Scaling/resizing images in slideshow

Hi,
I did my own website and now I'm doing my gf's website.
Note that I'm doing exactly the same than for my site but I have a problem now that I never had with my site.
My problem is this :
I place a new slideshow. When you resize the main image, your image is getting bigger with the frame that you're enlarging. I did it for my site because I wanted bigger images than how it comes when you place the slideshow. It worked.
Now it doesn't work for her site. So my solution was to copy the slideshow that I like from my site to her site. When i add her images in the slideshow, they are smaller than mine but my image is 1068x715 px and her image is 1032x709 px. So the size is quite the same but her image is really smaller.
I insert here 4 printscreens :
01 is the one with my image
02 is the one with her image (in the same slideshow, as you can see it's smaller)
03 and 04 are printscreens to show that these images are quite the same size.

Thanks for your help

  • How to get crisp jpeg images for slideshow on a Mac with Final Cut?

    Hi, I imported a large number of jpegs into Final Cut Pro and when I export to Quicktime Movie (not modifying the sequence size or settings I notice the quality of the jpeg images looks rather washed out and a bit fuzzy. The image dimensions of the jpegs are actually 2848 x 4272 and I was originally using a sequence setting of 720 by 480 (which scaled the images to about 12%). I experimented with doubling the sequence setting to 1440 by 960 and scaled the images to about 25.5% - still a bit washed out look.
    Basically this will be a presentation on a computer and output via projection. Looking for best possible and clearest photos. I experimented with iPhoto and when you play a slideshow it looks very crisp - this is what I am aiming for. When I export using the Slideshow export at the largest size 640 by 480 in iPhoto to quicktime - the quality seriously deteriorates.
    What would be the best way to maintain the crispness of the photos in Final Cut for an export to Quicktime that would be show on a Mac via a projector? Thank you

    Hi Nick, I do see information on creating a slideshow with Quicktime at: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/slideshow.html
    however it appears Quicktime X removed that capability. There is no 'open image sequence' option from the File menu in Quicktime X.
    If I do end up sticking with Final Cut - would you recommend any codec and/or dimension size that would result in the best quality or the most crisp image? I also need a few fade in's and out's on various parts - I don't believe I would have the control without Final Cut.
    Would resizing the image files in Photoshop to 1920 pixels by 1280 before importing them into Final Cut result in crisper images? Thanks.

  • Point me in the right direction: want to resize image & store in mysql db

    I finally accomplished one of my tasks! Which was trying to upload a jpeg image into my mysql database, and then display it in a jsp page via a servlet. I extend my thanks to the java forums greatly:)
    Now my next task I find is going to be trickier to accomplish, because I do not have enough experience working with images.
    I would like to make my first task above more efficient.
    When the user selects a jpeg file to send, I want to check the size of the image and resize it as well, before finally storing it in my Mysql database.
    I do not want to lose the resolution, nor do I want it to look distorted after it is resized. I want to keep the same proportions as the original image (I hope that proportion is the proper term). After the image is stored successfully, it will be read out of the database and displayed within a jsp page via a servlet.
    After poking around in the forums, I realized I need to get down the basics with regards to getting the properties of an image and trying to resize it. It doesn't look like it will be an easy task.
    Does anyone know of any sites that provide a good, easy to understand tutorial? Or are there any books you would recommend I read? What Java classes should I be looking into to accomplish my task?
    There are so many far more experienced programmers out there among the forums, that when I look at their code, I'm lost. I just want to understand this process better, by taking it one step at a time.
    Any help is appreciated, as always:)
    Thank You,
    Love2Java

    Load image with ImageIO
    Call getWidth() and getHeight()
    Create a BufferedImage with width and height scaled accordingly
    Get the image's Graphics2D object
    Call drawImage(), passing an AffineTransform to scale accordingly
    Output the image via ImageIO
    That should be it - you just need to read the APIs for the classes I've mentioned, and tack on whatever input/output streams you need at either end (see the java.io package).
    The only thing is:
    I do not want to lose the resolution
    Not totally sure what you mean: if you're scaling the image down to a thumbnail then by definition you're losing resolution. If you mean you want to keep the DPI resolution metadata in the image then you'll have to Google for it, the information is there but it hasn't remained in my head :o)
    But then I can't imagine why you'd need DPI metadata in a thumbnail anyway, so you can probably ignore it.

