Scam Spam - download video player message

Occasionally I get a voice message from something like "m15133627527795".
It states:
"Automated notification. New video message received. To view video messages install video player at msgot.com".
That is a VERY RISKY LINK and I would NOT INSTALL the offered software when you go to that link. It is clearly not a Skype site (nor any other trustworthy site).
Unless someone corrects me, it appears to me like this will install something on your machine that you definitely don't want.
Has anyone else gotten this?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

and all you need to have to play video messages is the Skype software installed.  No need to download and install any external/3rd party software.
IF YOU FOUND OUR POST USEFUL THEN PLEASE GIVE "KUDOS". IF IT HELPED TO FIX YOUR ISSUE PLEASE MARK IT AS A "SOLUTION" TO HELP OTHERS. THANKS!

How to download video player stream for ipad for free?

Most such tutorials that I've seen are done as self-contained apps. For instance, the ones from this company:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/appdesigner.com-inc./id361068165
All such apps are delivered via the iTunes Store, which binds an app to the purchaser's iTunes Store account so the app can't be shared with anyone else. You can learn more about developing and selling apps for iOS here:

Install Flash Play by default will open Flash Player auto update, if there is a new version Flash player on the web, your browser will prompt to download the latest version flash player. so you receive download flash player message.
if you want to disable Adobe Flash player auto update, please follow  this guide.

  • I keep getting a message about video player update. What's going on? Why do I need this? Prove that I do - too many viruses out there to just download something

A page keeps popping up saying FIREFOX wants me to download this video player. I'm leery of downloading anything these days with the Heartbleed virus out there

If you get a pop-up message asking to update or install other software then such a message is likely a scam and you should never respond to such an alert to avoid getting infected with malware.
You should only update Firefox via "Help > About" or by downloading and installing Firefox from the Mozilla server and never via a pop-up or link on a web page.

I can't download videos to Real Player. The settings are correct and i can download in Internet Explorer 7 with no problem but not FireFox 5...any ideas??

I'm still experiencing this problem.  I went to settings, general, software and it says Install now.  But when I try, I get an error message.

  • I am getting annoying popups from a site in Spain claiming Firefox recommends I download an updated video player from them. Looks like SPYWARE! MAKE IT STOP!

It explains things on my end. I hope you guys are not in on this. It's intrusive and rather pushy at that. I don't feel I should have to download another video player. The name of the company is updatevideos<i></i>.com. I went there and it took me to api<i></i>.adrenalads<i></i>.com and then to mojopages<i></i>.com!!! If some lumphead is trying to get over on me , I ain,t buyin'!!!
    THANKS, Andy

Hi rimshot69, did you check for an extension in Firefox? To see whether one of those might be involved, you could try one of the following:
    (1) Manually Disable ALL nonessential and/or unrecognized extensions on the following screen. If in doubt, disable:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
Then restart Firefox using the handy links provided for that purpose and see whether the messages stop.
    (2) Test in Firefox's Safe Mode
That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    Any difference?
You also may want to run some supplemental scans. These three tools are highly regarded (and free):

  • The video downloading is extremely slow after downloading Flash Player Active X (IE) and FP Plug-in

I have Windows 7 on a 64-bit operating system, and have Firefox 19 and Internet Explorer 8. I tried installing Flash Player 11.6.602.171 from the Adobe Website and got an error message right at 47% download "can not contact reliable source." I also tried uninstalling whatever Flash Player I had, but I continued to get the same error message at 47% "can not contact reliable source." Finally, following the advice found in the link below under "Program Bar Hangs During Download," I downloaded Flash Player ActiveX (internet explorer) and Flash Player Plug-In (all other browsers). It appeared that both downloads were successful and I verified that the installation was complete in the link below under "Verify that installation is complete." It says I have Flash Player 11.6.602.171. My issue now is that whenever I watch videos that use Flash Player, the downloading of videos is extremely slow.  For example, a 45 second youtube video might take 30 minutes to watch. I have tried everything (from General Info, Download Issues, Installation Issues, Post-Installation Issues) in this Adobe installation problem page http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html but the problem has not improved. Can someone please help me? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

First, I went on this link under Progress Bar Hangs During Download
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header
and then I downloaded Flash Player directly by clicking the links provided Flash Player for ActiveX (IE) and then Flash Player Plug-In (All browsers).  After my installations were complete, I tried watching any youtube videos or videos on www.ABC.com and the loading of videos was extremely slow.

  • Adobe Flash/Player Messages To Download

Running OSX 10.8.3 on a 3.4GHz Intel Core i7 and I keep receiving messages to download Adobe Flash since it's out of date.  I continue to receive these messages despite the fact that I've downloaded numerous times to correct the errors.  I often have this problem on CNN too and still cannot play their videos.  Can someone pipe in an help a needy person out?  LOL.
    Thanks in Advance!

This morning we resolved a problem that prevented Flash Player installations from completing for some of our Macintosh users.
If you encountered this problem, please delete any previously downloaded Flash Player installer and either:
1.)      Download the installer again from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
    2.)      Download the stand-alone installer from  http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg

When I try to download flash player, I get a screen with the

    Source File:

Line: 851" If I click on this message, the following text is
    highlighted: ".dash li{ _padding-left:0ex ; _padding-right:1ex; }"

  • Can the video player for FlashDVD be configured to show download progress?

The video I'm using for a FlashDVD is about 1GB in f4v format, so it takes awhile to fully download. It's choppy until it's fully downloaded. It would be nice if the video player used for FlashDVDs showed the progress of the background dowloading of the video, the same way that all other video players do.
Is this configurable, or is it showing, but the colors are so subtle that I can't see it?
Can this be configured so I can see a clear progress for the download?

I'm guessing, but my guess is "no." I am assuming it is not present currently.
Configuring the progress bar ends up with code in the swf. It COULD be made configurable by putting variables for the code in the theme.xml, but it is not.

You can't download plugins. If the built-in Videos app doesn't support the type of video that you want to play, then try searching the App Store for a video or browser app that supports the type of video that you want to play.
