SC-2345

Cordialement,

  • Filter SC-2345: signal drift issues

    Hello all,
Our lab has a NI filter SC-2345 (Signal Conditioning Connector Block) to filter out noise from motion sensors used in a MRI console. We also use LabView to gather this data in our computer. The problem is that when we set up our equipment (serial cables with motion sensor at end) the signal seems cleaner, but appears to drift- eventually going out of our field of view. This (floating) signal is drifting out of range over time. We are thinking it might be an issue with the grounding? Does anyone know how to properly ground this device? What could fix this problem? Would adding resistors help? and are there fixes without adding resistors?
Any help or advice is much appreciated.
    Thank you!!
    Sandra

    Hello Sandra,
This is Marcus in Applications Engineering.  Thank you for your post.  I have attached a document which I think will be helpful.  It has procedures for wiring your analog signals and also has a section on noise and floating signals which I believe will be relevant to your case.
Please let me know if you are still having issues and I will do my best to assist you.

  • How to use an external start button for 6024E w/ sc-2345, I would like it to function like a start button in LabView but I don't know how to connect the external button to the sc-2345's connector block

I am confused as to how to connect my external start botton. I would like it to function like a start button on a front panel of a VI. I would like to use the +5V on pin 14 but I really don't know where to go from here. Any guidence for a novice would be most appreciated.

    phod,
This is the LabVIEW Real-Time forum, so I suggest that in the future that you post this type of question to the Multifunction DAQ forum.
For the simplest solution you will have to connect your button to a digital line of your board, consult the sc-2345 user manual for a diagram of where these lines are exposed. You will have to connect your start button in series with a line that is high, such as your 5V pin or another digital line. Then connect this to a digital line that will be your start trigger.
Your program can poll the digital line that is connected to your button in a while loop and when it goes high, it lets the rest of the program execute. For the programming, I suggest you take a look at the shipping examples that come with LabVIEW. If yo
u have LabVIEW 7.0 go to Help>>Find Examples. Open Hardware Input Output>>Traditional DAQ>>Digital Input and Output>>E Series for some examples of digital I/O programming with E-series boards.
    Hope that gets you started.

  • SC-2345 signal conditioner module

Has anyone worked with this hardware before?
DAQ interface to the [SC-2345] signal conditioner module. It is configurable with individual SC modules.
    (2) Using equipment currently being procured: NI CompactDAQ 9181 over Ethernet housing one NI 9213 x16 channel thermocouple  module.
Functionality should be such that a variable sample rate may be employed from 1 sample per second to 1 sample per minute for all channels.  One sample per minute shall be the threshold requirement.  Only temperature is expected to be measured.  All available channels having temperature modules shall be measured and recorded.  The data should be viewed on a graph for the current test mainly for troubleshooting and calibration purposes.  All data shall be stored on hard drive to a data file in a usable file format, preferably *.csv file format.  User interface shall support start and stop of a test in a single mouse or keyboard action.  Each start of a new test shall create a new test data file not to overwrite other data.

What you are trying to do is possible with the equipment you have and LabVIEW.  The 9213 has built in cold junction compensation for up to 16 thermocouple measurements.
To get started programming this try looking at the example under Help-> Example Finder-> Hardware Input and Output-> DAQmx-> Analog Measurements-> Temperature-> Cont Acq Thermocouple Samples-SW Timed.vi
This link may help you to program the start and stop for your measurements:

  • Connecting my SC-2345 chassis to my laptop

I have a SC-2345 that I use to collect bridge-based strain gauge data.  For years now, I've been using a 6036e PCMCIA DAQ card to get the data into my laptop.  However, I'd like to get a newer, faster laptop and no longer have the option of getting one with a PCMCIA slot.  Can anyone recommend either:
    1) A new way DAQ configuration to connect a laptop to my SC-2345?  I'd like to not spend too much money, as I'd only be using it for this one application.
    2) A PCMCIA to USB adapter that would work with my old 6036e DAQ card?
    Thanks,
    Jesse

    Hello MonkeyBusiness,
    1. About the first option, I went to the 6036e product page, as you could see NI recommends the PCIe-6341. But if you are using a laptop, the PCI bus is not the best option so could take a look to the USB bus usb-6341. You just need then the correct cable.