  • Resized images and video seam blurred in motion 4...

    Hello,
    I don't know if my problem is a bug or a stupid mistake I did, or something basic I haven't understood about motion, but here it is:
    I had to edit today a project I created in september 2009 with motion 3. (I installed 2 weeks ago motion 4). The project is made of images and text. When I opened the old project the images looked ok but seamed blurred although the render settings are at best quality.
    I then made an experiment and created a new project in Motion 4 and imported one image, and when I put the quality at best, again this image look unfocused. I would probably not have noticed the problem and thought that the problem comes from the image or from the capabilities of motion, if I didn't have that old video done in motion 3 with the exact same images in the exact same size in perfect crisp quality...
    I did a research in forums, but haven't found any one with a similar problem. People usually have pixelated images because they didn't put the best render quality...
    I then tried to test this on a different computer with motion 4: same problem. I tried all the settings I could find in Motion, but still no result. I trash the preferences, I repaired the permission of my mac, I reinstalled motion 4, tried several images format and size but still no result.
    I noticed that the problem occurs when I resize an image or when I resize a video. At 100% I get perfect quality, but when I resize them, they look blurred. Anything that requires a render seam to be a little blurred when the render quality is set to best. It seams like the anti-aliasing is working so well that it blurs everything... If I put the quality at normal settings, the elements that have been resized look sharp but pixelated...
    I haven't tried to test all this again in motion 3 because I don't have access to any computer that still have that version installed. And I haven't phoned applecare yet because they are closed right now in my country, but I will phone them tomorrow morning and let you know if I get any result with them.
    I really hope I simply forgot something obvious, or maybe there is a new or old setting in motion 4 that I don't know about or haven't understood properly...
    please help me
    Louie
    ps: My version of Motion is French, so I might not use the right english words used in the english version of Motion.

    Thanks for responding.
    I'm of course sizing my picture down. The project I was working on yesterday that helped me notice the problem is 300x300 pixels and the images are around 500x1000 pixels, scaled down to around 20%.
    I haven't notice today that the problem occurs in other project as well. Before I was not looking in detail at the quality, and if no one tells you about it, you won't notice it. But right now all my old projects done in Motion 3, once opened in Motion 4 seam to have that blurry effect on any image or video that is scaled down.
    I understand that Motion might maybe not be very good at scale down things, and might do it less perfetly then Photoshop. But what is odd is that all my old video exported when I had Motion 3 have sharp perfect scaled down images comparred to what I get today in Motion 4.
    The blur I'm speaking about is very light. You won't notice it easily unless you have an old version of the same video to compare it with. But in the project I was working yesterday at 300x300 pixel, the difference was really very obvious, because at this size every detail counts.
    My idea to solve my problem temporarly was to change my Motion project settings to triple its original size (from 300x300 to 900x900) and blow up everthing 300%, export the video at 900x900 and then scale it down through Quicktime instead of Motion at 300x300. This worked and my images are as sharp as they should be. This project is short and light, so I didn't mind doing this conversion, but when I will work with projects that need more render time, it's not a productiv way to work!
    I noticed another odd thing about the problem, I hope I will explain this clearly by describing 3 situations:
    1. I create in Motion 4 a new project with any preset.
    2. I import an image or a video
    3. I scale it down, by pulling one corner (=> the image or video becomes blurred)
    4. In the properties inspector I type the word "100" to get it back to 100%
    => the image is still blurred, it is difficult to see, but when I import again the same image and put it next to it you can see a difference althought both image are at 100%!!!
    or
    1. I create in Motion 4 a new project with any preset.
    2. I import an image or a video
    3. I scale it down, by pulling one corner (=> the image or video becomes blurred)
    4. In the properties inspector I click on the arrow in the top right corner of that reverts to the original settings the image or video
    => the image is perfect
    or
    1. I create in Motion 4 a new project with any preset.
    2. I import an image or a video
    3. I scale it down, by typing any number in the properties inspector (=> the image or video becomes blurred)
    4. In the properties inspector I type the word "100" to get it back to 100%
    => the image is perfect
    So it seams that my problem occurs even at 100% but only if the image has first been modified in its size by pulling one corner and than put back to 100% through the properties inspector...
    hmmmm
    very odd.

