Scala, the next programming language

Hello, friends!
I tell you what the main flaw in Java is: it is not functional.
I tell you functional and object oriented programming languages, like Scala, will be the next generation of programming languages.
I tell you what language will substitute Java: Scala (http://www.scala-lang.org/).
Cheers!

First, I basically said that yes, it's possbile to use Java APIs in Scala. What I meant by the question is that it would be nice to have the APIs written in Scala (and sure you have some purely Scala APIs) and since you're so eager to promote it, you could do that, not? :-D

  • How to know the suitable programming language?

    Hi,
    I want to write a program and I don't know how to pick the suitable programming language for this program. Please, can you guide me on this?
    Is there any SOFTWARE that help in choosing the suitable programming language for a specific program?

    It's pretty much a judgment call:
    http://www.awaretek.com/atesterea.html
    suggests a programming language based on some criteria which is chosen by some one and produces results which are also one person's opinion. I wouldn't agree with all the results it gives.

  • Poonya Script :: The new programming language for Web

    Poony Script is a new programming language for Web, working with proxies between Flash Player and ActionScript 3, and a powerful performance and high flexibility of development, in addition to being free and unrestricted.
    To learn more about the novel technology in between:
    http://www.poonya.com/

    Hello AHernandezIP,
    The "Poony Script" was not made up to leave the AS3, but to expand the capabilities of it in Flash.
    The performance needs been studied carefully, and we get more than 80% of the performance of AS3, and it is still better and better that agent works in the API.
    Yet even this year we will be launching version "Studio" to create files 'swf' directly from the browser.
    We now know that more and more programs are becoming more complex, and the famous "Internet Cloud" is coming increasingly to everyone.
    The need now is to make a compiler that runs directly from the browser without installing anything on your computer.
    Who has vision of the future known as the "Poony Script" will be helpful.
    Thank you!

  • I`ve just updatet to max os x snow leopard. What is the name of the next program i need to update to?

    I`ve just updated to max os x snow leopard. I`m not sure what the next update for my mac is. Can anyone help me?

    Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 which will provide access to the Mac App Store from which you can purchase and download Mountain Lion if your Mac model supports it:
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
    To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
           Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
             7. Xserve (Early 2009)
         Are my applications compatible?
             See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps - App compatibility and feature support for OS X & iOS.
    If your computer does not support installing Mountain Lion then you may be able to install Lion:
    Upgrading to Lion
    If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
    You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • What is the best program language for mass email (PHP,  ASP, Coldfusion)?

    I want to be able to send mass email (from a SQL db) with
    stability and reliability.
    I've used Coldfusion for some time (CFmail tag) and have not
    been impressed.
    It seems, at times, it has a mind of it's own, and is a
    little unreliable, especially
    when sending hundreds of emails at one shot. I'm not dogg'n
    Codfusion,
    that's what I program in, I just am looking for a method that
    I can build on.
    My question is this: What is the best and most reliable
    coding when sending mass email?
    Is it PHP, ASP, XML, Coldfusion....what?
    You would think there has to be an optimum option out
    there...right?
    Thanks for the knowledge!

    I've used CF to send out as many as 50,000+ emails in a
    single blast and
    haven't ever had any problems with it. Particularly with CF
    Enterprise,
    CF is an extremely high-performance mail generation engine.
    Remeber
    that CF itself doesn't send the mail so you're dependent upon
    the speed
    of your mail server as a large part of the equation as well.

  • The choice of the programming language

    Hi everyone,
    The right programming language in the right place.
    What are according to you the criteria that can help you to decide which programming language you should use to program an application or a system? Why should you use for example Java in place of C++, C# or VB? or may be C++ in place of Java... what sould you take in consideration?
    Thanks,
    Yassin

    It would depend on the platform that your working on. I'm currently working in java because my client wants the system I'm working on (multiple programs that work together) to work on Linux, Windows and the web.
    When Working on THEOS, (http://www.theos-software.com/) I usually use Theos Multi-user basic. VB for Windows (or C++ depending on the project), and C++ for Linux.