  • Rounding up values in the report. Ex. 10.2345 to 10, 11.7756 to 12.

    hello
i have one problem. i want to round off the key figures in the report in BEx. like rounding up values Ex. 10.2345 to 10, 11.7756 to 12.
    pls help. its urgent.

Make the Decimal setting in teh Key Fig properties as mentioned in the above post. If this does not work try the following.
Hide ur actual column of the key figure K.F
Create a Formula Key Figure. You need to use Mathematical and Boolean Operations .Create the following formula
    ( FRAC ( 'K.F' ) >= 0.5 ) * CEIL ( 'K.F' ) + ( FRAC ( 'K.F' ) < 0.5 ) * FLOOR ('K.F' )

  • No power in new SC-2345, PWR01 (powered from PXI-6221)

I've used several systems in the past that included an SC-2345 box powered from a PXI card, and until now have not had problems.
I have an SC-2345 (PWR01, rear-connect) connected to a PXI-6221, all brand new, and the SC-2345 does not seem to be getting any power.  The indicator LED's on the front do not light, and if I look at terminal 14 on the screw terminal block, I don't see the +5V I expect.  If I unplug the 68-pin cable at the SC-2345 and look at the pins directly, I do see +5V on pin 14.  All the pins on the cable appear in good condition, and the cable seats firmly when plugged in.
I can run a self-test on PXI-6221 from MAX, and it passes.  I've removed all cartridges from the box and looked for obvious shorts, but the problem persists.  There _may_ have been a short when the box was first connected -- a few leads from the front panelettes were disconnected and unrestrained.  Supposing this caused a short, are there fuses in the box that I can check / replace?
I have spare SC-2345's, but it's a little difficult to get them to this particular site -- are there any suggestions for things to check before just trying a different SC-2345?
    Thank you!
    -Eric

    Hi Eric
Did you set the switch S1 on the SCC-PWR01 to select the source of the +5 V E SER (E/M Series) or EXT (external). If you select EXT, you must connect a +5 V supply (user supplied) to the screw terminals of J1 on the SCC-PWR01. For more information here is the link of the manual

    nce of nth triggering pulse. i need to know when the when the ist trigger occurs and when the nth trigger occurs . please tell me how to to . what i know is that event triggering has to be done with start and stop trigger. please tell me how it has to doneSuresh;
What you will need to do is to set up a digital start and stop triggered Analog Input acquisition. Then you will need to have a counter set as event counter, having the specific number of pulses you need configured as the preset value, configured to count down, and generating a pulse after the terminal count has been reached. That counter output will be the stop trigger of the Analog Input operation. In summary, you will have the external pulse being both the digital trigger of the Analog Input operation and the source pin of the counter, and the counter output being the digital stop signal for the analog input.
I'm attaching a Labview VI that does the start and stop analog input acquisition. You will need to include the counter part and set the stop s
ignal to be the counter output.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I connect and detect a high frquency pulse (0-3500hz) with a variable pulse voltage (0v low,5-10v high), on a SC-2345 connected to a PCI-6224?

How do I connect and detect a high frquency pulse (0-3500hz) with a variable pulse voltage (0v low,5-10v high),  on a SC-2345 connected to a PCI-6224?  Labview doesn't generate a waveform if I try to graph the signal, and my analog input doesn'y recognize that the signal is even pulsing, only that it has a voltage.  Some advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Garrett

    Hi Garrett,
It sounds like you want to do Frequency Measurements of a signal that is somewhat digital.
There are two ways you can really do this:
Wire your signal to the counter input and use the Digital Frequency examples (Help > Find Examples > Browse > Hardware Input and Output > DAQmx > Counter Measurements > Digital Frequency)
Continue taking analog measurements and use some sort of logic to determine where you are getting rising and falling edges.
I would recommend doing method #1, but you must determine which one is the best for your system.
If you want to connect to the counter pins then you will find the
terminals located on the side of your SC-2345.  If you don't need
to condition your signals then simply wire everything into the proper
    pins for your counter (below).