  • Change position images in slideshow

    Hello,
    I am trying to change the position of the images in my slideshow, but I don't know how I can do this.
    Does anyone have an idea?
    Thanks in advance!

    You can resize and reposition both the Hero Image container and the Image inside that (by double-clicking the Hero Image).
    Although your Hero Image size/position is fixed for all the images in slideshow, you can definitely move/resize the actual images inside individually. See if that helps you get it to work for you in the Slideshow itself.
    Else you can always for go the Composition Widget which allows you to place individual target slides in different positions and have different sizes.
    Cheers,
    Vikas

  • How do I replace images in slideshow with retina resolution images?

    When I use a retina.js script to replace .png images with @2x.png images in a slideshow, only the first image shown is replaced with retina res image. Is there a way to replace all?

    You can use CSS to make the other images retina. You need to downlaod the index.css file from the CSS folder then add code to it that has the width and height of the scaled down image like this:
    /* Slide 3 home */
    img#u9095_img.block {
              width: 490px;
              height: 506px;
    I have got it working but for some reason the images seem to inconsistantly show in my browsers. See how it works for you.

  • Resizing Images for Websites

    I am creating a website for a Family Farm. I was wondering if there is any good way to resize images using iPhoto for quicker loading times in websites. Most of the images I want to use are from a digital camera and are huge files.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. As Dalya mentioned using the File->Export->File Export menu option will let you set the pixel dimension and quality level (amount of jpeg compression) to achieve small files for web use.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Resizing image: sloooooooow

    hi, i'm using the following code to resize an image:
    http://nopaste.easy-coding.de/?id=91
    my machine:
    p4 2.8ghz, ht enabled
    kernel 2.4.22
    jdk 1.4.2_04
    unfortunatly, i've got the following times:
    scaling image: 1280 * 1024 to 640*480
    getScaledInstance: 157 msec
    drawImage: 53559 msec
    dispose: 0 msec
    resizing image took: 54880 msec
    is something wrong in my code?
    and does the code depend on a running x-server? (heard something like that a few times)
    (i need to resize an image in a servlet and the server has definitly no x-server in background)

    The difference between JDK 1.4.2 and 1.5 is only marginal (about half a second) no need to upgrade.
    Time measurement using currentTimeMillis is also far from precise, as you see in the output of running the same app 4 times :
    wyd@rebooter:~/tmp> java IR
    scaling image: 1133 * 1676 to 640*480
    getScaledInstance: 1837 msec

  • I am working with images around 4,000 x 4,000 pixels. Upon resizing, images get pixelated. HELP!

    Uni student here. Doing a video for a model photoshoot and it seems that whenver I attempt to resize my large images, the image becomes noticeably pixelated. How can I avoid this?

    Uni student here. Doing a video for a model photoshoot and it seems that whenver I attempt to resize my large images, the image becomes noticeably pixelated.
    What does "pixelated" mean? sorry, this is far too vague. Any resizing operation causes resampling no matter whether it's up or down, but specific procedures affect it more than others. Conversely even "scaling" your image in the comp preview to display it smaller in your comp at 50% or whatever res you use will introduce further artifacts, not to speak stuff to do with pixel aspect ratio conversions, hardware accelerated display and what have you... You need to provide a lot more info and screenshots. We don't even know what version of AE you are using on what system. As a start, set your comp res and zoom to 100% when you do your scaling and judge quality this way. Everything else would be pointless. If you still see issues, clarify and provide the necessary details.

  • How do I resize image?

    How do I resize image from 720 to 1080 in after effects?

