Scaling footage in Premiere Pro CC
Hi,
I recently shot some footage in 1080 that I am editing in PP CC. I created a 960 x 450 sequence, dragged the HD footage into the timeline and scaled the footage down by 50% to fit in the frame. When I playback the footage, it automatically plays back in HD in the preview window instead of the scaled down version. Is there a reason why this is happening?
I am having a similar result as degrees73, but maybe I can explain a little better.
I am editing 4k footage into a 1080p timeline for delivery. We do time-lapse recording, so we often render in 4k from the images, and place into a 1080 project for ability to zoom and crop.
I have had 2 4k projects in the past week give me weird results during playback. I will place the 4k footage into the 1080 timeline, reduce the scale on the footage to around 50% and upon playing the 50% footage back it is playing a small square inside the 1080 project, almost like it sees the footage as 1080 resolution and is reducing that by 50%.
All my footage is Prores(HQ) and is inside a Prores(HQ) project. I have tried creating a new 1080 project and still no good. The only solution I have found is to place the footage into another timeline suited to that resolution and place the timeline into the 1080 timeline. But this technique does not suit the cut that I am currently doing as I need to make adjustments to specific shots.
Any help would be great as to why this is happening.

Canon 300 footage crashing Premiere PRO 6 on Mac PRO
As stated above... C300 footage crashes Premiere Pro when using on my Mac Pro. It happens when you scrub through the footage. I have done plenty of searches and everyone with a Mac Pro seems to be having the same problem. The footage also has glitches in the frames when it plays and renders. The only solution I have found is to transcode the footage to something else, which kind of defeats the purpose of using Premiere Pro 6 in the first place. I know this is a problem specific to the Mac Pro because my Macbook Pro does not have this issue when dealing with C300 footage. Does anyone know of any actual solution to this other than transcoding all the footage?

Because you've said you already "re-downloading":
1. Maybe you have to activate/deactivate, so please have a look there:
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
2, Sometimes, we know in the meantime, the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
3. Did you already try "uninstalling and re-installing"?
Be careful with (de)installing aso. by (de)installing by your own resources. As much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.
Please use: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html and follow the prescribed sequence of operations

Good luck!

Importing DVC PRO 50 footage into Premiere Pro
I recently imported some DVC PRO 50 footage into Premiere Pro. I used a rented DVC PRO 50 deck via firewire 400. The footage came in at 480 x 720. Is this the actual resolution of that format or is it the default setting in the Premiere Pro import module? A few months ago, I imported some HD footage from a tape format using the videographer's camera via Firewire. It also came in at 720 even though it was supposed to be 1080 footage. Is there a way to set a target resolution in the PP import module before importing? Or does it bring in whatever resolution the source has?
DVCPRO50 is standard definition footage at 50Mbps. So 720x480 is correct.

How Do you import C100 footage into Premiere Pro CC
I just tried importing Canon C100 footage into Premiere Pro CC, but get no sound. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and I pray I don't have to convert this footage before bringing it in. Is there a workflow anyone can recommend? Do I have to convert the footage first? Thanks, Lucian
Lucian,
PrPro should work natively with the Canon C100 footage ... it works with almost everything out there. And with the C100 shooting MP-4, AVCHD, & H.264, those are all handled easily by PrPro.
My question ... I would surmise (from what little info you include) you are shooting AVCHD? The reason I say this is that format splits audio & video into different files ... so it's a bit trickier to "import" than others that have the a & v in one file. Make sure you copied the whole top-leveL FOLDER and all sub-folders (not just the footage or contents of a folder) from the cam/card into the computer for AVCHD ... and then when you import into a project via the media browser your audio & video should be all connected by PrPro.
There have been numerous threads here where AVCHD users have "lost" their audio, only to find they'd simply left it behind by NOT copying all the folders & subfolders their camera had created. -
Flicker appears solely the fault of Premiere Pro CC 2014.2. Tested on different computers. Used as nVidia Quadro and GeForce GTX770. Drivers were different. Everywhere equally evident flicker. Incidentally, it defies logic and may occur at different film pieces. If re-render that flicker may occur on another spot in the video.
It can occur even in the parts without filters !!! But no all time.

