Scanjet 200 software not installing correctly

I'm running Win7SP1.64bit.
Some of the software doesn't appear to have installed correctly, therefore the two desktop shortcuts (HP Scanning and HP Copy) do not work (they both point to hpqkygrp.exe which does not exist on my HDD or on the CD (although it could be in a CAB file in the setup folder)).
There are no scanner shortcuts at all in my Start menu - only HP Update.
All the buttons on the scanner do launch the scan app but it only allows me to scan to picture (JPG, BMP, PNG, TIF). I cannot scan to PDF, scan to email, or scan to printer (copy).
In the scan app, if I click to change the scanner I get the oportunity to change the properties... On the Events tab, I should be able to configure the actions associated with each of the four buttons but the only available "Start this program" action is "Scan". All four buttons are set to this action.
Control Panel -> Programs&Features entries are
    HP Update,
HP Imaging Device Functions 14.5 and
    OCR Software by I.R.I.S. 14.5.
I've installed and uninstalled the driver and the software numerous times with no difference. I've tried the driver on the CD and downloaded the latest driver from the HP website. I've followed all the troubleshooting procedures I can find but none have helped and i've tried googling this elusive hpqkygrp.exe and found diddlysquat.
I have little enough hair left as it is. Can anyone suggest what might be going wrong?

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at Scanners.

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

Hello i am geting the "Software not installed correctly to communicate with ipod" error. I tryed everything on http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716 nothing worked. I need help for a fix. I was having error 2095 before then i fixed it. Now im having this problem
    Ipod: 30 gig video
    Computer: HP a1112n

    Itunes ver: 6.0.2.23
that rules out one set of possibilities.
okay, we'd better check on the following two possibilities then. (the second one has shown up in itunes 6.0.0.18, 6.0.1.3 and 6.0.4.2, so it's a live possibility with a 6.0.2.23.)

    Gary,
Thanks for getting back to me - I gave up on getting this to work yesterday so Im hoping today will be better. I tried your suggestion of holding down the shift key and it didnt work. I have tried alot of stuff that I found posted in the discussions - I tried doing what you suggested Hewtab do - following the article, IPod appears in Window but not in Itunes. I have shut down my virus software - I even restored my computer back to before I installed Itunes and tried to reinstall it but no go - that made it even worse. When I try to uninstall or reinstall Itunes or the Ipod software it wont let me. - It simply says Product_Name ws not found in string table. IS there anything else I can do? Im about to download winamp and be done with itunes.
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • "iPod software not installed correctly" message.

I posted an earlier topic, but the initial problem has been resolved.
Whenever I plug my iPod into my PC, iTunes gives a message that the iPod software is not installed properly and to reinstall it. I've reinstalled it twice now. The iPod works on my brother's computer and it is recognized fine. What is causing this problem?
    Thanks.

    hi Grady!
just checking to see where you're at. (i saw your other post, and thought from that that you might have fixed this issue.)

Having trouble when I launch iTunes (version 11.0.2) on my Dell Laptop running Windows 7 Professional (service pack 1).  I get an error message indicating software required to communicate with iPod and mobile phones was not installed correctly.  Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?  I normally respond with OK and it immediately tells me "could not be repaired.  Please reinstall iTunes..."  I have done this a number of times to no avail.

I also notice Quicktime is not getting installed at all.
That one is normal nowadays (ever since the iTunes versions 10.5.x).

  • I connected my iPod to my PC and got a message 'The software for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly.

I connected my iPod to my PC and received a message box that read "The software for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly.  Please reinstall the iPod's software."  Not sure what I need to do.  I did uninstall all of my iTunes and related software components and then reinstalled the latest version of iTunes but that did not correct the problem and I now can't access my iTunes library at all.

Another thing is that iPod Touch shows up fine...I've tried every other ipod from older 4gig Nanos to 120gb Classics and none of them work..this is really annoying!

