Scale action in one direction

Hello,
I would like to take a rectangle and add and action to it that scales it into a square. I can only scale in every direction. Am I missing an easier way to accomplish this?

Yup, that's it. Place the rectangle on the first slide. Use magic move to transition to the second slide with the square. Magic Move is very cool for transitioning images by scaling....or even turning them upside down on the second.

Buttons run in one direction

I've just started to use Flash CS4 after a 3 year hiatus and
I am completely in the dark with AS3. I used to assign AS2 directly
to a button but now I see that it is no longer in the case and I
definitely WANT to learn how to do it the current and right way. I
have a series of buttons that I have set up in a timeline with "on"
and "off" states. When I test the movie, each button works in
descending order but when I try to click a button higher up in the
order, it doesn't work anymore. I tried modifying the code so the
last button ran back to the 1st frame in the timeline, which is NOT
a desired action, but then code resets itself and I can click
through the buttons in one direction again. How do I get this to
work correctly? Do I have to somehow loop the AS? I feel pretty
retarded at this point...please help. Anyway, I used this code:

From your description, it sounds like your buttons are
stretched across the timeline. I'm guessing that your actionscript
is in the first frame. If all of your button instances are also in
the first frame, then they will work. If you want each button to
work in each frame, then that button instance has to be in each
frame, with no interruptions.
If you want a button to disappear along a particular number
of frames, you can either hide the button behind another object,
or, you can move it off the visible area of the stage and then move
it back when you want it again.

Move and Scale Action

I have text moving from one place to another using the Move Action.
The text itself is too small to really be able to read, so I'm looking for the best way to increase the size of the text (not necessarily scale as that will give me fuzzy text) from, lets say 5px to 20px, where it reaches 20px by the middle of the move, and then reduces back down to 5px by the end of its journey. A pause in the middle may be nice too, but that's probably asking to much.

Combining actions and builds is pretty simple, and is done in the Build Order flyout drawer in the Action Inspector palette. Create your move action, then click the small "Add Action" plus sign at the bottom of the Action palette to add your scale action. When you add this action, the Build Order drawer will appear, listing the actions/builds for the slide. In order to combine actions/builds, you simply need to select an action and in the bottom "Start Build" drop-down menu choose "Automatically with build #" (where "#" is the prior build). After doing this, your object will move and scale simultaneously (and could also rotate and change opacity, if you wanted, as all these actions can be put together in any combination using this technique).
This procedure is also how you get multiple objects to build in or out together. Playing with the time delay for the build (just below the "Start Build" dropdown) can also produce some very nice effects.

So I have purchased every song on the Up All Night album by One Direction but it isn't showing up as Purchased in the iTunes store and it isn't saying that I can download the iTunes LP...help!

OSB : How can we copy actions from one project folder to other projects?

How can we copy actions from one project folder to other projects in OSB?
For eg:
I have a service call out action in Project1/proxySer1
I want to copy this to Project2/proxySer2.
Espicially, in our case error handling callout is common to all of our projects and we should be able to copy from one to another.

It was my fault. I was on two different servers, while i was doing this and so didn't work. But copy /past action works as you suggested.
Can I select multiple actions from one stage and paste to different proxy service? I have too many options to copy/paste and hence I have this question.
Is there any other way of copying all selected actions in one stage to another, but not the complete stage itselft?

Can't synch calendar appts with outlook 2007 but only in one direction?

i have the verizon iphone and aside from this one MAJOR glitch, i'm loving the phone. no dropped calls, and well, i had a palm centro, so this is a major upgrade in every way except for this one MAJOR glitch...
i'm synching my iphone with my work pc and using outlook 2007 on my company's exchange server. i first synched an ipad last month and now this iphone to my laptop and exchange and i'm having the problem with both actually.
i can add an appointment on my laptop and it pushes to my calendar on my iphone and ipad. BUT if i add an appointment on my iphone or ipad, it doesn't update to my calendar on my laptop. this is very strange!! i can see the added appointment from either one of the idevices on the other, BUT it never pushes to my laptop calendar. however, at the time i add the event, i'm looking at my laptop calendar and in the lower right corner where the exchange status bar is, i can see it quickly switch to say "waiting to update folders" and then it goes back to "all folders are up to date." so it appears that the devices and laptop outlook are communicating in some capacity, but the appointment doesn't make it to it's final destination on the calendar.
it gets even more strange. if i even EDIT an existing event from either one of my idevices, it will ERASE the event on my laptop calendar. to be clear, i don't know if this problem began with the initial intro of the ipad last month as i had never used it to edit calendars and only discovered it when i decided to test all scenarios.
so basically my i devices are communicating and pushing updates between each other, but my laptop updates are only pushing in one direction. if i do anything from either idevice it either doesn't push or it ERASES IT??!!
this is a major problem, but what i'm not certain of is where the origin is. is it iphone related, pc related, exchange related, software, firmware, hardware?
oh and otherwise everything else pushes fine in both directions with outlook exchange: contacts, email, even notes (although iphone notes are useless)

Found the problem. The iMac G5 that I couldn't connect to (but could connect from) was actually connected to another company's wireless network that is on our floor. After switching back to our network all problems were resolved. A relief...

