Scan harddrive for all images/movies?

hi — quick question,
does anyone know if it is possible to make iPhoto scan my computer and import all available images/movies? or 3rd party software that can help do this?

Spotlight? But here's a tip: when you do an all images search be sure to put a minimum size on it or you'll get every icon and cached gif on the Mac.

What is the Search for:- All images/All documents/all movies for in Finder

I am confused as to the purpose of Search for:- All images/documents/movies in Finder. I seem to have documents, pictures and music I have never seen or downloaded, and often photos I have actually downloaded are copied in triplicate sometimes more. I have at times got 10,000 items in my documents in Search for? My worry really is does this all take up memory on my computer and if so why is it happening and how do I stop it?
I do hope someone can explain the purpose of the Search For?

Thanks Kappy, I had thought that is what it probably was but just confused by all the items I never searched for or downloaded. Now that I know it doesn't take up any memory I shan't worry about it. When I deleted everything from the search for files all the photos in my iphoto and documents were also removed. (thankfully I always have my stuff backed up on hard drive) I guess one just shouldn't remove them? Is there a safe way to clear it out without loosing the stuff I need to keep?

Create hyperlink for all images

Hello everyone,
I am new to scripting, but I am assuming my current task needs some scripting.
I have a catalog laid out in InDesign. It is about 250 pages and each page has about 10 image so there are about 2500 images. The way I have them laid out is each image is placed inside a frame. Now, I need to hyperlink each image to an external web site. For example, for an image whose name is (12345.jpg), the hyperlink will be "https://www.testabc.com/productdetails.aspx?itemnum=12345". Similarly if the next item is 67890, then the hyperlink would need to be "https://www.testabc.com/productdetails.aspx?itemnum=67890". All images are linked to a folder on the computer.
Can you please suggest how best to write and run this script. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't test the script at the moment, but looking at it, I do notice that the entire for loop is within a try-catch. That means that if it encounters an error, it stops processing any more graphics. There may be a good reason for this, but I think you could just move the try-catch into the for loop, so it can catch any individual linking error without stopping completely. Something like this:

The forum's syntax highlighting is giving me a hard time, but I would probably throw an "alert(myGrName)" into those catch brackets so you can begin to try to figure out where it's erroring out (if that is indeed the problem).
Another thought is that, if there's a chance of multiple images with the same number, you might want to have your hyperlinkURLDestination check for an already existing destination before adding a new one.

Develop: One Step back for all images?

I wonder how you solve this problem: often I am in a situation, where I want to apply one or two settings to all images - but only temporarily...then I would like to go back to the previous state... applied to all images with one click.
for example: I create a slideshow, but don't develop every single image for that...so I apply a lot of saturation and some sharpening to all images ... or check out how all images look in b&W.... after that I want to return to previous state of the image as easy as possible.(which all have different develop-settings already??)
I tried: change one image...then mark all...synchronize... but how can I get back to the previous state of the image (which all have different develop-settings already??)

Select all, create a new collection with the virtual copy option on, make adjustments with entire collection selected. You can then do anything you want to the virtual copies without affecting your original set of adjustments. If you want, you can delete the collection when you're done.

Script to "Reset size" for all images in a RoboHelp project

New UI. Quick fix to pull new screenshots is hampered by the size constraints of graphics.
Is there a (third party or built in) script that will reset size for all the images in a RoboHelp HTML project?
RH8, RoboHelpHTML bulished as WebHelp.
PS the filter in Adobe Forums doesn't allow me to limit the search to RoboHelp HTML and WebHelp; I don't have any other Adobe products, so all the hits don't apply.

What needs to be done to convert a .jsx into an .exe executable that I can add to the RH Toolbox (pod) and run it in a project on my terms, rather than import into the project so it runs (whenever I compile?)

Fireworks 8 (mac) creates slice files for all image layers

Hi,
When creating a document with one or more slices with a
rollover behaviour, fireworks exports the
same number of images for the rest of the slices on the
page, even those without a rollover behaviour. For example, if
there is a slice with 4 states (therefore 4 image layers), all the
slices on the page will export 4 images, even if you only require
1. This is very frustrating especially if the page has many slices.
Does anybody else apart from Angel Massa, who I have seen
make a post last year on this subject, have this problem or know
the solution?
This didn’t happen on any of the previous releases of
Fireworks.

