Scan to printer over wireless network

Hi there,
I have the pixma mx882 printer and it is configured over my wireless network. I am trying to locate the scanning software that enables me to scan via the wireless network?.
I tried the MP Navigator EX V4.1.3, although it says I need to connect the printer via USB. I presume there is a way to scan back to my Windows 7 PC via the wireless config I have?
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/office_all_in_one_inkjet_prin...
Thanks for your help.

Hi motoq79,
With MP Navigator EX installed and the printer setup on the network, you may need to configure a few additional things to be able to scan over the network.
We have an excellent article on our Knowledge Base that details all the setup that is necessary to scan over the network.  To view the article, CLICK HERE.

  • Printing to shared windows printer over wireless network

    Hi,
I just bought my wife a MacBook and recently updated it to Leopard (OS X 10.5). I have a Lexmark X5150 printer connected to a desktop PC running Windows XP. I can share files between the two computers no problem either wirelessly or through an ethernet connection through my router. But, I'm having troubles accessing the shared printer through the Macbook wirelessly. If I connect the printer directly to the Macbook, I can add the printer with appropriate drivers no problem. However, when I try to add the printer as Windows shared printer, the appropriate driver doesn't show up in the drop down list. I can navigate to and find the printer over the network fine, but I just can't find the right driver. I'm a newbie to Mac and was wondering if there is anyway to find the driver using Finder or something similar to determine where it physially resides on the Mac. I know it's there because it is automatically selected when I directly connect the printer to the Macbook and add the printer. Any thoughts??

Couldn't figure things out, so I'll just stick with connecting the printer directly to the macbook.

  • Problem with printing over wireless network

    Hello. I have a HP psc 2410 all-in-one printer.
I've recently bought a modem router which has a capability called"printer-server" and I decided to use this feature and print over wifi. I set it up but with a problem. when I print something, for instance, test page, instead of printing just one page, It will print "test page" in 3 pages( something like partial pages and which the last=third page is printed blankly) and then It freezes(printer screen shows "printing" and I have to cancel the job, otherwise it freezes and I have to replug it). I have this trouble not just in test page but at least from IE, office, PDF files. This problem is essentially about Wifi, since If I connect the printer directly to the PC or laptop via usb, it works absolutely fine. also I have tried printing with different laptops over wifi but no go. below are more information which I have to mention:
1)Router is on WPA-PSK encryption type.
2)There is no mac-filtering or hiding SSID going on.
3)one laptop and an iPad is connected to router via wifi and a PC which is connected by LAN cable.
4)The printer IP address is the same as Router's settings page IP address.(192.168.0.1)
5)I can't open the printer's internal web page by entering the printer's IP address in browser since it's the same as router IP address.
6)Firewall on my laptop( windows 7  32-bit) is off and I'm using no Anti-virus.
    7) I have tried HP PRINT AND SCAN DOCTOR, but it says the printer is OK.
    thanks
    Leland
EDIT: after investigating for hours, I finally managed to get rid of freezing problem. now there is just one problem of that partial printing which happens coincidentally over wifi! I mean, sometimes it happens and sometimes not!
any suggestions? I'd really appreciate it

The bottomline is that this printer has no way of connecting other than a straight USB connection.   In order to make it wireless you have to have a device that will give it an network IP address.  The printer by itself can not do this.
The only way to get this printer on a network is to buy a SEPERATE USB Printer Server.   Or, buy a separate router, like I said, that has a USB connection on the back that will support printers.
You can not connect it the way you want as it stands right now.
However, call your ISP and have them set it up IF their Gateway device has a USB connection and really can support a printer.  It is their issue.

  • Can't Print Over Wireless Network to HP OfficeJet 6210 connected to XP Comp

I've been trying in vain for the better part of a week and a half to print from my MacBook Pro (w/ Leopard 10.5.5) over my wireless network (Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router) to an HP OfficeJet 6210 connected to my Dell Desktop running Windows XP SP3. I CAN however, both see and print to the printer with a PC laptop running Windows Vista. I've both re-installed and upgraded the drivers to the Windows XP desktop AND the MacBook Pro for the printer and still can't come to a conclusion. I am able to print to the printer from the MacBook Pro when plugged directly in via USB. I've tried to add the printer via "Windows" tab in printer configuration by choosing the network, then the computer, then entering the administrator accounts user name/password, however I'm still unable to print from the MacBook. Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi LukeZim,
Sorry, but drivers on OS X aren't like on Windows (yet), where a driver is just a component in a system that works for all the comm protocols the computer can do. That's the way it would be if manufacturers provided CUPS drivers (CUPS is the print control system on OSX). But most manufacturers are still providing Carbon drivers - where the comm protocol is limited to what is put into the driver. HP provided a Carbon, USB-only driver for your printer. You'll need to use a third-party CUPS driver to use Windows Printing.
Gutenprint drivers (included with Leopard) are CUPS drivers, for example.

