Scale image from small to large(r) without losing resolution

Does anyone know how I can create a "scale action" of an image on a slide from small to large without losing the resolution of the image. Now, when I reduce the size of an image as a starting size and use Scale from the inspector to scale the image to e.g. 200% the images looks very blurred. I want the image in the larger form to have a good resolution.
Thanks for your help.

That's an interesting bug you've identified -- an image that is reduced by 50% and then scaled up to 200% with a Scale action looks blurrier than the original image at 100%. It seems like Keynote is scaling up the reduced image, rather than "removing the reduction" on the original.
One solution that works well is to make a copy of your original image at the final size you want the scaled image to be, then place this copy on top of the scaling image, and build it in immediately after the scaling action with a dissolve build in that starts automatically after the scaling action. What this will do is give you the scaling effect, but at the final size, the full(er) resolution version will dissolve on top of the lower-res version. This procedure is more cumbersome than having the scaling effect work properly, but the result is quite acceptable, and the second dissolve build is pretty much imperceptible.

    How do I import images from my hard drive without losing resolution? My original files after import are significantly smaller. What should I do?

    Hi Keith, and all others chiming in, I do have the correct option checked in advanced settings telling iPhoto to copy the images into the library. What is a refernced library? Perhaps this is where I am getting confused. I exported my entire photo library from an old iMac5 to my external hard drive, from there I attempted to import the entire library to my new iMac. Am I overlooking an obvious and easy way to import from the hard drive to the new iMac--I dragged the entire photo pholder from the hard drive to the open window of iPhoto on the new computer. Now, I only get preview file sizes in iPhoto, unless I have my external drive open. Perhaps I need to import the original images from the hard drive in a different way...?! (This is making me feel pretty stupid.)

    I had been saving as a PDF and then reducing the size of the PDF by printing it as a PDF with a degree of image compression. I write manuals with a LOT of screen captures and line art that needs to be clear. So it is a balancing act between image clarity and PDF size. The PDFs on the web need to be smaller - sure you can undertsand.
    Anyway, when I print the PDF again, I lose both my destinations and bookmarks.
    Anyone know of any way to avoid that?

    Control the images by creating a custom PDF Job Options and then selecting it in the PDF Job Options drop-down of the PDF setup dialog box (File > Save as PDF...)
    Create the custom PDF Job Options file with Distiller. If you do not have Distiller, open the Printing Preferences of the Adobe PDF printer. Start with the Smallest File Size Job Options settings and Edit.

  • How do i move my itunes image to a new PC? Without losing my Data

    How do i move my itunes image to a new PC? Without losing my Data

    These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
    Backup the library with this User Tip.
    Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
    Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
    Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
    Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
    Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
    I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
    Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
    If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
    Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • How to increase the image size without losing resolution in iPhoto?

    Dear All
    I have pics i took with my phone which is not an iphone, just little sony ericsson phone.
    Is there a way to increase the image size without losing resolution in iPhoto please? Or cheap 3rd party software or shareware perhaps?
    thank you very much.

    iPhoto has no way to do that. You'll need an external editor for the job. Not all have the capability. I know Photoshop has.
    You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • Installing Maverick on my Mac lost almost all of the calendar entries. They are still on my iPhone and new entries move freely to both devices via iCloud. How do I get the entries from my iPhone to iCloud without losing them from iPhone?

    Like many others after I installed Maverick I found that all the calendar history has been lost and most of the forward info has also been lost. Also in order to get calendar, contacts and notes to sync with the iPhone I have had to move to iCloud. Contacts and notes sync fine. new calendar entries sync ok. My iPhone has all the calendar entries that were on the Mac before I installed Maverick. So far iCloud has not overwritten them nor have they synced onto iCloud.
    How can I get all the entries from my iPhone onto iCloud, without losing the only copy of my calendar from my iPhone?
    Thanks Apple for deciding to take over my privacy. I do not want this data stored on a US based server. Fortunately Mail still syncs via my own email provider. I guess Apple will find a way to stop that soon too!

    Greetings Nefertiti72,
    It seems you are experiencing an issue with contact syncing and management. It seems you've removed an email account which contained a number of contacts that are not associated with your iCloud account. I have linked to a knowledge base article which provides more information about iCloud contacts syncing:
    Get help using iCloud Contacts - Apple Support
    Learn what to do if you’re having issues using iCloud Contacts. For example, you might make changes to Contacts that don't update across all of your devices.
    You may want to consider importing the contacts from the email account you removed. You can do it easily by following the steps in this article:
    iCloud: Import a vCard
    You can import an electronic business card, also called a vCard, into iCloud Contacts. If the vCard contains contact information for more than one person, each contact becomes a separate entry.
    In iCloud Contacts, choose Import vCard from the Action pop-up menu , which appears at the bottom of the All Contacts list or a list of group contacts
    Select a vCard to import.
    The contacts from the vCard are added to the All Contacts group in Contacts. You can add the contacts to any other group by dragging them to the desired group.
    Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • How can I move my iPhoto Library from one Mac to another without losing the comments on the individual photos in the process?

