Problem solved!!!! New printer, learning curve and I am blonde. Love it!!!!! Thanks for helping me. I was used to an automatic screen that would pop up whenever I scanned and would change my settings on a regular basis. This is a little more work than that and I couldn't find it.

  • Envy 7640 Can't Find 'Scan Settings'

I have an Envy 7640 E-All-In-One printer, S/N: TH4B1260YY, FPU: E4W43-64001. I am currently using OS X Yosemite, v10.10.1, with no outstanding updates on a Mac mini (Late 2014), 2.8 Ghz Intel Core i5 with 8 GB RAM. There are no error messages on the device or my computer.
I have installed the printer using the HP full-featured driver, dated 2014-09-01, version 12.39, provided by the HP Support website. The setup completed successfully, the printer is working great on the wireless network, and printer features work fine. When provided the option, I also installed HP Scan. The HP Scan standalone program opens, but does not detect any devices or scanners.
On a nearby Windows 7 machine, I was able to setup the scanner and use it from the software for that OS. Scanning directly from the device and emailing the scan, as well as webscan functions also work. I am certain the issue is NOT with the device scanner itself.
I followed the troubleshooting guide found here, and completed solution #1. I was not able to complete solution #2 because in my HP Utility I do not have a "Scan Settings" option. Here is a screen grab of my HP Utility view:
I also completed solution #3 (repair disk permissions) and solution #4 (check connectivity). Both completed without issue. I then performed solution #5 (reinstall the printer software), setup the printer again without issue for printer functionality, but still do not have a scan settings in HP Utility.
    Please help!

    Hi
I understand you are having problems scanning to your Mac from the printer despite your best efforts. I'm sorry to hear that, but will certainly do all I can to help out
I would like to do a manual uninstall, follow the instructions below. I apologize in advanced this is not a fun task! I will try to make it easy to follow. Some of the files described in the following steps may not be found, if you can't find one of the files or folders on your computer, don't be alarmed, skip the step and move to the next step.
Move the files and/or folders to the trash, drag and drop
    Macintosh HD/Applications//Hewlett-Packard folder
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/ - delete all files and folders regarding HP/Hewlett Packard
In Macintosh HD/Library/Caches - delete all files and folders regarding HP/Hewlett Packard
Macintosh HD/Library/Documentation/Help/ - delete all files and folders regarding HP/Hewlett Packard
    Macintosh HD/Library/Frameworks/HPServicesInterface.framework
    Macintosh HD/Library/Frameworks/HPSmartX.framework
    Macintosh HD/Library/Image Capture/TWAIN Data Sources/HP Scan Pro
In Macintosh HD/Library/Image Capture/Scripts - delete all files and folders regarding HP/Hewlett Packard
In Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences - delete all files and folders regarding HP/Hewlett Packard
Move Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/loginwindow.plist to the desktop. NOTE: Not removing the file loginwindow.plist during the manual uninstall could cause the uninstall to be unsuccessful.
In Macintosh HD/Library/Printer/hp - delete folder
In Macintosh HD/Library/StartupItems, drag the following folders to the trash, HP IO and HP Trap Monitor
In Macintosh HD/Users/USERNAME (this should have a symbol of a house next to it)/Library/Preferences, drag the following folders to the trash: *Any files beginning with com.apple.print, *Any files beginning with com.hp, *Any files beginning with Hewlett-Packard, *Any files beginning with HP or hp
In MacintoshHD/Users/USERNAME/Library/Printers, drag any All-in-One printers listed here into the trash.
Drag the HP icons from the Dock and drop it on an empty space on the desktop. The icon will disappear.
    Close all open windows.
    Restart.
    Empty the Trash.
After logging in, Repair Disk Permissions
On the Dock, click  Applications, and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
Once the repair is complete, restart the computer .
    Restart the computer.
Install the software we download earlier, once the software is successfully installed we can then delete the loginwindow.plist from the desktop.
Download and install the full feature software again; HP-ENVY-7640-series_v12.39.0.dmg
Restart both the computer and the printer and check the HP utility for the scan options again.
I hope this helps, please let me know if this resolves the issue or not. Thanks.

  • HP M1522NF Twain is Unavailable in Preconfigured Scan Settings. Cannot change paper size.

Only WIA driver is available in the preconfigured scan settings. I looked at the Hp LaserJet M1522 documentation, and it says:
    TWAIN compatibility
TWAIN-compliant programs can scan documents directly from the product. Programs that follow the TWAIN standards should work because HP LaserJet products support the required core functions for TWAIN version 1.9 compliance. However, these programs have only limited support for extended TWAIN options, and software that requires full support, such as Adobe and Core, might not function as expected.
For programs that are not TWAIN-compliant, use the following steps as a workaround:
Use the HP LaserJet Scan software to scan the document into a folder in .TIFF format (or any other file type that the software supports).
Import the .TIFF file into the program.
This is a pretty cumbersome work around. Are there any plans for Acrobat X to fully support extended TWAIN options? Is there an an easier work around?