  • J programming language

    has anybody used the J programming language on Arch? I need it for college next semester. I'm left my Arch box at home so I can't pacman for it. And has anyone run Arch on a Jetway motherboard (with VIA C7 processor).
    Thanks

    I think this is what you're looking for: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … ns=&SeB=nd
    It's in the AUR, but not the binary repos, so you'd have to build it yourself or use aurbuild/yaourt or similar.

  • Java programming language main method question?

    Hello everyone I am quite new to the Java programming language and I have a question here concerning my main method. As you can see I am calling 4 others methods with my main method. What does the null mean after I call the method? I really don't understand is significance, what else could go there besides null?
    public static void main(String[] args)
              int cansPerPack = 6;
              System.out.println(cansPerPack);
              int cansPerCrate = 4* cansPerPack;
              System.out.println(cansPerCrate);
              have_fun(null);
              user_input(null);
              more_java(null);
              string_work(null);

    ..What does the null mean after I call the method?.. 'null' is being passed as an argument to the method, so there is no 'after the method' about it.
    ..I really don't understand is significance, what else could go there besides null? That would depend on the method signatures that are not shown in the code snippet posted. This is one of many reasons that I recommend people to post an SSCCE *(<- link).*
    BTW - method names like have_fun() do not follow the common nomenclature, and are not good code for a newbie to study. The code should be put to the pointy end of your sword.

  • Maxdb - programming language interface

    Which is the best programming language to interface with MAXDB database ?
    Is there any framework that provides easy integration of MaxDB with the programming language ?
    Regards,
    Tom Jerry

    > I am referring to frameworks like struts, ruby on rails, velocity, etc.
    Ok, I admit, I'm not a professional java developer but....
    STRUTS is a general web application development framework.
    VELOCITY is a language for using templates to use java objects.
    RUBY ON RAILS is also a language/framework for creating web applications.
    None of them is specifically a database integration framework.
    If you want an example for a application framework that works seamless  with MaxDB and all other major databases - go for SAP NetWeaver
    It has a lot to offer, a huge user/developer base, professional support, really is mission-critical-proof and you can download the developer version here in SDN as well.
    > I am a beginner in using maxdb database. And I want some proper guidance in using Java for interfacing with the database.
    > Agreed that the documentation has already been made available, but it is not user-friendly especially for beginners.
    Ok, the documentation may be a bit more extensive - but it already covers quite enough to get started.
    E.g. [Example: HelloMaxDB|http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_7/46/7bb199e97150d1e10000000a155369/content.htm].
    Make sure to check the [Java Manual|http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_7/46/7bb193e97150d1e10000000a155369/content.htm].
    > hence, requested for baby steps to build an java application.
    You've got the 'baby steps' right there.
    But there's not going to be anybody taking them for you - programming is not following screenshots ...
    So, have fun!

  • Ada programming language

    Before I ask my coding question, is anyone familiar with the Ada programming language? thanks

    I remember back in approximately Oracle6/7 timeframe, I was porting, including porting Pro*Ada, but I don't think we ever did OCI for Ada. For sure, it does not exist with the Oracle8 OCI. I am surely no ADA expert, but wouldn't it generally be a problem to have something in ADA, that is so dependent on have the concept of an address as OCI is? Don't Oracle still have SQL*Module for ADA?

    I recently updated to the OSX 10.8.3 Operating Sistem.  I am writing a book and now cannot open any word document I've created with the old system.  Could not find a newer version of the Microsoft Word Processing Program.  Is Pages the next thing? Can I recover my documents?  How?

    I'm in the same boat: new to OS X and Mac, and in the middle of a book. I switched because I heard about the the ease of using Mac, but so far, for me, it's been a nightmare. I bought 2011 Office Mac and hate everything about it, the most recent being the inability to open or cut or paste any of my original word files. I understand that this could have easily been done with earlier versions, but not Mountain Lion (which I learned is what OSX is.) Since I work with language, I am amazed at the assumptions of the Apple community. It helps to use common language and explain even the basics.
    So all the helpful hints to use the latest version of Office Mac are to no avail. Now what?
