SCAN Feature - Clarification

Have a confusion in the output of v$configured_interconnects in Oracle 11g Release 2
I am having a 2 node oracle rac configured and using the SCAN feature with 3 SCAN VIPs.
SCAN VIP 1 is configured in Node 1 and SCAN VIP 2 & 3 are in Node 2.
From Instance # 1 the output of the query "Select Name, IP_Address from V$configured_interconnects" looks like this.

Please let me know is there any issues in the output of the query in the 2 instances.
My findings
1. VIP of Node 1 is present in both the outputs.
2. SCAN IP 3 (100.101.21.60) is missing in the output from Instance 2.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand you are not able to scan with your HP Officejet 8600, you are using the Windows 8.1 Operating system and it was working fine and now when you attempt the scan you get an error 'Trying to establish connection'.

    That would be a function of the driver that came with the printer. Make sure you have the latest driver appropriate to your system, either from HP or:

    Hello pf1tarac, I don't believe that is possible. In order to create a PDF file, you would need Adobe Acrobat or some other PDF compatible product to save a scan to the PDF format.
    There are some free PDF programs available.  Here  is a link to one of them.

  • Does the SCAN feature in 11gR2 provide session failover?

    I setup a two-node RAC environment (11.2.0.2), and I can successfully connect to it using Single Client Access Name (SCAN). My clients' tnsnames.ora is as simple as:
    RAC =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = cluster-scan)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = rac)
    I was told by the senior DBA that SCAN provides session failover. By that I mean: suppose there are two nodes, and I have a client establish a connection through sqlplus in another machine (client version 11.2.0.2 as well), eg:
    sqlplus system/password@rac
    I then use something like "SELECT host_name, instance_name FROM v$instance" to figure out which instance I am connected to and I shutdown that instance by running "shutdown abort" there. The expected behavior is for that client to automatically switch to the surviving node (*in the same session*).
    However, it doesn't work that way. Instead, the next SQL statement issued in that sqlplus session results in a "ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel." I managed to have it failover automatically, without adding anything (eg: FAILOVER_MODE) in the clients' tnsnames files by creating a service with TAF using srvctl:
    srvctl add service -d rac -s ractaf -P BASIC -m BASIC -e SELECT -z 5 -w 120
    But I have been told this step is not necessary with 11gR2, and session failover should occur automatically if I installed the grid infrastructure and set up SCAN correctly. But I haven't been able to find anything in the documentation indicating this is the case. So, does the SCAN feature in 11gR2 provide session failover?

    I think you are right because session failover is a service property linked to cluster database instances and not a scan listener feature that basically establish connection with right instance.

  • Scan feature on 8600 All-in-One won't work

    My scan feature on my 8600 stopped working. It was working fine last week. It prints and faxes fine. When I try to do a new scan, my laptop says it is trying to establish connection. But a connection is never established. So the scan fails. I'm running Windows 8.1. I use the scan feature regularly for my job. So I need a quick solution or unfortunately I'm off to buy another printer. Thanks.

    You have to scan from its software
    Scan by using the HP Scan software (Windows)
    Use the HP Scan software to initiate scanning from software on your computer. You can save the scanned
    image as a file or send it to another software application.
    1. Load the document on the scanner glass according to the indicators on the product.
    NOTE: For best results, load small-size paper (Letter, A4, or smaller) with the long edge of the paper
    along the left side of the scanner glass.
    2. Click Start, and then click Programs (or All Programs in Windows XP).
    3. Click HP, and then select your product.
    4. Click HP Scan, select a scanning shortcut, and then adjust the settings if necessary.
    5. Click Scan.

    When doing the migration using Oracle Migration Workbench, get the following warning:

    Message: Index Warning : IX3_REQ; The Migration Workbench has identified that IX3_REQ supports reverse scans. The Migration Workbench does not support the migration of the reverse scans feature for indexes.
    What option do I have to use in Oracle script 'behind the covers' to have the DB2 feature of 'allow reverse scans' for indexes?

    Why is the "ALLOW REVERSE SCANS" in the original DB2 index definition in the first place? To retrieve rows in sorted order? Or to enable index scans in descending/opposite order? The MWB isn't clairvoyant. This is one of those situations where someone has to dig into what was the primary objective to come up with the correct case for Oracle. It may be that Oracle DB doesn''t need any "extra" adjectives to give you want you want. However, the MWB should not throw away things willy-nilly unless know for sure it is superfluous.
    [ By default the CREATE INDEX statemnt in Oracle DB creates a b-tree index.. which is probably what you want.  ]
    Very likely this is a performance tweak. One thing to do is to track down where the "hot spots" are in Oracle (which don't have to be the same as they were in DB2) before spending a very large amount of time on this issue. It is an issue to track though.
    If you take your new, perhaps under performing desired levels, Oracle SQL query's explain plan that you aren't happy about to one o the DB forums and ask what you can do to speed it up you'll likely get some helpful responses.

    Is there a way to disable the "overview" scan feature?  I would just like to click scan and have the flatbed scanner scan the document one time.

    i recently purchased an HP Photosmart D110a. I  am using Windows 7 32 bit, SP1. I am direct connected by USB cable. While Print and Copy work fine, the Scan feature (Scan to PC) does not, always returnining the meesage "Try Scan from Computer. I'. I've spent 7 hours over 3 days with Tech Support and Case Manager and nothing has changed. HP replaced the device with a new one, no change. Is anybody else experiencing this problem?
    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    You think we have this amazing ability to look at a 1000+ line program and instantly, mentally debug it? Or are willing to compile and single-step through your code to point out things that are wrong? There's a limit to how lazy you can be and expect help.
    Here's a clue: put lots and lots of System.out.println()s in your code. At every stage, write out the values of variables. Look at the output as your program runs. Maybe that'll give you a clue as to what is going wrong.
    Once you have narrowed down the problem to a particular statement, and you still can't understand why that statement is doing what it is doing, then post a specific question about that statement, and explain exactly what values the variables are before going in to that statement, and what comes out, and what you think should come out. Then we can explain why it's doing what it's doing.