  • Printing over wireless Network connection

Both my iMac and Macbook are networked over a wireless network. My printer is connected to my MacBook.
I have turned on print sharing on both computers and am able to see the printer that's connected to my MacBook on my iMac, but when I try and print something on my iMac, nothing happens.
It gets added to a print queue on the iMac, but not the MacBook.
Can anyone give me an explanation as to why this is happening? and how to rectify this?
    Thanks!
    Phil

I have a PowerMac G5 desktop which has a printer attached by USB. I have a wireless router, to which the G5 is connected by Ethernet, and a MacBook wirelessly. Printer Sharing is turned on on the G5 because it is "hosting" the printer. I don't have Printer Sharing turned on on my MacBook. I can print wirelessly from the MacBook even though printer sharing is off (I do have file sharing turned on, however). Any computer on the network (I only have a MacBook) can see the printer attached to the host G5. I wonder with your setup why your printer is attached to the laptop and not the desktop (just your preferred setup I guess). I wonder if having both computers' print sharing on is confusing things b/c only one of them actually has a printer attached. I do remember having to reboot in the early days of my setup when I had Printer Sharing enabled on both machines. But like you said it is working so it really doesn't matter.

  • LaserJet M1120n MFP - Problems with printing over Wireless Network.

Hi. I have recently purchased a HP M1120n MFP printer.  There are three wireless laptops (Vista, & XP Pro) that use this printer via a DrayTek Vigor 27000GE wireless router, then via cat 5 cable to Ethernet on printer.
All three laptops can print, but sometimes the print queue backs ups.  The top print job will say "Printing" but it can say this for hours!  Then if I delete the print job, it will say "Deleting" - but nothing happens.  The only way to clear it is to reboot the laptop.
    Firmware datecode is 20080228.
If I connect via USB cable directly to the printer it works correctly.
Any ideas to help resolve this frustrating problem?

  • Problems printing over wireless network

i gave my parents a macboook pro and wireless router, and i also gave them my old g4 tower. i set the g4 up to print via usb connection to the hp 2410 all-in-one printer....no problems there. the g4 is also connected to the network via ethernet (cable modem).
then i set up the router so the MBP could connect to the internet...no problems there. wireless router connected to the cavle modem.
then i tried to print wirelessly from the MBP to the printer....no luck. printer sharing is on and drivers are installed, but the MBP isnt recognizing a printer on the network. any help??

    "drivers are installed"
Did you check the printer's manufacturer site to confirm the drivers are updated? Besides my printer's own drivers I also use Gimp drivers which can be found HERE.
Did you repair permissions & then restar your comoputer?
On all your computers using the printer, check System Preferences>Sharing>Services
Make sure +Printer Sharing+ is ON.
Your system info confirms you are only using OS 10.6. Update your OS & check Software Update to install all the other updates that goes along w/it.

  • Can't see shared printer over wireless network

I currently have a newer HP F340 injet printer connected to my emac which is on a wireless network (Linksys) so that I can share internet connection with my MacBook Pro. Both are running Mac OS 10.4.8. When I try to print on my MacBook Pro, I don't even see the shared printer, in fact, there isn't even a separate chioce for shared printers. I used to have a Lexmark printer that actually worked on the network.

After following some advice from a different posting, I loaded the gimp print drivers and recreated the printer in the printer listing using the gimp printer. This worked! The only problem I had was that I had to load the whole Mac OSX base system and then the print drivers. This messed up my system and I had to reset a bunch of user preferences, etc. It took me a couple of hours.

  • Sharing Printer over Wireless Network

I am trying to print from my MacBook to a printer that is connected to my desktop.
My printer is a HP LaserJet 1012.
My desktop is a HP Media Center running Windows XP.
My MacBook is running Mac OS X Version 10.5.5
I've shared my printer on my desktop. However, when I check system preferences > print & fax window, no printers show up. When I click on the plus sign, there are no listed installed printers.
Is this a Mac issue? a HP issue?
I've been working on this issue for a long time and can't seem to figure out how to get the MacBook to see my printer.
AHHHH!!! Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

I am experiencing same problem. My desktop has Vista. Is there something that needs to be addressed on the PC so the Mac will see the printer? We have set up the pc to 'SHARE'. The PC is the network HOST and the mac is the GUEST. When we go to Add printer and click Windows, no printers are listed. It's probably something simple but we sure can't figure it out. HELP PLEASE.

  • IMac G5 no longer prints to laser printer over ethernet network

I have a small office with 6 iMacs networked via ethernet with a Netgear Router. Printers are connected to one machine and people send to print over the network.
    3 iMacs are G5. 3 are Intel. All run OS X 10.5.8.
A month ago one of the G5 iMacs stopped being able to print to a Brother laser printer (which is connected by USB to an Intel iMac). I believe this happened after we downloaded a periodic Apple update. About 2 weeks ago a second G5 iMac developed the same problem. The 1st G5 iMac still prints fine to an inkjet printer connected directly to it by USB.
We have tried re-loading drivers, but no improvement.
Any suggestions as to how we can resolve this?

