon and, when started, it asks for hour/date settings.
So, I need to know if anybody else noticed battery life decrease with bigger memory card capacity, and what's to be done.

Have you tried using the in-box memory card(That came with the phone) again? There's something wrong with your phone and battery if the problem still occurs..

  • Mozilla was crashing every few seconds and I couldn't install the update. I removed the old to install the new and now I can't install - getting error messages that close themselves.

When I try to install I receive this message:
    "Firefox has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will clsoe the program and notify you if a solution is available."
This happens when I select RUN to install Firefox 9.0.1
I removed the old version because it was crashing everytime I tried to use it and it wouldn't let me update with the new.
I HATE IE, and need my Firefox back --- I am dead in the water for work without it.

Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 9.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • My iPhone 6 plus screen was crashed, how much is the cost if I want to repair it at Apple? FYI: I didn't bought Applecare

My iPhone 6 plus screen was crashed, how much is the cost if I want to repair it at Apple? FYI: I didn't bought Applecare+. I bought my iPhone 6 plus 3 months ago in Singapore.

$129 US. https://www.apple.com/support/iphone/repair/screen-damage/ For local pricing call your nearest Apple store. If you live somewhere other than Singapore you'll have to send the phone to someone you trust in Singapore and have them take the phone in to have it repaired. iPhone's do not have an international warranty and can only be serviced in the country they were purchased.

Sorry you are having problems. First of all try Fifrefox's safemode.
*[[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]]
If that works post back for further advice.
Next step, if safe mode did not work.
<u>First: Try a clean install, (you have had a none standard version installed previously)</u><br /> that involves deleting the program files. Then if necessary try troubleshooting by creating and using a clean empty Firefox profile.
    See
    * this recent post [/questions/940399#answer-377134]
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Clean_reinstall
    <u>Second: try a New Profile</u>
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager#Creating_a_new_profile
    * this will be an additional profile, it is still worth backing up any existing or currently working profile on a regular basis
**[[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
    * Until you are absolutely confident about the repercussions I suggest
** always use an empty folder when creating a new profile
** never delete or rename profiles, just disable or remove shortcuts
** after creating a new test profile open it and check for any addons or plugins that may be have been included by default

  • How to deactivate a computer in itunes when the computer was crashed/

My computer was crashe due to an electrical short, how can I deactivate it now without access to it?

Individual computers can only be deauthorised directly on them, but if you have 2 or more computers authorised then you can log into your account on your computer's iTunes (Store > View My Account) and 'deauthorise all' (which you can do once every 12 months) and you can then authorise/reauthorise the computers that you still have and need : authorising and deauthorising.
Deauthorising a computer won't remove any content form it, it just means that you won't be able to use any iTunes downloads on it until you reauthorise it.

  • Hello, my Mozilla hasn't work for almost 24 hours now (not responding right after opening it), and it was crashing a lot a few days before that

For a few months Mozilla was crashing at least once a day, and a few days ago it started going completely out of hand, crashing, closing unexpectedly every now and then. Since yesterday night it hasn't worked at all, i wasn't able to open any singlel web-site. I have Windows 7 on my laptop, updated McAfee (no viruses detected) and fix-it utilities (optimized 100%). I never got crash ID, can't open troubleshooting page as Mozilla wouldn't even open completely.

Can you get your home page?
If you can't even get your home page, I suggest creating a new Firefox profile. In addition to bypassing current add-ons and custom settings, it should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings (profile folder) in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. In Windows 7, your profile folder is in here:
    C:\Users\''username''\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
You can copy that entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.
Next, with Firefox closed, start up in the Profile Manager as described in the article [https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Managing+profiles Managing profiles]. Any time you want to switch profiles, close Firefox and return to this dialog.
If the new profile browses normally, you can migrate key settings like bookmarks from your problem profile to the new one. See [https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Recovering+important+data+from+an+old+profile Recovering important data from an old profile].
    Hope this helps.

  • Odd Behaviour with DVDs on IMac G5 20inch 1.8 GHz

Suddenly the Superdrive DVD/CD (MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-825, Firmware DBN7) shows odd behaviour.
It still reads CDs. But when a DVD is introduced, it will start "DVD Player" automatically, but then there is no hint of the disk. Neither does it show on the desktop, nore would it play. DVD Player would not eject it, but the eject button on the keyboard would.
The DVD is ok, as it would play on my Powerbook G4 without problems.
Any idea what might be causing this? - I had just performed the "Pro update"! Thanks for your help!
    iMac G5 20inch 1.8 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Hve you checked to see whether a different DVD will play, Bernd?
You might want to try deleting com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist from your Home/Library/Preferences folder, restarting and then seeing if it works.
    Cheers