    Hi everybody,
How can I have all the digits of the source field in the target field with the decimal pont removed.
    Source field --1.2345
    target field --12345
    thanks,

    Hi,
Prepare an udf to remove decimal point.
you can use the following java code for udf .
           String s1="";
                  for( int i=0; i<a.length();i++)
                       if (a.charAt(i) == '.')  {}
                          else
                           s1= s1 +a.charAt(i);
                 return s1;

  • No list tree of device and interface, software in MAX sytem. using pci 6034E and chasis 2345

Hye, i got the problem about this device.
I using PCI 6034 E which will connect to SCC 2345 to measure current and voltage.
My os is 32 bit Windows XP.
First i install this software, my MAX listed the tree of devices & interface which is PCI 6034 E and chasis 2345, and all download software are listed in tree of software.
By the way, when i start to measure the current, my MAX is working fine.. but, the problem is starting in the next day, wheni try to measure againt, all the list are dissapear. Then i uninstall all the NI component and reinstall again. Thereare a lot of install and reinstall again and again.. By the way the result is still same. Do not have any tree appear..
so, any colution for my problem?
i try to solve this problem, and i read that when the tree of devices and interfaces not appear, it's maybe because we using driver : NI 488.2 , i try to uninstall this driver.. by the way the result is still same...

    sahizansalman,
It looks like the same is happening with the Software list. This is often a sign of a MAX database corruption. I'd try the steps outlined in this knowledgebase:
What is the Process For Removing MAX Database Corruption?
Feel free to post back if this does not work.
By the way, do you know what device is showing up as unknown in the device manager? You did not mention anything besides your PCI DAQ card and SCC 2345, which are showing up fine.

  • SCC-2345 won't recognize the (2) SCC-SG24s I installed

    SCC-2345 won't recognize the (2) SCC-SG24s I installed.
They don't show up as a MAX selection.  They are installed
in J3 and J4.  I've tried moving them to different slots with
but they still don't show up.
We have a 6052E card connected to the SCC-2345.  We are
using Labview 7.0 Developer Suit.  Operating system is Windows
    2000.
The (2) SCC-SG04s we have installed do show up as a
    selection and work well.
Can anyone point me toward a resolution to this problem?

    Alan,
Thanks for your reponse, it was dead on.
After updating, the scc-sg24s now appear as a drop down selection but now
I have another problem.  My  PCI-6052 DAQ board now does not appear as
a selection to "add".  Immediately after updating NI-DAQ I fired up MAX and
even though the scc-sg24 appeared as a selection, this selection, the
scc-2435, our pci-6052, and all other modules fitted to the pci-6052/scc-2435
appear with a red "X" next to them.
I renamed the existing <Data> directory and allowed MAX to recreate it but the
PCI-6052 appears ONLY as a legacy selection and can not be added/selected to
    DAQmx.
I can add the scc-2345  DIRECTLY to DAQmx and also select all the modules
that we have loaded into it, but after I select <OK> I get an error message that I
    haven't selected a digital interface
I'm assuming this is because I can't add the 2345(I have to add it directly to
DAQmx)  to the 6052 because the 6052 doesn't show as an available option to be
    added to DAQmx.
Do you know if there is other software or drivers I need to update?
    Again, thanks for your help.

    Bonjour,

    Hi,
Anyone who have a solution to convert 2,345.56 SEK to 2345.56 in C#?
Is there a method in SAP we can use?
I like to do some calculation from a text box; but value comes like 2,345.56 SEK in B1
    Thank you,

    Hi Rune,
Here's what I use to strip a currency code from an amount:
Public Shared Function ExtractNumberFromString(ByVal sDecSep As String, ByVal sInput As String, ByRef sRemoved As String) As String
            ' Replace invalid characters
            Dim sReturn As String = Regex.Replace(sInput, "[^0-9\" + sDecSep + "]", "")
' Pass the removed characters back in the sRemoved string
            sRemoved = Regex.Replace(sInput, "[0-9\" + sDecSep + "]", "")
         Return sReturn
    End Function
    where
sDecSep = the character used as the decimal separator as defined in Company Settings
sInput = the string that contains the number
sRemoved = returns the characters that have been removed from the input string (can be useful as it will return the currency code in this case)
    Kind Regards,