  • Officejet Pro L7590 Scan feature does not work after power failure!

    Hello guys,
    I have an L7590 set up as a wired network printer through a netgear router. I am running Windows Xp. I installed the printer and everithing was working fine, but whenever there is a power outage the printer scanner does not see the computer. I am able to print from the computer but the twain feature is the only thing affected. I checked the router "Attached devices" and the printer is listed. The only way that I have being able to repair the problem is doing a complete uninstall and reinstalling the printer software again. Does anybody knows why this happpens or how to fix it? thanks a lot.

    I am having a very similar problem.  Everything will be working fine, and then one day the scan function will not work.  It will print fine but it wont scan.  It locks up my computer and then I have to reinstall.  Now it has happened and I cant get it to work even after a reinstall.  Printer works fine, but scanning wont work.  I am able to ping the printer and nothing has changed on my computer.  I am lost with this one.  I hope someone is able to answer this.

  • FRUSTRATED!!! HP 6700 Scanning feature not working with my MAC

    I just bought the HP Officejet 6700 at COSTCO primarily for its claimed scanning capabilities.  The first frustrating warning was that the CD included with the device was not accepted by my IMac.  So, I after a half hour of downloading time, I finally was able to set up the printing and Fax capabilities, but NOT the Scanning.  The scanner software is evidently there, but it will not recognize the printer/"scanner" even when I click the browse button.  
    Before I send it back to COSTCO, I just want to make sure that I'm not missing something here.  
    And, is there anyway to call HP for live support?

    I have spend the afternoon trying to re-create the issue you are experiencing with no luck. I have downloaded and installed the HP Officejet 6700 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver - OS X 10.9 Mavericks...dated 2013-11-15 and it works. I used both the Officejet driver and the Airprint driver, both worked, I am able to scan.
    The issue you are experiencing is not the software it seems to be related to the computer or how it may have installed onto your computer. It could even be a firewall. Do you have a USB cable you can connect to see if you can scan with the cable to eliminate weather the issue is stemming from the network or not?
    Here are some steps you can try, I have seen great success with these steps being completed in order.
    Scrub (Removes all HP software)
    Open the Applications folder > HP or Hewlett Packard folder > HP Uninstaller
    Click continue, click on one of the printers in the list.
    Hold down Control, Option and Command
    While holding the three buttons down, Click uninstall
    Reset Printing System
    Click the Apple icon, and then click System Preferences    .
    In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The  Print & Fax/Scan  dialog box opens.
    Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
    Click OK to confirm the reset.
    Type the correct  Name and Password    .
    Click  OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
    Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
    Repair Disk Permissions (I know many of you have done this but because we have now done a scrub it is good measure to ensure non of your permissions differ)
    On the Dock, click  Applications, and then click  Utilities.
    Double-click  Disk Utility.
    Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
    Click the  Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
    Once the repair is complete, restart the computer .
    Restart the computer
    Click on HP Officejet 6700 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver - OS X 10.9 Mavericks to download and then install the necessary software for mavericks.
    Keep me posted with how this works out. I am certain this is not an issue with the software. This software was designed and released to work with Mavericks and as explained I downloaded it so I can see it with my own eyes. (I didn't want to insist it would work and find out that there is actually a problem with it )

  • Printing with HP 4215 - Using the scanning feature of the printer

    Is there any work-around in order to be able to scan using my HP4215 with 10.5? This used to work fine with the other 10.x systems of Apple. HP seems to want everybody to just (as usual) throw away their perfectly fine printer in order to recover a feature customer originally paid for and received.

    Try downloading the latest driver from HP. I have a plain vanilla HP printer (which works fine), but I have read that multi-function printers are not supported by OS X built-in drivers.

    the F4480 printer is connected wireless & will not scan thru the computer. I have installed the HP printer wizard & have  conducted a test scan & it functions properly. I then installed a HP printer scan doctor &everything checked out okay,however when I did a test scan it would not work.

    Hey there @devil-62-man , I hope you are well
    I have some suggestions for you that should help with the scanning issues you are having with your Deskjet F4480.
    1. Try power cycling the network devices:
    Turn off the printer and computer and unplug the router for 1 minute (do not press any buttons on the router).
    Plug the router back in and wait another minute, next turn on the printer and computer.
    Try scanning through the HP software again.
    2. If the scans still do not work, try Uninstalling the Printer Software through the Control Panel and then restart the PC to complete the uninstall. Next, download and run the installation to install the Full Feature Driver here: HP Deskjet F4400 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver
    Try scanning again and let me know the results.

  • Windows 10 broke scan feature

    Installed Windows 10.   Scan does not work.  Printer default was changed to a Microsoft printer.  I switched back to the HP 2510 Deskjet.  I can pirnt and other features work in the HP Printer Assistant except for the scan.  Also when I press the Scan button on the printer I get the follow error message.   I went to Device Manager, Printer.   I clicked to update the driver and It said the driver was up-to-date and was working properly.  I disabled the printer and then enabled it.  I can print fine.  No scan function anymore.        

    I  should add that I ran HP Print and Scan Doctor.  It went through all the steps, having me also unplug and replug everything.   At the very end I got this error message per the image:
