  • Unable to Completely Scan Legal Size Documents with Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

I am trying scan legal sized documents on my new Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. I have reviewed the forums, and this has been a recurring problem in the past (see link---  http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-and-Copying/Scanning-Legal-Size-Documents/m-p/35416#M14...   ), but does not appear to be resolved. Whether I use the document feeder or the glass, the document is cut off at the bottom, and appears to be stopping at the 'A4' size, vs. legal. I cannot locate any setting on the scanner itself, or in the HP Utility software to change this, or even to be able to identify the current setting, if it is one.
I am using a Mac Pro, system 10.6.8, just installed and started using the printer a couple of days ago, and everything is up to date software-wise. Everything else on this machine has been working beautifully.
Can anyone identify what's going on here and how to correct it?
Thanks for your help--I specifically chose this particular unit over the next model down due to the legal sized glass/bed, and if I can't use it to scan legal docs, well, that's a problem. Thanks for your help!

    Hello,
    Please try the following steps:
    1. Open the HP Utility and select your device.
    2. From Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
    3. Click the "Scan Tasks" tab.
    4. Select the Scan Shortcut used to scan, then click Edit.
    5. In the section of Scan from an HP Device click on the blue triangle to enlarge the menu.
    6. From the enlarged menu now open the drop-down menu next to Crop To and set as None.
    7. Click OK and try scanning again.
Please let me know of any change,
    Shlomi

  • Hard disk failure, ran scan, now no documents

    Toshiba Satellite T135-S1300, Windows 7
My computer started acting funny, error messages started popping up, and then a window popped up saying the hard disk failed and I needed to run a scan to prevent data loss.  After the scan, all my documents are gone.  "My computer" still shows the hard disk as being about as full as it was before, so I'm guessing the files are on there somewhere.  Please help!
    Thanks in advance,

Crap, you were right.  It was this:
    Win32/FakeSysdef
I googled the name of the Trojan for a solution.  For anyone else who has this problem, you need to remove the virus first (duh), but in my case Windows Security Essentials detected the Trojan but didn't remove it all for some reason.  I ran the ESET Online Scanner after WSE and it still detected it, and appears to have removed it completely.  Then download and run "Unhide" to get your icons back.

  • How do I scan and email documents on my canon mx870? I have a MAC OS X 10.7.5 and it is connected with a usb cable to the printer. Thank you so much!

How do I scan and email documents on my canon mx870? I have a MAC OS X 10.7.5 and it is connected with a usb cable to the printer. Thank you so much!

Hi, I have 10.6.8 and an HP printer so it may be slightly different but I'll give it my best shot:
    Go to System Preferences.
    Click on "Print & Fax"
Near the top of that page you should see "Print" and "Scan" options. Click "Scan"
A button appears that says "open scanner"
The settings are different between the different scanner models so I'm not sure what the next window will look like, but it should be pretty straightforward from there. It will scan to a JPEG image which you can attach to an email. I hope that helps! Let me know if there's anything ense I can help with.

  • I've been sent a scan of a document as an attachment. Clicking on it, I get the message, "Pixel aspect ration correction is for preview purposes only. Turn it off for maximum image quality." What is pixel aspect ration and how do I turn it off?

I've been sent a scan of a document as an attachment. Clicking on it, I get the message, "Pixel aspect ration correction is for preview purposes only. Turn it off for maximum image quality." What is pixel aspect ration and how do I turn it off?

It's "aspect ratio", not aspect "ration".
It's what determines whether you have square pixels ("normal") or, if rectangular pixels, what the aspect ratio (width : length)  of that rectangle is.
It's explained in the Help files.  I cannot go into more detail because you have neglected to provide information about your platform and exact version of Photoshop.

  • Problem Scanning Duplex Printed Document

I would appreciate help with the problem described below. Problem: Scanning duplex printed document scans first page Perfectly but second page comes out solid black. OS: Windows 7

Thank You for the advice. I called technical help and Jesse spent considerable time and effort to help me solve the problem. The final verdict is that their is a hardware glitch, not software, The nearest Canon repair center is apparently in some place called Lake Forest, CA.  I was born and lived all my life in Southern CA and never heard of Lake Forest. It must be in Northern CA so I can't simply take it in to the shop for repairs. Jesse informed me of a consumer loyalty discount available if I should wish to purchase a new printer.

  • How scan a text document and save as editable text not image

I have a new ENVY 5660 and a macbook pro running yosemite.  When I scan a text document and try to save it, I am only given a choice of image formats.  How can I save it as an editable text in pages or word?