  • Scan settings - base file name

New to Solution Center Scanning: Is there a way I can input a new name for each individual picture scanned?Without going out and entering the solution center new each time. I don't want the #001, #002 after my picture file - I want to rename each picture. Thanks

Hi , Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I noticed that you're looking for information regarding changing the file name of your scans on your HP Photosmart C4780 All-in-One Printer. I will certainly do my best to help you. If you wish to customize the file name for each scan, you would have to continue to do what you are doing now. Otherwise the Solution Center Software will continue to save it as, e.g. scan0001, when saving the document or photo.  I would suggest browsing through the steps within this guide, HP Multifunction Printers - How to Scan: Windows 8, If you would like more details on the Software functionality, Step two: Scan the itemReview the default scan settings for the selected Scan Shortcut, and change any settings as needed. To change the basic scan settingsClick the drop-down arrow () to select the setting that you want to change. To change the advanced Photo/Document settingsClick Advanced Picture Settings or Advanced Document Settings, and then select the setting you need.Click Save to file Save Options to change the following settings (depending on your printer):Specify the location to send saved scans on the computerEdit the file name of the saved scanSpecify how the HP software completes the scan action:Opens the scan fileLaunches File ExplorerNOTE:  After changing your settings, I suggest you select the Option: Make the selected shortcut the default for this button.  Hope this answers your question. • I have nothing in the "Scan to" menu in "Scan Settings" in Solution Center.

    Hi
I have a Photosmart 2575 All-in-One printer/scanner which I have had working under Windows Vista Home Premium operating system on a Dell Dimension E521 for several years. The other day I suddenly received messages that Solution Center could not detect any HP devices. I have not installed anything new apart from automatic updates to the o/s and McAffee protection. I thought the solution might be to reinstall - which I did. Now, in Solution Center, I have nothing in the "Scan to:" menu in "Scan Settings". The suggested solution is to uninstall and reinstall - which I did to no avail. I also ran the HP Scan Diagnostic Utility - same recommendadtion! Any ideas? Thanks

    Hi there rjbawden,
Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
    Best of Luck!

  • How to change default scan settings for Preview?

I want to be able to change those default settings to I do not have to change them every time I open Preview. Can anybody let me know if it is possible and how to go about setting those?

  • HP2050 J510 Printer - Scan Settings

I am unable to scan b/w documents and save it in my documents folder as 'documents'.  They always get saved as videos and pictures.  What settings I use for scan 'profile' and 'file type' from the list of drop-down options?  Thanks.

    Hi Natguard1969,
I understand that when you save black and white scanned documents, they are saving as videos and pictures.
With a few steps we should be able to resolve this issue.
Most likely the default program is set to pictures or video to open your documents with.
Right click on the scanned document and left click on open with, select choose default program.
Select the program which you would like to open up your documents with. You might have to click the Browse button to find a specific program.
For example, if it is a PDF, I would select Adobe Reader.
I have provided a document for how to Scan and change the settings through the software.
    Select your operating system.
Hope this helps resolve your issue.

  • SCAN settings if no DNS is available

    Hi,
I am instalaling Oracle 11g R2 RAC and i dont have DNS server in my network. I am adding the scan IP's in the host file. While installing i am getting error that the scan Ip's are not resolveable.
Should i assign the SCAN IP's to my network cards? Please advice how we can configure SCAN in this case?
    Thanks
    Zeeshan Sheikh

    Hi Zeeshan
You should ideally configure DNS, but you can make do by defining the SCAN name pointing to a single SCAN VIP in hosts file on all cluster members. The SCAN name should be pingable by name before starting the install, but there should be nothing using the IP address (so ping should fail). Use an IP address in the same network as your node VIPs, but make sure it is not in use. Having decided not to use SCAN, you should connect your clients to the node VIPs in the same way that 10g RAC works, i.e. use address_list in tnsnames.ora.

  • What scan settings to use when creating multipage pdf for best opening speed.

Example: A four page text pdf created directly from my Epson Perfection V500 photo scanner is 193 kb.  It opens quickly and perfectly on my iMac.  Opening it on my iPad in iBooks, it takes awhile, and when I turn pages, there's a blank page at first, and then it slowly fills in.
Now,  much larger pdf's that I create in Photoshop and InDesign open quickly and perfectly in iBook on my iPad.  What gives?  Any suggestions?  Thanks, Tom

Hi!  The previous answer is right on, just wanted to add that the reason that larger PDFs from Photoshop or InDesign might open faster is that they are likely text-based.  If your particular project allows for it, you could use the OCR features of Acrobat to extract the text from a scanned page, which would ultimately result in a smaller PDF, which would open faster on your device.  See this page for some more information on this process: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/convert-jpeg-scan-ocr-to-pdf.html  Hope this helps!

  • What has Yosemite done to my scanning settings?

I used to click a small hp scanner icon in Launchpad and it would talk to my hp Officejet 4630 and scan happily.
Since Yosemite has arrived this will no longer work WHY IS THIS SO? How can I fix it?