    Have you tried using the Scale property? Click the arrow to the left of a layer's name to expand its properties. Alternatively you can click on the layer in the timeline and press the "s" key to expand the Scale property for that layer. By default, scaling retains the original proportions; if you wish to disable this and scale something out or proportion then uncheck the little "constrain proportions" icon in the Scale property.
    An even easier way is to simply click on a layer in the composition view and drag the small boxes at the edges of the layer.

  • Which approach to use for resizing image

    There are two ways of resizing images as I know:
    1. image.getScaledInstance(width,height,hint);
    Using hint like Image.SCALE_AREA_AVERAGING gives somehwat satisfactory resizing.
    2. static BufferedImage resize(GraphicsConfiguration gc, BufferedImage source, int w, int h, Object hintValue) {
    BufferedImage result = gc.createCompatibleImage(w, h, source.getTransparency());
    Graphics2D g2 = result.createGraphics();
    g2.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_INTERPOLATION, hintValue);
    double sx = (double) w / source.getWidth(), sy = (double) h / source.getHeight();
    g2.drawRenderedImage(source, AffineTransform.getScaleInstance(sx, sy));
    g2.dispose();
    return result;
    where the hint passed is RenderingHints.VALUE_INTERPOLATION_BILINEAR ;
    Now which of the two method method should I use-using image.getScaledInstance() or using AffineTranform ? opr is there any other way which is faster but provides good result?
    i am creating an image editor, so the GUI dialog will have oprtion to choose the algorithm. I want the method which provides better result yet faster.

  • Need help on quality of resized image!!

    I am required to resize images to max 1240pixel (longest dimension) as a submission of work, though when work is viewed it will be at 30"x40".  Can not figure out a way to do this where images don't become quite pixelated when viewed at larger size.   Appreciate any suggestions.

    Is there some software to verify if my graphics card is shotty?
    Techtool Pro has some testing, the AHT tests VRAM, but game benchmarks and stressing will tell you the most.
    Is re-seating the graphics card or memory worth trying?
    Absolutely. Just don't reinstall the graphics card until you clean it thoroughly.
    Cleaning the dust out of my machine?
    YES. A dust filled graphics card heatsink will cause the GPU to cook, and cause problems thet you describe.
    If I need a new graphics card, what are my options? Do I have to purchase it via Apple store? I would like to stick with an Nvidia card so am I stuck buying the same card I currently have or can I upgrade?
    You don't have to buy from Apple, but using with OS X limits your choices to Mac compatible or flashable PC versions.
    There is an awful lot of user input into this topic here:

    I need some help resizing my images on PS6. I am using a mac and have been trying to resize with same resolution and constaining proportions but for some reaseon the smaller resized image appears pizelated. Heres an image of before and after. The first image I use is a JPG 72dpi 1500px x1500px and I want to downsize it to 600x600px same res, but it keeps pixelating, this has never happened before. Any suggestions, thoughts?
    thanks!

    I wouldn't say pixelated; more like blurry.
    Like ConnectedCreative said, what steps are you using? Are you using "bicubic sharper" when resizing down?

  • Upload and Resize Image not inserting filename in database

    I have a form that I created using the insert record form wizard. One of the fields is a file field and my form enctype is set to multipart/form-data. I then used the upload and resize image behavior and set the parameters. When testing the form the file uploads to the correct directory but no entry is made into the database for that particular field. The other fields are entered into the database just fine. If it helps, here is the code generated before the  tag:

    If the reason is about memory, warning message should be happened when upload the image, because "show thumbnail" means resize at second time, how come you failed to resize the picture that system let it upload succeed at the first time by the same resize process?
    upload procedure
    a.jpg: 2722x1814, 1.2mb
    upload condition: fixed width 330px, 1.5mb
    "upload and resize" a.jpg -> file upload -> "resize engine" -> passed (but not work and no warning message)
    "show thumbnail" a.jpg -> "resize engine" -> failed (not enough memory)
    it doesn't make sense.
    and you miss an important key point, I upload the same picture myself, and resize work, so I said it happened at random, and that's why I am so worried.