How to do more than one action per one request ?

1. I have taskflow with several actions. For example Page1 (action1) -> Page2, Page2 (action2) -> Page3. How can I move from the Page1 to Page3 without creating additional actions per one request?
2. I have 1 unbounded taskflow, and 2 bounded. Unbounded (action1) -> Bounded1, Unbounded (action2) -> Bounded2. How can I return from Bounded1 taskflow and enter to Bounded2 taskflow via "action2" per one request?

IPad really wants to tilt in one direction...

I just got an iPad 2 (as a gift). I've noticed that to get the screen to change orientation takes tilting it about 30-45 degrees, exept in one direction where a tilt of only a few degrees, 5 or less, is required. If I'm holding it in portrait with the button down, it takes very little for it to decide that the right side should be down instead, and it flips to landscape. It's really irritating if I'm reading and happen to be holding it near level, or place it on a flat surface. Is this a known problem and is there a fix? I have a bubble level app which I've never calibrated and it shows the orientation correct to within a degree, so I don't see any obvious reason why one direction of tilt should be so different (30-40 degrees off in sensitivity) from the others.

I just used the (free) Clinometer HD app to measure it. If you tilt it slowly you can see exactly what value triggers a change.
iPad 2: Right tilt is triggered at 9 degrees. All others (left, up, down) are triggered at 29 degrees.
iPad 1: Right tilt is triggered at 13 degrees. All others are 29 degrees as with the iPad 2.
It looks like it's a parameter, and it's slightly lower on the iPad 2.
After more searching (and finally finding my way through all the irelevent "won't rotate" results) I find that others have noticed this feature before and speculation is that it's related to the Apple case -- they probably want it to rotate at the angle the case props it up to. Maybe the difference (9 vs. 13) is related to the different cases for the iPad 1 vs. 2. (It's also possible my wife's iPad 1 doesn't have the same version of software, and that's it's a software version difference. But I'm pretty sure it does, I think she updated it in the last couple weeks. She's reading and I don't want to keep asking if I can borrow it again...)
(Note: if I'm moving the iPad 2 I can get it to change with a right tilt as low as 0 degrees, but more often 5-7 degrees, it doesn't take a lot of motion to make it think it's tilted 9 degrees. I think less careful testing, without the clinometer app, is the cause of my original "less than 5 degrees" estimate.)
Now I'm trying to decide if I should still visit the Apple Store tomorrow to confirm this. (If someone else can confirm the angle on their their iPad 2 with the Clinometer HD app it would save me the trip...)

Skype Federation shows garbled characters in one direction

I have implemented PIC from my Lync 2013 Server via an Edge Server to Skype.
Unfortunately connectivity works only in one direction:
Sending IMs from Skype to Lync works fine.
No matter what I enter everything sent from Lync to Skype arrives as þÿ (Which is a Unicode Byte Order Mark as in

Any ideas?

Can only connect from one direction

I'm having trouble video confrencing... I tried searching the forums, but I'm having trouble thinking of clever search terms.
I can only connect from one direction with one person. They can invite me to a chat and it works fine every time. However when I invite them it always fails. I can invite other people and it works fine though.
This doesn't seem like a typical router problem, because they can invite me and we videochat just fine.
This has been a problem for most versions of iChat that I can remember, but I'm using 3.1.5 currently.

Charging adapter only charges plugged in one direction

I have an issue I didn't have before Apple changed out the logic board. Now when I plug in a power apter it will only.charge or work plug in in one direction. It is a hassle with a right angle adapter as when it is plugged in and working can't use the FireWire, video or USB ports. Any ideas.

It should work either way. Bring the unit back and have the problem rectified.

my default is coming from on table and the rest from another reference table with for all the drop downs.

Thanks. I sorted it out after a while. The problem that I was having is that Pages seemed to treat the copied and pasted webpage content almost like an image: indivisible. I had to go back to the page and copy a few pages at a time. Then I could paste the content in one page after another.

JScrollPane: lock views size in one direction

Hi,
I have a JScrollPane that should use only the vertical scrollbar and a fixed size in horizontal direction. That means when an element inside the scroll panes view is broader as allowed it has to be shrinked down according to the behaviour of its LayoutManager.
I tried to set the preferred size for the JScrollPane itself and its view port but nothing helped. So how can I lock a JScrollPane in one direction so that it shows its standard behaviour only for the other direction?

This response is probably way too late to solve your problem but I was looking for an answer to the same question and found this post, so I figure if I answer it here, the next person won't need to search further.
Basically you use Scrollable to do this.
Assuming you're working with a custom panel:
public class MyCustomPanel implements Scrollable {

}If you're not using a custom panel then often it will already implement this method, but you can still override it to force the desired behaviour.
FWIW this can also be used in the direction you do want it to scroll, if you have a background you need to fill the entire scrollable area:

        return getParent() instanceof JViewport && getParent().getHeight() > getPreferredSize().height;