Preview has become quite versatile. You can also use Image Capture, or the Scan tab in System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
HP's dedicated scanning software is no longer necessary, and their Mac technical support is pathetic anyway.

  • HP LaserJet MFP M476dw paper size mismatch when copying or scanning from ADF

We have HP Color LaserJet MFP M476dw that has an issue when copying or scanning from the ADF.
Put a single A4 sheet in the ADF and choose copy, with all settings correct & no resizing, and the output copy is moved down the page (increased top marging by a couple of inches).
My initial thoughts were a paper size issue (e.g. treating A4 as Letter or vice versa) but all settings look correct.  I have even done a reset and started over and the problem remains.
If I take the original and place it on the flatbed and copy from there with all the same settings then it works fine.
There is a similar issue when scanning from the ADF.  Again, scanning from the flatbed works fine.
I've tried all I can think of.  Does anyone have any further suggestions?  Could it be a fault in the ADF?

Computer also cannot find Http://192.168.223.1 and no scan settings on HP 8600 printer device icon on computer.

    Hi,
Are they (computer & printer) on a SAME network ? Where do you get the IP from ? Have you install software and drivers of your printer on your computer yet ?
    Regards.

  • C309a won't scan to computer

SPECS: Vista Ultimate SP1, Trend Micro PC-cillin firewall, HP C309a printer
I can send & receive faxes, I can print from my computer and I can make copies. Everyime I try to scan by pushing the scan button on the printer I get the message to try scanning from my computer, EXCEPT one time yesterday it actually scanned when I hit the button but the very next try I got the error message. Sometimes it goes through the menu, I push scan, select scan to computer, the printer shows the name of my computer on the LCD screen and I push OK, the screen shows "scanning now" then gives the message to try from my computer, other times as soon as I hit the scan button i get the error message. Sometimes by going to HP Soluton Center on my computer I can get it to scan from the scan document selection, sometimes not. Just now I tried to scan from my compuetr and got an error message with 6 options to try, none of which helped. I have tried to un-install & re-install several times, had the firewall off, etc. Any ideas to get my scanner working as it is supposed to? Thanks for any help!

I also had the same problems for a few times, then finally figured out n remembered where i might unknowingly change something to cause the problem.
    Go to HP Solution Center.
Click on "settings", the 2nd icon from lower right corner.
So the screen would change to "Scan Settings" (, Fax, Print, n Other Settings).
Point n click your cursor to scan settings with a right arrow.
Then it shows: (Scan Picture Settings, Scan Document Settings, Scan Preferences, Button Settings, n )
    click on " Scan to...Setup".
It appears: Scan To...Setup (Front Panel List).
U see "Available Scan Shortcuts" on the left.
Click n Add (->) one by one to the right " Front panel List (Scan to Button)".
Finally, click on "Update the Device".
So when u press "start scan" (or Scan n ok), it will show u a list of Scan Menu on ur printer control Panel.
Select "Scan to computer" n press ok.
It will show u "Scan To", which r the selected items u just added one by one.
Then choose the one u want.
It should be working as it is supposed to.

  • Hp photosmart 5510 won't scan in colour on my mac

My HP Photosmart 5510 will not print in colour to my mac documentary page.

I assume you may try scanning from the printer front panel and the scanned page appear as Grayscale only?
If I assumed incorrectly, please clarify the exact problem and the OS details as listed above.
If my assumtion is correct, please try the following steps:
*If you are using Mac OS X 10.7, install the Critical Update below, otherwise skip that part (The OS version can be checked by clicking the Apple Icon > About This Mac):
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL41827/mp-101648-1/HP_Scan_for_Mac_OS_X_10.7_Update.dmg
Now change the device settings as following:
    1. Open the HP Utility and select your device.
    2. From Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
    3. Click the "Scan Tasks" tab.
    4. Select the Scan Shortcut used to scan, then click Edit.
    5. In the section of Scan from an HP Device click on the blue triangle to enlarge the menu.
    6. From the enlarged menu now open the drop-down menu next to Mode and set as Color.
    7. Click OK and try scanning.
Please let me know of any change,
    Shlomi

  • HP Office Jet Pro 8610 won't scan to imac system 10.10.1

I can get the printer to scan from my computer, but not post it on the desktop. It say the function is disabled and contact set up person or administrator. My son set it up and is not available. I will be the administrator. How do I enable the function.  Hp Officejet pro 8610. I'm on a IMAC operating system 10.10.1

    Hello @Annpaints,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are unable to scan with your Mac running the Yosemite 10.10 Operating system to your HP Officejet Pro 8610, when you attempt to scan to the Mac you are given the error that it needs to be enabled. Please go ahead and start below:
Click the Finder tab, and then click Go.
Click the Utilities tab, and then click the HP Utilities icon.
Click Scan Settings, and then select the Enable Scan to Computer box.
Are you now able to Scan to the Mac? I was able to find this helpful information here: Scanning with the Full Feature HP Software in OS X v10.10 Yosemite
Please let me know the outcome.