MERCURY PLAYBACK ENGINE work fine! But still flickering in preview and render.
When waiting for fixes this bug?Hi Aleksey,
Flicker appears solely the fault of Premiere Pro CC 2014.2. Tested on different computers. Used as nVidia Quadro and GeForce GTX770. Drivers were different.
Have you tried with the Mercury Playback Engine set to "Software Only?" More info please: FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?
Everywhere equally evident flicker. Incidentally, it defies logic and may occur at different film pieces. If re-render that flicker may occur on another spot in the video.
Is this a brand new project or one you updated from an earlier version? What kind of footage are you exporting? Which preset are you using?
When waiting for fixes this bug?
If I can repeat the case here with the same hardware, GPU, and drivers, that would be easier to fix the bug. Currently, I cannot recreate the bug. If you or anyone else can provide me with steps to recreate the bug, that would help immensely. It sounds like this will be the difficult thing.
Thanks,

I cannot figure out how to edit my h.264 footage in Premiere Pro. Please help.
I have been trying to import AVI video into Premiere pro CS5. I have a new Dell Laptop with Windows 7. Every time I try to import the video into Premiere it only shows up as audio files. However, Windows Media Player plays the files just fine. I've tryed converting the files with Media Encoder but that sees the files as only audio files as well. I've used the G Spot program and it tells me that the Codec is the H264 codec and that the name is H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. It also tells me that the codec is already installed on my computer.
I've had problems trying to edit h.264 stuff for longer than I'd care to admit and I just want to figure it out once and for all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.Read the 2nd post for NEW ITEM pointer http://forums.adobe.com/thread/770072?tstart=0 and follow the instructions, to let PPro analyze the file for you
This is not going to help in the OP's circumstance; if the video doesn't play in Premiere, it's not going to magically start playing once dropped on the New Item button. That sets up a sequence with parameters that match the footage (is that what you mean by letting "PPro analyze the file?"), but Premiere is pretty black-or-white when it comes to format/codec support--it plays everywhere or it doesn't play at all.
If that were not true, DV footage would have to be edited only in a DV sequence, and AVCHD only in an AVCHD sequence. Of couse, that's not the case--sequences are format-agnostic. -
Using mini DV tape footage in Premiere Pro
Normally I shoot video as 720p 30fps and edit in Premiere Pro CC. In my present project I have some mini DV tape footage from a friend I'd like to incorporate, It was shot on his Panasonic PV-GS300 in the wide-screen (16:9) mode, and we'll be using that camera as a playback device. I do not have a firewire input on the computer, but the camera has a USB connector that I can probably use to capture.
I have not worked with DV in years (back in the old Premiere 6 days), and I am wondering what the best work flow is? Will Premiere Pro CC even capture DV anymore? I also need to mix the footage with 720p footage and am wondering how best to do that.
Any suggestions will be most appreciated. Thanks!PPro will only work with a Firewire port, not USB
From what I have read, any digitizing device that connects to a USB port will have to use the software that came with the device to capture the video... AND the files produced that way are often not compatible with PPro
Something like a http://www.grassvalley.com/products/converters works great... if you have a Firewire port -
Flickering footage in Premiere Pro CC 2014 but not in Premiere Pro CC 2013
Hi guys,
I've been having repeated issues with Premiere Pro CC 2014 on Windows. Basically my footage has a weird strobe/flicker when in the suite and when rendered off even although the footage looks fine, unaltered out of the camera. I rendered off the same footage in the 2013 edition of the software and there is no flicker/strobing going on. I've included one of the worst effected shots in CC 2014 and CC 2013 for comparison.I also experience graphical glitches occasionally when rendering. Please watch below:
Premiere Pro CC 2014 - strobing (300% speed, cropped 15%, RGB curve adjustment, software rendered)
YouTube
Premiere Pro CC 2013 - strobing (300% speed, cropped 15%, RGB curve adjustment, software rendered)
Premiere Pro CC 2013 - no flickering - YouTube
The footage was shot on a Nikon D3200 at 1080p 25fps, aperture 3.5, shutter 1/50, ISO 400.
Editing on a
Dell Optiplex 9020
Intel i5-4570 3.2 Ghz
4 gb Ram
Intel HD Graphics 4600
Windows 7
Has anyone else experienced this issue? My suspicion is an issue with either my graphics card or insufficient RAM.Thanks for posting that info. This mirrors the issues I'm seeing with DSLR footage.
It's so hit or miss if it's going to flicker. I'll delete renders and re-render and certain clips will be fine, others are now flickering. I tried to make a test project that demonstrated this issue, but couldn't reproduce the effect. RGB Curves and Three Way CC are in my list of effects, as well, where I see the issue.
Just curious, is anyone else working on projects started in other versions/computers? I've seen it on project started in PPro CC and finished in CC'14. Saw it again on a project started on Mac in FCP7, converted to CC'14 Win7. Quite honestly, I haven't been starting projects myself in CC'14 because of the flicker issues.
As a workaround, I was hoping to import the CC'14 project back into CC or Media Encoder CC, but no luck there.
Another issue I've had with CC'14 includes converting a CC project to CC'14, giving it to a CC'14 Mac user and the A/V sync is lost. We abandoned that collaboration all together because of the issues. CC'14 has been incredibly unproductive to my workflow, despite the great interface update and various other features added. I haven't had mystery issues like this since CS4. I'm keeping our post team in CC as much as possible until the issues are resolved.

Canon XA25 AVCHD footage in Premiere Pro CC ?
I shot some footage in AVCHD with the Canon XA25 and I would like to edit it in Premiere Pro CC. In the Media Browser though, there's no thumbnail and the clip is just called "private" - In FCP7 I can just open the log and transfer and easily convert to ProRES. Is there a way to easily deal with clips from this camera in Premiere? Thanks!
Hi TheWiseman,
Thanks for reply,
On the SD card is one file (the single video clip I shot) named "private" and that's it. I was looking at the clip in Premiere while still on the SD card, but you are saying to copy it to my HD first? Premiere stil won't know what to do with it though, right? Thanks.
The private file is actually folder and if you see in the MAC 10.8.5 as quicktime file.
Please right click on the Private and click show package content and you will see all the other folder inside that.
After renaming private folder to Private1 and you will also see all the contents.
Please reply if this works.
Thanks,

Canon 7D grainy footage in Premiere Pro CS6
Hi there,
I recently updated to CS6, I have some footage filmed on Canon 7D in full HD. I import into Premiere Pro 720p sequence and the untreated footage looks extremely grainy at full resolution playback. The same footage looks absolutely fine in Windows Media Player. Can you tell what wrongs?
Thanks,
MartinPlease NOTE that the PPro CS6 screen may look a bit different (I use CS5)

Which codec should I use to edit HD footage in Premiere Pro?
I am shooting with a Sony NXCAM which gives me AVCHD .MTS files. I am an old FCP user switching to Premiere Pro. I used to transcode the footage to Apple Pro Res 422 and most of my stock footage is now in this codec. I know Premiere Pro accepts all codecs but I need to offline my footage using the Project Manager. Can you tell me which is the best codec in Premiere pro to edit and transcode footage to now? The only one I can see that kind of matches is AVC INTRA - I 100.
Thanks for any suggestions,
AdamEdit in the codec you shot in ( source file) is good practice
Drag a clip onto the NEW ITEM ICON (bottom of Project Window) and PPRO will match up a sequence.
Good starting point. -
Porblems importing Canon C300 footage into Premiere Pro CC 2014: only import 30 seconds
Hi! I'm having problems importing Canon C300 footage into Adobe Premiere Pro 2014. I'm taking the files directly from the media browser to I can only import the first 30 seconds of each clip.
Why can be that? Do I need a specific plugin?
Thaks for your help

editorSince you did not perform the copy process yourself, my thinking is that maybe something went wrong when it was done. Far too many people don't understand or follow the process that works.
My recommendation would be to get your hands on the cards and do it again, making sure to use only Explorer or Finder for the task. -
Specific Video Footage in Premiere Pro CS5 completely black.
I've been working on a music video project in Premiere Pro CS5 for the past few months and everything has worked really well until just a few days ago, when a certain chunk of my high speed footage randomly turned black. I have it in its own bin so it's separated from my other video source files. If I try to preview these videos, all it shows is black footage (though the timelengths for each one are still correct). I checked and made sure the actual .avi files on my hard drive still worked, and they played through perfectly. I tried re-importing these videos into my project file and that didn't do anything. I made sure they were connected to the right files in the right folder on my computer, and they were. The rest of my video footage works just fine, so I'm confused why this certain bunch randomly turned completely black.
I backed up the entire project to an external hard drive and loaded it on a different computer with Premiere Pro CS6 on it, and everything works perfectly again. Does anybody have any idea how I can get my footage to return from the black abyss it's fallen into on my personal computer running CS5?AVI is a wrapper... what is inside your wrapper?