New Harddrive for all fotos

Hi,
I'm totaly lost, because I want to transfer all my fotos to a new bigger harddrive.
I have fotos in the Aperture Lib but also external stored in several folders. So I transfered all files to the new harddrive. Relocating the aperture lib was no problem. But the external stored fotos aren't correct connected.
If I try to reconnect them with aperture I fail, because the button for reconnect all (I don't know, if this ist the correct term for the english button, I'm using the german version!!) is always grey and not active. It is not possible to click on that button.
So, anybody an idea? Onother way of reconnecting? Wrong function in aperture?

got it!! Very stupid way!!! You must click only on one missing item in the list, search the new location an then the button for all items in the list is clickable.

Filling out IPTC Core information to be the same for all images?

How do I fill out all the IPTC Core info so that any and all images I load into Bridge - that info stays constant - such as 'Creator' 'Country' 'Phone' 'Copyright' etc. ?

Image Processor doesn't get me what I'm after.
Photoshop has the option to create a contact sheet. So imagine that I want to create a contact sheet of images, but keep them on separate layers, and be able to change the size of the images as I feel, to fit my collage.

How can I make Preview open to actual size for all images?

In Snow Leopard, Preview open all images actual size. In Mountain Lion, vertical images (and all images larger than the screen) fit to the screen and I have to use the keyboard command to see actual size. What happened, and is there any way to fix this?

Open a PDF in Preview. Now, right-click on the toolbar and select Customize Toolbar ...
Drag the circled items from the customize panel to your toolbar and release there.
Click the middle button in the Zoom panel. The Scale will report 100%.
Your future Preview documents will open at 100% now.

Black and White Preview for all images Quick and Easy can it be done?

Before I switched to Mac, I used a google program to do my iphoto/aperture like editing called Picasa. Picasa allowed me to change my view to black and white so that all my images looked black and white until I changed my view back. This was GREAT for letting me look at a wedding or a group of images and quickly scan for the ones that looked spectacular in black and white as apposed to color.
I have been desperately trying to find a setting in Aperture that will allow me to do that so that I can get a super quick preview of everything and mark the ones that I want to really spend time converting to black and white.
Does anyone know how to do this? I would almost be willing to change my monitor settings to greyscale temporarily if that is even possible.

What I do is this:
In the View Menu set Proofing Profile to Gray Tone.
Then anytime you want to see things in B&W, hit ShiftOptP
(Pictures are only B&W in Viewer only mode--large or full screen. But you can use the arrow keys to move through a whole album)

New location for all images

Currently the catalog/previews are on a local drive and the images are on a
network drive. To improve performance, I added another terabyte of local
drive space and copied the entire folder of 33,000 images from the network
storage to the local drive. How do I tell LR that the images have moved to
another location?

I did a similar thing (although moving to a new computer with much bigger internal drive).
Based on some notes here, I create a new target directory on the target drive (in Windows, not in LR). Then I added that directory (empty) to LR.
Then in the Folder panel in LR, I am dragging and dropping the files to the new folder which MOVES the physical directories and keeps the LR catalog in sync.
It seems to be working, but it is slow. It goes photo by photo, but it does give you a progress bar at least.
If you move the files outside of LR, I don't know of any way to point LR to the new files, and for me at least, I have a lot of data in the LR database that is not written to the files, so if i re-import I would loose that metadata.

I have an 8gb ipod touch and I downloaded 3 movies from itunes on to my ipod. I dont have enough available space for all three movies. How do I stop or cancel a download after it has already began? And what will happen if I cannot cancel download.

On your syncing cmputer go to iTunesStore>Check for available downloads. They shoud go there if problems dowloading them to yur iPod.

Scanning computer for music and move to itunes

Recently upgraded to Windows 7 and person helping me moved all my music to an external drive. Now want to get back into Itunes but playlists are gone and music is not organized. How do I get itunes to look for music and import to itunes - or should I just stick with Windows media player?

How can I permanently disable the pixel grid for all images forever?

I keep turning this off with View -> Show -> Pixel grid and it keeps coming back every time I zoom in on a new image.
Is there a registry setting I can change to permanently disable this feature? Or any other way?

Perhaps a Prefs Reset will fix this. Hold down ctrl-alt-shift and start Photoshop.

Where do I find Preferences dialog?

There are two levels: The OS (Mac Finder or Windows Explorer) and Bridge.
In the case of jpegs on my Mac, I open them in Preview at the OS level.
If I want them to open in Photoshop, I open Bridge CC, and then double-click on the thumbnails there, which opens them in Photoshop.
Photoshop is usually the default editor for Bridge.