    How can I move my iPhoto Library from one Mac to another without losing the comments on the individual photos in the process? The source Macbook (OS 10.4.11 and iPhoto 6.0.6 (3.2.2.)) is with my husband in Germany, the target MacBook Pro (OS 10.8.5, iPhoto 11) is with me in Japan. Thanks for your help.

    I copied the iPhoto Library to a CD and from there to the new MacBook
    If you copied the library to the CD via the Finder it would be no different than the methods Terence suggested.  If you used the Share ➙ Burn menu option from inside iDVD you'll get a mini library that has to be accessed from the open library and the events/alubums copied into the destination library.  Not the same as the other methods.
    The Share ➙ Burn method is no longer supported with iPhoto 9 and later.

  • How can I resize an image without losing resolution or using the crop tool? I am using Photoshop Elements 13 on a PC.

    How can I resize an image without losing resolution or using the crop tool? I am using Photoshop Elements 13 on a PC.

    Hi Peru Bob,
    I've tried two images, the results were:
    Image 1
    Jpg, original file size 923KB, dimensions 848px x 279px.
    After resizing to 848px x 180px with 72dpi, the file size decreased to 164KB.
    Image 2
    Jpg, original file size 809KB, dimensions 1200px x 1800px.
    After resizing to 668px x 722px with 72dpi, the file size decreased to 307KB.
    So, there seems to be a fair file size loss - is this to be expected?

  • Move a site from one Mac to another without losing sites already there

    I would like to move a site from one Mac to another without losing the websites that I have already built on the other Mac. Transfering the Domain file is not helping. Is there away to open the new domain file and adding those sites to the domain file associated with this copy of iWeb? I have searched the discussions but am not seeing any clear answers. They all seam to invilve new users or losing the sites already on that mac.

    I seem to have solved my own problem. This may help other users. I found a tip and a web page that suggested moving the Domain File from the application support folder to another on the desktop on one of the computers and then putting the 2nd Domain File from the other computer in a separate folder on the desktop. This is because you can not change the name of the Domain File . Then by double clicking the Domain File with the site wanted, iWeb opens with that set of sites.
    I started with what was to be the new master Domain File and stated a new site with a blank page. saved, did not publish and closed iWeb. Opened from the other Domain File and then clicked and opened the site and page I wanted, then selected all, copied all and closed iweb. Went back to the master Domain File , opened iWeb using that, went to the blank page and pasted in the page from the other Domain File from the other computer. Saved, closed iWeb and repeated till I had all pages. Changed the names to match the sites and Pages. I did not allow iWeb to publish during this process. Took all of 10 minutes and I now have a Domain File with all the sites in one place. I then copied this file back into its original location in Library/application support/iWeb on both computers. I now have all sites in iWeb on both computers.

  • I want to transfer new content from iTunes to my iphone without losing what is already on my phone. Help!

    I want to transfer new content from iTunes to my iPhone without losing what is already on the phone. On the old iTunes I could drag and drop only the items I wanted on the phone.  On this new version, all I can figure out to do is sync, which is going to remove the songs that are already on the phone. There has to be another way.

    The film would have to be in itunes on your computer.
    You would sync it like you do everything else.

    Thanks for the information!  My sister gave me the MBP for my daughter with Leopard installed.  I purchased Snow Leopard and installed it, then my daughter purchased Lion.  So I do have all the installers.  If iWork wasn't included with any of those, I guess my sister purchased it while running Leopard.  I'll have to contact her.  Thanks again.

  • Need help with the hover over images from small to bigger

    I read the tutorial about the hover over the small image shows a bigger image. I thought I would try it own my own but it did not work, do I need to make a link to the CSS file or do I need to do something different. Please help

    Here is the tutorial link:
    http://www.dreamweaverclub.com/dreamweaver-show-larger-image.php
    This is a pure CSS Image Swap without the need for JavaScript behaviors.
    It places the thumbnail image on a page with a "nolink" link or anchor so the  CSS hover rule can invoke the appearance of the larger  image inside  an absolutely positioned division (APDiv) layer.
    Paste the CSS code into the top of your page between the <head> and </head> tags.
    <style type="text/css">
    /**image to large**/
    #picture {width:100px; height: 250px; background-color:#ffffff;}
    #picture a.small, #picture a.small:visited { display:block; width:100px; height:100px; text-decoration:none; background:#ffffff; top:0; left:0; border:0;}
    #picture a img {border:0;}
    #picture a.small:hover {text-decoration:none; background-color:#000000; color:#000000;}
    #picture a .large {display:block; position:absolute; width:0; height:0; border:0; top:0; left:0;}
    #picture a.small:hover .large {display:block; position:absolute; top: 90px; left:150px; width:200px; height:200px; }
    </style>
    Paste the HTML code between the <body> and </body> tags:
    <div id="picture">
    <a class="small" href="#nogo" title="small image"><img src="small-image.jpg" width="125" height="83" title="small image" />
    <img class="large" src="large-image.jpg" title="large image" /></a>
    </div> <!--end picture-->
    Change small-image.jpg and large-image.jpg to your own.