2 error messages when opening itunes: "The software required for communicating with Ipods and mobile phones was not installed correctly.  Do you want Itunes to repair this for you?"  When clicking yes another message indicates not able to remove services.  Another message is: "Service (ipod service) could not be installed.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system sources."  I've uninstalled all Apple services (itunes, quicktime, apple software update, apple mobiles devices support, bonjour and apple application support and reinstalled itunes/quicktime - no change in error messages.  I cannot burn CDs using Itunes.  This all seemed to happen when I updated itunes to version 10.  I have a Windows 7 64-bit operating system on a Dell Inspiron Zino HD; the Itunes software is also 64 bit.

  • Software required is not installed correctly, please reinstall Itunes

I've been at my Dad's house helping build some tables in the past couple of months. I've turned on my pc last sunday and had 15 updates from windows update., so i let it download and install them as i was unpacking.
I started up iTunes and it said there was an update, so I installed the new version, along with the new firmware.
Since then, I get the erro:
"The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iYunes to install the iPid's software."
I've gone through all the 5 R's, http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716, but I can stil see it on my pc, but not iTunes or the Updater.
I've ended the iPodservice.exe, restart, use iTunes/updater, but the iPodservice.exe is running before I use them, but is gone when I use either iTunes or the updater. I can't find anything in the event viewer stating anthing wrong.
I've read other threads, a bit annoyed of how the forum has the posts set left and right and not in exact order of date and time of post, but that's my opinion. But yet I have not found a explanation of why this is happening, and a most accurate way to fix this.
If anyone needs to know, I'm using a 5gen 30gig iPod. I never had this problem before or any problem before either.
Only thing I can assume is window's current updates messed it up just to make the Windows visa look good when it comes out.

First, for the forum view issue. Go to My Settings (on the right) and in General Settings change the Topic Page View to Flat. Click Save. Posts should show up in the order they were written.
    Have you seen this?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93764
Also, since you said that you've gone through the 5 Rs, I would assume that you used the iPod Updater to restore (since there is no other way of doing it and you don't "run" the 5 Rs).
When you restored, did you use the latest updater?
You may also want to try formatting the iPod through Windows. Connect it to the computer and when it appears in My Computer right click it and go to format. Does anything happen? Can you format the iPod through Windows?

  • The software for communicating with ipod is not installed correctly..

Everything used to work fine on my laptop. I'm fairly sure it was after I had uninstalled Zune crap from my laptop when my iTunes started messing up and saying "the software for communicating with ipod is not installed correctly".
I've searched the whole internet front to back about this error and most things I find are from 2005'ish. I've tried changing the registry permissions, reinstalling itunes, clearing out everything that has to do with itunes, doing all the msconfig things, manually starting the ipodservice.exe.
I still cannot figure it out and I've had this error for like 3 months. Only thing that I notice that MIGHT be odd is that I'll have ipodservice.exe running (from System) and when I open iTunes another ipodservice.exe will open (from my username) and then close after a few seconds and then I plug my ipod up and bam, the error from above comes up. Anyone have any clue? Like I said everything worked fine at one point!
    Thanks!

Another thing is that iPod Touch shows up fine...I've tried every other ipod from older 4gig Nanos to 120gb Classics and none of them work..this is really annoying!

  • Error - The software required for the ipod is not installed correctly.  Please reinstall itunes to install the required sotware

When trying to load music from ITunes to my ipod I receive the error "The software required for the ipod is not installed correctly.  Please reinstall itunes to install the required sotware"
What should I do to correct the error?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies. The notes below the box include tips on removing troublesome components.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • The software required for comunicating with ipod is not installed correctly

    Hey
I have recently had to reinstall windows xp on my laptop as the moder board crushed
while the installation was done by a professional, since then everytime i plug my 30gb fifth generation ipod to synch with my Itunes library the following message appears:
"The software required for communicating with the ipod is not installed correctly. Please Reinstall Ipod to reinstall the ipod's software."
what does that mean? i thought
I tried to reinstall itunes over twenty times, sometimes deleting it beforehand using the task messenger, but no use.
I have checked to see if my ipod works with other computers and he does, therefore its a problem of the itunes, or my computer.
I am reaching desperation, as i am unable to update and synch my ipod for over a month now.
i need either a solution or a way of maybe installing an older version of itunes, which may work.
    can anyone help?
    please?

i did the research for you and found the link for the 7.5...