    Hi DaddyPaycheck
The iMacs that can't print can see the printer. We have deleted and re-installed via the printer system prefs too. There weird thing is that you can select the printer and send to print, but for some reason the printer then automatically pauses and you can't resume it. The file is listed by the status is 'stopped'. When you open the printer queue on the Intel iMac that the laser printer is connected to, no print file shows up at all...
We also ran the network diagnostic that you can do when in printer system prefs and that reported that "the G5 iMac could connect to the internet, but not the Server "brother HL 4040CN series-1@ben's-iMac-2.ipp.tcp.local" "
Hope there's a clue in there somewhere...

  • Airport won't print over the network

I have a basic HP Photosmart C4200 series printer. It works fine when I plug it directly into my computer but when I plug it into the router, it won't print and this message comes up : "Unable to read response header - short read"
When I delete/add the printer from Preferences, it finds the printer and establishes connection but when I try to print over the network, it gives me that error message.
A weird thing I found was that when connected to the airport, my printer shows up under the iDisks tab under the Airport Utilities instead of being in the Printers tab...

    Welcome to the discussions!
A number of entry level printers are designed so that they will only work when they are connected directly to a computer, so that may possibly explain your problem.
To verify, you can work your way through Apple's troubleshooting guide to see if this is the case. If you've completed all the steps and still can't print, I think you have your answer.

  • Access Denied error when trying to print over the network

I just upgraded my Internet service and leased a new modem. My laptop is connected to the network and is able to browse the Internet. I have file and printer shared tuned on on both the desktop and the laptop. The printer is listed on my laptop, but I cannot print over the network to my HP PSC 1401 All In One. I get an Access Denied error even though the printer should still be connected to the network.

  • Before I had Mavericks I was able to print over the network to a Windows PC. Now I receive the message, "connection refused." Any ideas?

Before I upgraded to Mavericks, I was able to print over the network to a printer attached to a Windows PC. Now, I receive the message, "connection refused." any ideas as to why this may be and what I can do about it would be appreciated.

I had reconfigured all of the settings the same as in the previous OS X. The only thing I can think of that may be causing this is that the printer is an older Canon Pixma iP4300 and the Canon site doesn't have a driver for the new OS X. The Canon site said that the new OS X may supply the driver. Is there any one with the same experience as mine?

  • Unable To Print Over Ethernet Network on HP 6520 all in one

All computers are on windows 8.1. My question or issue is this: Prior to purchasing a Mediabridge wireless router, wireless-n broadband 300 mps router, I had a Zyxtel wireless access point router. I am both Ethernet and wireless. Prior to the Mediabridge I would network print to my HP printer both wireless (iPhone) and over an Ethernet network (PC's and Laptop).
There is an improvement in printing wirelessly on an iPhone. I cannot print over my Ethernet network any longer. I have to unplug my laptop prior to printing before my laptop can see the printer online. With my second PC in another room I am unable to print over the Ethernet network. The printers are installed, drivers and such, but as with the laptop, I would have to unplug the Ethernet cord to print.
My error messages are showing as cannot find printer or or my control panel printer devices show as offline. If I unplug my laptop I can see the printers online. However I don't want to have to take disconnect a second PC in another room to print.
Can you offer any suggestions. Do I need to plug my printer directly into the Mediabridge wireless router?

     Hi Nancyh1030,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Photosmart 6520 Printer and getting the error and not printing. Here is a link to the HP Print and Scan Doctor. The HP Print and Scan Doctor will run a check on your system and connect the printer to same network as the computer. You do have to be connected to the same wireless as the printer to print to it. Unless you are using Eprint. If this does not help you contact Mediabridge.
    Hope this helps.

  • Connecting HP LaserJet P1102w printer to wireless network

I have been trying to connect my HP LaserJet P1102w printer to my wireless network for a couple days now. I put the disk in and follow the instructions. When I get to the part about plugging in the USB to the desktop computer and turning on the printer, and it says the USB isn't connected when it is (the printer is on). I don't know what to do.

    Hi @tripleaaz ,
I can help you with setting up the printer over the wireless network.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet and the USB cable is connected directly to one of the back USB ports on the computer.
The USB cable shouldn't be longer then 6 feet.
Is the cable a 2.0 or 3.0 cable? How to determine whether a USB 3.0 device is operating at SuperSpeed?
Is the USB port on the computer 2.0 or 3.0?
Follow these steps in this document to get to the device manager to check for any printer entries.
How do I get into Windows Device Manager?
Then click on Identifying problems in Windows Device Manager.
In the list click on Universal Serial Bus controllers and look for USB mass storage device and USB printing support, (make sure any other printers are turned off or disconnected) right click and uninstall it. If you have any others with exclamation mark or other devices in the list, delete them also.
Let me know what it showed in the device manager.
Then click on Action, across the top of the window and scan for new hardware.
If the printer wasn't listed at all in the Device Manager, try another USB port on the computer and another USB cable.
Restart the computer and the printer also to see if the printer will be detected.
If the printer still isn't recognized, if you have another computer, connect the printer to it to see if it is recognized.
Just to rule out a USB port on the computer, USB cable or hardware issue with the USB port on the printer.
What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
Let me know how that goes and what the results were.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.