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you are wondering how to scan a text document, and save as editable text, and not a image, with your HP Envy 5660, on Mac OS X 10.10. I am happy to look into this for you!  According to your printer's specifications, it states: NOTE: Integrated OCR software is available only with Officejet 5740 and 8040 models. Which means, this software is not included with this printer. You might be able to perform this operation, if you are able to get third-party OCR software. Such as: ReadIris.  Hope this answers your question!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”

  • How can I groupe several PDF's together in 1 file - without re-scanning all the documents?

Yes, as Bernd suggested you can download Acrobat XI 30 day trial from Adobe.com http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=acrobat_pro&loc=en (Windows) to check if that meets your requirements.

  • MB2320 - Scanning multi-page documents and saving as a single, page-consecutive PDF

I just purchased and set up a Maxify MB2320 to replace my PIXMA MX892, which fell victim to the dreaded "Incorrect Printer Head - U062 Error." My only disappointment thus far is the replacement of "MP Navigator" with "Canon Quick Toolbox" and the unavailability of ADF-AutoDuplex scans. My problem: I've searched the instructions, tried the "Document," "Custom," and "ScanGear" utilities and cannot figure out how to scan multiple-page documents, have the scanned images appear in a single place where they can be put into sequential order, and save the whole mess into a single PDF file that can filed and saved in a folder designated by me. I'd very much appreciate a step-by-step tutorial on how to do that. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your prompt response and suggested solution. It worked! (One of the reasons I got lost is that the CSR I spoke to when I called initially sent me straight to the "ScanGear" tab in the "IJ Scan Utility," rather than "DocumentScan" (not "ScanDocument.") Couple other observations. When I installed the utilities onto my laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium SP-1, the shortcuts were installed to the Hidden Icons Folder in the System Tray, not the Desktop; I can pin the utility to the taskbar or add it to the Start Menu, but I can't create a shortcut for the Desktop by right-clicking. Also, after scanning two double-sided pages manually for the saved PDF, I was able to rearrange the pages into proper order mostly because the pages were graphically distinct enough to tell them apart in the thumbnails. This would be impossible for pages that are all-text, since the thumbnail images are so small. Is there a way to make the utility windows any larger, or otherwise make the thumbnail images readable? Thanks again.

  • Scan a paper document to PDF

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/pro/using/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7f71.w.h tml

    Hi John,
    Very helpful page.
In fact, I was looking for a way to scan double-sided documents on a popular Samsung multifunction printer (CLX-3170), which does not support automatic duplex scanning.
Then I was pleased to find this piece of information on Adobe's support site:
You can scan both sides of pages even on scanners that do not themselves support two-sided scanning. When Both Sides is selected, a dialog box appears after the first sides are scanned. You can then reverse the original paper documents in the tray, and select the Scan Reverse Side (Put Reverse Of Sheets) option in that dialog box. This method produces a PDF with all pages in the proper sequence.
The only issue is that even after installing the driver from Samsung on my Mac running 10.8.2 (well the driver from Samsung is labelled for 10.7, but Lion and Mountain Lion are not supposed to be fundamentally different version of the same operating system OS X), I keep getting the following error message after selecting the "Samsung Universal Scan Driver" or the "Samsung CLX-3170 Series" as scanner drivers in the Acrobat Scan dialogue box:
    "Warning
Scanner device is not responding. Please check that it is turned on and connected to computer."
    And afte clicking Cancel:
"Error while interacting with the scanner:
the selected scanner was not found."
Hmmm. It would be really nice to get this running. But how? Please advise.
    Best wishes,
    Steffen

  • When I scan an A4 document the resulting pdf is cropped - shorter but wider

when I scan an A4 document the resulting pdf is cropped - shorter but wider. As if it were a US letter size. How can I correct this?

I've now discovered that problem occurs when I go to 'Create pdf from Scanner' in Acrobat and then, say, just chose 'colour document' or 'black and white' and the scanning then starts.
If instead I choose 'custom scan' instead, you get a whole new screen up where you can choose your printer, paper size etc. It's noticeable that the default paper size here is set to 'letter'. When I change this to A4, it scans the document fully - kpow problem solved!
A bit tortuous, but at least I can now scan a whole A4 page properly. There doesn't seem to be a way to change this default from 'letter' such that I don't need to keep going into 'custom scan' every time I want to scan a document. If I could do this, my problems would be truly solved.
